Bonne connexion wifi
- Ole Kristian (10/5): A safe place - I had a wonderful time at Kayan Guest House, which provided everything I needed for a budget-friendly stay. Staying on Elephantine Island was pleasant, and I liked coming back to the quiet village after a day outdoors. The best part was the breakfast included, which gave me plenty of energy for the day ahead. Don't forget to tip the lady who prepares the breakfast. Unfortunately, I fell victim to a scam on the island, where I paid 2000 EGP for a trip to Abu Simbel, unaware that the guesthouse offered the same tour for half the price. Scams and people taking advantage of you occur in Aswan, just like in Luxor. However, I managed to visit all the museums and sites I had planned. This hostel felt like a safe haven for me. I had some trouble with the locks, and a few mosquitoes got in at night, but this is pretty normal along the Nile. I was happy with my stay.

Aceptable. Cerca del muelle.
- Nilden (10/5): - It's amazing place, very helpful people, more than nice island
- Sergio (8/5): - La habitación es muy cómoda. Cama y almohadas cómodas. Pequeña mesa y una silla para trabajar. Wifi estable.
- Herve (6/5): - L organisation du voyage a Abou simbel était annonce A25 euros(possibilité moins cher ailleurs) et a passe a 35 euros . J ai refuse de payer le supplément.
- Horn99 (8/5): - Quite good for two nights.
Very authentic Nubian style.
- Aliaa (10/5): - Everything, the location is the best on the island. Everything is close to you. Wonderful staff. Clean and nice rooms :) Good breakfast 👌 Nothing

- ana luiza (10/5): - The property is very simple and in a quiet area. The internet is suuuuuuper good! I work online and i could have video calls with no issues ( with is very hard in egypt). I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something peaceful
- Keith (8/5): Budget, authentic stay. I felt like a local. - Aswan is a base to see many Egyptian sites. Elephantine Island is rustic, charming, and very local. This is not a resort area… it is for experiencing travel and local culture. The area is quiet and I slept well. Very nice people and next door to BobMarley restaurant and bar with rooftop views of the Nile. Great location. The pillow cases were beautiful and had great Nubian designs but they were of a rough and uncomfortable material. I removed one to sleep.
- Krzysztof (10/5): - Super Besitzer

Ich empfehle
- Lucie (10/5): i really enjoyed my stay and would recommend 100%! also the breakfast was very nice! - it was very clean, at very calm place and the people were very nice and welcoming
- Hannah (7/5): Good - It was a nice location and I liked the Bob Marley place for dinner and breakfast in the morning. The ac didn’t work which was very difficult since it was 43 degrees that day. Kitchen and fridge were questionable.
- Ibrahim (8/5): Great Value for Money - Good value for money and the family are very sweet.
- Mariza (8/5): Elefantine's best choice! - They make all the efforts for you to feel comfortable, they arrange tours and provide breakfast and someone to go with you to the ferry if you are going 430am to Abu Simbel.
The only thing that you should make sure is ask all the pertinent questions to the owner via WhatsApp. I found the people at the next door property (where they serve breakfast and have the washing machine) are not always well informed or so kind as the owner. He really is a very very caring human being.
- Masoud (10/5): Very quite - It is such a quiet property on an island. You won't hear the car's horn anymore. You will experience a rural life.
- Philip (8/5): Cheap and cheerful - Great place to stay and get no hassle, just wish you didn’t have to wait for chef to wake up for breakfast so mean hour but good when it came
- Maria (9/5): Superb - The owner was really helpful. The location is very close to the ferry station KFC.
- Sacha (10/5): Exceptional - Great welcoming, everything was perfect
- Yinjie (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is very helpful. Thank you.
- Cornelis (8/5): Very friendly host, and elefant island is a must to visit - Location and wifi Matras is hard
- Harry (8/5): Very good -
- Larisa (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay on Elephantine Island, very close to the pier, restaurants and shops. Big room and comfortable beds. Fernanda was so nice and helpful, cooked amazing breakfast every morning, always asking what I wanted to have and preparing takeaway breakfast when I travelled to Abu Simbel early in the morning. She also organised barbecue for us and showed me around the city. Mohammed was also very kind, he helped me to organise trips and invited us to his boat. I ended up staying much longer than I initially intended because it felt like home.
