- Kate (10/5): - Clean, well set up. Lovely staff, very affordable. Highly recommend.
- Rigg (9/5): A good pub hotel. - Polite and friendly service provided by the staff members. It was great to have a good size sink in the room. We were very happy with the food served in the restaurant. No aircon.
- Marianne and Allan (3/5): Great location, have stayed there before but it has gone downhill - Did not have breakfast , dinner was fine but concerned about the state of the kitchen after seeing the filth upstairs, location is great, right in rhe centre of the village and our breakfast next door in Kummies Kitchen was perfect and the Cafe spotless The place was filthy upstairs
- Shaun (8/5): Loved it. Staff and food was excellent. - Nightly prices were on special so I was able to stay for two nights for the price of one. Pretty smart if you think about it because I ended up buying two main meals, two entrées, and two nights of drinks for what it would have cost me for one night. Hotels need to have a serious think about their nightly charges. If they bust you out of the paddock with their bed charge then you are more likely to spend almost nothing at the hotel and instead go to the golden arches. No complaints about the room or its cleanliness! I was there in winter and the only form of heating was an oil radiator. It was 1 deg C for the two nights so I left it on and by the second day it was very comfortable.
- Marianne and Allan (2/5): Staff friendly, facilities FILTHY - The location is great It was filthy, you could grow potatoes on the carpet, the bins in the toilets upstairs were overflowing, the fridge in our room contained a mouldy half eaten sandwich, some deli meat that was green, a half can of Bundy rum, the kitchen area upstairs where there was a microwave had all food scraps over the benches and on the floor, it looked like nothing had been vaccuumed or dusted for years, our dinner was acceptable but having seen the state of upstairs we were concerned about the state of the kitchen and the hygiene practices in place, would never consider staying there again and would advise no- one to stay there if they were concerned about their health
- Charlee (8/5): - Rooms were small
- Rahul (2/5): -
- Blake (5/5): -
- steve (7/5): Pleasant enough - Like staying in old pubs Shared kitchen was a mess - couldn't even make a coffee. Had to wait well over an hour for our dinner.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Patricia (8/5): - A fan or air conditioning unit would make a big difference when the weather is too hot.
- Anthony (9/5): Great for one night - Location Shared bathroom

- Sharon (1/5): DONT STAY HERE !!! - Nothing The room opened to an enclosed balcony that was covered in rubbish and someones hanging laundry. Someone went out there and smoked, when there is no smoking on the premises st all and it came into my room. Someone also was playing music at about 1am in the morning for about 2 has. People where screaming out for them to turn it off and I banged on their door. But it kept going. I was going to ring and complain when I left the next day and ask for a refund. But it took all my strength just to stay awake on my 5hr drive home. The place smelt. There was no air or windows in the room that's why I had the door open to the disgusting balcony. I would never recommend it to anyone!!!
- Mark (7/5): -
- Kai (7/5): - Men's toilet was absolutely disgusting
- Reynalyn (2/5): -
- Warwick (3/5): Great spot, extremely unhygienic. - It was in a suitable location It was filthy. No airconditioning to rooms, so the room got down to 2 degrees C. Floor was filthy and toilet(shared) was without TP and filthy. Definately did not even try the shower.
Avoid.
- Zhan (10/5): -
- Lorraine (2/5): Very miserable - Close to cafes Dirty, no electric blankets, cold,
- Casey (7/5): -
- Lynette Mclachlan (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Kurtis (7/5): -
- James (6/5): Poor choice - Location if your in guyra Place needs a total refit as old and rough and smelly.
- Shae (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): One night stand - Location and friendly locals No heating in room and Guyra is very cold.
- Kelso (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thane (2/5): Very poor - Food Room
- Paul (9/5): Superb - The owner gave us additional savings on our costs
Meals and service brilliant. .
