Guest Reviews
- Sonya (7/5): Good 'base' for sightseeing. Better for night owls and heavy sleepers. - Spacious, nicely appointed living space with comfy beds. The details say no WiFi, but there is WiFi provided. Staff were keen to rectify problems when contacted.
The location was within easy walking distance of local amenities and transport links, and made a great base of operations. Takeaway restaurant in the building is great! The place is in need of some repairs, in particular on windows and doors. One window did not shut properly, and we couldn't open it for fear of making that worse, which wasn't great given the heat. The front door was really awkward to lock and unlock, and the handle seems to be coming off.
If you're after peace and quiet at night, this place is less than ideal, as it's above a restaurant, and there can be quite a few noisy people about. Windows don't seem to be very good at shutting out noise from the street. It's quite enough in the day though.
We also had some trouble getting in. The owner was not there to meet us and the lockbox with the key was inside the building. I had trouble reaching the mobile number given to us, which may well not have been the owner's fault but a network problem. It worked when we rang from Skype. He then told us to ring the upstairs neighbour's doorbell, and he came to let us in. The owner gave us instructions and a code over the phone. I would have preferred a text message with instructions and the code, which would have made everything much simpler.
Finally, when we arrived there were no bath towels (only hand towels) and the cutlery drawer was severely lacking. I messaged to say so, and the owner later dropped off two bath towels and a bunch of brand new cutlery. He said previous visitors had stolen them. I sympathize, but that seems like the sort of thing you should notice and rectify when cleaning and preparing the place for new guests.
It all got sorted out and wasn't much of a problem, but my score would have been a little higher without these minor inconveniences.
