Guest Reviews
- François (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Everything else was lovely 😍 we had a good experience there. - The location was excellent 👌
However breakfast lacked variety eg no scrambled eggs ran out of melon. They needed to make sure that not only omelette was on the breakfast menu.
- Amanda (1/5): Never again! This place is a dump and you do not get what they have in their pictures. - Nothing! This place is less than 3 stars Location was near where the camels wait to get into the pyramids so it always stunk. Communication from owner was only available when they wanted mo way from us.
Failed to provide breakfast one day and the next we had to message 3 times to get the ladies to bring us anything.
Beds are no cleaned and there was hair all through the bed and in the shower.
Hygiene standards were below zero! At no point did I feel clean or safe.
Do not believe the reviews on booking- I wish I had done more research as the google reviews outlined how bad it is
- Maurice (10/5): Exceptional - I like the excursion very fun
- Marie (10/5): Magnificent views and exceptional hospitality - The view from the rooms and from the rooftop were superb. Magnificent views of the Pyramids and the Sphinx. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I would strongly recommend this accommodation because of its central location, the hospitality of the staff, the magnificent views from the rooftop and the room, and being good value for money. Nothing to complain about.

- Anonymous (7/5): Really enjoyed the stay for one night - Good breakfast

- Sharon (9/5): It was a great experience. - The breakfast was good. It was nice to try traditional foods.
Eating breakfast over looking the pyramids everyday was superb.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel staff arranged all of our excursions. The people they used for the excursions were very friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing.
- Francesca (10/5): Breathtaking pyramids view and exceptionally helpful staff! - Totally impressed by the view of pyramids, comfortable rooms and attentive staff !
Overall this hotel is perfect for travelers who prioritize location and good service over luxury
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - This was the most exceptional hotel. Everything from the hotel transfer to the food and spectacular view was unlike anything id experienced before.
- Florian (4/5): Okay for a short stay - Very close to the pyramids. You can sit on the roof terrace and get the view just like on the pictures.
It was very cheap. The hotel is on an extremely dirty and smelly street.
We got a room that was a lot smaller than booked, and without the promised views. Only when complaining we were told the right room was being repaired and could possibly be ready for our second night. Staff kept sending us questions if all was good which was a nice gesture if a bit overdone, but when asking back if the room was ready, we never got a response. Ultimately we stayed in the small room.
We were returned some money for that but that wasn’t the idea.
- Raymond (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast. Really helpful staff.
The location opposite the pyramids made it special.
- Camilo (10/5): Exceptional - The summer is definitely different there I really like what they did it for us all time cold drinks juice watermelon or orange juice
Breakfast always fresh and teasty thanks for everyone who’s working there
- Rafi (10/5): Exceptional - Rooftop, and nada and noor served good breakfast and also khalid very nice staff person
- Jone (10/5): best picture ever from the roof i think - same photo same view nothing change quite street at night sound and light show for free from the rooftop drinks for free for all the accommodation thanks guys for your hospitality, noor was very helpful and nice the street at 8:00 Am have a lots of camels waiting to enter the pyramids but it’s okay different view different culture and experience i really respect that
- Kia (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place was amazing stuff highly recommended😍😍
- Martiany (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff and great location
Would definitely recommend and rebook when i return to cairo Street one minute from sphinx gate
- Giaana (10/5): Unique view - We liked the location of the hotel! It was one minute away from sphinx gate . Clean and very friendly staff
Cosy budget hotel with a fabulous view
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect
- Bronwynne (10/5): Very nice and value for money! - Location was great overlooking the pyramids! Nora was very helpful and made a beautiful breakfast
- Kia (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hotel
Highly recommended 🤗🤗
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional - The best view I have ever seen with amazing stuff 😍
- Christopher (7/5): Good - The view from the roof terrace was spectacular. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was right next to the office. It was clean but basic. Expensive for the quality offered.
