Guest Reviews
- Wayne (10/5): We will want to come back. - Setting was very beautiful. The snow and the rain they had was a downer, but of course not their fault. But paths were well cleared.
We knew about this place as we stayed there previously
The owner is very nice. Made a very good meal and breakfast provided.
Firewood for wood stove chopped and stocked for use. The snow and the rain. đđđ
- Frank (9/5): -
- Cindy (10/5): We had a great night. - It was a beautiful little spot. The cabin was wonderful, and the meal prepared for us was delicious. N/A
- Carl (10/5): Breathtaking and inspiring! - This place is a hidden treasure in the middle of the 37th highway we didnât expect to run into. The whole stay turns into a beautiful experience thanks to Kristy and her amazing hospitality. The cabin itself and the surroundings are breathtaking, we only wish we would have been able to stay longer! If youâre passing by the area, you have to give yourself this experience. We have zero complains, but anyone staying here should consider itâs a remote location with certain services not available.
- Christine (10/5): A prefect place to escape the world and enjoy nature. - An absolutely beautiful cabin with dinner ready for you on the stove when you arrive. As well a warm fire going and a fridge full of eggs and homemade jam for your breakfast. The cabin is beautifully decorated, the views stunning and Kristy is an amazing hostess. As an added bonus we watched the northern lights dance over the cabin. The ladder to the bedroom was a bit of a challenge especially if you needed to use the outside bathroom at 2 am but its all part of the experience.
- Adrian (10/5): Extraordinary stay - Everything!
This place is magical. The history behind this cabin (read the book!) and the surroundings are truly magical. You can go kayaking, fishing, hiking or you can explore the surroundings with the car. The host is extremely friendly and helpful with local knowledge, tasty meals that are freshly made and we had the opportunity to take the canoe up on the lake and try our luck with some fishing (sorry again for the fishing pole đŁ).
We even took a bath in the hot tub down by the water. It's incredible and the stay felt like a retreat for the soul.
Couldn't recommend it enough!
Thank you so much again and hope to see you again one day :)
- Joan (10/5): - Great having a meal waitibg for you. The view WOW
- Dmytro (10/5): -
- bernard (10/5): Cabane idéale pour une retraite dans la nature - L'accueil de Kristy, son excellente cuisine, le confort du chalet, sa propreté, son emplacement. Rien
- Tejvinder (10/5): - The glamping experience was amazing
The outdoor hot tub with the view was so good
Tent was heated and bed was very comfortable May be running water in the sink would help. One bed side lamp was out of power so were just left with 1 bright lamp to step in and out of the tent.
- Tejvinder (9/5): - Loved the cabin, privacy, the old school charm of a fire place.
It was nice and clean.
The fish stew with fresh garden salad was delicious.
I was very happy that there was no cell service during the stay. I could just enjoy this amazing accommodation without distractions.
Would highly recommend.
- Patricia (10/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): - Everything was set up perfectly, and every detail was perfect. Great romantic night under the stars. .
- Isabel (10/5): - Every thing. The cabin, the starry sky, the bonfire. The home cooked dinner Nothing
- LAURE (7/5): - Le Bath tub chaud était une super idée et le dßner était délicieux. Faire la vaisselle sans eau courante était un bon challenge.
Un petit plaid aurait été apprécié pour pouvoir regarder les étoiles le soir.
- Isabel (10/5): perfect hideaway - great location. Beautiful cabin and views. Our hostess was wonderful. The home cooked meal on our arrival day was such a wonderful surprised it was all wonderful
- Douglas (9/5): -
- ZHONGWEI (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): - Very cute cabin with a lot of character with a lot of affections to details. The home made soup was delicious. Would love to come again.
- DeAnna (10/5): This was by far the best place we have ever stayed! It beats a 5âïž hotel any day! Kristy has gone above all expectatio - We loved everything about this property. It was private and comfortable! Food was awesome and Kristy is a perfect host! That there werenât any more nights available đ
- Laurence (10/5): - The location and view are a delight. It was just different in an unexpected and positive way. Can't think of anything.
- Federico (10/5): A cozy escape in the wood! - This cabin was an absolute dream, nestled in the heart of the woods right by the beautiful Vines Lake. Kristy was a discreet yet wonderfully warm host â she cooked a delicious meal waiting for us upon arrival, and the cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need for a comfortable and cozy stay. We truly loved both the home and its stunning surroundings. We hope to come back someday!

- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - It was a fantastic experience and wish we had more time to enjoy such a beautiful and peaceful place i really recommend this experience out of the box. The hot tub was really nice, and food too. Nothing to mention because it was perfect.
