• Eva (7/5): - very nice food, a lot of animal, 100% for tapirs, real rain forest the room is not possible to close, some windows are opened only with nets, so everything inside you have wet; cable for the money we payd is very expensive and even with guide you will see nothing, cable starts at 10 am and for all the animal is late

• Ann-Sophie (3/5): - The location was ok, although you are off the path, it was still quite a lot of noise from the main road. Could have been great but… Weirdest experience ever. I think we were the only guests. The food was terrible and the room wasn’t really clean. Seemed like a ghost town.

• Dr. Klaus (10/5): Schöne Lodge mitten im Regenwald - Super Lage mitten im Regenwald. Natur pur, viele Tiere, tatsächlich auch Tapire. Sehr ruhig gelegen. Man kann Tag- und Nachttouren durch den Regenwald buchen und es gibt einige Aktivitäten ( siehe Homepage). Die Bettwäsche war nicht sauber, die Matratzen alt und durchgelegen. Das Frühstück könnte besser sein.

• Laurence (4/5): A éviter absolument: trop touristique et accueil antipathique - Rien. L accueul peu sympathique du personnel. Je suis arrivée avant l'heure duvcheck in etvil pleuvait. J'ai attendu 2h au restaurant - qui est très moche et touristique et où la nourriture est mauvaise. Et une fois que c'était 3h, la chambre n était toujours pas prête et la personne à la réception ne me parlait pas alors que j'étais devant elle. Aucune proactivité et aucune sympathie. Le pire accueil du Costa Rica.

• Andrea (6/5): Gute Lage, aber zu teuer. - Die Lage war toll, im Nationalpark. Auch besonders, dass es keine Fensterscheiben, sondern Fliegengitter gibt - die Geräusche des Regenwaldes konnte man beim Einschlafen hören. Sehr klein für 4 Personen. Zu teuer.
• Jurre (6/5): Het is een prima overnachting als je een keer wat leuke activiteiten wilt zien en doen. - Je zit midden in de jungle en hier zijn veel dieren te zien en te horen, ook de nacht safari is een echte aanrader. Wij hebben ons iets verkeken op de accommodatie, het is een soort attractie park waar wat huisjes opstaan wat voor de rest wel prima is maar er is niet heel veel sfeer te beleven. Sommige activiteiten waren wat aan de prijzige kant, vooral de kabelbaan was best duur.

Room is clean basic no frills (like coffee maker etc)small semi detached with a small balcony at the front. There is no A/C in the room just a fan. The room is rather small but for a stay for a couple of nights it was absolutely fine. They offer a night tour which was good. The cafe does not cater for dietary needs and this is a shame.

• Louisa Curry (10/5): Lovely place for wildlife and relaxing - This place is really amazing; large families of coatis are always around and a family of Tapir even popped by. There are plenty of other animals around. The night tour with Marvin was amazing and great value. The aerial tram is really expensive but they let us go on a second time for free! The cabins are nice too. Uber arrives this far which is really useful if you don't drive. Breakfast is nice and substantial. I would have liked some vegan options in the restaurant.

• ChrKr (8/5): Vor der Heimreise lässt sich hier Costa Rica nochmal intensiv "erleben"! - Die Lage hat überrascht - mitten im Wald über eine kleine, enge Zufahrt mit eigenem kleinem Waldstück und kurzen Rundwegen im Wald, die an einigen Stellen zum Verweilen einladen. Ein Tapir besuchte die Anlage und Nasenbären waren aktiv unterwegs. Die Zimmer / Bungalows sind scheinbar renoviert und sauber, die Badzimmer sind sehr einfach aber zweckmäßig mit heißem Wasser. Das Abendessen ist gut und das Frühstück hervorragend. Es wirkt ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen, aber okay! Der Nightwalk sollte von ausgebildeten und motivierten Guides angeboten werden, die sich mit der Tierwelt auskennen. Das schien leider nicht so.

