Guest Reviews
- Waino (8/5): - Location, breakfast, clean Room temperature was cold
- Wolfgang (10/5): -
- Jennifer (5/5): - it's about six blocks up a mild incline from the train station which is close I suppose though when you're dragging luggage it doesn't seem close. Breakfast was minimal but adequate and it's nice that it was included. Room was bare minimum but adequate however needed some routine maintenance. first of all it's hard to find because there is no place called "petite" helvicia. This small hotel and restaurant above a bakery is called "helvicia hotel restaurant" when you finally locate the sign that doesn't say what you thought you were looking for you go up about 10 stone steps and then turn to the right and go up another 10 stone steps and then if your room is on the first available floor there is another 15 steps that curve around. If your room is on the third or fourth floor that is another 10 steps per floor. There is no lift and if you're carrying luggage , especially heavy or large luggage or more than one piece this is quite a little nightmare.
The room was very tiny but clean but some maintenance is neglected like a piece of "tile " falling out of the shower because of water intrusion and a hole behind the bed, and the window didn't latch closed properly.
There is no noise insulation between rooms so it can be quite noisy and also from the bar across the street people out late.
- RANJAN KUMAR (3/5): - My honest review of Petit Helvetia:
This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we had during our Europe trip. We stayed in many hotels across different parts of Europe, but this hotel felt extremely uncomfortable, strange, and unprofessional.
1. The hotel staff were very uncooperative and unfriendly.
2. Nobody helped with luggage, which is disappointing for a hotel that claims to provide proper hospitality.
3. The hotel did not feel safe or secure at all.
4. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very weird and uncomfortable. Even other guests we spoke with said the same thing and mentioned that the place felt abnormal.
5. At night, the hotel genuinely felt scary. The environment and atmosphere gave very disturbing vibes, almost like something paranormal or horror-like was going on. It was difficult to feel relaxed or comfortable there.
6. The most unacceptable part was that hotel staff entered our room for “room service” without our permission, even though we never requested it. Entering a guest’s room without consent is highly inappropriate and a serious violation of privacy.
7. The rooms were extremely small, no enough light and dark .
8. We were told breakfast was included, but the service was terrible. Staff ignored us repeatedly, and even asking for something as basic as coffee felt impossible because the lady staff member would barely respond.
Overall, the experience was disappointing, uncomfortable, and very unprofessional. We did not feel welcomed, safe, or respected as guests. I would definitely not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. My honest review of Petit Helvetia:

- Kaushik (8/5): -
- Rafael (9/5): Muito boa.
- Allen (9/5): - Great breakfast!
- Camille (7/5): -
- Cimignani (5/5): - Location Really old facilities and a bit dirty…
- Judit (8/5): -
- RAFFAELLLA (5/5): -
- Rainer (9/5): -
- Carol (8/5): Great location - Fabulous location. View of the Matterhorn from our window. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Very small room, difficult when opening suitcases. No lift, but expected for this type of building.
Beim Frühstück war alles vorhanden, was man braucht.
- Indah (8/5): - comfortable and great location a lot of stairs
- Amy (10/5): - Amazing views of the Matterhorn for a great price stay
- Pablo Eric (8/5): - Muy bien. Ka ubicación central a todos lados. Linda habitación. Buen desayuno..
- Andrew (6/5): Hotel more suited to younger people - Very central location and close to railway station It was very noisy and the room was very small
- Greer (4/5): - Location was good, lots of restaurants and coffee shops in the area. One of the least expensive hotels in the area. Very small room & small bathroom. Beds too short for 6ft+.
Breakfast buffet was basic but enough food.
- Arlen (8/5): Met our expectations for a quick overnight sua -
- Eric (8/5): -
- Lynch (4/5): - It was central and easy to get around The reception was closed and I just grabbed the key from the reception area myself. The floor in the shower almost flooded because the drainage was blocked. The toilet cleaner holder had so much water inside and very unhygienic. It was very small inside and wasn't cheap either.
- Sawa (8/5): -
- Hien (10/5): Overall, we are very happy with what we paid for in Zermatt - Check-in time supposed to be at 2:00, but we arrive a little passed 12:00 all 2 rooms were ready to check in. We were very satisfied about that. Toilet bowl cover is broken and bathroom door is broken too in my room #2 floor 1.