- Stephen Whitaker (10/5): -
- Nicky (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brad (10/5): A slice of paradise! - We rode 4,000 miles on motorcycles from Texas and unexpectedly found this slice of paradise. If your looking for the same ole same ole, this is not for you but if your looking for a peaceful, pleasant stay that is not the norm, this would a 10. There is no electricity and that is a very good thing. The owner, Kristi is the best! See above
- Janene (10/5): Wonderful relaxing retreat for adults and pups. - Wonderful isolated location to relax and enjoy nature. The dogs and and adults had a great time. The owner thought of everything - including a sheet to cover the couch! The bed was super comfortable! The dogs didnât like they couldnât make it up the stairs to sleep in the loft but they adjusted just fine in their kennels.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting, delicious food, several nice touches
- Natrisha (10/5): A BC safari glamping experience where you are so well treated with homecooked food, a Bob Ross view and restorative wood - It was like a Bob Ross painting you are entering. So picturesque of a location. The glamping tent and wood fired outdoor tub were so a treat. Delicious wholesome food prepared by Kris. Really every little thing you could possibly need including head lamps, eye masks, homemade jamâŠ
- Burkeen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johannes (10/5): Exceptional - This place is heaven on earth. Kristy is the best host you will ever find. She made and brought delicious home made fresh meals every night. There was home made bread and the fridge was filled with delicious products.
The cabin has everything you need plus much more.
Name it and it's there. The location is absolutely stunning, only sounds you will hear are birds and squirrels. i enjoyed my 2 days at the fullest, I hope to go back there again.
Thanks for everything Kristy and puppy Wilma. Absolutely nothing
- Darlene (10/5): Perfect place to unwind - The silence Nothing
- Lisa (8/5): Cozy, peaceful, remote, potential wildlife viewing, quality food. - Beautiful spot with the bonus of seeing a wildlife come nearby! (We saw a fox within 20 feet of the cabin, so cool). Very comfortable with the wood stove keeping things warm and the bed was cozy and clean. Nice having quality food and drink available for the stay. Kristy prepared a meal and had it ready for our later arrival time, and prepared enough water that we could use to drink and wash our hands and dishes. :) Host greeted us and gave a helpful tour of the cabin. Neat loft. Peaceful and quiet. My partner enjoyed the stay a lot and thought it was great. It is a well constructed and nice cabin, too. These aren't necessarily bad but want to give a heads up (if you read the reviews prior to the full description); this is a dry and off-grid cabin. There is no electricity (but there are now some lamps you don't have to light), no plumbing (outhouse a short walk away), half the year there is no water from the sink and no shower, no wifi, no reception, no emergency services. Steep ladder to bed/loft. Someone like my mom would definitely not feel comfortable here. Limited options to eat especially if you have food restrictions (I couldn't eat the spaghetti/lasagna bake dinner but the salad was very good). Breakfast you prepare yourself but nice quality ingredients. (Maybe it's just because this is my first time really paying for accommodations for a trip but I paid a significant amount extra compared to my other stays during this week of travel for the dinner and breakfast and it wasn't what I was expecting overall, but I understand things overall are more expensive and remote in this region, I just wasn't fully prepared so I'm sharing as well!) Prepare for a lot of snow in the winter - this region is in the snowbelt and we were there when there was minimal snow but it's still a few feet high. Didn't really know how to operate the gas lamps and wood stove (but was shown in the tour which was helpful). Kind of surprised there weren't cozy blankets for the couch. No blinds/curtain on the windows so you're not meant to sleep in hehe. No puppies but you're allowed to bring your own which is nice lol.
- Gloria (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful facility and having a yummy supper waiting for us and the stove warming things up nicely was just wonderful!! Thank you Kristy! đ¶
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joshua (10/5): Stunning views, cozy, private, amazing host - Cozy, clean, gorgeous location, and the host had great communication and instructions, as well as an amazing meal ready for us when we finished our exhausting drive. It was a perfect place to stay on the way, and our only regret is that we werenât able to stay longer! Nothing
- Hans (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgwous dinner, gorgeous view, suberb wood-heated tub.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Davis (10/5): Positively enchanting - It was the most luxurious roughing Iâve ever done Nothing
- Boyd (9/5): Superb - Very quiet, beautiful surroundings. Kristy made us bread, soup, salad, and had breakfast available. All were great! There is an outhouse and outdoor shower, which is okay, but didn't like having to go out in the rain.
