Guest Reviews
- Monika (9/5): Ár-érték arányban,szuper - Finom reggeli,jó kiszolgálás,csodás kilátás!
- Nicky (10/5): - Excellent location, very good hosts, food was amazing
- Ivan (2/5): Hamdi stole me 8500 EGP - Hamdi, the owner of Moon boat accommodation, can help you organise a very nice trip for sightseeing of Luxor heritage. He can drive you anywhere and can pick you up after your visit. The breakfast is fine and safe. We booked a balloon flight for the next day via Hamdi, the owner. I gave him 8500 EGP for three passengers. The flight got cancelled for weather situation, but I haven't got my money back. Hamdi said that they sent it to the wrong account, got injured and came with many other excuses. I suggested to send at least some of it, however no money ever showed (after nearly three months). Thus I can truly claim that Hamdi stole my 8500 EGP. Not honest behaviour.

- Stone (8/5): Charming little boat -- a unique lodging alternative on the Nile . . . - Moon Boat was a unique lodging experience along the west side of the Nile across from Luxor. The rooms are very small. Two people would be very cramped. But for myself, it was fine. The bathroom also is tiny. If you shower, everything will be wet. Room 1 at the front is the largest and most comfortable. The two rooms in the back are the noisiest since the water pump is situated back there and comes on every time someone uses the toilet or showers. Otherwise, it's a pleasant place to stay. There are actually two boats side by side. Guests may use the "terraces" of either boat to relax, eat, or visit. The views across the Nile and all the feluccas is lovely. The boat is located about 15 to 20 minute walk south of the public ferry that crosses over to Luxor. It's a walkable distance. The same to the main street where all the shops and restaurants are. There are multiple restaurants facing the boardwalk that cater to tourists with western breakfasts, coffees, etc. along with good meal options. The friendly proprietor went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable, even switching me rooms to one that had a view and was more quiet. He also allowed me to keep my backpack there during the day after check out while I visited the sites, since I had a bus to take that evening. I appreciated his willingness to do that. I stayed three nights and recommend Moon Boat to anyone who wishes to have a more unique lodging experience closer to the river. The only negatives I already mentioned above. What it lacks in spaciousness it makes up in charm . . .
- Gerald (10/5): - Tranquill place with Superb Views
great kitchen
friendly staff perfect for me
- Irene (8/5): Very nice stay - Staff era ottimo, molto gentili e ci hanno sempre aiutato. Pulizia può essere migliorata.
- Mahmut (8/5): Would stay again. - Staff were so kind. Flexible checkin. No Wi-Fi, no hot water, poor breakfast.
- Melanie (8/5): - Great experience to sleep on the Nile, great view of the east side/ luxor temple, good service & food. Comfo little cabin w BIG blanket. Love it! The guy i forgot his name got me a taxi boat for 100 egp to cross over the est side. Nothing
- clara (10/5): Inoubliable !
- Walsh (10/5): - Staff always asking for tips
- Suzanne (7/5): -
- Korkmaz (7/5): -
- Philomène (10/5): - We had three great nights on the boat ! The room was really cozy and the view on the Nile was great. The area was really nice. The owner helped us to find a tuktuk to see all the highlights of the West valley and for us it was the perfect way to explore ! The communication for the breakfast was a bit complicated but we managed in the neighbourhood.
- Nazariy (10/5): -
- THIERRY (6/5): Good value for money - At the beginning of 2026, access to the boat is still difficult because of roadworks, but the experience is interesting — especially having breakfast on the Nile. The 24-hour shuttle to cross to the east bank is only a five-minute walk away.
- MARIA JOSE (10/5): -
- Fabrizio (10/5): Highly recommended! - Everything is perfect, highly recommended!!
- Sanem Yagmur (9/5): - Great location, friendly and helpful staff! The water pressure was low but it is understandable.
- Léna (9/5): -
- Annette (10/5): Floating Paradise with awesome Nile View - The stay was a great experience. Hamdy and Adam do everything to make the guests feel comfortable: super communication, warmhearted welcoming, a cozy room with a private bathroom, delicious breakfast, homemade lunch and dinner on request. On the intermediate deck there is a bar with a lounge, on the upper deck there is a restaurant with a seating area, hammocks and a great view of the Nile, the Luxor Temple and the Winter Palace especially for sunrise. Highlight is the campfire in the evening on the small Nil sandy beach. Hamdy shares his knowledge of the Ancient Times with enthusiasm. I had a great time. Thank you for the awesome days. Hope to see you again, my friends! everything was super!!!
- Artemis (4/5): horrible location - . I cannot comment on a lot of things. Luxor is very unsafe, and this hotel is on the river but outside the tourist area. We went, saw the location, left without even going in. definitely unsafe location, it is surrounded by locals who also came up to us as soon as I exited teh taxi. I got back in the taxi and left.

