Guest Reviews
- Abigail (10/5): - The hosts were so nice and provided us with everything we would need. They gave us an amazing list of recommendations of things to do in the area. And we even ordered breakfast from them one morning and it was AMAZING! Such an amazing place to stay in San Ignacio.
- Astrid (10/5): - Super nice and friendly hosts, a large and clean cabin, and a lovely environment.
- Amy (9/5): - Juliet and Tony are very welcoming hosts and took time to offer advice on things to do, local restaurants, reliable taxis etc., which was much appreciated. Their homemade breakfasts, complete with fresh juice and even some homegrown ingredients, were all delicious! The bed was super comfortable, and we slept very peacefully every night.
Santa Elena is convenient for exploring lots of the nearby sights, including the ATM cave, Xunantunich, Tikal, Big Rock Falls, Caracol… We booked a couple of tours and the tour operators picked us up from Santa Cruz Cabins. There are some food places and shops within walking distance, and it was easy to book taxis if you wanted to go further afield, but we would recommend having a hire car for easier access to other amenities and sights. The fact that Santa Cruz Cabins are in a quiet neighbourhood up a hill is one of the main perks! Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Great place, great food, great service - Juliet and Tony were so helpful before and during our stay. The place is very peaceful but close enough to town do access everything. Room was clean, food was awesome. Everything was great. In order to make it perfect it could have a fan in the outdoor area of the room as it was a beautiful place to sit.
- Kimberley (10/5): Amazing - Everything! Beautiful location, comfy and clean rooms and close to town via a taxi. Juliet and Tony were so lovely and helpful, and went out of their way to make your trip what you want it to be. Such a relaxing spot, highly recommend. Nothing!
- Scott (10/5): Excellent Hosts! Awesome experience. - The hosts Juliet and Tony are most gracious, and helpful. The hand prepared breakfast was wonderful! Fresh fruits, juices and authentic flavors are outstanding.
- Cesare (10/5): - Nice cabins, very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the screened in veranda with the hammock.
- Marij (10/5): -
- Dawn (10/5): Incredibly wonderful hosts. Fabulous Belizean breakfasts. Great recommendations for taxi, restaurants and sights. - Location was perfect.
Minutes from town. Just a short taxi ride. Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Fantastisch - Mooie, schone en modern afgewerkte cabin gelegen in de natuur. Rustig.
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful cabin, very well equipped, super clean and comfortable with a stunning terrace. The view and surrounding gardens are a haven. We were on foot so had to rely on transfers and taxis although we did walk to and from San Ignacio a couple of times.
- Cynthia (10/5): The best part of the stay was hands down Toni and Juliet!!! They are the most amazing hosts and went above and beyond to - It was secluded and felt like we were in the jungle! Was lush all around Just be aware of the steps! There are some steps to get to the cabins ( which they tell you when you are booking) and then up to the cabins themselves:
- Joshua (10/5): Tranquil and lovely stay - The owners were so warm and friendly, they made us feel right at home. They had great recommendations for food, transport, laundry and anything required. The cabin was absolutely spotless and honestly one of the cleanest places we have stayed in. I love that they even sanitized high-touch areas like the remote controls and door knobs etc. On one of the days, the wind blew in some leaves and dirt onto our patio, and they promptly cleaned it up. Do yourself a favour and also add on the breakfast on your patio, it was delicious! The property was located out of town, but you wouldn’t really want to stay in town anyway. It was easy to get a cab into town and back, or we walked back sometimes. Nothing at all
- Vibhu (10/5): Most friendly and family like - Juliet and Tony were amazing host. Very helpful, communicative and friendly. Undoubtedly the best hospitality.
- Nadim (10/5): Excellent start and amazing host. Modern cabins in the jungle with all the modern amenities. Get the breakfast! AMAZING -
- Olga (9/5): -
- A. Dekkers (10/5): Aanrader - Wat een lieve gastvrije mensen. Een mooi en comfortabel huisje. Het ontbijt was lekker en echt een genietmoment op de ruime veranda. Het is een cadeautje om hier te verblijven.
- Heather (10/5): I would highly recommend both the property and the staff to anyone looking for a place to stay in San Ignacio. - Very clean, spacious, comfortable beds, white linens (😍), and the owners had amazing hospitality.
- Kassandra (10/5): - The hosts were so kind and thoughtful and their cooking was AMAZING!! The view into the jungle is indescribable and the room was the perfect size.
- Rebekah (10/5): - Julieta and Tony were personable, gracious hosts; the cabin was comfortable and well-equipped. I especially enjoyed the complimentary local coffee to be enjoyed sitting on the screened porch, high in the trees with bird song.