- Hudson (10/5): Exceptional - phenomenal place and such great value!! delish dinner and breakfast and the view is unreal. A bit of noise from the highway occasionally but not bad. hot tub is a great bonus after a day on the road.
- William (10/5): Vines & Puppies had an amazing log home, with incredible food, and a gorgeous shower mountain view. - Breakfast was delicious, and the view was incredible. Amazing to take a shower to a mountain view. Everything was perfect about the cabin.
- Tamara (10/5): Amazing place, friendly host and a truly magical setting! - Everything about this property is amazing!! I loved staying there and found the whole experience magical. Food was fantastic and being able to disconnect made it even better! That I had to leave! Lol. Seriously, everything was fantastic!!
- Maryrose (10/5): Exceptional - Secluded and the hot tub
- Gaby (10/5): A Great Private Retreat with Good Value - A private retreat, no one else around. Great view of the small lake and river with green forest surrounding. The outdoor hot bath by the lake. The tent, equipped with a small kitchen with water in 2 buckets, dining table and 2 chairs, and the fireplace. Oh and the food given by the host for breakfast (bread) and dinner (clam chowder salad). Hospitality of the host. Just a suggestion to provide perhaps a railing on the steep steps to go up and down from the parking place to the tent. The outhouse toilet was good, however to go out at night was kind of scary as it is in bear country. Would suggest to avail a urine bucket in the tent.
- Ryan (8/5): Great value! Fresh provided meals and breathtaking views. Be prepared for cold temps. - The prepared meal, hot tub, bug repellent, and location were all amazing. Meals were fresh and delicious. The views from every âpieceâ of the property were breathtaking. And although it was close to the road, very little traffic at night and some steps down the hill, kept the noise at a minimum. We were uncomfortable and dissatisfied with the heat from the wood stove. We started the fire immediately upon arrival, but before bed (several hours later) I could still touch the stove with bare hands. All of the heat was escaping. Wood was added a few times throughout the night. Temps dropped to upper 30s (F) by the morning.
- Nesden (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Cozy and comforting - Private, clean and rustic! Beautiful views of the lake from the wood fired hot tub. The dinner served was delicious and very comforting, perfect on a rainy night. Falling asleep to the patter of rain and the crackle of a wood burning fire is just perfect.
- Andy (9/5): Beautiful location, the smallest details were thought of. Would highly recommend!! - The supper was delicious. Homemade bread was better than momsâŠ.well close anyways!
- Rowlands (10/5): For a completely off grid cabin, the function of everything flows smoothly with attention to details - Best Shepard's Pie I have ever had.
It's impossible to leave the place better than one finds it. The place is transformative and one of a kind My mistake I forgot my pet's bed so he was a bit put off lol
- Terry (9/5): A very pleasant experience - Quaint
Remote
- Andy (9/5): Epic - Great location on a private lake front⊠wood burning stove was great as long as u could keep it goingâŠthe soft wood pine burned so quickly!!!
Outdoor hot tub was exceptional even in the rain!!! Check this Glamping tent out u will love it đââïžđ€đŒ All good
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guillaume (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Diner ready when we arrived, even with home made excellent bread. Very clean and excellent decoration. Probably the best place we stayed in. Nothing đ
- Domander (10/5): A bit of heaven... but careful... - Just about everything. A bit of rustic heaven! As Kristy prepares dinner for you, make sure she has asked you about any dietary restrictions, to avoid not being able to eat her meal. There is no other source of food! There is only one cabin and one luxury tent here, so privacy is supreme. Be warned, there is no electricity on site. In summer the near-midnight-sun of the far north will make sleeping difficult. There are no curtains on any windows to block the light. Without eyeshades, you may find yourself waking at the 4 a.m. dawn, as we did.
- Linnéa (10/5): Exceptional - Vines and Puppies is brilliantly located when we're driving to or from Whitehorse and is the best possible last or first night out. Having a warm meal awaiting our arrival, the welcome for our dog, the comfortable bed - we love staying here and look forward to visiting again. All good!
- Carlos (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (9/5): Quiet stay during our road trip - Our host met us on arrival and had dinner in the oven already. She explained the features of the property and then gave us privacy. The food was tasty (and she catered to our vegetarian diet) and the cabin was the perfect size for us. The views by the lakeside were stunning. I need to read a bit better. I didn't realize there was an outhouse, but it was cleaned well and thankfully I didn't have to use it in the middle of the night
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional - This is a dry cabin, so one has to expect outdoor facilities, but this had an amazing open shower overlookin the lake with hot water on demand. The outhouse had auto lighting at night all the way to it, which was a very nice extra. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hostess arrived at dinner with a wonderful homemade meal for which we are very thankful. Everything was exceptional.
