Guest Reviews
- Wouter (10/5): -
- Valerie (8/5): Good stay at a good price, food was excellent! - Great views, great food, nice staff, wonderful excursions. Cabanas could use some updating, bed wasn’t super comfortable, and it was loud (not their fault it is on top of a hill overlooking a busy valley).
- Annelise (6/5): Convenient location and good value for money. - Great view and good food. Mattress was not comfortable.
- Gian (9/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): Will definitely stay again. - Amazing view, good food and drinks. Great pool. The noise from the valley really resonates uphill and the cabanas aren’t very sound proof. Which is fine, it would be nice if they sold ear plugs in the lobby.
- Janice (10/5): We really enjoyed the grounds and the location was awesome for the things that we wanted to go see and do - The view from up on the hill was awesome. The individual huts were nice and private. The food was very good and it was enjoyable to be in the pools and the sunsets. The people were incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly. The air conditioning in our room didn’t adjust the temperature very well. And also the shower did not drain well.
- Charlotte (7/5): Enjoyable Stay with Amazing Views - We enjoyed our stay at Cahal Pech, the room was very spacious with a really comfy bed and powerful shower. The bungalows all overlook the amazing view with little paths leading to them we saw lots of lizards and vultures. The setting was very peaceful and calm in well looked after gardens with lots of different tropical plants. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and really make your experience at Cahal Pech I can't fault them!
We had breakfast twice at the restaurant, there were alot of options all very typical American it didn't feel very healthy. We ate there in the evening aswell the food was not the best we have had in Belize and the prices were expensive. There's also a coffee shop which is very hidden and we didn't know about it until we left this should be advertised better or moved to a more central place.
The location is 20 minute walk from town up a big hill so it's not very central, there's a good reasonable restaurant a 10 minute walk away called Lola's which is worth going too. It's also worth walking into town to try other restaurants during your stay and you can get a taxi back which was €10.
The pool area was an added bonus, I'm not sure how clean the pool was as I didn't see anyone cleaning it. It could do with some more sunbeds and getting rid of the awful leather chairs, random plastic red sunbed and cheap furniture.
The overall feel of the hotel was quite dated, the concrete floor around the pool wasn't very nice and the cave area with dinosaur was gimmicky and walking through it felt dirty. I feel the photos need updating and are probably from when the hotel first opened which isn't a true reflection. With some small improvements this hotel could be amazing just with a few changes to modernize it but keep the charm!

- Shelly Ann (9/5): Wonderful! - view was great! the chair and desk were not very comfortable for working on my laptop. maybe yiu could ask incoming guests to indicate if they need a work table and padded chair in their room
- Ervin (8/5): - The amenities in the room Television: no cable
- Janna (10/5): - The location was wonderful, staff were friendly and helpful. We used the shuttle service as well which was awesome. We had our own cabana and absolutely loved it.
- Jon (8/5): Cahal Pech Resort is at the top of the hill and a pretty steep hike from town, but a great place! - The view of town is awesome. We ate at the restaurant three times: lunch the first day, a snack and a beer the second and had breakfast the day we left and it was very good. The staff was excellent from the front desk to the waiters and bartenders. We had a great bungalow, but it was the bottom of the hill, right above the neighbor's roosters. Hiking our bags back up the hill was pretty strenuous, but no big deal.
- Nga (10/5): Enjoyable stay. - Love our bungalows! N/A.
- Sarah (6/5): - Lovely settings, super friendly and helpful staff. The cabins are nice and a great spot to chill but ours felt really damp, mattress and sheets etc. The food in the restaurant is OK but not amazing, I would recommend checking out the restaurants in town.
- Sigrid (10/5): Genuss für Sonnenaufgang und Sonnenuntergang - Schöne Lage auf einem Hügel. Zimmer nach Osten, schöne Sonnenaufgänge. Gutes Essen.
- Alan (8/5): Super stay that could have easily been perfect with a few tweaks - The resort is lovely. The staff are really super helpful and attentive. It’s a perfect “stopover” stay. The restaurant and pools are just what we needed. Despite the negatives below, do not hesitate to book this hotel; it’s one of the best in town. There’s a few things they could do to turn this from a ‘very good’ to an ‘excellent’ stay; most of which have been mentioned in other reviews, so the hotel owners must be aware. Firstly, the WiFi; if you’re staying in the bungalows, forget it. And as there is very patchy WiFi in the bungalows, it means the TV won’t work (you’ll report it and they’ll act like it’s the first time they e heard of the problem because hey, you’ll be gone in a couple of days lol).. Secondly, tea/coffee making facilities in the room; we had our own teabags but still had to pay $5 US for two cups of hot water. Lastly, a minibar with some water. Don’t try and monetise everything and make the stay more special by these simple adds.
- Angie (7/5): - We stayed in a bungalow so we had our own private outdoor space. It made us feel like we were in the jungle not in the city. The breakfast buffet was really good with the omelette station. The resort also booked our excursions and the guides and drivers were so great! The property is up on top of the hill, so if you’re on foot, there’s a bit of elevation from downtown. The resort also overlooks town, which is nice but this also means the traffic noise is quite loud in the evenings/mornings.
- Lynn (8/5): Good enough for us - The space has a beautiful view that we got to enjoy every morning and evening. We loved our cabana, but would have loved a closer cabana since it was quite hilly and steep. Everything was as expected with a three-star resort. Everything looks great from afar but when you look closely there are some things that need repair. There was quite a bit of noise coming from the city, but it was probably much quieter than actually staying in town. Everything was really clean. During the day there was quite a bit of noise from maintenance and construction which impacted our relaxing day at the resort.

