Guest Reviews
- Frances (10/5): Beautiful ocean view - Excellent location right on the beach with a beautiful ocean view.
The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Nice clean bathroom. Tea and coffee making, with a little fridge that works well to keep any food, snacks and drinks cool. The hotel is older, but that didn't bother us, as it was clean and tidy in a great location.
- Lisa (7/5): Fab value for money - Location Needs a paint
- Dawn (7/5): We enjoyed the stay inasmuch as it was right near the beach with a good hotel next door with good food and good views. G - Great location overlooking the sea. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable. It was old and tired looking. Carpet almost threadbare in patches. Whilst the room did had a view the window overlooking the ocean was very small.
- Rob (10/5): Ocean and pub at 10 paces - Next door was perfect Laundry
- Libby (5/5): Great spot - Great location and superb comfy bed Very run down
- Michael (7/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): -
- Arkle (7/5): - There is no breakfast available The room with a beach view look directly on to buildings. The only way to see the beach ⛱️ was to look sideways out the windows to see the beach. Not what I payed for.
- Georgina (8/5): -
- Brewer (8/5): -
- John (10/5): Magnificent - The staff the ocean the hot tub -
- Matheus (8/5): -

- Donald (9/5): It was good value for money apart from the bed smell - Nice location Bed smelt of body odour
- Dominic (4/5): -
- Benjamin (8/5): - Amazing location across the road from the beach and walking distance to Cottesloe pavilion. Rooms were clean and serviceable.
- Richard (9/5): Very good - Location
- Israel C. B. (9/5): Nice spot by the beach - Perfect location in a quiet neighbourhood. Room is spacious and shower got good water flow and pressure. Comfy bed. Building is a bit old, as was the carpet in the room (bit dirty). But nothing that couldn't be ignored for just one night.
- Annabel (7/5): Relaxing, comfortable and a great location. - Premium location. Comfortable beds. Clean and tidy.
Staff friendly and helpful. More cutlery and a microwave would have been nice to have.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Melanie (7/5): - Clean, good bed, good location Old and need of maintenance and basic upgrade.
- Joanne (7/5): We had a comfortable one night stay and the receptionists were both very friendly and helpful. Perfect location for us. - Great location and friendly staff Decor, carpets need an update
- Christina (8/5): - Location location!! I love that I step outside the front door, few steps and beach!
I love that the rooms are so big and the windows can see down the coast Although the rooms are exceptionally clean ypu can tell.no money has been spend to upgrade or modernise, the carpets are old but clean. The furniture is old but functional.
Dont expect high end hotel and you wont mind. The location makes up for it for me
- keith (8/5): -
- Patrick (8/5): - Great location and price. Bed was very comfortable. Fridge/freezer was busted a microwave would’ve been very handy. Carpet stains weren’t great to see.
- Tony (8/5): - The staff were great & very helpful
- Fiona (7/5): Our stay was fine. We really just wanted somewhere to sleep for the night. View of the ocean from our room was amazing. - Great location. Very outdated and run down inside. Freezer in small fridge didn’t work. Rundown.
No PowerPoints beside the bed for charging phone/ipad etc.
The window in our room didn’t seal properly so the wind caused the blind to bang in the middle of the night.
- Emily (7/5): - Location for our needs Needs a lot of TLC.
The constant banging and noises (cleaning) from other rooms were very disruptive.
- Therese (8/5): Great location, stunning views, comfortable bed and excellent staff. - Bed is so comfortable. Staff are excellent and happy to help with any queries. Very spacious rooms. Needs a refresh.
- Susan (10/5): Perfect for all my needs. - Stayed here lots - love all about the place and especially the location Nil
- Guest (10/5): -
- christopher (8/5): Better location and view than I was expecting, staff excellent -
- Jane (8/5): Ocean View Hotel stay - The staff were really helpful and let us store our cases before check-in so we could go to the beach. The location of this hotel is fantastic - right on the beach with restaurants and cafes easily walkable. Sunsets over Leighton Beach we're absolutely stunning! A tiny bit dated but comfy and clean.
- gloria (8/5): - Location Noisy area
- Peter (9/5): I won’t look for anywhere else for future visits - I loved the original decor. Simple but stylish. And excellent for sustainability keeping existing materials in use Nothing
- Lisa (4/5): Somewhere to crash, but not to have a relaxing holiday. - It was right on the beach. Although it was right on the beach, and we had the front room, the window was tiny. It was very hard to see out of it because it was so dirty. The hotel next door had live music until 10pm, so it wasn’t peaceful. The room needs some sound proofing as you could hear everything, people on the street talking, people in all the rooms (not just next door).
