Guest Reviews
- Robert (5/5): Not up to snuff for the price point - Great remote location, great infrastructures (buildings, rooms, walkways, dock). Good transfers from Manaus (two vans and two speedboats each way) that feel part of the adventure. Comfortable beds. Availability of rooms with AC. Kudos to Isaac who was a very informative guide. Value for money is where it falls short. For a high end, premium priced resort, compared to similarly priced resorts we have visited around the world, Juma crashes and burns on the service aspects. Food is consistently bland, hot dishes are served cold or lukewarm at best, and has induced digestive issues in everyone in our party. At that price point, you also get charged extra for any alcoholic beverages, clashing with the common practice of all inclusive resorts of offering free local beers and spirits and charging for fancier stuff. Hosting an international clientele, it is rather surprising that most of the staff has very limited capabilities in the English language, which in turn becomes a barrier in getting/offering service. Maybe because of this language barrier, vast majority of staff are zero forthcoming and don’t seem customer focused at all. Meal times are set at 7AM, noon and 7PM, for a fixed period of one hour each. You feel hounded and rushed thru the meals, with waitstaff being too keen to take plates away. You are also invited to leave the dining room after the set period of one hour, which trains you to make meal times a come in/eat quickly/get out kind of drill. Wifi is available (good thing) only in the reception area (not so good thing, considering the price point of this resort). All in all, at this price, we expected to be delighted. We were definitely not.

O check-out é cedo, às 8h30. Apesar de entender a proposta da experiência ecológica, senti falta de ar-condicionado para dormir.
- Joanne (8/5): Trips could have allowed more quiet time. Trips could have been more flexible - Lovely location Nothing
- Niclas (10/5): -
- Lesley (8/5): First trip to the Amazon: restful but not really exciting. - Beautiful bungalows in the trees (we had extra large with aircon; activities; most food; guide; mosquito free zone; efficient transfers. Lake water pool not pleasant for swimming; not lucky enough to see any wildlife.
- Donald (9/5): Ralf’s knowledge of the plants, animals and people of the Amazon really made our visit great! - The setting is incredible and the ecological considerations are impressive.
The food is very good and the staff is friendly and helpful. Our guide, Ralf was exceptional!! We had one small problem with a ceiling fan not working.
- cibele (7/5): Local maravilhoso hotel exótico - Não tem ar condicionado
Limpeza do quarto passa muito tarde
Colchão muito mole
Sem internet nos quartos
- Iris Winona (9/5): - Essen fantastisch. Personal super! Keine Moskitonetze
- Mulcahy (10/5): A really special place - Marcos our guide was fabulous. He never seemed to stop working and nothing was too much trouble. He was so knowledgeable about nature We liked everything
- visionsx (10/5): Einfach nur ein Traum - Alles.
Es war einfach nur perfekt.
Personal, Lage, Guides, Touren, Essen...

- Knut (10/5): Amazing stay for an Amazon experience - Everything was perfect. From the reception at the airport, the transport to the lodge and the stay itself. A great experience! Our bungalow was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with both fans and air conditioning. All meals in the restaurant exceeded our expectations, and the guided tours / excursions were great. Highly recommended! Nothing.
- Lesley (9/5): A fully immersive and fascinating three days, in comfortable accommodation, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Highl - Remote location, intimate size so you felt like a guest, very friendly staff. Very comfortable beds Some of the furniture was rather uncomfortable, chairs quite awkward to sit on comfortably and very heavy to move/reposition. I managed to injure myself a few times tripping over bits that were sticking out - but perhaps I’m just not careful enough!!!
- Iriet (10/5): Amazing and would recommend highly - The lodge was in a magical spot with activities organized throughout the day. The food was amazing and the staff very and knowledgeable So long as you realize you ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE everything was good
- Radhey (10/5): All good food excellent beer and wine with Dinner should be included in the price - All and everything Laundry when wet in rains facility to dry
- Xixi (1/5): Bad - I was bitten all over by bed bugs in the hotel! Avoid this place at all costs!