• Katja (8/5): Ein schöner, aber bei gewisser Windrichtung nicht ganz leiser Platz. - Schöne Lodge mitten im Urwald mit kurzen Wanderwegen und Freizeitprogramm. Die Fernstrasse, die 1 Km weit weg ist, ist nachts doch ziemlich laut - je nach Windrichtung. Frühstück kann dauern, weil Gruppenreisen, selbst wenn sie später kommen, „Fast Track“ bedient werden - etwas unerfreulich.

• s (2/5): - J ai vu un tapir mais bien apprivoisé 😔 Ce lodge se veut être dans la nature mais passe juste a côté d'une route sur laquelle circule des camions presque toute la nuit, leur bruit est tel qu' on a l'impression de dormir sur une autoroute !! Le lodge est vieux, les matelas s'enfoncent, j ai dormi dans les ressorts et heureusement que je n ai apparu la couleur du matelas que le lendemain.. De plus l endroit est totalement faux, et nous avons malgré nous, contribué à un tourisme dévastateur de la nature. Une très mauvaise expérience.

• BEKIR FERIDUN (8/5): A wonderful place (if it does not rain!) for nature lovers - The Tapirus lodge is actually situated in an ‘adventure park’ (almost within the borders of the Braulio Carrillo NP) with zip-lines, an aerial tram (US$60 pp!, didn’t do that), restaurant and souvenir shop which gives it a very touristy feel. However, the (only 10) well-designed cabins with large verandas are located along a very quiet trail amidst trees and flowering plants that attract Hummingbirds and other species. You can also visit the butterfly garden (Morpho’s) and the reptiles exhibition (Snakes and frogs). The guided night walk (‘on the doorstep’) was a wonderful and different experience of the jungle. Unfortunately and in spite of the ‘dry season’, it rained heavily through almost all of our 3 night’s stay so we made thankful use of the umbrellas ready waiting in the room. Due to the continuous rainfall, we couldn’t explore and fully appreciate the trails and wildlife on site but the Tapirus showed itself shortly while having dinner in the open-air restaurant. Different breakfast options on offer which could be served with one more slice of bread. Lunch/Dinner options are limited and some choices were not available. We were annoyed by the very demanding style of asking for a prepayment of the total amount about a week prior to arrival and cancellation option and also already guaranteed by credit card. This felt like being scammed and the link provided led us to a very obscure Romanian(!) site. We tried different ways and cards and succeeded in the end after having spent quite some time and nerves.

• Rüdiger (9/5): Klare Empfehlung! Wir würden wieder kommen! - Einfache aber zweckmäßige Unterkunft direkt im Nationalpark. Das Personal ist im Großen und Ganzen sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, die Tierbegegnungen vielfältig. Sehr gut die Versorgung direkt Vorort durch das Restaurant in der Anlage, Qualität, Auswahl und Preis der Versorgung ohne Beanstandung. Gut gepflegten Trails. Sehr angenehm: die Möglichkeit kostenlos Sprudelwasser im Restaurant nachzufüllen, da Leitungswasser nicht trinkbar. Auch toll: die beleuchtete Lockfalle für Insekten. Wir konnten nicht (wie in anderen Bewertungen unserer Ansicht nach fälschlicherweise beschrieben) beobachten, dass Tiere „angefüttert“ werden! Die Haltung der Faultiere, die angeblich nicht mehr ausgewildert werden können (Touristenmagnet?) Obwohl die Unterkunft abgelegen ist Straße lauter LKW-Verkehr von der Nationalstraße. Nicht so wichtig aber trotzdem: Der Roomservice ist unterirdisch! Für die 8 Zimmer teilen sich die scheinbar wenig motivierten Reinigungskräfte die doch recht überschaubare Arbeit so ein, dass sie von früh morgens bis zum späten Nachmittag brauchen! Unser Zimmer wurde dann doch endlich um 16:00 Uhr in Angriff genommen, dabei hat man dann die Bettdecke wieder schön glatt gestrichen, das Laken darunter war unverändert.

• Martin Gilg (9/5): Wunderbarer Aufenthalt im Urwald mit einer Menge "Wildlife": Tarantula, Tapir, Nasenbären, Kolibris. - Die Unterkunft ist einfach aber sauber. Alle Angestellten sind sehr naturbegeistert und freundlich. Die angebotenen Leistungen wie Zip-Line sind top!!! Nichts.