All round pleasant stay. N/A
- Adams (1/5): Unsatisfied and felt ever so slightly unsafe - The fact that it is the hotel is just to begin with located in the town of Guyra, New South Wales, where I grew up in and around, so as such was able to visit the friend that I was in fact there to see. The pub room was clean and comfortable and came for a good price and had its own TV. As previously stated in my review email to booking.com.; the fact that the publican whom I dealt with upon check-in, seemed to be taking what I would deem as an an extremely rude, nasty, mean minded, hostile and even borderline threatening attitude towards me, as was greatly exemplified by his telling me in his own words whilst checking in at the bar that if I did not place the room key in the door keyhole, he would have to: COME AFTER ME FOR THEM 🙁
- John (10/5): Exceptional - The property was fully booked with no vacancies but still being offered by Booking.com. Proprietor phoned me to explain the problem and arranged accommodation at Walcha. Fantastic service by him as no vacancies anywhere on highway between Tamworth and Glen Innes due to flooding. This operator knows the true meaning of customer service
- Lambert (2/5): No - No Comfort
- Dave (7/5): Great for short stays and great feed - Clean room - comfortable bed. Meet needs of work travel. Pub food really good - great steak and Nepalese dumplings.
Rooms are clean and tidy and meet my needs - no en-suite shared bathroom just down hallway - but clean and tidy
- Hans (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Susheela (6/5): - The property does not have A/C. There is only one bathroom for all rooms
- Nell (8/5): Lovely stay at the Royal Hotel - The room was a good size. It contained a small wardrobe, a blanket box, a vanity with a mirror, bedside tables and lamps above each. The bed was comfortable, and you could open the window, which had a screen on it.
The shared bathroom and toilet were clean and very adequate. At night, the hallway was lit by a sensor light, so no problems with fumbling in the dark.
The meals were well priced and very tasty, and the fireplace was lovely to sit near while eating dinner and relaxing afterwards with a glass of wine.
Parking was either behind the pub (limited) or out front on the street. I can't think of anything.
- Christine (1/5): Read the other reviews. Don’t bother using Booking.com as they don’t honour it - Nothing!! I wouldn’t be able to comment as our booking was cancelled 24 hours before our stay. We received an email from the Royal Hotel telling us “ please cancel no rooms available”. We had previously booked the room 1 week in advance. Very disappointing for us as we know there is basically no accommodation in Guyra. We were left in the lurch.
It would appear they found a better offer . Monetary I guess!!
- Blake (10/5): Exceptional - The food and hospitality was exceptional! Clean and accommodating room and amenities. I'll stay here again.
- Addz (7/5): Good -
- Phillip (10/5): - Friendly manager and staff. Great location
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Pedro (7/5): Great value. Showers a little dodgy - Very cheap but don’t book at the counter as they will try to charge more than the price you can get on booking Really it’s all about value for money. It’s hard to criticise when it’s this cheap
- Joanne (6/5): It was adequate for the price and we only needed a few hours sleep to break a long drive - Price was good. Bed was comfortable and warm. Not great facilities. Shower is over a very deep bath. Only 1 shower and toilet. Paper thin walls, we had VERY noisy neighbours
- Scott (9/5): An excellent home away from home in a honest Aussie country pub. - The Royal Hotel is a honest country pub, offers good value for the traveller. Food was great, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing and the staff accommodating. Throughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you to the crew at the Royal Hotel The rear parking could have been more secure, but I can see it’s work in progress.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (1/5): The hotel was double booked and didn’t have a room for me. - The hotel was double booked and didn’t have a room for me.
- Peter (1/5): Bad -
- Phil (4/5): Ok, suited my requirements - Only thing available
- John (10/5): - Very good
- Terry (8/5): - I don’t smoke and there was a smell of old cigarette smoke at times
- John (2/5): - The bathrooms and toilets were filthy, the only thing clean was the bed sheets. The beer in the bar was cold.
- Darren (7/5): Good -
- Grant (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (7/5): Good -
- Jason (4/5): Very disappointed with their lack of service given I’d confirmed booking before arrival. - Location is central. Clean enough. Stuffed up our booking and apparently most other peoples booking as well.
Booked a room with 2 single beds, confirmed booking the week before our stay and was told all good, but on arrival they only had a room with a queen bed available for 2 guys. I showed them my booking and just got a blank look and no explanation as to what had happened, so we shared the bed as we had little choice as it was too late to book anything else in town.