- Baraka69 (10/5): A great place to stay on the West bank of Luxor - My daughter and I had a lovely stay on the boat. We shared a twin room with a private bathroom, which was clean, comfortable, and quiet, I slept very well. The staff were very helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was a traditional Egyptian breakfast and perfectly adequate. We only had dinner on board once as we were out sightseeing most days, but it was delicious, served in very generous portions, and very reasonably priced. Dinner on the sun deck had beautiful views of the Nile, especially at night. The location is good, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby, and it was easy to reach the temples by tuk-tuk or taxi. Highly recommended 👌 Everything was great 👍
- Roberta (6/5): -
- Mahé-Julie (9/5): - Gentillesse du personnel, emplacement...
- Marina (5/5): - Only the feeling that you are on a boat on nile Almost abandoned place .decided to eat there for lunch but it didn't turn out very well after ...
- Jerome (7/5): - Typical place
Original place to sleep No waterflow for the shower
Reception time not really organised
- Jade Francis (10/5): - Great place to stay. Specially its located in west bank of luxor.
- Jade Francis (10/5): - Its a great place to stay in the Nile and its a located in West bank. So peaceful. None
- Lars (10/5): - Fantastischer Gastgeber , sehr hilfreich .
- Satu (10/5): Perfect. Cant say more than we loved all time in Luxor😳 - The owner and all the employees were helpful and friendly in everything. The rooms were cozy and the shower worked and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast and food when ordered were also delicious. The quiet location on the Nile and it was easy to get to the other side of the Nile by ferry or boat. We fell in love with this accommodation. All clean and really cute❤️
- Jan (10/5): Nice nile sleeping experience - Very nice and friendly host. We had nice conversations.
He is very helpful in every way. /
- Jan (10/5): - Nice hoast /

- Kerstin (9/5): - Moon Boat is a perfect place in Luxor to relax and get away from the crowds. The owner and his friends are amazing and extremely helpful!
Cabin is so cozy. We did sleep so good! Room was clean.
The neighbour family restaurant (Little Nile Beach) is very tasty.
We did enjoy a lot our stay and can absolutely recommend Moon Boat! Water pressure of the shower was a little bit low and it was hard to find a good temperature. But the peaceful surrounding compensates this small critic :)
- Nagy (10/5): -
- Oscar Eduardo (10/5): - My experience at Moon Boat was truly wonderful.
The owner is extremely kind, welcoming, and always willing to help, the place has all the necessary services, the beds and facilities are very comfortable, and the breakfast is quite good, the attention to guests is excellent, and the location is perfect to explore Luxor. Highly recommended!
- Lyna (4/5): -
- Ertuğ (5/5): Passable - Kind staff The boat was moved and could not find the location on the maps. Thanks to boat crossing river talked on the phone and found its exact location. There is no WiFi, one staff shared his own hotspot
- Lara (9/5): Beautiful and atmospheric Nile boat cabin - This place was our quiet and safe home place in Luxor with beautiful view on the Nile and a perfect boat deck area for relaxing and breakfast. Hamdy and his crew are very friendly and open-minded people, not like so many others who are trying to trick you for money. We always felt safe and welcome there and had help with everything we asked for.
The breakfast and dinner was delicious and in beautiful setting.
The room was very good price, so we didn't mind that it was quite small, and you have to be okay with no air conditioner (but we had fan and could leave the windows open at night with mosquito net). Most of the time we spend relaxing in the beautiful deck anyway.
Hamdy also organized a guided tour to valley of the kings and other stops with a very friendly and good informed guide!
All in all we had absolutely great stay in this little boat and can recommend to everyone who is looking for a friendly and welcoming service in a nice atmospheric place on the water for best prices. Thank you again for everything! As mentioned above there is no air conditioner. The bathroom gets a little wet when you shower.
- Miguel (10/5): Super, recommended - I liked everything, the fact to sleep in a boat over the nile river, so fresh, more than enough. The willingness of the hospitality guys. The food was really stunning, egipcianfood and for a good price.
The bath is small as the picture shows but it is more than enough. All more than perfect.
Perfectisimo!
Alles sind Prima
- Elsa (8/5): Very good - The owner and staff are very friendly. The room was old but very clean. After an hour on the boat I felt sick. Sea sick like vertigo. I had to cancel my stay because of this. The owner was so kind and offered me a free lunch or take away to compensate. I would definitely have stayed if I didn't sick The road there is very sandy and to get onto the boat was thick sand. Wear proper shoes
- Joshua (10/5): Amazing place - One of my favourite places I’ve stayed in all of Egypt, very friendly and helpful staff and nothing like relaxing on the boat right on the Nile
- Tatiana (4/5): Disappointing - It is nicely located - quite easy to travel to all the sightings on the West Bank.
Beds were comfy It was quite dirty. A lot of hair in the drainage in the shower when I arrived.
Also felt like the owner constantly tried to milk me for money and sell me various tours and stuff in a very aggressive manner.
They say they have bicycles there but it is not true. They just take you to the bike shop next to the public ferry and take commission for it.