Guys, I've really had the worst luck recently. My hotel stay turned into a living nightmare! I must strongly warn you all to stay away from [Hotel Name]!
💥A Hygiene Disaster Zone
On the night of check - in, I found a whole bunch of bed bugs and cockroaches crawling around the room. My scalp tingled with horror right then. But I was so exhausted after a long day that I thought I'd just make do for the night. However, when I woke up the next day, my body was covered in bite marks and I had an allergic reaction. It was unbearably itchy and I was on the verge of a breakdown.
- Gretchen (10/5): Exceptional - Juma Amazon Lodge is an amazing experience! The guides are great, facilities are wonderful and eco-friendly, and the activities are memorable. Guest need to plan ahead and make sure they have the right clothing and items for being in the Jungle hiking and boating. I will be visiting again! It's a jungle, so bugs are always a thing but cannot really be helped. Also, the hotel rooms could do with some more drying racks/lines for drying clothes.
- Quirine (9/5): Incredible amazon experience with lots of great tours at a beautiful lodge - We had an amazing stay at Juma Lodge, which started right away with the transfer to get there. This was already an experience with beautiful sceneries and the opportunity to spot dolphins, if you are lucky.
The level of comfort was incredible and unlike we could have expected being in the Amazon. There was nothing more we could have wished for. The staff members were very nice and helpful, and the lodge itself is very beautiful. We were explained it is built according to local tradition, which made it even more special. The cabins were very comfortable and we had a nice view over the river. Also, being able to swin in the Amazon river was a memorable experience. There was even a WiFi connection, for those wondering.
Our guide, Ralf, was super knowledgable, spoke excellemt English and went out of his way to ensure a great experience. He was able to tell us many interesting facts about the land, trees, wildlife and way of living of the local people. Our stay was short but our guide went out of his way to make sure we were able to do all the activities. We enjoyed the different experiences and we were able to ask many questions.
Lastly, the food was very good. There were all kinds of fresh fruits and juices, very tasty fish, tapioca pancakes, soups and salads. Our guide made sure we got a taste of all the local products as well, telling us interesting facts about how all of it is grown and made.
All in all, we had an incredible stay and would highly recommend staying at Juma Lodge. On arrival we learnt that we had to leave early in the morning on our last day. Since we arrived in the afternoon, and were only staying for two nights, we wanted to make the most out of our stay and booked an afternoon private transfer. We would advise you to keep the scheduled arrival and departure times of the lodge in mind or to communicate with the staff about your wish to defer from them.
- Fernando (10/5): Best place to get a glimpse of the Amazon - Location
Food
Excursions
Service Maybe too much rain?
- Gregory (6/5): Disappointing hotel vs. expectations and price - Location in the middle of nature Activities are overrated/disappointing and not matching description (2 or 3 are nice out of 6) neither matching expectations for this type of hotel range/price. Few examples : 3 hours of boat to see 1 tree ( while similar trees are closed to the hotel) and we pass by this tree on The way in and out to the hotel. Another example: visit of indigenous village is a joke as no one is leaving in this place where 1 house was built to showcase for tourists, no authenticity at all, etc..
No flexibility at all from the manager on site who did not even speak to any of us during these 3 days ( except at check out to pay) while there are only 40 customers at any time
There were different families and small groups traveling together and everyone had similar feedback.
We have done similar holidays in different countries and this hotel is way overpriced vs what it truly delivers
- Pierre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guido (9/5): Wonderful lodge in the middle of the jungle - Beautiful location, great staff, very comfortable rooms, excellent food! A dream location to explore the area. P Nothing, all was good. We stayed 2 nights which seemed right but unfortunately you then have to leave very early the 3rd day so you only really have 1,5 day at the lodge….
- Amrin (8/5): Very good - The excursions, staff, food, layout, beautiful scenery were all amazing and breath taking.
The warm welcoming and hospitality was exceptional.
Such a beautiful destination and the decor was amazing. The only down fall was that not all the rooms had air conditioning. This was only an issue because of how extremely hot you get there. They provide fans but it was not enough. They did advise that they are planning to get air con in all the rooms next year, but if you are planning to visit before please be aware not all the rooms have air con...please check before booking.
