Guest Reviews
- Maria (9/5): -
- Anna (7/5): - The hostel is 5 minutes walking distance from the Uvita National park/beach. The WiFi is great and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The accomodation is a little bit basic and gets extremely warm during the day, due to there not having a breeze. There was one shower outside for all the guests.

- Bethany (9/5): Superb - excellent location, 2 minutes walk to the national park. very social vibe and friendly staff. only downside was how thin the mattresses were, could feel the bed frame through it
- Kateřina (8/5): Close to the beach, beatiful place for surfers. - Location of Nomadic Surf Camp is perfect. It is just 3min walk to the beach, you can rent surf board there. We were group of six so we can have one dormitory room for ourselfs. Owner is rally helpful and always at your service. The common areas are nice with plenty of seating space. You can enjoy your time here around noon when it is too hot on the beach. The volunteers at the hostel were friendly, but we often encountered same time use of the kitchen, which is very small, and it often happened that we didn't get our turn to cook until late in the evening. There are a lot of volunteers and everyone cooks separately or in small groups, so the pressure on the kitchen is really high. Unfortunately, they don't clean up after themselves and often leave it up to the cleaning lady who cleans the common areas every morning. It would help if there was a separate kitchen for guests and a kitchen for volunteers. The volunteers also used the fridge for guests which was very full.
In the dormitory room is only one wardrobe for all six people, so there is no space for keeping you stuff. It was fortunate that during our stay the owner attached a few more hooks to our room, so the situation improved a bit.
Do not expect the hot tub in the picture to be at the guests' service. It was outside the property during our stay.
- Iria (7/5): Good -
- Chris (2/5): Very poor - Closer to the beach No lockers for valuables. Door to room didn’t have a lock and didn’t even shut. Felt unsafe.
Didn’t feel like there were any staff around.
Bed was uncomfortable.
- Julia (4/5): Disappointing - Very friendly people staying there, great atmosphere, kind cleaner and great location so close to the beach and calmer nature which I really appreciate. The rooms very well cleaned but the other areas were under my expectations. Not cleaned enough for me to stay there one more night. But great price.
- Alessandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place with nice people
- Uwe (9/5): Superb - Cool place, nice people A little remote from downtown
- Johnny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katerina (10/5): Cozy, perfect value for money, next to the beach lovely hostel - Very friendly, cozy and convenient. The owner is kind-hearted person, always helpful
- Julia (9/5): Excellent and pleasant - The kitchen is very complete, which I think is super important, and the atmosphere is very calm. The best part is that it is just steps from the beach the sound and movement of the bed in the Mixed Dormitory Room
- Silvia (6/5): Pleasant - Kitchen is well equiped. Just next to the beach. Uncomfortable beds, no privacy in the room, just a sliding door/curtain that does not fully close and no lockers.
- Kay (8/5): Very good -
- K (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (8/5): Nice spot, especially if you surf. - The lad who runs the place is very nice and there is an outdoor bath, which I loved in the evening. Few monkeys around and right on the beach (paid access). A mosquito net would help.
- Cortes (9/5): Thanks for the experience - Staff, very close of the beach. The project of painting is awesome! Bathroom is small
- Ko (10/5): Incredibly Gratifying and Nurturing - Steps away to the Colonia Playa entrance of Marino Ballena National Park with super convenient and free access to Uvita Beach before 7am. Safely able to stroll the beach at 5:30am and walk the Whale's Tail at low tide. At daybreak, thoroughly appreciated the immensity of the expanded beach and sandbar. Had the park, with the company of birds, the waves, and crabs basically all to myself, except for another person, way at a distance. Many tall trees around the hostel, with howling monkeys as alarm clocks. Saw sloth for two days. Playa Uvita bus stop from San Jose, Dominical or Quepos (not Tracopa terminal or town center) is 10 minutes walk, turning from main road and walking all the way to Playa la Colonia (aka Chaman) park entrance. Not really a problem but it is expected that many ants are around, making it important to secure food. Toilet and shower are tight and rustic, but they are functional.
- Landová (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing owners of the place, the kindest people a met in Costarica, they'll help you with anything you might need. The place looks very cozy, chill, has good vibes and its right at the most beautiful beach! I truly loved it there and highly recommend it. Pura Vida, see you soon! :)