- Justyn (10/5): Beautiful - Very spacious and clean. The hostess was so sweet and made us the best breakfast! Restaurants are very close by. We loved it!
- Ferri (10/5): My boys and I loved staying here. - Great room, great location, friendly owners, amazing breakfast. The big hill to get up was not paved. It was not an issue unless it rains. But the cabin on top of this hill gives it spectacular views.
- Jody (10/5): Stay here! This is Belizian hospitality at its best. - The hosts were amazing and so welcoming. The cabin was spacious with a refrigerator which was great for the hot days. A water jug was provided for drinking water. The breakfasts prepared by Juliet cannot be beat. The ingredients she used were local and she accommodated our request for whatever time we asked. Very memorable. The beds and pillows were the best I’ve slept in, and I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels and AirBnBs. Nothing. It was perfect.
- Humberto (10/5): - Spacious room with a great views of property. Quite and relaxing. Amazing property management.
- Amy (10/5): Super hosts and amazing cabin - The cabin was exceptionally clean and had everything one needs for a stay near San Ignacio. Juliet and Tony were fantastic hosts, finding us tours, recommending great local eats and were available at all times when we had questions. They made us feel right at home. The breakfast prepared was delicious and was super special as they served us right on the covered porch as we watched the birds. We really loved our stay and would recommend to fellow travelers.
- Metzger (10/5): Thank you so much, we loved every moment! - Beautiful, easy access, hosts were outstanding, breakfast was amazing - truly exceptional place and wonderful stay.
- Robert (10/5): Above the noise of the City. Quick taxi ride to anywhere in twin cities - Thankful to be above the noise of the twin cities San Ignacio & Santa Elana. The air conditioning (efficient heat pump) was a rare treat and we slept exceptionally well. The transfers to and from cabin were easy with the hosts assisting us with our heavy bag. We appreciated getting breakfast at 6:15am and the mid day quiet during our naps after our ATM cave excursion. Fantastic place - big, bug free, refreshing. Note, if you use the "first sign" to get in and out of taxi's there is a hill between the road and the cabins. Oh, Awesome shower too!
- Brian (10/5): - Very clean cabin with amenities--fridge and cooking supplies. Screened in porch providing excellent view. For the enterprising you can walk into town easy enough that feels safe during the daytime. San Ignacio is a brisk 25 minute walk downhill. Hosts very friendly, helpful, and communicative.
- Isha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurie (10/5): Paradise - Could not be better! Tony and Juliet are the most wonderful hosts I have ever encountered. Be sure to order the home-cooked breakfasts. Resting in the hammock on the screened porch with amazing views was heaven. The cabins have all you need - tub, microwave, full-size fridge, full water jug, comfy bed, beautiful local paintings. The perfect jumping off point for our San Ignacio adventures. Convenient to everything, yet felt like you were in the jungle. Nothing!
- Kathy (10/5): - We loved the cabin! Super clean! Close to area excursions and town. Loved sitting on the screened porch and watching the birds!
- Jutta (10/5): - It‘s a remote, wonderful, peaceful place with the most amazing hosts.
Julia & Toni went up and beyond to make us feel welcome. They give you tip where to eat, the next ATM or supermarket, organize drivers or tour guides.
And upon request Julia makes the most amazing breakfast and brings it to the balkony of your cabin.
The views from the cabanas are stunning.
There‘s everything in the cabin you might need, microwave, fridge, coffee… and it‘s spotless clean.
In total, leaving makes you want to come back! Thank you, Julia & Toni, for making our stay wonderful <3
- Ophelia (9/5): Beautiful people, lovely experience. - Juliet and her husband are lovely who made our stay very enjoyable, they friends and very helpful in every way! They made good recommendations for food and attractions and the place is an experience. The roads could use some fixing, however the limestone bedrock makes it hard to maintain in their defense. Definitely getting 4x4 next time.
- Brynn (10/5): - Juliet and Tony were the most amazing hosts. They make you feel welcome and like family. Their breakfasts with homemade Hibiscus juice and Jamaican Lime juice were delicious and refreshing. The only downfall was the climb up to the cabins, our little rental car was chugging along. I’d suggest renting a 4x4.. otherwise we can’t say anything but good things about Santa Cruz Cabins. Hopefully you get a visit from their pups while staying here :)
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice place. Breakfast was awesome. Host & Hostess were great people.
- Linda (10/5): Absolutely Recommended! - Absolutely wonderful place and the owners, Juliet and Tony, went above and beyond to be helpful and make us feel welcome. Probably the best Booking/Airbnb hosts I've ever had. The cabins are spacious, modern and spotlessly clean with comfy beds and efficient air conditioning. And the hammock... I don't think there's a better way to spend an afternoon! The cabins are on a hillside and it was a bit of a challenge to navigate the road or walk up but once the roadwork by the county is finished, it'll be much easier.
