dalau2026 (8/5): Pluses and minuses - Great location—very near tram which takes you to many choices of stores, eateries, etc. Staff was great; polite and responsive to needs. Resort is beautiful but I do question how well it’s being maintained. We were in a studio which is one of the smallest units we’ve ever stayed in. There was no dresser & only three tiny drawers in the wardrobe. You could probably hang 8 items or so in the closet/wardrobe so we pretty much lived out of our suitcases while there. With a sofa bed, this room in theory sleeps 4, but I don’t see how! The “kitchenette” consisted of a fridge, small microwave, dishwasher, & sink. They also provided a coffee maker & toaster as well as silverware and place settings. There is virtually no workspace & the two person table is at the other end of the room. It’s almost impossible to do more than warm up leftovers or do microwave popcorn. The first night the phone in our room did not work, making it impossible to communicate with the front desk or anyone else. They resolved that issue with a new phone, which solved the problem. The light in our refrigerator didn’t work. They also replaced that, but it was burned out again the next day. Engineering said there was a short and that nothing could be done about it so we lived with no overhead lighting in the kitchen area & a dark refrigerator. Not good! The next day our dishwasher wouldn’t work, but engineering was able to fix it. No paper towels were provided. When I asked for some, I was told they were out! Unbelievable! My final complaint is with the laundry room, and I use the word “room” loosely! The space is so small a person can’t go in it & shut the door! I had to stand in the doorway to put clothes in or out of the stackable washer and dryer. It was nice to have the free laundry facilities, but what a ridiculous set up! As I said previously, this is a beautiful hotel, but just not up to the standards one would expect.

The restaurant options in the hotel, the pool bar excluded, were absolutely terrible. Beyond bad in fact, so much so that many people were heard complaining. And, yes with us complaining also. Other than. The food however a really great place with friendly staff and a great cocktail bar.

Nicole (7/5): - I liked the foyer area , the pool area was nice and our room was nice the views were amazing, we had a king suite , lounge , kitchenette, king bed , Bath with the most amazing views I wasn't impressed that after paying $2700 for 3 days of accommodation , I had to pay extra for parking And I wasn't aware there was a security deposit of $100 per day of stay. I would have thought a five-star resort would have a shop, so guests could get anything they had forgotten or souvenirs and not have to leave the property. I didn't like the room on the 19th floor, because our booking was for 2 adults and 2 x 4 yrs old boys, wasn't very relaxing feeling having little kids on the 19th floor 😆

Sujith (9/5): A perfect family stay with beautiful rooms, an amazing beach pool, and fantastic water rides for kids at JW Marriott Gol - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at JW Marriott Gold Coast. From the moment we arrived, everything about the experience felt premium and welcoming. The service was exceptional – every staff member was warm, attentive and genuinely caring. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained with stunning views. The natural beach pool was absolutely stunning and felt like a luxury tropical escape right in the heart of the city. A special mention to the water rides for kids — they were an absolute hit with our child and kept her entertained for hours. It made the stay extra special for our family.

max736 (8/5): Great rooms and facilities but some shortcomings - We loved the newly renovated rooms - they are nicer than official pictures on the hotel website, and they look more like a luxury hotel room than a vacation club unit. Actually, the whole hotel is renovated so the facilities are all nice, including the gym with all new equipment and the common areas which are modern and upscale. The pools are great as everyone knows. You can expect a very good hard product here. Some shortcomings with the soft products though -first, we did not like the food. Breakfast was chaotic and I felt the quality of the offerings could be better (also, real coffees are not included in the price). Dinner was disappointing too. High prices and pretty looking dishes but somehow a letdown. Service at the hotel could have been better - for example there was a duplicate charge on our folio which we had to bring to the front desk's attention to get removed. Also, we called for help with the baggage but after 30 min no one showed up so we just dragged the stuff down ourselves. If anyone is wondering whether to choose the JW side or the vacation club side - can't see any reason to pay more for the JW! If anything, the mini kitchen in the vacation club rooms make them better.

Thank you for making my mum and sister’s birthdays amazing. The pool was great, the kids loved it We had asked for a-joining rooms and they told us they were, when we got to the rooms and found out they were not. Called reception to get that sorted but they told us they could not as the a-joining room was booked. They could have told us the truth when checking in. It was disappointing for the kids and to keep going out and round to the next room as a family with young kids was not convenient at all.