- Luiz (10/5): Best of the best, thank you Fernanda for making my trip extra special! - Humble house in quiet and native nubian environment, absolutely clean with amazing pillows! Everything simple but fully working, duche, shower, bed… both Mohammad and Fernanda are simply amazing hosts! Fernanda prepared sandwiches for me, arranged tours, made sure all was perfect to me with the best prices possible! We even had an amazing farewell BBQ! ~ doors need a bit of OIL :)
- Ezzeldin (9/5): Superb - Good location, friendly people ,quiet neighborhoods
- Misti (3/5): This property owner is no where to be found. Nobody is checking in or out guests but the cleaning la - We liked the Bob Marley cafe next door. The food was fantastic! Nobody was on the property to check us in. We never got WiFi or the password, the shower is over the toilet,
- Bhallamudi (8/5): Amazing Stay on the Elephentine Island - The staff was humble and ready for help. They even allowed me to come late at night to the place. I was there for 3 days and everyday the breakfast was different and tasty. We (me and another lady from the same hotel) took an Abu Simbel trip arranged by the hotel and they charged us USD 30 for it, whereas others on the same trip were charged USD 20pp only. If the hotel person charged us a high price intentionally, then it's not good for their future reputation.
- Zefir (10/5): Definitely a good option to stay in Aswan - The place is quite and peaceful, the owner is a very nice person Nothing
- Márcio (7/5): The room is simple but clean and confortable - We stayed here for three nights. The guest house is in the elephantine island, so you have to take the public ferry boat to cross (wich is just 10 pounds for person) and is a 2 min walk from the guest house. The island is very nice and the boat cross to, so staying there was a plus. The room is simple but clean and confortable and the breakfast was taken in the Bob Marley restaurant. No toilet paper and the shower is really small without a dedicated space, but is as shown on the pictures.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Breakfast with Fernanda was spectacular. The shower didnt drain and the pillow cases were a bit unconfortable.
- Rasha (3/5): Poor -
- Ibrahim (8/5): Very good -
- Nik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irakli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kacper (3/5): Poor - The description on booking is incorrect in some places, the room was not ready for my arrival, the internet did not work, and the owner did not care about anything at all, he showed up only on the last day to take money for the stay. I do not recommend.
- Emir (10/5): Exceptional -
- 8nc (8/5): Very good - next to Bob Marley hostel. Easy to find. clean bed and clean room. no AC inly fans. No one stays in reception. when you check in or out, you need to text the host to make someone come.
- Emir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janina (8/5): Very good -
- Ezgi (10/5): Great - Nice Nothing
- Piyush (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing property at amazing location, the host is very helpful and friendly. He takes care of the guest like his own family.
- Nikolas (9/5): Superb - Very clean , the quickest wifi i had in all Egypt , Mohammad arranged my trip to Abu Simbel for a good price and also prepared breakfast to have in my journey , thank you brother , I totally recommend this place . The bathroom is small but this is not a problem for a backpacker.
- Tony9510 (10/5): Exceptional - A nice place to stay on Elephantine Island. Has a kitchen to cook your own food. Nothing to complain about. ☺️☺️☺️
- Piyush (10/5): Exceptional - Loved my stay at Kayan Guest house, the host is amazing. He helps you with all your needs.
- Chloé (4/5): It doesn't correspond to the description at all - The host is really nice. It is absolutely not like in the description. No pool, no washing machine, etc. The room is filled with mosquitoes.
- Kate (8/5): Great location and breakfast with amazing views over the Nile! - Great location with nice free breakfast. The views from the shared terrace are beautiful. Basic facilities but great value for money. The air con & fan were also great to have.
- Abdulrahman (9/5): Superb -
- Benjamin (8/5): Convenient and comfy stay with good WiFi - Clean room. The bed is comfy. The location can easily be reached by foot. You simply take the ferry at the KFC and from there you can walk to the location. Mohammed did respond very quickly to messages. There was a problem with the light and the shower head in the shower, but Mohammed helped to quickly resolve both issues.
The WiFi was very good and easy to connect to.
Price per value is very good.
Overall thank you Mohammed for the pleasant stay :) The room is very small. Just a bed and a chair. No way to hang up towels for drying. The rooftop is easily reachable but is not very inviting. We didn't use the rooftop much.