• Stephanie (10/5): - Ich war zum 2. Mal da und wir haben jedes Mal Tapire gesehen, traumhaft! Und viele andere Tiere wie Nasenbären, Ameisenbär, Vögel, Faultiere,.... die Wanderwege sind auch sehr schön. Immer wieder ein Erlebnis wert zu wenig Möglichkeiten um nasse Sachen im Zimmer aufzuhängen.

• Ruben (8/5): Te duur - Prachtige natuur. Johnny is een goede gids. Personeel bij receptie is behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Slechte prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Dieren in kooien; laat ze vrij. Kwaliteit en kwantiteit van het eten laat te wensen over. Restaurantpersoneel mag meer lachen. Gehorige kamers. Kamer werd tussentijds niet schoongemaakt.
• Danielle (8/5): Mooi verblijf midden de natuur. - Leuke 2 onder 1 kap lodge midden in de natuur. De kamer is basic met prima voor verblijf lekkere stoelen op de veranda om op te zitten. Douche warm water. Prachtige omgeving in het groen met gebruik van trails, vlindertuin en kolobrietuin. Restaurant ook in de avond open voor eten let wel voor een flesje cola betaal je 5 dollar! Eten is niet zo absurd geprijsd. Ontbijt in de ochtend keuze uit een aantal opties. Graag had ik een extra deken en kussen in de kamer gehad gezien een gedeelte geen ramen heeft maar gaas was het best fris door de regen. Opvang voor de luiaards vonden wij vergeleken met andere opvangen die hebben gezien niet prettig voelen.

No es que no me gustó, sino una recomendación, talvez tener mini refris en las habitaciones más sabiendo que el agua no es potable (eso creo que no lo mencionan al momento de reservar)

• Annika (8/5): Tolles Hotel mit abenteuerlicher Anreise - Mitten im Nationalpark Braulio Carrillo. Wir haben bei unserer Ankunft sogar direkt einen Tapir vorbeilaufen sehen! Das Personal ist sehr nett und bemüht. Da die Straße zum Nationalpark aufgrund eines Erdrutsches zu der Zeit gesperrt war, mussten wir durch eine Polizeisperre, die aber bereits über unsere Ankunft informiert waren und uns bis zum Hotel durchgelassen haben. War alles super organisiert. Das Zimmer war sauber und geräumig. Mega leckeres Frühstück!!! Und es gab sogar kostenlos auffüllbarer Sprudel im Restaurant! Die Anfahrt bei Tageslicht wird definitiv empfohlen!!! Wir sind bei Dunkelheit und strömendem Regen durch den Nationalpark zur Unterkunft gefahren und es war ein wildes Abenteuer, das ich nicht mehr brauche. Es ist eine gepflasterte, enge Straße, die teilweise über eine Brücke ohne Seitenabsperrung führt. Bei Tageslicht alles kein Problem, aber bei Dunkelheit sehr abenteuerlich. Das Zimmer hatte auf der Rückwand keine Fenster, sondern nur Fliegengitter, sodass es nachts aufgrund der Tiere sehr laut war.

• Aurélie (9/5): Joli hébergement au milieu de la jungle - Emplacement en pleine jungle dans une réserve naturelle. Avoir vu les paresseux recueillis par la réserve (nous sommes passés au moment où ils étaient nourris et l'employé nous a proposé de nous approcher pour les regarder) Les oiseaux autour de la chambre. Les sentiers et les panneaux explicatifs sur la faune et la flore. Le petit déjeuner au choix (les huevos rancheros sont délicieux !)

