Guest Reviews

- Augusto (7/5): Great place, nice location. But the apartment could be upgraded a bit. - Good space, very comfortable bed. It has a little kitchen and a decent bathroom. The lack of AC is challenging in the summer. There was a fan in the property. But a very little one.
There were no energy sockets close to the bedroom.
- Manish (9/5): Charming spacious one-bedroom unit in lively Camden Town - Great location, in lively neighborhood and one block from the Tube. Tons of restaurants, cafes and shops within a few blocks. Nice spacious bedroom. Big bed. Historic character. Ample storage. Nice bathroom with big tub. Sizeable kitchen. Access to shared back porch that nobody used except us. Clean, airy entryway to the building. Helpful and responsive hosts. Street noise, including from folks outside the Jazz Club - the windows mostly blocked this when they were closed, but in hot weather we needed to keep them open. No dining area.

- Tanya (7/5): Great location and decent price if you're willing to sacrifice a hot shower and quiet sleep. - We liked the location--it was very close to the tube station (not the best neighborhood, though; I think the other Camden station is safer or the nearby Mornington Crescent). Overall a nice size, comfortable. Great location with regards to shops. M&S, Tesco, and Boots were right down the street, Starbucks across the street and visible from the windows. The Wifi was excellent, I think it was fiber. By far the best Wifi we had anywhere in London. I initially thought the price was fair but there were a lot of extra fees added on and I probably would've chosen to stay elsewhere if I'd realized. It was a little last minute when we booked, though, so this is what we got. We also had to walk quite far to a little tech resale shop to get the keys and the walk wasn't the most pleasant with hagglers selling things in the road and dragging our luggage 1/4 mile to the shop and back toward the tube station to the flat. Host let us leave the keys in the flat on checkout. The shower experience was pretty awful--the water was very hard to get to the right temperature with bad pressure. I accidentally flooded the floor the first time I turned on the water and there were only 2 towels total, one of which I had to use to mop up the floor. The floor was obviously not very clean because it was a brown towel by the time I was finished. Now, I had a wet towel and since there was no drier, I had to find a place to hang the towel to dry. Unfortunately, the metal fold out hanging rack was broken and didn't stand up right. My mom managed to string it up behind the chairs in the living area where it took about 48 hours to dry.
Next, we couldn't figure out how the heater worked. Luckily the weather in London was excellent and we just wore jackets inside at night. The bedding was warm enough. We just wish there had been a top sheet--it was just a fitted sheet with a duvet over.
It was also very very loud at night. We thought the noise was only coming from the middle window so we tried opening and shutting it a couple of times thinking that might make it close better, but it didn't work and it was still very loud. I slept with noise cancelling headphones. The noise was especially bad on the weekends/Friday night. Groups of people would gather outside the Jazz Club next door (which we could luckily not hear) and it sounded like the people were yelling to each other for hours right outside the flat.
The fridge was not sufficiently cold to store food safely. Unfortunately, we had already bought a lot of food from the M&S down the street before we realized it wasn't cold enough. We ended up having to put most of the food in the little freezer portion of the fridge. Once we cooked the food, there were no hot pads to take the food out of the oven.
Finally, I would not recommend the area. It was not the safest area, I don't think. Lots of homeless people and foreigners selling goods right outside the door, possibly illegally.