- Sharon (9/5): Best place Relax and rejuvenate - Location ,ambience and hospitality of the staff. No complaints
- Howard (7/5): - Pool , bar Rooms very basic fair way from the town
- Simon (7/5): Very good stopover at San Ignacio - Original accomodation, good food and services
- Valentina (8/5): -
- Tricia Matilde (5/5): -
- Debby (9/5): Excellent place to stay! - Breakfast was excellent! Got a little chilled in the room. Needed a bit more blankets
- bruno (8/5): -
Personeel niet altijd even vriendelijk
- Amanda (7/5): Bela vista!
- Vanessa (5/5): The staff for the most part was good. Austin the waiter was great at our fire pit dinner. - The huts are good, the building itself has a motel feel. There was a bug infestation in one of our group’s hut and we were accommodated with another room but it felt like a downgrade.

- Jevaun (7/5): -
- Clint (8/5): -
- Ivan (9/5): It was central to Caracol, Cahal Pech and Xunantunich. Barton caves, Rio on Pools, Big Rock Falls. - Great location
We stayed in the thatched villas overlooking San Ignatious. Lots birds and high up you could see for miles. Great restaurant with lots food and courteous people.
Would recommend the single thatched roof villas.
The highway to Caracol is now paved all the way! The air conditioning was hard to adjust and it got too cold at night.
- Johanna Nieminen (4/5): Not good. - Bed was comfortable. Restaurant staff was nice. Plenty of parking spots available. View from the bungalow was barbed wire fence and some bushes. AC was not working properly and made rattling sound. Curtains cover only half of the windows so impossible to sleep after sunrise. We had to wait half an hour past the check in time because the room was not ready. No apologies for the delay. After the wait there was additional 10 min wait for someone to go check the room for some reason.
- Josue (10/5): - Food is great but if you don’t pay for the meal package the food can be pretty overpriced
- Sandy (9/5): What a wonderful stay ! - The views, the wide open set up of the resort, the Christmas decorations and ambience in general … so beautiful slow restaurant service and also slow concierge communication
- W (7/5): -
- Joy (9/5): Cahal Pech was a warm, centrally located home base in San Ignacio with exceptional staff, seamless p - Cahal Pech was the perfect place to stay for the San Ignacio portion of our Belize vacation. Situated near the downtown/market area, we were close to everything! Before we even arrived, my communication with Alicia was top tier! She helped make our trip for 11 people simply magical, creating a custom package for our group that included shuttle from Belize City, breakfasts, tours and a fire pit dinner. Her constant communication helped ease my fears traveling to a new city. In fact, ALL STAFF that we interacted with at Cahal Petch were top notch. Regardless of the time of day, the front desk staff were all smiles and happy to help with whatever need we had (an extra blanket, towels, taxi to the market, you name it, they helped!). Joel remained a familiar face each day for our tours and made sure to check in. Speaking of tours, Cahal Petch has found THE BEST tour guides! Erik brought the ATM tour to life for us with his deep knowledge and love for his country. The next day, Ethan shared his love of birds and waterfalls as we toured Caracol and Big Rock Waterfall. Restaurant and bar staff were kind and Israel made a remarkable impression on us as a solo server for our fire pit dinner. While I can't think of anything I didn't like, just a couple of things to keep in mind - the jacuzzi is not heated, the hotel rooms do not have a coffee maker, and the wifi is not very strong - but, why stay in your room on wifi while on vacation? Get out and explore!
- Kristin (10/5): - Tolle Anlage. Gutes Essen. Freundliches Personal Das Take-Away Frühstück ist nicht empfehlenswert
- Keegan (10/5): - The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The property is large with restaurants and 3 pools. You’re on top of the hill so you have excellent views of the valley below. Lots of great food/drink options!
- Shakena (10/5): - I liked everything about my stay. I didn't like that my early check-in wasn't approved and had to wait a couple hours before being able to go into the room.
- Manuela (6/5): Would look for other options - It has a pool, location somewhat central Looks like they are more interested in selling you packages (transport, tours, meals) rather than providing a good service . Internet never worked in our room. The hotel needs a lot more TLC
- Roberts (9/5): -
- Francois (8/5): - The view is incredible.
Bungalow was nice The noise of thé all valley comes thru. Very very noizy.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Jordi (9/5): -
- Eterio (9/5): Excellent stay - Cleanliness and comfort Food and Service
- Martin (9/5): Exceptional experience! - Both the location and the room were amazing! Staff is friendly and super professional. No mini fridge. The pool is too small for a swim and no drinks are allowed either. Room has very small innofensive insects which can be off-putting.
- Boyke (9/5): -
- Ben (7/5): Great view from the hotel, staff were really friednly and helpful. Food wasnt that great - Rooms were clean, amazing view and staff were very friendly. The food
- Shakena (10/5): - I love the view, the different accommodations and the different views from the property and the Café was on point P.s( get the caramel Frappuccino) but overall the stay was worth it. I didn't like that we had to wait from after 11 to 1:30 before we were able to check in the rooms even though we were told that we can check-in early.
- Lotte (8/5): Fijn!
- Ruben (9/5): Heerlijk - Erg vriendelijk hotelpersoneel.