Louisa Francesca (2/5): - Extremely late 5.15pm to receive our room key. Run down broken tiles around the pool. Chips and empty glasses in and out of the pool area. Terrible beds . Terrible pillows . Will never stay here again . Needs some major TLC .

Claribel (10/5): - The salt water pool was a unique experience! It was amazing. Loved the river pool and the slide! The spa was a little too small. Facilities was clean and staff was very helpful and accommodating. Checking in and out was a breeze! Parking was free! Buffet breakfast great! Our room had the lagoon/beach view! The facility is very family-friendly! Only thing we didn’t like, was someone was smoking above us and the cigarette butt was thrown down to our balcony!

Greg072 (4/5): Terrible experience - Construction work in room next to hours -blocked corridors- poor breakfast experience - Well I always wondered how just a few people tend to have terrible experience sat accommodations. Now I know!! We are local to the Marriott and deiced to celebrate my 79th Birthday at the Hotel stay overnight with breakfast included. Sounds Good !! Read on. Firstly the actual property and outside areas are superb and the customer facing staff hugely friendly and helpful and the first day was good. But DAY TWO !!!!!! OK down for our include breakfast and the first think that struck us was how busy the restaurant was and how many noisy and disruptive families when having breakfast. So spotted a small table for two by the window and asked the hotel staff if we could sit in that quiet spot. They said yes and guide us to the nice quiet spot but what happens next. Well the same staff member now seats a large family with lots of noisy young children, etc throwing items on the floor etc, next to us !!!!!!!!!! Anyway lets get dine. Crikey the fried eggs are burnt at the edges and look awful the bacon is a jumble of cooked, uncooked and perfectly cooked pieces, the Hash Brown are like cardboard. This really is two star fare not five star fare. Marriott for goodness sake offer your guest a Family and Child free area in which to have a relaxing breakfast. Anyway pretty awful experience so we escaped back to our room only to find that the Hotel was doing MAINTENANCE in the room joining ours so lot of hammering and drilling, AGGGH !!! Marriott do not star hammering and drilling until your paying guest have checked out !!!!!!! So once again we are driven out of the location so packed quickly and left the room only to find the corridor fully blocked my large heavy maintenance trolleys so we could not even leave the hotel. So back to our room to ring reception to arrange to have the BARICADE cleared so that we could actually check out. Don't know about you but for over $600 a nigh we do not expect to be subjected to the Hotel staff hammering and drilling in the adjoining room ?? Got to hand it to the Marriott in that I don't think that they could have done anything else to make our day more unpleasant.

Mel (10/5): Fabulous family vacation, 5 star experience - LOVED EVERYTHING about our stay here. Fantastic facilities, so much fun for the whole family. Spacious enough, access to the pools, restaurants and beautiful lobby area all fab. Access to the beach easy too. LOVE IT will be back

jwjg (10/5): Great service, lovely hotel - What an excellent hotel. Despite being a large hotel and completely full, the service levels didn’t drop and we had a lovely stay. The hotel is a large resort and our rooms were an interconnected single room and one bedroom apartment giving plenty of space for our family of five. The rooms were clean and modern and with a simple kitchenette. It would have been ideal to have more cooking facilities as only a microwave was available but it was nice to be able to make simple things for our boys. The hotel has a lovely pool area with a lagoon pool with fish in it which the kids can snorkel to see and a heated pool which is ideal for the winter months where the water temperature drops a bit. At the time of writing the hotel had 2 restaurants, one very large which serves an excellent and very efficient breakfast. The main thing to call out though was the uniformly high standard of service from all the staff we encountered who were very well trained and helpful. As a family with young children we often used in-room dining and this was always prompt, hot and good quality. The hotel is not in the heart of the action at Surfers Paradise but is a good 15-20 minute walk away. That didn’t bother us and the proximity to the shops and restaurants at Main Beach was handy. We had a great stay and would definitely choose this hotel for a family vacation again.

Anna (8/5): Very good - Loved the location and the amenities on site! It was close to trams and the beach, and the rooms were clean and tidy. I rated slightly lower only because of the bed. It felt a bit sunken in and uncomfortable considering how much you were paying. I would have expected a firmer mattress/pillow.
Wilson (10/5): The Marriott - a head above the rest! - Our small family spent two nights at The Marriott and we could not have been happier. From the minute you walk in, you feel pampered and looked after. Every staff member was delightful, the facilities were fantastic and the room was modern & clean. The pool areas was a highlight for all of us. We will be back! Everything was fantastic!