- George (10/5): Exceptional - I had a great stay at the Great Scarab Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. They also organized amazing tours for me, making my trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended! Nothing
- Nadia (1/5): Beware of the misleading advertisement! A disappointing experience that ruined our stay. Definitely avoid! - Beware, misleading advertisement! We canceled our stay after booking this hotel.
After waiting until 5 PM to get our room, they tried to relocate us to a hotel called Pyramid Live, just two streets away next to horse stables, which was three times cheaper on Booking.
The staff was not welcoming at all. We are very disappointed with the entire experience.
- Virginia (1/5): Dirty room, dirty toilette, dirty sheets, tiny room, bad smell - Nothing Dirt
Bad smell
- Marian (3/5): Did not deliver - Staff tried to make up the mistakes with the room by giving us extra snacks, water, discount on the room rate we paid for. Still disappointing as I called and spoke to 3 of their staff ahead of arriving to confirm the details of my room. Did Not have the room type we selected. Did not have the view described and selected. Bathroom tiles run down, bed not comfortable.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - this not my first time there always thankful for the team there they do everything to make you happy
the street at night is quiet and safe one minute from sphinx gate , you can also get pizza hut or kfc close by further more they help me to go to concert zamna for free go and back
water pepsi cola all this things you can get it for free and that’s new for me
- Edoardo (10/5): Exceptional - View, good service.
The staff also helped with our lost luggage and helped with logistics
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Unbelievable location slap bang on pyramids doorstep just like the picture shows. Fabulous Egyptian food (oh my god the falafels! They are soooo much better than the sad UK versions I've always had) and delicious freshly pressed fruit juices, and some of the nicest, friendliest staff you could ever hope to meet - really wonderful people, just ask and they'll do all they can to make it happen. I liked everything about it, and so long as you like rustic and authentic I'd imagine you will too!
- Chukwuemeka (7/5): Good -
- Malik (1/5): “Extremely disappointing and distressing stay — the property did not match the listing, felt unsafe, and appeared to be - Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Booking Reference 4526953440 – Request for Investigation and Immediate Action
Dear Booking.com Customer Support,
I am writing to formally raise a serious complaint regarding my booking (Reference: 4526953440) at Great Scarab Pyramids View, originally scheduled for check-in on 4th April 2025 and check-out on 7th April 2025.
I booked this hotel in December 2024, and my reservation included an airport pickup service, which I used upon arrival at Cairo Airport at approximately 9 PM. I had informed the property in advance that I would arrive at the hotel around 10:30 PM, considering traffic from the airport to Giza.
Upon arrival, I found no hotel signage, reception, or any visible establishment matching the description. The driver, who was arranged by the property itself, communicated with someone who claimed to be the owner. After standing outside for a long time, we were eventually taken to the roof of a residential building, where we waited in uncomfortable conditions for over 90 minutes with no staff or proper accommodation.
Eventually, a man arrived claiming to be the owner. He took photos of our passports using his personal phone, which is a serious violation of data protection and privacy laws. He told us the room was not ready and took us to a different room where he demanded I cancel the original Booking.com reservation and pay him directly in GBP or USD. He took my phone, accessed my Booking.com account, and cancelled the booking without my consent, and then charged me £95.
Around 12:30 AM, he walked us roughly 10 minutes to a second location, Shadow Pyramids Hotel, where we were checked into a tiny, windowless room with a blocked toilet, no hot water, and barely any space. The staff at this hotel claimed to have no knowledge of our original booking, and I was left completely stranded and confused.
The next day, I tried reaching the original person, but he stopped responding.
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional - We had a super stay. The location is superb with prime vistas over the pyramids, but mist of all we enjoyed the hospitality and joyfulness of all the personnel.
- Kelly (4/5): Not the place we booked, but the staff were nice. - The rooftop was gray and the staff were really nice! It wasn’t the property we had booked - our taxi dropped us off there and we got taken to the rooftop on arrival, but our room was in a hotel down the street - that wasn’t nice.