• HBrann (10/5): Tolle Urwaldlodge mit vielen Tiersichtungen - Wie schon eine Woche zuvor waren wir auch dieses Mal begeistert von der Tapirus Lodge. Schon die Zufahrt ist abenteuerlich über steile Fahrwege mit einer niedrigen Brücke über einen Fluss. Zum Glück sind die Fahrspuren gepflastert, so dass man nicht unbedingt ein Allradfahrzeug braucht. Am Abend hatten wir wieder an der Nachttour teilgenommen und viele Tiere, vor allem Frösche, entdeckt. Aber auch Wolfsspinnen und eine riesige Tarantel waren am Wegesrand zu sehen. Unweit der Rezeption lag eine kleine Lanzenotter unter einem Baum und auch ein Tapir ließ sich sehen. Einfach toll! Wir hatten ein Deluxe- und ein Superior-Zimmer gebucht, wobei das erstere einfach war aber immerhin über einen Safe und Ventilator verfügte. Das Superior-Zimmer mit mehr Platz hatte auch einen Balkon, eine Kaffeemaschine und Kühlschrank, der bereits mit Getränken gefüllt war. Chips und Süßigkeiten standen auch zur Verfügung. Auch das Schmetterlingshaus mit den blauen Morpho-Faltern hatten wir natürlich wieder besucht; die dahinter liegenden Terrarien mit Schlangen und Fröschen gefielen uns weniger. Sollten wir nochmal nach Costa Rica kommen, dann auf jeden Fall nochmal in die Tapirus Lodge! Leider hört man den Verkehr von der recht weit entferntern Nationalstraße 32 besonders dann, wenn die Trucks ihre Motorbremse nutzen, auch in der Nacht. Diese N32 hat man mitten durch den Nationalpark geschlagen; sie ist die Hauptverbindung zwischen San José und der Karibik mit sehr viel Verkehr, Auf der Rückfahrt zum Flughafen standen wir dann wegen Baumfällungen über eine Stunde im Stau.

• Sonja (10/5): - Wat een heerlijk verblijf bij Tapirus. Het erg vriendelijke personeel (Michelle nog bedankt voor jouw hulp bij het aanleggen van het verband), de nachttour en de plek waren allemaal top.In eerste instantie dacht ik dat het iets teveel een pretpark zou zijn maar de ligging, de dieren (Tapir, Toekans, miereneter, spinnen, kikkers, slangen enz.) die we in het wild hebben gezien waren buitengewoon. De huisjes zijn erg schoon en hebben ramen waardoor we de Tapir konden spotten die in het bos erachter liep. Wel handig als je een auto hebt i.v.m. de weg ernaartoe. Ik ben geen fan van dierentuinen dus de hokken met slangen en kikkers had niet gehoeven. Er was wel een opvang voor luiaards dus die kon je hierdoor goed zien.

• AliciaEx (10/5): Superó las expectativas - El lugar es un paraíso. Las habitaciones son muy bonitas y cómodas y tienen naturaleza alrededor. Acceso libre a las caminatas y al mariposario y a exposición de ranas y serpientes. Ofrecen tour nocturno que hicimos con Marvin y fue genial. Vimos el tapir o danta! El precio del teleférico es desorbitado.

• Thomas (10/5): Wo Tapir sich und Grüne Aras Gute Nacht sagen - Wir waren überrascht von der Lage der Lodge am Rande und doch mitten im Dschungel, schon direkt am Parkplatz „begrüsste“ uns ein kleiner Ameisenbär und wir wurden ausgesprochen warm und freundlich begrüsst. Die Unterkunft selber war ein geräumiges Holzhaus mit grossem Badezimmer und Dusche, einer Kaffeemaschine und dem direkten Blick in den dichten Wald voller Leben. Das angeschlossene Restaurant zeigte für unsere Familie einen super Service, sehr leckeres Essen (was für eine leckere Ceviche!) und eine megafreundliche Bedienung. Wir waren an dem Abend die Einzigen Gäste. Wir konnten uns frei bewegen und haben die Seilbahn in und über den Baumkronen des Waldes genossen. Abends schaute an dem Restaurant noch ein Tapir vorbei und krönte damit unsere vielfältigen Tierbeobachtungen auf das Beste. Wir hätten uns mehr Zeit nehmen sollen und länger bleiben.
• Tenille (8/5): Enjoyable nature break in the rainforest - Location amidst rainforest, excellent birdwatching particularly for hummingbirds and amazing to seeing wild tapir wandering around the lodge entrance. Tasty food. Friendly helpful staff. The room was pretty functional but fine, great powerful hot shower and comfy bed. The noise insulation from neighbouring rooms - could hear our neighbours chatting away. The sloth enclosure looked sad and dark. A bird flew into the snake enclosure windows whilst we were stood nearby due to the sun / reflection on the window and died on impact - they need to do something to stop this e.g stickers on windows

