Guest Reviews
- Kylie (10/5): -
- Tony Noorda (10/5): Bucket list experience, so good. - A bit of a bucket list trip for me, Great communication, great value and amazing experience, from the boat driver training at pickup (how to drive, park and camp) to the easy process at dropoff, the whole experience could not have been better. Besides the beautiful Murray, all the birds and wild life, we even managed to catch a couple of fish! Yes I would happily recomend Moama on Murray houseboats.
- Amy (8/5): Affordable and well kitted out! Highly recommend. - Excellent value. Comfy bed. Great BBQ. Very friendly and helpful staff!

- Toads (8/5): found this experience stress free good staff - good service very helpful nothing
- Monika (8/5): Very good -
- Eva (10/5): Great way to explore the river from a different perspective. - The camping boat is just that. It makes camping on the Murray a portable experience. No need to set up just float down the river and dock. The boat had everything you needed. Swimming off the back once it was docked was fun. We sat out there in the sun and fished. So peaceful, luckily we had fantastic weather.
- Michael (9/5): My wife 2 children and myself had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this for family’s - Easy to deal with everything was well thought out with the boat
- Cassandra (10/5): Exceptional - Better than expected. Staff were amazing, boat was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Very reasonable prices.
- Nichole (10/5): Exceptional - Great way to spend a long weekend exploring some of the Murray
- Claire (10/5): It was great 👍 - Everything, it was so relaxing Nothing
- Bradley (7/5): Good - The boat had the number of beds required and the facilities such as toilet and shower required for the trip The bunk beds needed better foam as they were very uncomfortable, the shower was rustic and hard to use as the shower head was at waist level.
The plank to enter and exit the boat needed additional runners to slide it in and out as it got jammed and was difficult to extend.
The stereo didn’t work which wasn’t a big issue as we had a Bluetooth speaker but neither did the cigarette adapter on the helm which meant we had to find another way to blow up our inflatable items for the Aust day float.
- Leonie (5/5): Passable -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE TO EXPLORE THE RIVER - On arrival the company was really easy to deal with, the communication leading up to getting to where the boats were located was really good
We were shown the do's and the don'ts when operating the boat and where everything was and how to operate everything
Found the boat easy to operate and was comfy enough for a couple
We arrived back early to the jetty and Locky made sure the air-conditioner was operating while we had to wait to be picked up
Highly rate this company to deal with Nothing, really enjoyed our time on the boat
- Lal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Highly Recommend. - We had the camping boat which is basic (in no way is it meant to be 5 star, thats part of it's charm!). We had an amazing time and would highly recommend it for anyone who loves camping and wants to try something a bit different.
The staff were very informative and friendly, the boat was well kept and had everything we needed. The canvas sides were lime new and had weights that make them easier to roll up and down.
The dvd player onboard was a big hit with the kids and I loved being able to charge my phone.
We were able to park and walk into Echuca for ice-creams and found places for a swim. Watching and hearing the Paddle Steamers from the river is a beautiful expirence.
Highly recommend and will most likely be back ourselves!

- John (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional accommodation & value for 2 people. Much better than anticipated.
- Brett (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, very helpful
- Karlie (9/5): Amazing experience, the ultimate getaway to relax and unwind - Amazing experience, the boat had everything we needed and more. It was easy to use, great facilities onboard and comfy and clean bedding. Sleep under the stars in comfort. Full mobile service most of the way down the river and charging available. Best to take an esky onboard for extra fridge space
- Kevin (6/5): Memory my son will have for the rest of his life. - The ease and simplicity of the booking and pick-up and drop=off. Not much, if it was better than it already was, it would be a lot more expensive.
- Jennifer (10/5): Loved the experience - would do it again! - So different to anything else we’ve done. The little camping boat was a good size for us to drive and explore the Murray river around Echuca. We mostly had the river to ourselves and enjoyed waking up to the bird noise in the mornings. Parking the boat on the riverbank was a bit stressful, and we were thankful for the 24hr on call staff - although we didn’t need to call them. Mostly amazing facilities for a small boat, but the toilet is only surrounded by canvas inside, so gives visual privacy but not much other. Also the water pump was quite noisy.
- Kane (9/5): Super easy, affordable and fun little boat! - Was so much bigger than expected, had everything you needed, easy to drive around, plenty warm and dry enough, the host Damien was a legend!!
- Kristy (1/5): Bad - Moama and Echuca are beautiful. We had multiple issues with the houseboat. The first boat lost steering and the toilet flush mechanism failed. The cooktop didn't work and the windows leaked leaving our bed damp. Taking on water from the toilet was the final straw that led us to return the boat within the first 24 hours of a 4 night booking.