- Stjepan (10/5): Astonishing view - Amazing accomodatation with great rooms, beautiful terrace, accessible and polite staff, great and affordable private tours and services.
We arrived at Cairo at 1am and right at the start had problems with uber and taxis at the airport. We called Mr. Sayed Helmi for help and he quickly arranged us transport and safely brought us to the hotel. Came in the hotel at 2am and was greeted with a smiling welcome and tea. The room was okay and we got everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was small portions of diverse food, enough to get you full and ready for the day.
Also, we booked a private tour, they have a lot of options and we picked our favorites, the price was fair (compared to offers from getYourGuide) and the tour guide was professional and friendly.
We saw everything that we wanted to see and the full story about the history of Egypt.
Chauffeur drived amazingly in this chaos of traffic and helped us for farmacy and groceries
Big thanks to Manar, Berihan, Mahmoud and Sayed! Wish you all the best. Keep note that neighbourhood is pretty chaotic, lots of traffic and noise on the street, but with amazing staff, transport and guide we felt safe.
- George (10/5): Exceptional - staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring I had everything I needed. The room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with all the amenities I could ask for.
One of the highlights of my stay was the tours organized by the hotel. They were exceptionally well-planned, with knowledgeable guides, comfortable transportation, and seamless arrangements. It made exploring the area so much more enjoyable and stress-free.
The hotel's location was perfect,Every detail was taken care of, making my stay truly memorable.
- Fan (10/5): Exceptional - Great location
I highly recommended
I will come back soon as possible
- Baker (10/5): Exceptional - Really it's an amazing stay ,excellent service everything was amazing starting from the staff ,room we really enjoyed
Thank you all for making our trip amazing
- Baker (10/5): Exceptional - All of this is great: location, room view and staff are doing amazing, super friendly, they offered a great tours with professional guide and private car highly recommend ☺️
- Baker (10/5): Wonderful - The price and quality are well balanced, the service is nice and we received a free upgrade and the room was beautiful the hotel was absolutely stunning
- Jonathan (8/5): Best View of the Pyramids! - Let's just say the view of the pyramids is probably the best view in this area. There are zero buildings blocking the pyramids. The Sphinx is partially blocked by a giant tree, but I dont think any hotel has a complete view of the Sphinx as it is set lower in the valley. We checked in very late after midnight, but that wasn't a problem. The beds are very comfortable, so we had an excellent night's sleep, which is important for the next day tours. The people who work there are friendly and try to resolve any issues that might come up. Breakfest was more than adequate for our needs (stayed for 2 nights only). It usually consists of a few different breads, fruit, cheese & cold meat, flatten fried egg, bean dip, a delicious vegatable sause dish, cookies, egyptian cheese, mixed finely chopped veg salad & choice of drinks. They supplied more than enough free water for our needs. The only thing is the wifi is not always reliable. Maybe this is a problem in Cairo, but I'm not sure, so we had to buy a sim to make up for it. We had only 1 time the water stopped working, but not for long, this was probably out of their control. We watched the camels & horses go by the hotel once in the morning & evening (daily trek to the pyramids). I believe this is a family run business, and they are trying to do their best for their customers in the competitive world of Egyptian tourism. It's not 5 stars, but from my point of view, it's good for good night's sleep & being so close to the pyramids, it's a WOW view!
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional - The receptionists were very kind and friendly and helped with anything I needed. Reception was open 24/7. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets and towels smelled like very fresh laundry
- James (10/5): Exceptional - the best view ever i have expect this view you will never imagine this lovely view the street ,
wifi is strong , the hospitality is high expectations nothing
- Rafeal (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful place
Our vacation was very nice with them, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the view on pyramids fantastic.
Thank you for everything.