- Matthew (8/5): Queen of Cott - The OBH is a Perth institution. Many people have enjoyed the hotel's famous Sunday Sesh, but not many have stayed as a guest of the hotel itself. This review is about the hotel as a place to stay. The OBH accommodation block is a separate building to the famous bar and restaurant. Parking is included. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds and clean linen.. The hotel though is in a magnificent location. It is across the road from North Cottesloe beach and a stone's throw from the world class beach side cafes. The building and rooms are a little tired, with the furniture noticeably worn, especially table tops. I suspect this is due to guests using all available surfaces to dry their wet swimsuits after going to the beach. The bathroom decor is a bit dated and carpets a little ratty.
- Andrew (9/5): Great value in a great position - Excellent position
Friendly staff Inside was good, outside looked a bit tired, but don’t let that put you off.
- Jill (8/5): Wonderful location, great staff. Facility is older but very clean. - Great location. Very easy to get to using public transport. Next to a bar with a live band, so no early sleeping on the weekend. And my room was advertised as a kitchenette where I could cook, and there was nothing that could be used for cooking or eating; no cutlery, plates. Only glasses and coffee/tea mugs. And no stove/microwave/hotplate. That's fine, but it shouldn't say cooling is possible if it's not.
- Koh (8/5): - Great view of the Indian Ocean from our room and beautiful sunset.
- Gwen (5/5): An hotel in need of a massive overhaul - A great location Our room overlooked a noisy alley in which people drive cars and yelled all night.
It’s a very basic outdated hotel with chipped cheap furniture and a lot of maintenance required
- Lisbeth (6/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Go for the location, and very clean and friendly staff - Really great location. Clean and large room. It is quite dated. Could do with a refresh.
- Fionnuala (10/5): excellent - location and staff were amazing ,the hotel is tired and old but absolutely spotless the rooms were very ordinary and bathrooms were old
- Andre (10/5): - Beach front It was alright
- Bradley (7/5): -
- Tony (5/5): Low cost, great location, low quality - Location perfect. Faces Cottesloe Beach. On site parking and adjacent free parking. The rooms are large. Staff are all very friendly and helpful None of the rooms face the front. I stayed 1 night in a standard room which was stark and faced another building. We paid extra for 3 nights in a deluxe room. Just as stark and also facing another building but closer to seafront. There are no balconies. The rooms look as if they haven’t been renovated for 30+ years. Deluxe this is NOT.
- Denise (7/5): - Simple room but large, location is superb. No real view of the ocean from the rooms.
- Alexandra (7/5): -
- Denham (10/5): Perfect stay live the views will definitely stay another time - Beautiful views Nothing
- Michelle (4/5): Such a great location, excellent view. Friendly staff. Bed linen clean, towels average and aged. Room, spa, bathroom and - Friendly staff Very old and tired for price, carpets were disgusting, dirty and heavily stained.
- Malcolm (8/5): -
- Monks (10/5): Friendly staff who were always helpful. The location on the beachfront is perfect! - Location was perfect. Right on the beach front! Key cards not working if they have we against your phone or smart watch.
- Stephen (8/5): Great location, value for money, and friendly helpful staff. - I didn't have breakfast. Great location, right on the beach. Nothing
- Jason (8/5): Friendly staff and late check out thanks. - Wait staff was short at the restaurant so had to call in room service. Salmon eggs bene
- Susan (10/5): Love the OBH - Everything Nothing
- Sharon (10/5): What a little gem! - The hotel is in the most amazing location! The room was very clean and fresh! It was huge with a table and chairs as well as a spa bath! There was a separate shower and kitchenette with a fridge.
The bed was really comfortable and the views even from the windows were absolutely beautiful!!
The hotel is older, but we were there to enjoy each other's company and go for long walks on the beach and to see the many lovely sights Cottesloe has to offer. There are many different eating options inside a two minute walk, from healthy lifestyle eating to good pub food, even an Asian café. Great coffee opportunities everywhere!
The hotel brought back my childhood holiday excitement vibes. We absolutely loved the hotel and will definitely book it again!! Oldie, but absolutely a goodie👍😃💕 Nothing! It was absolutely as advertised and just what we needed for a long-overdue rest!