- Brian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ahmad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narelle (8/5): Good stay. I meant to contact the manager re the hot water. Hopefully it has been reported and fixed - Delightful staff/manager, Clean, pleasantly appointed room. Cold shower in men’s shower.
- Fang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Great stay - Clean and comfortable Very friendly staff
- Ron (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Room facilities Men's toilet was not operational
- Michele (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jean (4/5): We took it in our stride and acknowledge that they are trying to upgrade but a way to go yet - Location and price ok
Sheets and bathroom were clean Carpet was very old and very musty. Attached shared kitchen was a disgrace
- Russell (6/5): Good value for money. I enjoyed the historic aspect of the town and the old hotel building. - No brekkie. bathroom facilities still a work in progress
- David (8/5): hidden gem - great food including free bar snacks during happy hour beer was so cheap during happy hour that I drank far too quickly and consumed too much. Ha Ha!!
- Michael (8/5): - Good priced clean old pub.
- Kerrie (5/5): Wouldn’t stay again. - The beer was cheap at the pub downstairs. The shared shower was dirty. There were no windows to let air into the bedroom.
- John (1/5): Rude staff and dirty rooms - The town was nice, the hotel and staff weren't! Staff were rude and the place is a dump. Rooms were tiny and smelled. The bed spread had a massive stain on it (I don't even want to think about what it was!). The corridor was blocked up with bags and bags of laundry. I wasn't expecting the Four Seasons obviously for the price but at least be friendly and keep the place clean.
- Dirk (7/5): Good -
- Kristy (8/5): Very good - Clean n tidy quiet and very comfy bed
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Luke (1/5): Bad - The pub is closed
- Keresi (10/5): Exceptional -

- Robert (5/5): Passable -
- Rosemary (8/5): Comfortable, friendly staff - nicely renovated Having to go around to the back steps to get in
- Bertz (6/5): Pleasant -
- David (7/5): Lovely old country pub. Good honest accommodation/ lovely bar and bistro - Centrally located for the week for my work travel.
Right next door to a great bakery and cafe in the morning. The renovated bar / bistro area was lovely .
Bistro was only open from Wednesday even onwards - had dinner there one night and steak was really good and very reasonable. Men’s shared bathroom needed a clean each day. But was adequate for my travel needs.
- Bill (1/5): Bad - The hotel was closed. It had been sold and the new owners were nowhere to be seen.
- Wayne (1/5): Royal Hotel maybe if it was "OPEN" - Booked to stay there. Turned up to stay hotel is shut and not a person in site. Tried ring Mobile message Optus regrets number not connected. Tried ring the hotel number several times to no avail. Very poor service. Could have notified us to let us know. Would never RECOMMEND.
- Charlee (10/5): Perfect - Staff were very welcoming and friendly
Bar and lounge it self were stunning Rooms need abit of updating that’s about it
- Jacob (9/5): Superb -
- Adrian (7/5): Clean room good for a quick stopover. - Clean room and easy to find. The booking was made for a room with an en suite. On arrival I was told none of the rooms had this it was a mistake stake on the bookings app.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Manpreet (1/5): Bad - I don't like anything about this hotel. because I booked 2 rooms and after few hours I tried to change booked dates and I send mail as well but I didn't receiver any reply from hotel. Many times I tried to call them but no body answered and I tried to leave the voice msg but after that I did not get any reply. Guyra hotel do not care about the value of People's time. Until the last time I tried to contact them But they did not reply and when I reach there Then I booked another hotel. Thank god I got room in another hotel if I couldn't then I had to sleep on the road.
- Gavin (5/5): Passable - Well this was an average stay. But.... we were the tourist who invaded the town on an inkling of snow.. so they were super busy. So the owner after all of our experiences was very helpful 1. Arrived said we didn't have a booking even though they have replied to a msg via bookings.com website
2. The room was dirty when they did find a room
3. Dinner took over x2 hours but that was due to town being inundated with tourists. Locals pitched in to serve behind bar, clear tables
4. Excuses were provided a lot, when really only wanted answers or ways to resolve issues
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