- Thomas (9/5): I really recommend this hotel, especially for visiting the Pyramids. - Very close to the Pyramids and Sphinx. An uncredible panoramic view of the Pyramids from the rooftop. Breakfast was delicious and more than enough, and served on the rooftop. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and organized transport, privat tours and activities for us. The wifi was good but could need a little upgrade. We felt very safe and welcome at this place. Restaurants and shops are very close by. Wifi was ok but slow. Neighborhood was a little bit smely and dirty because of passing camels every morning (but nice to watch).
- Gabriela (10/5): Wonderful - The view is absolutely incredible! Me and my parents had such a great time enjoying breakfast in the rooftop. The staff is always providing you with your needs and checking if everything is ok. Super recommended!
- Ashlie (4/5): OK but with some major disappointments - - Incredible view of the pyramids from the top level
- Overall clean and comfortable
- Friendly staff when they are around - We purchased the “Mountain/Pyramid View” but did not get it. We were given a room with essentially no useful window at all
- The airport transfer to the hotel was smooth, but we got abandoned getting back. They confirmed we would have a transfer back but they never showed up. There was nobody to help and they completely stopped responding to us from that point on
- The hotel didn’t mark us as checked in, leading to a no-show and cancel on Booking.com
- The street is where all the camels and horses line up to get into the Pyramids area. It reeks of urine and is very hard to navigate in the mornings. The hotel did well keeping the air fresh inside the rooms for the most part
- WiFi does not work at all
- The bathroom hardware was hooked up really poorly. The shower leaked profusely and handles fell off. The door lock came off at the end of the stay. Not the biggest deal but some sloppy finish work
- The breakfast was OK but we rarely got it because it was only 8-10am, making it hard to fit around earlier activity schedules
- Pretty loud, including hearing activity in the office area next to the rooms pretty late into the night
- Giaana (10/5): The best place in the sphinx area - What a view place is amazing close to sphinx and pyramids gate the WiFi is good but must update for more GB
The breakfast is delicious noor is amazing
Manor she's the best she's organized for me one day tour it was private tour
The room is deluxe with pyramids window Nothing
- Jason (5/5): Fantastic view of the pyramids but a bit rough in other aspects - The view of the pyramids from the rooftop is spectacular. You can see the pyramid show from the hotel. The WiFi is horrendous and didn’t work the majority of the time. The pickup from the airport was a bit rough and took 30 minutes standing outside to actually get picked up, they promised a ride back to the airport but the morning of no ride showed up and no staff could be found (and no one responded via messaging). The street also smells like poop as the camel gate to the pyramids is right next to the hotel (but the rooms were pretty good smell wise)
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Room service was perfect
Housekeeping maintained excellent
The staff at (hotel name) were extremely welcoming and professional.
From the moment I arrived, they greeted me warmly and ensured a smooth check-in
highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding customer service and friendly staff. They truly make you feel valued as a guest.
- Donatas (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kathryn (3/5): Not a great experience - The location is great for a view of the Giza plateau and the pyramids. We loved watching the camels arriving at the 'camels gate' at 8am ready for their days work. In the room the shower had good pressure and was hot. Tea, coffee and biscuits was a welcome relief after a bad journey to the hotel.
Unfortunately this hotel was very difficult to find, our taxi driver tried to call numerous times to ask for directions however no one answered the phone. Once we got near, we asked at another hotel, but they had never heard of it either. The hotel didn't actually have a name outside yet.
The Great Scarab Hotel is actually more of a hostel, there was no reception, and once we had been met by a 'manager/owner, he left and the only person we could find was a young boy who couldn't really speak English. We were told the hotel would arrange for a taxi to take us into Cairo on checkout. Unfortunately this didn't turn up and only the young boy was in the 'hotel' and he couldn't help. Very disappointed. The downside of the location was the smell, noise and not a great area to find a restaurant or take a walk.
