- Mirela (2/5): DO NOT BOOK!! - location is decent, 10min walk from Atocha and all the main museums. DO NOT BOOK this place and save yourself a terrible stay. I tried contacting the owners so many times for an early check-in, to which I received the answer to contact them the day before to check if this was possible, and after that only automated responses and NEVER an answer back. Finally they wrote that for an early check in is additional €5 PER PERSON!! We had to get a locker near the station to keep our lagguages in the meantime and spent additional money for it. Finally we got into the flat after 17:00 and it was so dump and smelled like mould, the windows were covered in condensed water, the furniture is covered in mould, as well as some of the walls. We were really concerned for our health for the entire stay and tried to keep the flat aerated as much as possible but it didn’t change much. We had the dehumidifier on for the entire stay and I removed litres and litres of water from it every few hours!! My sister is sensitive and woke up every day with her face and eyes swollen due to the mould in there. Two of the 4 radiators were broken, so we tried to put the functioning two to work. The boiler is not strong enough, and after one person takes a shower, there’s not enough hot water for the remaining 3 to shower. The ladder to get to the upstairs bed is sticky, so steep and dangerous that it was hard getting up and down from it. We were lucky there was the other bed we could give to my parents who have mobility issues and could have never climbed those stairs. The stairs to the bathroom and the kitchen are also really steep, and altogether represented an issue for the mobility of my elder relatives around the flat. Finally, the only things clean in the flat were the bedsheets and the towels - everything else was so bad. The floors were dirty, we found dirt in every corner. Some of the tops were sticky and the glasses were also dirty (some also broken) and we had to wash everything before attempting to use it.