The shared kitchen is not very clean.
You can hear you neighbours talking.
- Mohammed (7/5): Good -
- Pavlo (10/5): Exceptional - Private room with the bathroom, it was clean and comfortable.
- Carlos (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - It was a nice, quiet, relaxing place. The owner is very nice and does his best to make sure that you have a good stay. It is very clean and the bed is comfortable. It is close to the ferry. Nothing
- Ahmed (10/5): Super cool, nice, cozy, comfortable, relaxing .. such a great experience - Such a wonderful location directly on the Nile view on Aswan island .. easy to reach and so close to the ferry station’KFC station’ which is so close to the train station .. i got a free room upgrade which made my stay absolutely amazing .. thank you Ali & Mohamed for the great hospitality Nothing at all
- Chandrakant (9/5): Superb -
- Ahmed (7/5): Nice owner - very helpful and polite owner, good location Very budget accommodation
- Willibrordus (9/5): Lowbudget but surprisingly good - Elephantine Island has a lot of guesthouses, new and long standing. Kayan is one of the newer places, still in the proces of building more rooms. It's friendly, it's small, and at less than 10€ a day including breakfast it's a bargain. Very nice bed, bathroom pretty small but okay, cozy little room. Right next to the well known Bob Marley's, but when google maps tells you it's on the right side it's actually on the left side. The guesthouses on the banks, especially those on the west side of the island offer stunning views on the Nile. Kayak guesthouse is situated more inland, the shielded windows offer no views.
- Youngjin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Kayan guest house in the elephantine island in front of Aswan is the perfect place if you want to relax and chill, out of the noise and chaos of the city.
Nubian culture, kind and friendly people, good food all around.
Boats cross the Nile all day long for a cheap price.
The host is super nice and helpful, always ready to help.
Absolutely cool place, will come back for sure!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - This is a quite modest place but you have everything you need. And the most important thing in guesthouses is a host. He is as helpful as possible. Location is quiet in compare with Aswan. Here you can relax and enjoy pravicy Bathroom is a small. Everything will be wet there after you take a shower. But it is not a problem for this price
- Elke (8/5): Excellent value for money! - I had the room with only a fan / no AC. In November you don’t need AC it’s cool enough with the fan. For the price I paid this room was the BEST VALUE I have ever had traveling. The women that work / clean the place are lovely! If people are leaving early or getting in late, you will hear them (not the properties fault). For some reason google maps thinks this property is Bob Marley Guesthouse (30 metres away) so had a bit of trouble finding it (but that’s probably my fault!)
- Yaa (9/5): Superb - I loved, loved, loooooved everything about my stay. The room and bed was comfortable. The washroom was clean. There was hot water flowing from the shower. There was tissue in the washroom (toilet). The staff are so helpful and nice too.
In fact, I will definitely recommend Kayan Guest House. It's no wonder they have such a good rating. I didn't like that there was no internet. I had to get my own internet connection, but at the price of the rooms, it's understandable.
- Vliplim (8/5): Very good -
- Carina (10/5): The place to be in Aswan - Location. You are in a Nubian village. You notice the difference directly when you cross to the other side. The people in the island are super friendly.
It's clean. You have all you need.
Next to Bob Marley where you are gonna have the best dinner in Aswan. It takes time to prepare the food, but it's an island. You are there to relax. Not to rush. Nothing.
You don't have Nil view from the room, but from the Rooftop bar where you go to have breakfast and where you can dinner
- Abdelrahman (8/5): Very good -
- Kaito (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (7/5): A very pleasant change of pace and scene after a Nile Cruise - This is the annex to the Bob Marley guest house. It doesn't look like much yet (half built) - but the inside it is perfectly comfortable. The WIFI eventually worked fine. And you're just next door to Bob Marley. A rather long climb takes you up to the roof terrace, where there's a nice breezy view over the Nile to Aswan town. And nice food and cold beer. My friend said the chicken curry was the best thing he'd had in Egypt (and that after a 5* Nile Cruise). Elephantine Island is a taste of a Nubian village - dirt tracks winding through houses of very different types from traditional to modern, and past small farming plots. Don't miss the archaeological site on the south end of the island. Hotel staff very helpful getting us a taxi to Abu Simbel, and ensured we had water taxis over to town when we needed them, incl 4.45 am! The bathroom is a bit over-small - you have to shower sitting on the toilet, basically. WIFI access could have been better. A heavy suitcase on wheels was a bit of a liability getting down the dirt lanes to the hotel, but help came to hand! Really, for the price, was fine, and v pleasantly hippie/quirky.