They offered for us to stay in a much larger houseboat but had to remain docked at their site. We were given a pontoon boat to take up and down the river but with the cooler weather we would have preferred the enclosed smaller houseboat originally booked. The larger houseboat also presented with issues. No working TV and the hot tub leaked all over the deck. Noticed that the fire alarms were missing batteries as well.
The staff did attempt to 'fix' each issue but overall the trip failed to meet expectations.
The offer for us to finish our stay on the larger houseboat was meant to 'make-up' for the issues on the smaller boat but overall the experience was second rate. Attention to detail and maintenance is lacking. All the boats seem in rough shape.
- Dominique (10/5): Extraordinary trip, magic scenic views. Simple, yet very well equipped, perfect for 3 winter days - Extraordinary trip. Beautiful scenic views
Simple but very good equipment
- Michael (9/5): Absolutely amazing, great adventure!! - The staff was amazing. The houseboat was all that been stated on website. Nothing was a bother!! Loved being on the river but would have liked some more tourist attractions along the way.
- Anthony (9/5): We had two amazing days on the houseboat, found it very relaxing fun and caught quite a few fish to boot - It was beautiful going up and down the river wherever we wanted
- Denise (10/5): We will be back -
- Iris (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was very helpful and the houseboat was very clean. The weekend was just perfect
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb -
- Meghan (8/5): Fantastic fun on the houseboat and river. - Great way to experience an amazing location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wish we had longer!
- Tammy (7/5): We had a brilliant time. Very relaxing! - We loved the fact that we could moor anywhere on the river.
It gave us the flexibility to try different areas, and not be stuck in the one place. The toilet! Need to have better chemicals in the cartridges as it really did stink. Struggled to shower in there.
The kitchen needs a toaster.
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (10/5): Had the best time on the houseboat, the staff were extremely accomodating -
- Kerryn (4/5): First holiday blues - We have never been on a houseboat as that was exciting The toilet was in the shower, we weren’t shown how to change the toilet cassette which after a few days began to smell and we had to moor at the companies dock and stay there just so I could go to the toilet. This meant everytime we showered the toilet paper would get soaked, the stench made us feel sick. We also didn’t have hot running water after the first evening and did switch the system as shown in the manual. So had to boil water to wash dishes and shower in cold water
- Hamer (10/5): the right trip you didnt know you needed. - From the birds singing a morning song to the staff with ideas for you to do. All so close at hand, or the rocking to sleep at night this place was perfect for everyone a great holyday..... It was wonderful. nothing really nothing it was perfect..... Ok going home I did not like that.
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Tinh (8/5): Can't expect too much for camping boat. - Check in and out so easy all other things is up to you. Toilet stink
- Kellie-anne (8/5): Very good - Very basic camper but perfect for two.
Friendly helpful staff. A great economical little getaway on the water.
- Jo (7/5): I’m glad we did the trip. - The location on the Murray and watching the paddle steamers go up and down on the river. Having items stolen from the back of our ute that was parked in the Moama on Murray Houseboats carpark.
The people going up and down on ski doos and boats very fast that made the boat move and the water poor into the boat. This is not an issue that can be controlled by the Moama on Murray Houseboat team.
- Jenni (9/5): Well worth the stay , - Everything N/A
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in the camping boat. It was great. Our family had a great holiday
- Kovac (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Great experience and only positive feedback. Next time a would go a larger boat though. - Location being close to town and inside the main resort made for secure parking, staff were very helpful and easy to talk to. Room to move on the boat was lacking for me and next time would opt for a larger one. Cooking space was limited and a larger area out the back with larger BBQ would help but understanding the size of the boat we were in can only fit what you can fit and was set out well.
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Anthea (8/5): This was an ideal mid-winter break for a couple to get just a bit out of their comfort zone. - We hired a little houseboat. Received clear boarding instructions prior to arrival and found a friendly greeting and orientation to our craft. The boat was easy to manage and the river was not busy so we had the place to ourselves mostly. Our only mishap was an overflowing effluent cassette under the toilet. A warning light should have alerted us to change the cassette but there was evidently a malfunction. The space on board was tiny-about the size of a small caravan....which was not a bother to us, but some of the furnishings could have been a bit more practical.
- Suzanne (10/5): Amazing - Everything. It was amazing to enjoy all the facilities and little things to be found on ‘just a camping boat.