- Daniel (10/5): Perfect B&B. The best I have stayed at. - The scenery . The quaintness of the cabin. Very comfortable place - peaceful.
- Linnéa (10/5): Vines and Puppies is the best! - I love the warm welcome we (my dog and I) were given after a long day driving. The home is impeccable and in a stunningly beautiful location. I am looking forward to our next visit and am seriously considering booking for a week. All good!

- Peter (10/5): Truly off grid but comfortable. - Really nice. Decorated, clean and well stocked with food.
- Les (8/5): Nice spot in between civilizations - If you love being in nature and off the grid then you'll love it Wife needed electricity.
- Hollie (9/5): Very comfortable, beautiful economical. - Having a dinner with salad was so nice and I used the left overs for breakfast. Nothing.
- Monique (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the scenery, the place itself and the peace and quiet. Having a hot meal at the end of a long day of traveling is a welcome surprise. Our host was amazing.. This is not the first time I've rented and it won't be the last. I loved everything about it.
- Donald (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing in the wood fired. Hot tub was the icing on the cake. - Location was so peaceful Nothing
- Manoj (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very thoughtful to have dinner ready in the fridge (a very tasty Clam Chowder)and had kept a small handwritten note at the entrance even though we reached at 11 pm after that stressful pitch dark drive thru Cassiar highway from Skagway. That was very relieving and we were hungry enough to gobble it up. N/A
- Julia (10/5): This glamping experience was fabulous and we highly recommend it. - The property was fabulous. Clean, secluded, comfortable, and the home cooked meals she provided were delicious. The wood stove hot tub was relaxing after an afternoon of fishing on the lake. The host was very attentive. Everything was great.
- Pauline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monica (9/5): Superb - The outdoor hot tub is a little piece of heaven after a long drive, and having a home cooked hot meal really hits the spot.
- Elaine (10/5): Lovely place , highly recommended - The Cabin was beautiful . The scenery was unbeatable. The host Kristy was very kind and hospitable .
- Kim (10/5): I would love to stay here again - Awesome location with delicious meals. A few less mosquitoes
- Erika (8/5): Very good - Beautiful spot, wall tent and all furniture, cooking equipment fridge were fine and the proprietor cooked us a generous dinner. The hot tub was great. Nice linens. Very private This is camping and it was quite cold at night even with the wood stove in the tent.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely stay, everything was so well done and we loved the little path to the dock, we will be back! - The cute cabin was just perfect get-a-way with wood burning stove, lovely loft with comfortable bed, and the most amazing dinner and breakfast provided to us. We will be back and stay for longer. It would be great if there were some curtains in loft upstairs to block out the light when you are trying to sleep (in the summer it is light out for almost 20 hours per day)
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristi (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful experience! 10/10 recommend!!! Gorgeous location and the owners were so kind!
- Hailey (10/5): Best cabin in the north - I love the attention to detail from the host.
So clean so tranquil The view, the amenities, the hospitality
- Alastair (10/5): The highlight of our drive north. Northern hospitality, great food, a warm fire and spotless. -
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Lovely place to stay, I would highly recommend Vines and Puppies to anyone! - Excellent location right off the highway with a beautiful view of a lake.
The chalet was very comfortable and cozy, with a fire already lit by the owner when I walked in. She also brought me a delicious warm, homemade dinner and the kitchen was stocked with everything I would need to make myself breakfast in the morning.
It was very clean and comfortable. I canât wait to come back! Nothing!
- Stefan (9/5): Unique place to stay to enjoy the lake and mountain views from your porch ... - Food was very good and location...
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monica (10/5): Best tenting experience ever. - We loved the location. The entire set up with the tent and the hot tub were absolutely perfect. The dinner was delicious, some of the best fish cakes I have ever had. The tent was also fully stocked, so we could have a great breakfast before we left. Not a thing.
- Panagiotis (10/5): Gorgeous views, location, unique 1 night stay with family in a magical cabin. - We stayed a night with my wife and mother in the cabin. We really did not expect it to be so extraordinary. The views are stunning from the cabin, and despite the lack of electricity in cabin, everything has been thoughtfully arranged / planned by the host. The hot meal was awesome , and we had all the supplied to prepare a great breakfast. This place is certainly a unique experience, loved every moment of our brief stay. Mosquitos in the outroom , but not that much can be done really about that and the host left some potent bug spray to deal w/ that tool.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