- Alex (4/5): Poor - Clean, good location, comfy bed, fast wifi(when working) Miscommunication about tour arrangement with no apology. Host unavailable. Wifi not working for ~5 hours. No view, no swimming pool, no terrace.(as advertised) Air-conditioning dripped onto the bed. Shower above the toilet.(Very tiny bathroom)
- Osama (9/5): Superb - Staff are polite and helpful
Room is comfortable and clean
Very close to the nile River no view but it is close Ac is good but neet some service to be more colder when it is hot
- Takumi (10/5): I am so satisfied - Everything was clean that gave me great sleep
- Dina (10/5): Beautiful place with all the facilities and marvelous people. Mohamed is very kind, welcoming and helpful. Felt like hom - Everything Nothing
- Mohamed (10/5): Love it - Loved the room ... comfy bed with private showerroom/toilet ... lovely island and the owner is so lovely Wish I stayed longer
- Tomoyo (10/5): Exceptional - It was a very nice hotel. The staff are very cheerful and funny!
- Abdesslam (10/5): My stay in Mohamed’s place was pretty nice. Mohamed is one of the kindest hosts I have ever met during my trips. He help - Very clean and steady Nothing
- Amir (9/5): Cozy - Very cozy place, it’s just a 3 room apartment where I was the only customer during my stay, clean room with a shared kitchen. Nothing, the only thing is that there is no staff to ask any service, the good thing is that the island’s people are really very kind and welcoming, willing to help guests in anything.
- David (10/5): Comfortable good value stay with friendly family! - Wow - Mohamed welcomed me like family into his home. I had misread payment methods (no card available) and had to use the last of my EGP for the accommodation — and in my stress of having no more cash on me, he kindly offered to make me dinner. It was a delicious feast and I felt very cared for! I found his family friendly, welcoming, and Mohamed made me feel very comfortable with arranging reasonably priced (50 EGP) personal motorboat for transfers from the island. The room was clean, large, and very comfortable! The location is not the most picturesque, though good value. Location stated as Bob Marley Guesthouse but this is actually next door (also with paintings of Bob Marley in the outside). Some joyful noise from children in next room though nothing some noise cancelling headphones couldn’t handle.
- Clara (10/5): Charming and cosy stay in Elephantine Island - perfect location - This place is absolutely magical. We went as a couple and it was such a comfortable and charming home. There is a kitchenette to which you can access and the room has beautiful lights and nice materials. It was feeling like home. We will always remember this stay as well as Mohamed, the host that was so helpful for everything. Surely, we will come back.
- Murat (10/5): Muhamed was very helpful with everything and the property was very clean. Great stay! Would stay again! -
- Amr (10/5): I felt at home and I felt comfortable - Location close to all services Refrigerator missing
- Skydog (10/5): Exceptional - Great little spot on a quiet chilled out island. Super easy to access. Going to the mainland and back is a breeze. Muhammad was fantastic! He can help arrange anything. Very quiet at night, and away from the noise of the mainland. Great rooftop restaurant right next door. Basic accommodation, Excellent Value!! Thanks for a great stay!
- Qi (10/5): Exceptional - very friendly owner, and knowledgeable in organizing trips!! mohamed went the extra mile to organise day trips to nubian village and even booked my train to luxor! definitely recommend another stay and would love to have stayed longer!!!! 😆😆
- Mike (10/5): Little piece of Magic on Elephant Island. - Great host and very attentive and approachable. Located next to the Bob Marley rooftop Restraunt and Bar. Only 100m from the public ferry and local shop. Beautiful location on Elephant Island.
Charming and welcoming people throughout the Nubian village. The building is rustic and brightly coloured, in keeping with the rest of the village, yet very modern out fitting inside the room.
Quiet, Clean with Aircon and very comfortable bed.
We were only able to stay here for our last night on the Island, and this guesthouse exceeded our expectations.
There are some lovely places to stay in Elephant Island, and this is certainly one of the best.
100% recommended and great price. Absolutely nothing. Fantastic. Book with Confidence.