- Carolina (9/5): Unforgettable experience in the jungle - Love the location in the middle of the jungle and the chalets over water. It was amazing to see animals through the elevated platform. Also loved having the tours all pre-planned and organised. It was an amazing family holiday with kids!
- Jorge (9/5): Superb -
- Jovana (10/5): It was a dream. - Everything, especially the people who worked there. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Renato (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the staff is super friendly, the food is good with a mix from regional and international cuisine, the tours are breathtaking. Don’t miss sunrises and sunsets!
- Inger (10/5): This is paradise. - Fantastic holiday. We went to Juma in 2009, and have always wanted to go back. We love this place and hope to come back soon again. It is expensive but we enjoyed every minute. This time we had an amazing guide, Ralph, who made this stay even better than the first time we visited. Everything was perfect.
- Maritess (8/5): Very good -
- Hiltong (10/5): Awesome jungle experience! - The location is phenomenal. staff is very friendly and helpful. guides are extremely knowledgeable. Excursions were perfect, not too hard or too boring. Jungle is hot and muggy, but it’s the jungle!
- Sarah1387 (4/5): Disappointed, not worth the price - The location is great but 2 nights was enough. I stayed 3 and ended up doing the same activities on 3rd day The bed wasn't comfy I understand it's a remote location but I don't understand why the mattress and pillow were so uncomfortable. There were no-one to staff the pool so couldn't order drinks. Pool towels had holes in them and no cushions were provided for the wooden sunbeds.
The balcony furniture in the deluxe room could have been better. Just one wooden chair with no cushion and one hammock.
Food foe vegetarian consisted of pasta most nights. Not a good selection of fruits for breakfast.
We were not offered coffee on arrival in the morning.
- Jamal (10/5): 10/10 - We not only had the best experience but Nelson our guide went above and beyond to fulfil a wish I had to play football with the locals! I had Nelson recommended by a friend and I was not disappointed. He was so personable, great guide and he became a friend, he also speaks brilliant English. I would suggest anyone reading this asks for Nelson. My partner and I are travelling on a budget, but we knew we had to tour the Amazon and it’s the best money we have spent on our 6 month South American tour so far. We have both promised we would go back and we will, but for longer than four days this time! The property was amazing, and the experience was incredible, best money I’ve ever spent. 10/10, I would suggest asking for Nelson if you are going to book but regardless the experience is incredible.
- Shotocris (10/5): Excellent - Amazing place – both nature and Juma Lodge. People are wonderful and attentive. There are plenty of activities, including tree climbing.
And the guide, Herman, he is the best!! He knows everything and the trips were super nice.
For me, even the way to get there was super, there was no time to get bored.
- Connie (10/5): Enchanting - This was a very memorable place. The location on the Juma river was breathtaking with the entire lodge built above the tree line. The bungalows are rustic but very comfortable. The buffet styled restaurant served the best we had eaten in Brazil, with lots of choice in both international and local dishes. Staff is very accommodating, friendly and work hard to ensure the guests are enjoying themselves.
We were very busy going on wonderful daily excursions with an extremely knowledgeable guide. We spent 5 days here and our guide was Nelson who spoke English was amazing. We went on jungle hikes, canoed, fished for piranhas, saw tons of birds, caimans, and other animals. We liked everything here.
- David (10/5): Experience was brilliant so much to do in so little time - Everything was great.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heike (1/5): Noisy group experience - absolutely NO privacy - Location itself is remote, some of the bungalows have privacy, others dont Absolutely NO privacy in the restaurant - all completely a group experience with other peoples nasty and yelling children in a place that should be remote and secluded and tranquil. None of this. NO private excursions - everything group excursions and even after asking and offering to pay nothing available. Accommodation exotic (on stilts) but basic.
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Geetha (10/5): We have had many wildlife / nature holidays. This was one of the my bestnature holiday - The stay, the surroundings, the staff - all very good.
Ralph, our tour guide, was excellent. Wishing him and his family an amazing future. Food- need better vegetarian options