Just a little confused by the time we arrived at location, it took us a while to find the sign to your hotel, afterwards everything is simple with the list and room key board
- Nurul Syafiqah (10/5): Excellent - Location, breakfast N/A
- Christine (5/5): Quirky ‘old world’ budget hotel, not cheap, with good breakfast and location but difficult access - The breakfast was good - fruit, hard-boiled eggs, nice bread, jams, cheeses and charcuterie, pastries, with friendly breakfast staff. Breakfast room had character, in old world alpine style. Location was good, less than 10 minutes walk from station. No reception staff at a 5pm arrival time . Very steep narrow stairs with no elevator, so may not be suitable for people with even mild restrictions on mobility if carrying suitcases. Beds clean but bedding clearly tumble dried with no attempt at ironing. Water for shower hard to get to a low enough temperature to shower, than would suddenly turn scalding hot. Opposite a bar so some rooms may be noisy.
It’s a budget hotel but is expensive, though we understand everything in Zermatt is expensive!

- trevor (5/5): Poor experience in Zermatt - The location was very ideal. On arrival we walked up the joint hotel /restaurant staircase, the only entrance, to be greeted by a surly man who pointed at the hotel key rack and barked "this isn't the hote y'knowl"! Whilst we acknowledge that we booked a traditional chalet, we experienced some unexpected issues. We were located on the top, fourth, floor accessed via a narrow staircase. According to the room details there was a recently installed fire escape located next to the window in the stairwell. We searched but there wasn't one. The room though quaint was tired. We could'nt operate the shower situated over a worn jacuzzi bath. The only person we saw, was a young woman who seemed to be providing all the services the next morning. She was very plessant.
- Francisco (8/5): -
- Srikanta Dutta (5/5): - The location is excellent - very close and easily walkable from the station. That said, Zermatt is quite small, so most hotels are conveniently located within walking distance anyway. The room felt very cramped and quite small. The shower was too tight to stand comfortably. There is no lift, which can be inconvenient. Breakfast was average and nothing special. So around/over 200 euros is overpriced.
- Liliane (8/5): -
- Wilson (9/5): Great stay for a day or two - Excellent location. Close to everything This is an old property so no elevator. If you are old and heavy, not good for you. Not sure about other rooms but the shower space is really small.
- gerchak (10/5): - Ubicacion. Atencion personal 3 pisos por escalera
- Sabrina (5/5): The staff were quite grumpy. Stained sheets and carpet along with the stairs and builders made it the worst stay of my t - Location excellent, reasonable price Sheets and carpet had stains. Builders working in open room only metres opposite my window. Too many stairs for anyone with luggage or knee issues. I did advise in advance and asked for a lower room. If I had been told they were giving me third floor up circular wooden stairs, I wouldn’t have stayed. Had to restrict my room visits due to stairs and builders. Step up and over into bath for shower difficult as it is higher than most.
- Eveline (5/5): - Gut gelegen, nähe Bahnhof Kleines Zimmer Für eine Nacht i. O.
- Katja (7/5): - Bequemes Bett
Super Lage
Apesar dos pros e contras voltava a hospedar-me neste Alojamento.

- Sarah (7/5): Old fashioned cozy place. Met expectations. - The room was fine. Good breakfast. Very difficult to find as the hotel name given in the reservations was not the name on the front. It took over 1 hour to find the hotel when it should have taken 5 minutes. The shower was hand-held with a large tub (not expected.)
- Pavel 2086 (8/5): -
- freek (7/5): - Geen overbofide uitleg.
- Seloterio (9/5): - Enormous! Best check in ever
- Khurram (7/5): Good location, waking distance from station. - Value for money. Staff was very good. Old style narrow stairs tough for upper floors
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Isabel (9/5): - Gute Lage, nicht weit zum Bahnhof. Netter empfang. Das Frühstück war gut. Wir würden wieder dort übernachten. Wir haben nichts zu Beanstanden
- Karen (9/5): Quaint little place to stay with a lovely breakfast 😊 - An excellent view of Matterhorn from my window. Very authentic. A lot of stairs
- Thapakorn (8/5): - Convenient location, in a shopping district, and you can leave your luggage after check-out. There was noise from a nearby entertainment venue. The ventilation fan is malfunctioning in some room.