- Paul (10/5): Great spot for visiting San Ignacio and area - Excellent location for seeing the sights around San Ignacio. Hosts were very welcoming and the homemade breakfasts were incredible. Cabins are large and spacious with a screened porch. Access to the cabins requires a four wheel drive with food clearance. Otherwise, you need to park near the entrance and walk up. The hosts are helpful getting you to the cabins using their vehicle if needed. We made it every time with a Jeep Compass 4wd.
- Susannah (10/5): Exceptional - The site was beautiful and the hosts were incredibly hospitable. Also, delicious food.
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic stay with great hosts, excellent food, and comfy cabins - Great stay - Juliet and Tony were great hosts and the food was delicious. The cabins were very cozy and the views were beautiful in a relaxing area away from the bustle of the main city. Tours also had the location available as an option for pickup
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were amazing! So warm, so accommodating and so informative. The views are so beautiful.
- Simon (10/5): Great cozy cabin in a woods with delicious breakfast. - Owners were couple of great hosts/people. NA
- Maggie (9/5): Superb - Juliette and Tony are so lovely! Amazing hosts for introducing us to Belize and have many recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area and around. Breakfasts were delicious and local. Rooms are well equipped and are clean and spacious! Take in the view relaxing on the hammock from the hilltop cabana!
- Caitlin (9/5): Superb -
- Blake (10/5): - Stay here! The owner operators are two of the kindest most genuine people we’ve met while traveling. From the time we arrived to when we left they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The cabins and the property are beautiful and well maintained. The location was a perfect home base for golfing, visiting ruins, kayaking, horseback riding and exploring Belize's Wild West. I cannot say enough good about Juliette, Raphael and their family.
- Stacey (10/5): Exceptional - Juliet and Tony are amazing hosts and the cabin is beautiful. We enjoyed Juliet’s breakfasts on the scenic balcony while bird watching. Even the toucans graced us with their presence. A great location to many of the sites and jungle.
- Itziar (9/5): Superb - Our hosts are really charm and helpful.
Don't miss the homemade breakfast (authentic local food).
The place is very relaxing and you are like in the middle of the jungle, you can see many kinds of exotics birds... If you are lucky, even toucans. We had a hired car, so we did not have problems at all, but you need to go up the hill to get there.
Anyway, the hosts are always available to help with that or any other thing you need.
- Jesus (10/5): Awesom!!! - I don't think you could find better host. When we arrived we were "clients". When we left, we felt like family. You have to try their breakfest. The sauce was amazing. Hibiscus tea was refreshing. Thank you very much!!!
- Cheyenne (10/5): Beauty and hospitality all in one jungle cabin. Our favorite place to stay in Belize! - Beautiful location close to town but it felt as if you were in the jungle away from it all. Juliette and Tony were wonderful and excellent hosts and chefs! We also enjoyed tours with “Fry Jack”. He was extremely knowledgeable, fun and personable. Zero complaints! I wish we could have stayed longer!
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - A great place to stay. The cabins are very elegant and comfortable. The staff are so helpful and welcoming. We highly recommend.
- Brooks (10/5): Quiet getaway minutes from all the fun action of town. - Seemingly secluded (quiet) up in the hills but very close to town. Surrounded by birds and nature. Town is pretty loud and it was great to be able to come back after a fund day of activities to quiet and air conditioning! As well, managers were incredible- responsive, helpful, and available at all times. nothing
- Catrina (10/5): Incredible experience - The owners were unbelievably kind and friendly and made the stay such a joy. They even helped us resolve challenges with our tour company. The location is a little out of the way, but very peaceful.
- Rebecca (10/5): - We had an amazing time at the Santa Cruz cabins! Our hosts were so kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Do yourself a favor and get Juliette’s breakfast. Fresh, delicious, and a perfect way to start your day.
- Jack (10/5): Fantastic and unique. Would highly recommend - We had such an amazing stay with Juliet and Tony. We stayed in one of their treehouses and it was fantastic. We loved the large balcony/porch which was enclosed with mosquito net so we could enjoy all the nature without the bugs!
They were so very welcoming, from helping us with our luggage on the first day to bringing us truly delicious and different homegrown breakfasts each morning - including Tony’s homemade hibiscus juice, which was very tasty and refreshing. They were also very happy to give us recommendations and even just have a nice chat. Incredible hospitality.
The treehouse was well kitted out, with a comfy bed, very nice furnishings and plenty of space.
