The restaurant is very good! Bird/quetzal watching tour by Carlos is excellent. Perhaps a little understaffed but Manuel was fantastic from reception to restaurant service. The rooms are beautiful but possibility for natural ventilation would have been even better.

Manuel su atención un lujo era el cumpleaños de mi esposa y nos atendió demasiado bien, la recepcionista quien nos recibió demasiado atenta (Elisa) nos resolvieron un asunto de la mejor manera un aplauso para todos ellos. La comida es deliciosa demasiado!! Que terminara el paseo jeje

Beautiful location, the trails in the property were fantastic. The breakfast was very good! For the price, I would have expected better bathroom products and free access to a filter water fountain.
• Stefanie (9/5): Great forest experience! - We stayed 1 night deep in their Dantica Forest, which we enjoyed a lot. It was a great experience! The second night we had a room close to reception with amzing views! It was a nice stay! There is nothing we didn‘t like, however it is good to know that some of rooms that are in the forest are quite far from reception and parking lot. The staff helps with luggage, but in our case we had to leave early and no staff was available. But we found a good solution thanks to the receptionist and we could change the room. Our first room was roundabout 700 meters through a forest train - no chance to carry a suitcase there (except if you want to do a tough workout). Still we recommand the lodge and we would go there again!

The view from the room is beyond spectacular and the facilities fantastic (the jacuzzi bath!) Love that it had yoga matts, hot water bottles etc. It was beautiful and clean, the bed was so comfy and the shower was powerful and maintained a constant temperature (something we had been struggling to find throughout our trip) Shout out to our favourite waiter at the restaurant attached, he went above and beyond to help us out. Und die Kolibris/Vögel an den Futterstellen - einzigartig. Die lange Anfahrt. Wir sind von der Karibikseite angereist, ist schon ein Abenteuer, halt Costa Rica und mit Waze (Navigations-App) machbar.

• Andrea (9/5): Peaceful and beautiful location with great rooms - A scenic drive to reach Dantica from the pacific coast. We stayed in a lovely individual bungalow with lounge, 2 bedrooms with en-suite including a jacuzzi bath in the master.& a balcony. Fantastic views from all the rooms with floor to ceiling picture windows. The rooms were heated both from underfloor and a heating unit along with small ethanol fires if needed. It was our favourite hotel location of our tour of Costa Rica. The grounds which are left to nature are perfect to wander along the well marked paths through the forest, but they are challenging. Could’ve easily spent a couple more days here. It was so peaceful. We did have a room close to reception, others as advertised, are a good but very pleasant walk through the forest. The food in the restaurant was delicious and well presented. Breakfast had a great selection and I particularly enjoyed the yogurt and the crepes. Disappointingly the local speciality of the area, trout, was not available on either night of our stay and also no chicken was available on our second evening. The jacuzzi bath pipes needed cleaning as bits were floating in the bath.

• Lorraine (7/5): Great way to experience the cloud forest - Our room was amazing - it had such a great panoramic view of the rainforest from its own terrace and was very private. We had so much space and a jacuzzi bath. We only stayed one night but if we had stayed longer there were so many walks and tours we could have done. It was so high up we were affected by the altitude. Also our room was at least a 15 minute staired walkway from reception and resturant. We ate in the restaurant and food was ok - not brilliant for the price we paid.

• Bruno (10/5): Un hotel incroyable parfaitement placé dans les montagnes pour aller à la découverte du Quetzal - Hotel de grande qualité dans un endroit improbable à 2500 m d'altitude Accueil professionnel mais moyennement chaleureux Hébergement incroyable en flanc de montagne avec une vue magnifique à 270°. Un peu difficile d'accès mais avec un porteur pour les bagages. Restauration à la hauteur avec un bon petit déjeuner. Très bien placé pour aller à la découverte du mythique Quetzal. Un peu cher.

• Harald (10/5): Außergewöhnlich, spektakulär, einfach herrlich! - Die Lage des Quetzal Bungalows ist spektakulär. Alle Bungalows sind im Urwald verteilt, individuell und hochwertig ausgestattet, kleine Terrasse mit toller Aussicht. Natur pur. Tolle Vögel und gut angelegte Trails. Der Urwald-Weg über Gehwegplatten zur Rezeption und Restaurant mit ebenfalls toller Aussicht dauert aber 5 Minuten vom Quetzal Bungalow. Wer in 2.500 m Höhe ein unvergessliches Nebelwald-Erlebnis sucht, ist hier genau richtig.

• Darren (10/5): UNFORGETTABLE!!! it was a dream location and place to stay for all of us! - The staff were friendly, always with a smile and very helpful. The food was delicious, the room was spotless. The decoration was so beautiful and the location was perfect to connect with nature. I will say that internet was not very good, (something in that specific area) but did not bother us so much since the purpose of the trip was to disconnect from all the noise from the "outside" The space in the rooms from our bungalows were huge, so I will say that super king bed could be a nicer instead of double beds.

Worth more than one nights visit. - We only booked this property for one night but having stayed there would have definitely liked to have stayed another few nights but our schedule was against us. We were upgraded to a four person bungalow - number 1 which had stunning views and beautifully equipped with large jacuzzi and cable TV The walks through the nature reserve are wonderful but can be a bit steep in place. The restaurant is very good with the best meal we had on our Costa Rica trip. Nil. Some of the rooms were being done up and some are a long way from the main lodge through the forest parks and might not be suitable for everyone.
• Bernhard (7/5): - Schöne Terrasse mit Blick auf den Nebelwald. Angenehme Sitz- und Relaxgelegenheiten auf der Terrasse und im Zimmer. Toller Whirlpool. Die Sauberkeit auf dem Lodge-Gelände lässt zu wünschen übrig. Die Abfalleinrichtungen neben der Rezeption und weitere auf dem Gelände wurden 3 Tage lang nicht entleert und quollen z. T. über, sodass man seinen Abfall unter die Behälter legen musste. Sonstige Einrichtungen, z.B. Sitzgelegenheiten auf dem Gelände waren z.T. sehr ungepflegt oder desolat. Zudem befand sich neben unserem Bungalow eine Baustelle, da Bungalows renoviert wurden und so laufend Lärm verursacht wurde. Die aufdringliche Klaviermusik im Restaurant war unerträglich.