The photo of the breakfast on the booking site looks great, croissants, pan au chocolate and orange juice . Unfortunately the young boy who was left to prepare the breakfast did not put out such a nice looking feast. We had none of what we were expecting, but a cold dhal and veg curry with bread rolls and other pastry things. Not so great.
On the whole, this hotel has great views but needs alot of work on staffing, we were kept awake by loud talking late into the night from the 'office/ corridor', and then only one young boy around to help guests. Not good enough.
- Chawandy (10/5): the most beautiful and closest place to pyramids - it was really pleasure that i am stayed they are very caring about everything and littel things. and do the best to make them customers satisfied. the breakfast was delicious with different items. the wifi connection is very high speed also they always gived you a complimentary juice or cola every time you went to the rooftop specialy on the sound and light show you can see it and listen it for free nothing
- Metin (10/5): Exceptional - The bed and room were comfortable and clean. The location and view of the pyramids was amazing. The staff was very friendly and attentive especially offering drinks. The food was delicious and very generous. The view from the rooftop while dining was breathtaking. We really enjoyed the activities that were arranged for us by the hotel and had a wonderful driver and tour guides.
- Akkaya (10/5): Wonderful view in the room and rooftop - Great view of the pyramid. Very welcoming young people who took care of us especially Sayed and Maymone very benevolently. I commend it.
- May (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nor (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent service! Highly recomended. Thanks to Manor & the team
- Jurga (8/5): Scenic Views & Comfortable Stay, but Room for Improvement - The B&B has a fantastic location, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The rooftop view was amazing, especially in the evening when we could watch the Light Show. Breakfast was also very nice, with plenty of options to choose from. However, we encountered several unexpected issues during our stay.
Upon arrival, I asked if I could pay by card, but I was informed that only cash was accepted. I handed over the money, but the host had no change and promised to return $15 later that day. It wasn’t until 17 days later (after my first review) that the amount was finally transferred back to me.
Additionally, on the day we arrived, when we asked for food, we were shown a menu on a phone and ordered two pizzas. We waited for over an hour, only to realize that the B&B does not have its own kitchen and had simply placed an order from a takeaway. While this wouldn’t have been an issue in itself, we were not informed about the long wait time at the time of ordering, which disrupted our plans to explore the pyramids before closing time. To make matters worse, even though I confirmed a chicken pizza three times, I still received the wrong order—a pizza topped with pink, odd-tasting sausages and vegetables, which I could barely eat.
Overall, I would recommend this B&B for its great location and lovely accommodation. However, please be cautious when it comes to money handling and make sure to ask plenty of questions before making certain arrangements (e.g. ordering food).
- Ana (4/5): Disappointing - The terrace has a view to the Pyramids. The images shown on booking does not correspond to the real place.
On arrival at 4am they switched us to another room at a different building and they have grabbed my phone and cancelled the reservation so we would have to pay in cash without paying the commission to booking.com - and they did this without asking us, they just said they had to see something on the reservation.
Also the communication with the hosts was quite aggressive.
Do not book, is not worth the money.
- Maram (10/5): Wonderful - This hotel exceeded all expectations!
The warm hospitality and impeccable service made our stay unforgettable.
A special highlight was GREAT SCARAB HOTEL, which added a magical touch to our trip. Highly recommended
we can't wait to return! Nothing
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - The location is fantastic, just a few minutes away from the entrance of Giza area. The rooftop where we can have breakfast or dinner offers an incredible view on the pyramids.
- Queen (10/5): My fabulous time in Cairo wouldn’t have been possible without the Great Scarab Pyramids View Hotel, - A lot of good food
- Dean (10/5): Great stay with fantastic view! - Breakfast was terrific, overly generous, and fantastic view overlooking the Pyramids. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Manar, who was very patient answering questions and making sure it was an exceptional stay. Very comfy bed and pillows with good room amenities of multiple types of yea and coffee and plenty of bottled water.