It is quite a steep walk up the drive, but that’s a small price to pay for the views and experience of being amongst the trees.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - I can't say enough about this property! Our tree top cabana was lovely and the view was beautiful. Our hosts were wonderful and gave us all kinds of advice for what to see and do. Don't skip the breakfasts!! Juliet's breakfasts were some of the best food we had on our trip.
- Daniele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sina (10/5): The most perfect and magical place - It was by far the most perfect place we ever stayed in. The cabins are incredibly beautiful, the view is amazing and the whole place is just magical. You can get an amazing breakfast delivered to your veranda and the owners are so friendly that you feel right at home. We can just recommend everyone to stay here - we wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you for everything :) There is nothing to not like!
- Ryan (10/5): Breakfast on the jungle porch - Juliet and Tony are the ultimate hosts. Their attention to detail is incredible. They were welcoming and knowledgeable. The cabins are clean and the ac worked well. Do not miss out on breakfast! For a small fee, Juliet will cook you a Belizean breakfast you won’t forget! You can eat breakfast on your screened in porch, as you watch the toucans, monkeys and various birds. Nothing! Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer!
- Wiencek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (9/5): Relaxing stay close to everything but in your own little perserve - Wonderful hillside cabin right in the town, spotless and cofortable. Good birding right from your hammock in the screened in porch. Heard toucans every morning (though I didn't spot them). Excellent hosts, welcoming and helpful. Good local food pretty close by. Breakfast a little spendy but very good local foods. A little expensive for a cabin without a full kitchen. No refillable five gallon jug water dispenser to refill your water bottle, disposable plastic bottles (1 gallon and 12 oz) instead.
- Hannah (10/5): Delicious breakfasts, wonderful hosts, beautiful cabin! - I stayed at Santa Cruz Cabins with two of my friends and we had a wonderful stay! The cabin was super comfy and clean but the highlight was definitely the hosts, Tony and Juliet. They were so welcoming and provided us with tons of really useful information on the area. The cabins are about a 30 minute walk from San Ignacio but as 3 young women we felt safe walking to and from the town along the main road both during the day and in the evenings. The highlight was the home-cooked, local breakfasts made by Tony and Juliet every morning. They brought them right up to our cabin to enjoy on the screened in porch and explained all the local ingredients and dishes that they prepared. If you are planning any trips/tours around San Ignacio definitely reach out to Tony and Juliet and they can connect you with really reliable transport, guides, etc.
- John (10/5): Awesome cabin - Tony and Juliette are wonderful host. My wife and i only stayed 2 nights, but we wish we would have stayed longer. Great breakfast too.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - This place was amazing. The owners live on site with their rescue dogs and take so much care to make sure you are comfortable.
- Chia (10/5): A hidden treasure - The Santa Cruz Cabin is a hidden treasure of the San Ignacio area. Four cabanas built with love and care. The owners, Tony and Juliet are informative, friendly and make us feel like a part of family. They shared their experiences, other guests' feedbacks to help us arrange our activities. The homemade breakfast was amazing, use all local ingrediencies and packed with flavors. My favorite spot is the patio where I sat and listening to birds and enjoying the views of the city. It is a dream setting and we hope to return soon.
- Charlie (10/5): perfect place to stay away from the hubbub of San Ignacio - Everything. The cabin and facilities as everything had been thought of. lovely hosts and their dogs. Fabulous views Delicious breakfast. they use lots of stuff they grow. the hibiscus tea is delicious. lots of useful local information. really responsive to our questions. very solicitous when my husband was unwell and gave us some fresh coconut water. loved the hardwood floors and comfortable bed. lots of lovely towels too slightly challenging drive or walk up but then again that’s why the views are so fabulous
- Cole (10/5): Perfect Stay near San Ignacio - Beautiful property but we really enjoyed meeting the hosts, Tony and Juliet. Great conversations and recommendations. Delicious breakfast every morning nothing
- Brooke (10/5): Exceptional - A fantastic venue and even better host! A big thanks to Juliet and her lovely family for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to eat her delicious food!
- Martin (10/5): The stay was enhanced by the hosts, Juliet and Tony, desire to provide any support requested, going out of their way to - The peace and quiet, the friendly hosts, the outlook, the birds…. In short; all of it As a couple more advanced in age, the journey down from and up to the cabin could be taxing but even so the effort was more than rewarded
- Chelsea (10/5): Perfect home away from home! - Juliet and Tony were one of the best hosts that we’ve ever had. They were friendly, incredibly helpful and always available to assist and provide local recommendations. Their cabins are beautifully constructed and family owned. I would highly recommend these cabins for anyone visiting this beautiful country. A bottle opener would have been helpful! But I have nothing negative to say!
- Marco (10/5): - Giuliette and Tony have been amazing hosts. The place is gorgeous and the local breakfast prepared by Giuliette is something special
