• Kurt (8/5): We had a comfortable stay in a natural environment. - It was quiet (except for parrots and monkeys), well landscaped and in nature. The breakfast was tasty. Our drive to the airport was easy. The lodgings seemed a bit dated, but were clean. The upper windows had only screens, which meant we were wasting electricity by running the mini split. They had only very fat pillows, which we often found at lodgings in Costa Rica. The lodging and food cost more than at any other places we stayed, but it might have been because it was closer to a city.
• Lani (7/5): Hidden garden spot for travelers on Highway 1 near Liberia - Charming and rustic, friendly staff, and there were even deer roaming the grounds. Near the highway, but bungalows are far enough removed thar we didn’t hear traffic. Our Standard room was small but clean and comfortable for our 1-night stay. The on site restaurant offered a good range of dinner choices, and a tasty breakfast buffet. It was a difficult to find, the hotel signage is hard to spot from the highway & you can only enter from the northbound lanes. As the highway was recently widened, the hotel entrance drive was reduced and now requires a sharp right turn from highway speed traffic.

• Laura (10/5): Un parfait séjour au cœur de la nature et des animaux - Le lieu fait figure d’un petit parc avec des animaux en liberté tout autour. Nous avons eu le plaisir de profiter de regarder les singes alors que nous étions dans la piscine. Les chambres sont très bien équipées et propres. Le personnel est très sympathique et aux petits soins. C’est vraiment un endroit paisible et agréable pour faire une escale notamment.
• SERGIY (10/5): - Upon arrival, we discovered that the hotel has a very large territory, with small buildings (rooms) spread across the entire property. Deer, capybara and other animals roam freely around the grounds, and can even be observed from the room terrace, which was a very special experience. There is also a wonderful, large swimming pool. On the downside, the water pressure in the shower was quite weak, and there were mosquitoes.

• Jennifer (9/5): Comfortable - The beds were so comfortable and that is so unusual in Costa Rica. They also had a good AC unit that cooled the room down well. The restaurant was good with a variety of options. T hey did have quite a few ants in the place, which is to be expected in the tropics, but if they did a better job of sealing the door, it might prevent that.

It was the perfect stop on our drive to La Fortuna. Breakfast service from the menu, not buffet, was delicious. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Nothing to note
• Dagmar (9/5): Wunderschön mit gerade noch ausreichendem Frühstück - Die Suite ist riesengroß und gemütlich, Superküche, alles sehr ansprechend und wertig. Agutis, Brüllaffen und Weißwedelhirsche im umgebendenweitläüfigen Park. Lage direkt an der Interamericana, aber trotzdem fast überall ruhig durch die Vegetation. Sehr großer, sauberer Pool, in dem man richtig schwimmen und Bahnen ziehen kann. Das Frühstück war vergleichsweise mäßig - Angebot wie in jedem noch so kleinen Hotel, in dem wir waren, aber hier als Buffet und außerdem ganz offensichtlich über Stunden einfach warmgehalten, was man an der Konsistenz und dem Geschmack gemerkt hat. Auch das Obst stand einfach offen und war nicht mehr sehr appetitlich. Passt nicht so richtig zum sonstigen Eindruck und der Kategorie.
• Steve Schaller (10/5): Perfect Evening - Right from the beginning, we knew that this place was going to be exceptional and we had hoped to stay here for 2 nights. But they were full, so we could only enjoy one night. We took advantage of the pool and watching wildlife around the room. The restaurant was fantastic and a wonderful place to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Big Cat rescue place the next day. An early morning guided bird walk would have been wonderful, but not everyone enjoys the birds like we do.

Now the location is a little in the middle of nowhere but for us it was no issue as it was a perfect stop with our kids on our journey from Liberia airport to Quepos.

• Alan (9/5): Always enjoy my stays there - My third time there. Very comfortable rooms. Spotlessly clean, love the tame animals who live freely at the property. Deer and agoutis wander about with no fear.. This is not a zoo, just a safe place. Restaurant is quite good. Some reviewers say overpriced but we did not think so. Huge menu. I didn't arrange trips though management this time but have in the past and was very happy. I'll be back again. Not the Hacienda's fault, but road is getting busier. In the 100 habitaciones, there is some road noise. None elsewhere.

La señora del domingo en el desayuno del restaurante de iniciativa propia nos trajo del pancito calientito muy atenta. Y la del lunes toda especial pese a que habíamos llegado pasadas las 10 am, ella muy amablemente nos atendió y nos ofreció desayuno. Sin duda de lo mejor q tiene el hotel es su personal. Las vistas hermosas. El ambiente tranquilo, los venados y una guatusa que nos acompañó en el desayuno.

• Andrew (9/5): Beautiful Hotel with a Private Wildlife Rescue Center Next Door - This hotel is a surprising find right off the main north/south highway in Costa Rica. The grounds are vast and well-manicured. There is a beautiful pool and the rooms are very comfortable and large. Patios adjoining the rooms have rocking chairs with a view of the grounds. The evening meal and breakfast were great. Next door, within walking distance, is a private wildlife rescue center, where, for a reasonable ticket price, you can wander around large cages containing monkeys, tropical birds, pumas, turtles and other animals. Each animal and bird has been given a name and there is a brief description about under what circumstances it was rescued.

• Susan (8/5): I had an appointment in Canas one day and Liberia the next day. - Loved loved loved that it was hidden among dense trees, offering a cool reprieve for us humans and many animals from usual Guanacaste heat. True Costa Rica setting. Wildlife was prevalent. Also such history at this lodge. Ah-Fabulous pool too! Would make a perfect stay for those arriving at Liberia Airport, prior to heading to Palo Verde, Monteverde, or La Fortuna. For us the location was perfect. But it isn’t in a location most people seek as a destination. ( Excellent for a Palo Verde visit or any stay “away” from the barren airport area. )

• Kelly (6/5): - We arrived right as it got dark. Check in went quick. We stayed here one night to avoid too much driving in one day. We stayed in a little cabin back in the woods. The sliding doors in the room didn’t completely close and it felt like we had a lot of bugs visiting us. Many ants on the floor, woke up to a scorpion in the sink. That said, we are in Costa Rica and some of that is to be expected and we are okay with that. I think next time we need to stay in Liberia and a place with more people around. I was nervous the whole night and didn’t sleep well. The main door did lock. It was the sliding door that made me nervous. I did get a fruit plate and gallo pinto and both were delicious:) we arrived at 6pm and checked out by 8am so we didn’t spend much time looking around. Breakfast was $9 each, so reasonable, but I misunderstood and thought it was a buffet and it wasn’t so that was my fault. Overall, although the staff was nice, we most likely won’t be back.
