Guest Reviews
- Richard (9/5): We had a very memorable time, particularly because of the hospitality shown by Richie. We also enjoyed our extra trip lo - We were given a choice of rooms and settled for a very good set up. The property is beautiful and surroundings look and feel remote. Richie was an incredible host; amiable and very happy to show us his town and surroundings. Nothing
- Keynor (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): Majestic beauty and the stellar host! - This is the absolutely best place to stay while getting oriented to Costa Rica! Richie is the most gracious host and takes time to curate your experience to you and your family’s needs. While the roads in to Eco Camp are dirt, they are much better than the one’s I encounter in America’s southwest. If you like magical water falls and streams outside your door, a comfortable eco camp, the coolest tree we saw during our travel and an opportunity to immerse yourself in Costa Rican culture this is the place for you. Also, the food is super delicious and sources from the extensive local gardens that attract butterflies and hummingbirds all day long.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bonnie (8/5): Waterfall trail at the back of the property is a gem - The best thing about this stay is trail at the back of the property. It follows a lovely creek, crosses several times, with views of many waterfalls. The trail is steep and requires hiking shoes with very good tread. And it's worth it for waterfalls and flowers.
The grounds around the house are full of beautiful flowers.
This is a multi-purpose property. When we arrived people were camping in the back yard. That area has its own bathroom and shower.
Ritchie is very friendly and does his best to please guests. Connecting with the owner upon arrival was difficult. The key was in the door and we walked in to find the wifi and use it to contact Richie. Another party arrived after dark with the same problem. My husband took that guest up the hill to the bar to find Ritchie.
I don't see how this place gets 9-10 star reviews.
What could be a living room with seating is full of 3 bunk beds. This place could be a hostel.
2 of us, a couple, reserved the suite for 1 bedroom, so that room was set up with linens: fitted sheet, fleece blanket and thin quilt. No top sheet. Between all the beds there is a selection of pillow styles, some with pillow cases.
Shower: Ritchie showed us the solar heated hot water at 3pm. By bedtime, warm water was gone after half a shower.
Louver windows have no screens and let in many bugs.
The kitchen has 2 cups, 4 glasses, silverware. No bowls or plates.
The road is a narrow, steep, winding adventure. Our SUV struggled on some steep climbs on the way out.
- Stephen (9/5): Great place to stay. Lots of birds. Very friendly owner. - Lots of birds and nice garden. Owner very friendly and helpful. Taken to see quetzals and went for walk in nearby hills for a great morning out with brother of owner. The very long dirt road to get to the property. 30 km. Wouldn’t like to do the trip in anything but 4 wheel drive.
- Wouter (10/5): Very beautiful located house, we loved our stay! - Very beautiful location!
- František (10/5): Great place to stay - Owner very helpful, not crowded, nice and calm place in the wilderness
- Nathalie (10/5): Rustic stay in a breathtaking environment - Richie's place is off-the-beaten track, so part of the adventure is getting there! The remote location is beautiful and serene. Richie is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. There is a covered area with seating and a hammock right by the pool; a well thought-out amenity. As a local (born and bred), Richie knows the area and has contacts everywhere. He is a wealth of information and knowledge. The road is rough getting in and out, but it is part of this area's charm.