• CARINE (10/5): Lieu magique au cœur de la forêt tropicale. Dépaysement total. - Ce lieu est magnifique. Vous dormez au cœur d une belle forêt tropicale. C est une expérience unique à recommander si vous faites un séjour au costa rica. Je suis restée 3 nuits. Vous déconnectez. Je conseille la sortie nocturne, j ai vu un tapir et beaucoup d animaux. La chambre est parfaite et très propre. Les restaurant est top avec des produits frais, les prix sont vraiment corrects. Je remercie le personnel qui est vraiment gentil, accueillant avec le sourire. Ils m ont aidé pour retourner à San José. A mon prochain séjour au Costa rica j y retourne pour 3 nuits. C est vraiment pas cher car la prestation est de qualité. Nada

• Antonio (7/5): - La magnífica ubicación, los senderos que tiene donde puedes disfrutar de la flora y la fauna. Las caballas en plena naturaleza. El baño de la cabaña muy antiguo, necesita reforma. Había algunos insectos muertos, con pinta de llevar muertos en la habitación bastante tiempo. No había papel higiénico en el baño.
• miriam (8/5): Leuk midden in de natuur - De avondtour was erg leuk. Eten was geweldig. Toekans en kolibries elke ochtend voor de deur. Tapir 1x gezien. Veel andere dieren ook. Kamer is erg klein. Het eerste plaatje van booking klopt niet. De kabelbaan erg duur. Uitzicht wel oke, terrasje voor de kamer erg klein.

Great reptile walk at night, and Tapirs walking across the lodge was fantastic! • Thomas (10/5): Totally recommended to break up a journey heading east from San Jose - A fantastic place to stay to break up a journey from San Jose to either rafting on the Pacuare River or to the Caribbean coast. Comfortable accommodation right on the edge of the Braulio Carillo national park - you definitely are in the forest. Lovely staff and good food. Unfortunately we didn’t enough time to do any organised activities but saw tapirs, butterflies, bird life, frogs, etc regardless.
• Anne Laure (8/5): Super - Le parc est incroyable, avec les tapirs que l’on peut croiser à tout moment, le personnel est adorable , nous étions plongés dans la nature. Le restaurant ! À part le petit déjeuner qui était correct le reste n’était pas terrible.

• David (8/5): Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Fantastic Frogs. - Good breakfast. Excellent location on the edge of the rain forest. The highlight was the Frogs and Snakes night walk which was fantastic! Evening meals not very inspiring. Aerial tram ride was good but rather expensive.

• Rona (8/5): Perfect place to view wildlife - The lodge is deep in the rainforest with lots of wildlife around - we had a wonderful couple of nights here. In contrast to some reviews we found the bungalows to be very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Lovely balconies to watch humming birds on. They advise getting your drinking water from the fountain in the restaurant as the room water is not safe to drink, so bring bottles. The reception / car park area is excellent for wildlife spotting and we saw tapirs, tamandua, toucans and a whole family of coatis. There’s also a tree there full of the delightful sounds of the yellow tailed oropendola. The forest walkway is lovely, very easy on concrete walkways and has a good hide where we watched coatis. Breakfast is excellent but more coffee and toast would have been much appreciated. Road is one way controlled by security at each end. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We would have liked to have gone on the canopy ride but it was far too expensive.
• Christopher (9/5): Comfortable accomodation surrounded by excellent wildlife and rainforest - A great outfit surrounded by superb rainforest and wildlife. Friendly staff and a clean room with the sounds of the rainforest for extra ambience. Wildlife walks, including a night walk with the excellent James, and the aerial tram were top notch. Highly recommend.