- Andrew (10/5): great weekend exploring the Murray river very relaxing will do it again one day - had most of the things required and was comfortable very nit picky but our house boat could have done with USB plug in dash like our friends did
- Natnshell (10/5): MUST DO! FANTASTIC TRIP. - We loved this trip. For the price you cannot ask for any better. Great check in, safety briefing, clean boat, black and grey water tanks, generator, inverter for hubby's cpap, comfy enough bed, warm shower, great BBQ to cook our lamb roast on and location FANTASTIC. Easy to operate, owners great to deal with and cannot wait to book again! The weekend ended too soon! Our friends had the Explorer which had comfier cruise seats and front deck which was great whilst cruising for them. Sitting out back whilst cruising was too noisy.
- Craig (7/5): Good - Serinity. Could not ask for better service Nothing
- David (10/5): Definitely do it again- great experience - Size and mobility were great
- Susan (10/5): A lovely surprise find on Booking.com! - Moama Houseboats On The Murray
This couples trip away has been a long time coming! So when looking for a couples holiday on Booking.com, we were so surprised and pleased to see the “Houseboat for two” advertised as an option!
Being on a small houseboat is not a “luxurious” accommodation option, but having the freedom to travel anywhere you like on the Murray definitely is!
The houseboat for two had everything we needed for our 4 night stay away… for anyone going for longer than two nights - the boat could definitely do with more toilet paper, large garbage bags and a couple more towels though. We were so very happy to find out that the bed on the boat was very comfortable, just like “home” ;-)
On our previous Lake Eildon houseboat trip (overpriced !) we had to supply all bedding and linen, whereas the house boat for two on the Murray had it all.
We did prepare ahead though with packing our own linen which turned out to be a good idea because over the period of a 5 day, 4 night trip in July where the Murray river was flooded and the banks were muddy it came in handy to have “spares”.
The bathroom is a very simple “wet room” with a portable toilet and mini shower. One inconvenience was getting wet feet / socks when using the toilet during the night, so unless you thoroughly dry the floor after every use of the shower, you chance the possibility of transferring the water and dirt from your feet onto the floor, back into bed, not to mention having to change your socks umpteen times if not wearing shoes! (hence the need for additional towels, or use a mop!)
There is some under bed storage which was helpful, we brought a fair bit of stuff for our long trip as we left home two nights before our houseboat booking, we stayed at motels along the way and didn’t want to forget anything. There’s plenty of cupboard space if you move things around. Making a fire on the bank at night (in winter) and fishing off the bank is amazing!. Nothing not to like - but fish were scarce due to flooding but still loved the getaway more than any other holiday we could’ve picked!!!
;-)
- Sean (8/5): Very good -
- Pat (10/5): Enjoyed 3 nights on the river cruiser. Will definitely look to hire again in the future. - House boat was awesome. Will be back again!
- Robbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shafa (10/5): this is my bucket list.I am very happy and blessed - easy to park and we can go around the river.can park everywhere we want. nothing all good
- Maxlec (10/5): Rivercruiser getaway - We loved being able to cruise up and down the Murray at our own leisure. The River Cruiser was an ideal vessel for two. Had everything we needed as was very cosy and comfortable. Chris was a great help and showed through and how to drive the boat. Highly recommend and would love to do it again Not realising that when you first go ashore, it can get boggy. I would bring gumboots or go barefoot.
- Julie (10/5): Our holiday was very relaxing we could just pull up about anywhere and do some fishing - The location was perfect for our Easter getaway and we had all we needed to be comfortable. The boat was clean and the mattress was so comfortable for us and the staff were very helpful and nice to deal with.
We would highly recommend a boating holiday
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (8/5): Highly recommend this to everyone - A great experience overall n/a
- Carly (10/5): Exceptional - we hired the Camping Boat for 5 days over the S80 and was so happy with the experience, the communication with Chris was excellent and he was very accommodating. Will definitely hire house boats through him again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- Annette (8/5): Very good -
- Alannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antonietta (10/5): A great experience, I would go again and hire a bigger boat and have a longer stay. - It was a great experience, and easy houseboat to maneuver once we got the hang of it and we were confident with what we were going. It was relaxing to sail up and down the Murray River. The host was always available for assistance, casual and friendly na
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): This stay met all our expectations given that we went prepared for the expected conditions. - This was a camping experience with a difference. Located on the River Murray with fast flowing waters the houseboat camper was a unique challenge to live on for a few days and navigate upstream and downstream.
The assistance and guidance by Chris was professional, friendly and efficient.
- Christine (9/5): great little adventure - easy to get to and boat was neat and tidy and easy to drive and use only thing I’d do differently is I’d take my own blanket as it was cold and the blanket wasn’t warm enough