- Douglas Lowe (10/5): Amazing views. Excellent service. Cute cabana. - The location is the best for views of the surrounding country-side and access to the archeological site which is a very short walk from the hotel. Staff were great at the front desk and spoke perfect English and Spanish. The small pools are a lot of fun and the food was very good. Service at the bar and restaurant were excellent and not pushy. We rented a cabana and it was beautiful. We only stayed one night as a transition from Caye Caulker to Tikal.

- Robert (9/5): Nice place to visit the ruins. It’sa bit far from town if that matters - Lovely views of the valley from the resort. Nice pool and restaurant. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very hilly if you have mobility issues.
- Andre-Guy (10/5): Great Cabins! - Really nice and quiet cabins!
- Yoshimi (7/5): -
- Sheri (10/5): - Perfect we loved our stay! Beautiful staff!!
- Diamond (10/5): -
- Aranie (10/5): - I loved how friendly the staff was. They were always there checking up on us.I love resorts that value local guest and treat us like they would treat international, with love.Thank you cahal pech for exceptional service..❤️
- DL MCCUSKER (10/5): - 1) Very clean.
2) Wonderful, friendly staff.
3) Excellent food in the restaurant.
4) Beautiful view over the valley.

- Felipe Sansores (10/5): Great weekend getaway - Spectacular View from the Bungalows
- Silvia (9/5): -
- Jose (10/5): - Beautiful views Waiters are rude.
- Raul (10/5): I will be back to this place and stay in this hotel - Every thing was great. But the food was amazing. Delicious No complaints
- nicole (8/5): Great place to stay while exploring the area! - Separate cabana
Two pools with bar
Views from top of mountain
Across the street from Mayan ruins
Free parking in front We got a cabana farthest from hotel even though closer ones were empty.
- Kim (8/5): - It's always great to stay and relax at Cahal Pech! Nothing
- Nat (9/5): Tranquil - Set in beautiful surroundings of nature. Peaceful sun room attached to bungalows with hammock to relax in. Wifi and aircon worked well. Spare bed linen/blankets available by request from reception if the night time is a bit cooler. Water stations available around the restaurant areas to refill your bottle for free. Fridge in room. Breakfast was good. The walk to main areas of town is 20-30mins. I consider myself pretty fit, no issues walking down, but the hills on the way back are extreme, so you might end up getting taxis back.
The bungalows have thatched roofs and when it rains heavy, lots of bugs fall through (there is a fabric sheet to protect them falling on you whilst you sleep and housekeeping automatically came in to clean them all up)

- Ellie (10/5): Perfect stay with amazing views - We were blown away by the room when we arrived- we stayed in one of the Tiki houses and the veranda with a hammock to sit outside without getting bitten my mosquitos! The room itself was beautifully furnished which made for a lovely romantic stay.
The pools were also great, the moment we arrived after a hot and sticky journey- a dip in the pool was exactly what we needed!
Great location too for fabulous restaurants/bars and of course the Cahal Pech ruins which are next door Absoutely nothing
- Bermudez (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (7/5): Good -
- Olivia (6/5): Pleasant - The room was spacious and beddings were clean. Workers were good, except the ones at reception, they have bad customer service and they don't smile at all. They had no exception to check in early. We got there around 12pm, they stuck to 4om check in. We ordered wings that were served not fully cooked, they did rectify though. The rooms have things walls, we hardly slept as we could hear all the noise from other rooms and worse from the corridor.
- Dietrichard (9/5): Best place to stay and hang out in San Ignacio and great place to enjoy the sunset with a drink - In my opinion, this place is underrated. It is in a great location overviewing the city and a great place to hang out, chill out and relax. The view is nice, it is next to amazing Mayan ruins, the staff is friendly, the restaurant and bar are good, they have a souvenir shop which offers great cappuccino. The lower pool was not very clean when I visited. The upper pool next to the bar was fine. For the facilities to be great a gym would be nice.
- Kristine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leigh (8/5): Very good - Lovely spot with great view. The pool area was awsome and the restaurant area was very nice. We stayed in the cabanas and really enjoyed the space and hammocks Restaurant was a little pricey
- Kelsie (8/5): Very good - The view from our room was so nice! The breakfast could have been a little better - but dinner was delicious!
- Burgess (9/5): 10/10 we’re coming again. - The View Everything was amazing.
- Manali (9/5): Will stay again! - Great location, views, facilities and friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was peaceful. Our cabin was a bit hot but we didn’t mind.
- Bautista (8/5): Very good -
