- Athina (1/5): Avoid at all costs – Horrible experience! - I booked this apartment through Booking.com, and it was hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The listing was completely misleading. What was advertised as a cozy, welcoming apartment turned out to be a very dark, basement with an entrance that felt more like the backdoor to a storage room. It was nothing like the photos!
The apartment itself was poorly maintained:
- The bed was unbearably squeaky and uncomfortable.
- The internet barely worked, making it impossible to even send an email.
- Worst of all, they forgot to provide a blanket or duvet cover for the bed!
When I contacted the owner about the missing covers, her initial response was shockingly unprofessional. She said the weather was "good enough" that I didn’t need a blanket and suggested I "open the air conditioner." Her reasoning? She sleeps without covers, so I should be fine too. Even when I insisted, she said she couldn’t bring any until the next day.
After further pushing during a phone call, the owner eventually changed her mind and offered to bring covers after 9 PM that same day, but by then, it was already too late – we had left the apartment within an hour of check-in because we couldn’t stay in such poor conditions.
To make matters worse, I requested a free cancellation, but the owner refused and accused me of deceit! Booking.com itself offered no help, stating they are not responsible for verifying the accuracy of listings on their platform.
This was a nightmare experience from start to finish, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this property (or trusting Booking.com’s lack of accountability) to look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress and book something else.