No me sentí bienvenida durante mi estadía, y creo que la amabilidad es clave para una buena experiencia. Ojalá puedan mejorar ese aspecto, porque el lugar tiene potencial.

• María (6/5): Espectacular excepto por la comida - El enclave en el que están las cabañas es precioso, las cabaña muy bonitas, bien equipadas y diseñadas. Las terracitas son magníficas. El restaurante, el desayuno deja mucho que desear… no está bueno. Nos pusieron al pedir mantequilla incluso margarina, unas cremas sin gracias llenas de grasa… el único pan que tienen es dulce y la única opción gluten free en no comiendo pan pues tampoco hay tortilla. El chocolate caliente es tipo Hersey super azucarado … Mucho por mejorar.

• Angel (10/5): - Fue una experiencia maravillosa. Una de las mejores estadías de todo el viaje a Costa Rica, con unas vistas espectaculares. El personal muy servicial, nos ayudaron a gestionar el lavado de ropa aunque llegamos muy justos de tiempo y nos asesoraron para buscar ubicaciones y horas en donde fotografiar quetzales. Para terminar, el desayuno delicioso también. Súper recomendable.

• LEONEL (9/5): Para descansar, salir de la rutina y hacer un poco de caminata por montaña, especial ¡¡¡ - Es un sitio especial para disfrutar de la paz y tranquilidad que brinda estar hospedados en medio de la naturaleza. Despertar teniendo como paisaje la montaña, ver variedad de aves y otras especies, la verdad no tiene precio. Su restarurante increible y el trato de su personal inigualable.

Zelfs twee wc's waar je door een vloer-tot-plafond-raam naar buiten kijkt. Er zijn levende bomen die door de lodge groeien en de tuin is 's nachts verlicht. Uitstekende koffie en thee faciliteiten op de kamer. Het verblijf heeft een eigen park met goed gemarkeerde en onderhouden trails. Op slippers red je het niet! Het is vrij ver lopen naar de lodge, maar wel door natuur reservaat dus ook mooi. (Je koffers worden naar je huisje gebracht). Boodschappen doen is lastig in de (wijde) omgeving. Neem snacks mee als je niet voor alles in het restaurant wil zijn.

• Luigi (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay at Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge was unforgettable. The manager kindly gave us a free upgrade to a Junior Suite, and what a gift that was! The suite felt magical—large windows in both the living room and bedroom opened directly onto the lush jungle, where we could watch colorful birds flying and resting just outside. The lodge is set inside a beautifully maintained private park with trails that begin right at your doorstep. Walking through the forest, surrounded by nature and silence, was an experience in itself. The breakfast room offers breathtaking panoramic views, and the food was both delicious and refined. The entire property blends elegance with tasteful ethnic design—sophisticated and warm at the same time. This is not just a hotel—it’s a peaceful, immersive nature escape. Highly recommended! It was a great experience.

There was no electricity and no internet for several hours. There was no compensation for the inconvenience of not having had electricity or internet. There was no aparent emergency plan for staff or guests.

• Sara (10/5): Wonderful stay in a special place. - Food and restaurant service exceptional. Dantica is a unique experience in a special part of the world. Our room was fantastic and great for birding but would be difficult to access for folks with any frailty.

We had dinner at the onsite resaurant which was very good. The walk (distance and steepness) from room to the reception area was good work out.

There should have been considerably more revealed about the long and difficult distances required to get to rooms in all kinds of weather and with all kinds of luggage. There are much better hotels in the area that represented better facilities at much lower prices. And this international hotel should offer more multilingual staff capable of responding since they clearly cater to that clientele.
• David (10/5): This was a great stay to hike in the cloud forest, view wildlife and visit neighboring areas. - It’s a quiet wilderness retreat with plenty of open space in the cloud forest. Nothing.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. Nothing except breakfast was a bit too earl for a family with teenagers

The rooms are not designed for the cold nights, bring warm clothing or you will have a hard time with almost the almost 0C nights.

• Anne-marie (10/5): Beautiful cosy hotel with excellent service. - The view from the cabin was great. The hiking paths were fun and the meals at the restaurant delicious. The interior of the cabins is a little past its prime but still okay.
• Susanne (7/5): Nice interior but needs renovation - Nice interior and stunning view through the huge windows. We had quite a bit of mold in one room. The bathrooms also need some work: the joints were damaged or had mold as well, lamps and trays were rusty. The room was not completely clean: we had coffee left in the machine, the huge windows had stains from hands and faces and the trash can was dirty.

• Jeffrey (7/5): Enjoyed the food but would stay elsewhere next time. - The restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. The rooms had a distant view, but no trees or birds anywhere close. The hummingbirds visited the feeder on each balcony, but that is NOT a nature thing. The hotel should NOT be using sugar water to attract the birds. The rooms are a LONG, LONG way up and down hills to get to the dining room or the parking lot. The quetzals are never found at this altitude -- only at the properties lower in the river valley. Wish I had known.