- Diego (10/5): Exceptional - The room is all new, very luxury and confortable. The best in all the zone Nothing
- Niko (10/5): Exceptional - A very beautiful and comfortable place directly overlooking the pyramids
- Micha (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitable, friendly staff, great location, abundant breakfast, small details to make you feel welcome. Everything great in new facilities, but they do have to deal with "singing pipes" in their plumbing from time to time. This detail does not overshadow the great stay we had at all
- Galán (9/5): Superb - The room is very clean. The area.
- Martijn (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing staff and location! Great luxurious room and good service.
- Claudio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohsin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prithviraj (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff, spacious room. Would recommend.
- Chawandy (10/5): Exceptional - the view is incredible in the beginning i thought it’s fake photo but after i been there i believe that one of the best views i have never seen it , thanks nour for the high service manar berihan they do the best to make you smile , they have a high hospitality specially when i was angry cause my bags lost in the airport but they stay with me and made a calls to the airport until they bring it really thankful cairo airport must upgrade them services
- Vladislav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (8/5): Location great and staff at hotel sweet 😊 - I liked the location and the staff who stayed and worked at the hotel. The hotel staff is young but trying to do as they can daily to do a good job. The room is nicely thought through. This hotel staff is very attentive to your needs. They are working hard to build the image of the hotel. There is a good bit of noise from the street in front along with the road being very dirty because of the droppings of all the camels and horses going into the back gate to the pyramids. There is not much comfort to walk outside the hotel alone without someone with you. There needs to be a bath mat in the bathroom to ensure it is safe. There could also be a small shelf in the shower for soap. I do think more thought could be put into the presentation of breakfast as after a number of days I thought it looks like they are just doing their best to give me what is on hand and instead I think they should ensure daily they have all items needed.
- Maram (10/5): Awesome - I like the staff were interactive , warm and helpful
The staff always responded with smiling face the breakfast was amazing
The online team very high service, they provide awesome tours Nothing
- Agnes (10/5): Exceptional - Everybody was super friendly and helpful.
Lovely breakfast and clran rooms.
Airport transfer was done by the hotel as well as a full day guided tour.
I highly recommend to book threw the hotel as they look after you the best they can.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - Noura NAda manar sayed They are thé best
Breakfast is amazing tours organization is lovely
- Piotr (10/5): really great place in front of the even greater pyramids - Besides the excellent location and amazing view from the room and hotel rooftop the staff were really super nice and always helpful. You can also watch the pyramids light show from the hotel rooftop. The breakfast was nice with a variety of breads, cheese, eggs and vegetables. it did not bother me but the street outside the hotel is packed with horses and camels passing through to and from the pyramids. if you are a light sleeper or are scared of these animals you might find it overwhelming
- Giovanni (10/5): Exceptional - I recommend
- Joanna (10/5): A highlight is that you can see the sound and light show from the rooftop. - We only had one night in Cairo with an early start flight. We initially booked another hotel but decided to change as this was closer to the pyramids. The hotel was super pleasant and perfectly located for the pyramids. All staff were amazing and super friendly which made our stay memorable. The room was really clean and comfortable which added to the experience. Egypt was a little cold at night so I wished I had packed some more warm clothes. Only issue was our early flight. Wish we could have sat and ate breakfast while gazing at the pyramids, maybe next time. The hotel did however provide a small takeaway breakfast for the airport.
- Lambella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Recrdo (10/5): Wonderful - Great view I booked in the last minute the hotel close to the pyramids they are helped stuff ,they helped if you asked for anything, the room had everything you need that they also organised everything for us to visit the places Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Incredible experience at great scarab pyramids hotel - This is the best Hotel I have ever stayed at. The breakfast is the best breakfast I have ever eaten at a hotel, the variety of options are endless and it tasted incredible. The staff are the most friendly staff I have come across in a hotel.
- Akkaya (10/5): Best location ever - Fantastic family run hotel where all staff and the owners were so incredibly helpful that it made our stay in Cairo one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.