- Lorna (8/5): Excellent location, comfy bed, perfect for my needs. - Location is great. Bed is super comfortable. Easy to check in and out. Perfect for my needs Tap in bathroom was making loud knocking noises, could hear someone in another room having same issues. Decor is a bit tired, plain and dated. A more comfy chair to sit in and put your feet up would be nice. That’s just an observation. Room still suited my needs
- Georgina (8/5): -
- Carolin (10/5): -
- Shanaz (8/5): -
- Madeleine (10/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): -
- hayley (8/5): Simple but spacious and great location and value for money. - Simple but spacious and great location and value for money.
- Tim Smith (5/5): Helpful staff but building has aged and needs refurbishing - No Food. Beds that move on castors when you lean on the bed. Furniture looked tired.
- David (9/5): -
- Brett (5/5): -
- Martin (5/5): - Locating and price Because old hotel you hear people above stumping about and using their bathroom early in the morning
so not a good nights sleep
- Jarrod (10/5): - Great location. The attached pub has great food and a great atmosphere.
- Fiona (8/5): Last minute getaway, fab location, basic hotel - Location Dated and run down and little over priced for the condition of the hotel but location was fab
- Laura (5/5): Excellent location and parking an added bonus in what is a busy area but won’t be going back again as we really had no s - Location excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Parking on site. Grubby and badly needs an up date. Mattress so very soft it was like a waterbed, fine if
only one person but constantly awoken as other person moved in bed. Also, the room door was significantly smaller than its frame so there was a glowing light all around it overnight. Sadly there must have been a fire-door or equivalent as there was constant door slamming.
- Tom (8/5): A great deal for Cottesloe at the beach - Close proximity to the beach - very nice. Large and spacious room but at bit worn out. Cafes and restaurants literally next door. Great view of the ocean from room. Bar next door could be heard but it all stopped at 11. Ventilators from could be heard.
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Brown (6/5): Great location, good value but is reflected in the standard of the hotel. - Great location along with secure parking. The hotel is badly in need of a re fresh, carpets, paint and furniture is dated, old and scruffy.
- Stewart Collingwood (7/5): I like the OBH, great value, it is showing it age - The OBH needs to fix the room cards being scrambled by your mobile ph, very annoying when no-one was on reception
- Catherine (8/5): -
- Stacey (10/5): -
- Brown (7/5): Great location and value for money if you don’t mind the tired state of the furnishings. - I’ve stayed here in the past, the location is excellent with restraints, bars and beach within throwing distance. The rooms are l spacious and we had a room at the front on the 4th floor so the view of Cottesloe was excellent. It’s a shame, such a good spot, the hotel could be so much better with a little TLC. It’s an unusual building and would be nice to see some money spent on it. The carpets and furnishings are both dated and worn although it’s clean and I guess the good price reflects the tired state.
- Emma (7/5): Good value for money and great location - Location It is old and rooms had an old kinda smell
- Tony (10/5): - Location, friendly front of house staff, front of house staffed almost 24/7
- Stacey (5/5): -
- Ann (6/5): - Great location with the beautiful Cottesloe beach right across the road. The room was very basic and the place generally needs a big freshen up.
- Brian (8/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Across the road from Cottesloe Beach. Also has a restaurant and pub attached. It's a pity they can't clean the windows on the 5th floor!
- john (8/5): -
- Zoey (5/5): Convenient spot for beach and pubs/food. Rooms are dated but clean enough. they are massive too! - Great location Rooms are extremely dated, old furniture and would benefit from a comfortable lounge area to chill.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Mickie (8/5): easy to find your room and reception was good - space bathroom could be improved
- Geoff (7/5): -
- Petula (7/5): Ok for the one night. Slept well. Lovely staff. Just a coat of paint would brighten it up. - Location good. All needs a bit of tlc. Updating .
- Shannon (8/5): -
- Brodie (5/5): Definitely needs some TLC, nice view, friendly staff - Nice views The lift
- Wolf-Dietrich (9/5): -
- Moore (6/5): Great location a reliable stalwart - Location good sized rooms Needs a little TLC carpets are worn.
- Murdoch (8/5): -
- Wulu Nyonsoah Emmanuel (10/5): -
- Cherina (8/5): Suited our price range, staff were friendly and would recommend. - Location, price and weren’t hassled by staff for talking in our room after 10pm.
P.S. Don’t stay at Aloft if you want to talk! A microwave would be an advantage.
- Christina (7/5): Dated, tired 1970s-motel feel, but an affordable way to stay in an expensive area. -
