Guest Reviews
- Michael (7/5): Great place for mobile tourists looking to stay in trastevere - The location is the best aspect. The location is not ideal for travel to Rome by train, and it was not close to the neighborhood I had to work in, but it is right on the edge of the center of trastevere. Trastevere is generally not that accessible for visitors to Rome, as there is no metro stop. So I knew what I was getting into. If you are not willing to fork out money for a taxi, you can get there by taking a couple buses and trams, with perhaps a bit of walking. (Of course, the public transport in Rome is not as reliable as it used to be...). So, if you want to stay in trastevere and know how to get around town, this is a great place for visitors! The self check-in was great for being able to arrive at any time and not hassle with a person during check-in. But the instructions were not very clear. They were incomplete and the Italian was incorrect ("prima" + verb = "first do this", but the instructions said "prima di" + verb, which means "before doing this".) So it took me a long time to get the app to open the main gate by trying to follow the instructions as provided to me. Then the instructions did not properly indicate which entrance to use in the courtyard, how to open the building entrance, and how to access the keys once at the door to the partment. Once you figure it all out, it is obvious, but the instructions are not written for anyone who has never used this specific app and procedure to check in before. Honestly, I now have mixed feelings about Rome banning self check-in in the future!
The bed in my room was also not very comfortable.
The first night, after I returned from dinner, I took my shoes off and stepped into a huge puddle of water which covered about 1/3 of the bedroom floor. The water seemed to be coming from underneath the wardrobe. The base of the wadrobe had clearly absorbed a lot of water, and it seemed that there was also past water damage. So this may have happened before. This did not ruin my stay, as I am very flexible about such things, and fortunately it did not happen again after I used one of the provided towels to dry up the water and prevent more from spreading. But, I felt that the owner or property manager or whomever I had been corresponding with prior to check-in should have replied to my message through Booking.com. They had replied to my previous messages. But over a month later now and I still have not received a reply to my message about a leak in the room, which at first seemed might something somewhat serious.