- weiting_taiwan (5/5): -
- Chan (2/5): Save yourself the pain and pay a little more for a better hotel - Toilet seat broken, shower door missing, had no warm water for shower for the first night
Heater knob is broken so it gets very hot at night since you can't adjust the heat or turn it off
Walls are very thin so you can hear everything in other rooms and lots of bars and crowds late into the night
Owner came into my room without knocking to take one of the blankets from my room, on the last day came to chase me out of the room before the check out time
- Florian (8/5): -
- Daria (9/5): -
Fernbedienung TV ohne Batterie.
- Abhilash (7/5): -
- Ed (5/5): Budget hotel. It does what it says on the tin. - Central location. Sabrina at breakfast very helpful Clean. It is what it says it is. A budget hotel. So some watermarks on the ceilings from leaks. A bit noisy. No ski room. But these are all part of the inescapable fact that it is indeed a ‘budget’ option.
- Chanin Setapura (8/5): - Location No elevator
- Vincenzo (8/5): Ok - Ok Ok
- Moumita Biswas (7/5): - View from the window. Not so many options in their breakfast. No lifts (most tiring part).
- Denis (8/5): Great location for budget friendly - Location Very compact
- Julia (10/5): Great location and easy check-in despite arrival being delayed until midnight due to flights. - Location. Lots of circular stairs making carrying of luggage a little difficult.
- Nigel (7/5): It was advertised as no frills and thats what you get. It suited our needs. All good. - The location was excellent. Our host, although completely lacking any social skills, was lovely. Our room was on the top floor (there is no lift!). It was advertised as budget and didn't exceed our expectations. But you get what you pay for. It was clean, practical and functional. We didn't go to Zermatt to see the hotel room. Breakfast was buffet style with not too many choices but again its a budget hotel for a reason. It is a short walk from the railway station, you really don't need a taxi to get there. The entrance is to the LHS of the Italian restaurant and rooms are above it. The shower in our room was old school. A bath with a shower connected to the tap. Unfortunately the lever which switched the water from tap to shower was broken. In fairness it is not something I would expect the cleaners to check so, although it made bath time interesting I have no idea how long this has been the case and we weren't staying long enough for it to be an issue. We did report it so hopefully this has been rectified. Room 14 in case any one reads this and has the same problem.
- Penelope (6/5): Fine but not the top of our list for a repeat visit. - Excellently placed in the very centre of Zermatt. Very comfortable beds, clean and well presented throughout. Staff we’re lovely and breakfast was very good although modest. Ideal ‘base camp’ for skiers and folks who will be out all day. Rooms are very very small. Barely room to walk around the bed. Bathroom even smaller if you’re on the larger side you will genuinely struggle with the bathroom especially the shower. The entire property requires steps to accesses so not great with heavy cases and impossible for wheelchair users.
- monirupa (8/5): - Location is just few minutes walk from the train station and not too uphill. The room size was little smaller than we expected, also there were stairs to access the room however in this region i would think that is expected.
Also the room virtually did not block any outside noise, there is a restaurant right below the room and you could hear ppl talking till late at night. Also the noise from upstair rooms were also pretty audible ( like ppl walking or just getting in and out of the bed)
The bathroom had a sliding door which was super noisy and our kiddo was getting disturbed in his sleep whenever either of us had to use it.
- Andreas (7/5): -
- Grit (4/5): -
- Tobias (7/5): - Sehr einfache Abwicklung beim einchecken.
- Wolfgang (6/5): -
- John (9/5): Lovely rooms in the center of Zermatt, close to train station and would not hesitate to return or r. - Location, staff. Room very adequate in center of town. Very enjoyable for a short visit. Missed breaky due to early departure but I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend. No elevator, but no big deal if traveling light.
- Esther (10/5): - Great location,
- Susan (5/5): - Breakfast Tiny room, no where for suitcases.