- Juan (10/5): Great place, originally set on the Nile river, friendly staff. - Location on the West Bank, prize, information and activities arrangements by Handy Everything was alright
- Darst. (10/5): Exceptional - Welcome on the board! The friendly captain and the helpful crew are expecting you on the Moon Boat. If you have ever wished to sleep in a boat on the Nile, your dreams will come true.
My wife and me have enjoyed our stay in the boat, listening to the sounds of one the biggest rivers of the world. We have relaxed on the deck and explored the wonderful ancient sites of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings.
If you have any questions or troubles of modern travellers you can ask the captain or the crew. They can also arrange you some trips, for example to the archeological places or a trip with a Feluka or a motorboat.
The hosts were very kind and helpful and we always felt that we can rely on them. It was a great vacation on the Moon Boat. Thank you, S & D
- Josefina (9/5): Perfect value for price - Perfect value for price relation. The place is comfortable enough for a couple of nights in Luxor (bear in mind that it’s a boat). Nice toilet with good shower. Very good breakfast. The best of all is the host, who’s incredibly helpful and kind. Would return without a doubt! The rooms and beds are quite small, as it’s a boat. So just take that into account.
- Ilios (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect ! The hosts were extremely nice (Hamdi and Adam) the cook was amazing (Youssef) and in a hot country like Egypt, sleeping on a boat is so nice because it stays fresh because of the water !
I recommand absolutely !
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - Host is super and very hospitable. 10/10 would stay again.
- Ibrahim (9/5): Well worth the money. - I had a wonderful time at the Moon Boat Hotel. The staff were very kind and incredibly helpful. On one night I was struggling to sleep due to the sound of the motor in room 5 so they kindly relocated me to another room and then to an even nicer one. The breakfast was very authentic and the location is calm, once you find it!
- Maria (9/5): Superb - The staff was friendly and helpful. Calm location with various restaurants around. Food was good at the boat too, but a bit overpriced for Egypt in our opinion. All-in all a very pleasant stay.
- Lars (10/5): Very special place! Super cute boat on the Nile, lovely staff and beautiful surroundings - Absolutely loved our stay here! The hotel is truly unique—set on two beautiful boats right on the Nile, which makes for a magical atmosphere. We had the chance to sleep on both boats and found the rooms cozy and charming in each.
The location is perfect. Stunning views and directly next to the promenade with restaurants and cafés.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. Any minor issues we had were quickly resolved.
One of our favorite spots was the hangout area on the deck of one of the boats: beautiful space with tables, floor cushions, sun loungers, and plenty of shade to relax. The other boat houses the restaurant.
The hotel can arrange for an affordable ferry boat to pick you up directly from the moon boat, which made accessing the west bank super easy and easy. Since the rooms are on boats, they aren't super spacious—but the overall experience more than makes up for it
- Mad (9/5): Superb - Very quiet, axcelent shower
- Erica (10/5): Tranquil escape from Luxor’s madness - Such a cool experience to stay on a boat! The room was very comfortable and surprisingly spacious for it being a boat. The rooftop deck was the best feature. So nice to sit and watch the Nile go by. I cannot emphasise how nice it was to have a quiet and restful outdoor area after the mayhem and push of Luxor. Nice breakfast cooked by the wonderful Adam, who was also very kind! The garbage boat was parked alongside moon boat. I’d didn’t smell or anything, but the shame is that we felt like we had to keep our curtains shut because there were guys walking back and forth along the edge of our boat (where the window was) to access the neighbouring boat. I don’t think this would impact any other room than the double we stayed in at the bow. We still really enjoyed our stay and would stay again!
- Fer (10/5): Exceptional - Im so happy with this réservation i fell so confortable and the staff was very helpful and kind thank you so much
- Aiman (10/5): Exceptional - the staff very friendly and kind
- Jade (10/5): Amazing experience not to be missed. - Everything, it was lovely. The chance to stay on the Nike in a charming little boat. Hamdy and his team of staff cannot do enough for you. The food is delicious and plentiful all cooked fresh to order. Hamdy even took us out on a tour to see the sights of Luxor and gave us so much information we wouldn’t have got if not for him all about the local community and his heritage.
We plan on returning with our grown up children so they can have this experience too.
If you are going to Luxor I would definitely recommend if you don’t stay then you can visit the boat and have dinner on the Nile. Nothing
- Patrick (9/5): A nice boat to stay on and see Luxor - The accommodation is actually a boat , and it is a great experience to stay on it. Sometimes, due to Nile river levels, it moves out about 20 metres and is accessed by row boat. When levels are high, there is a gantry. I felt it was great and part of the experience. The staff was very helpful and when you wanted to go to the east bank , they got you collected from the boat. All through my stay, the staff were attentive and helped me with my tours , and booked them for me. The very nice meals can be eaten on the covered top deck restaurant and gave a great perspective on the East Bank across the Nile. Great way to start the day. Everything was fine and it is definitely good value for the money
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agata (8/5): Sleeping on the Nile - Very unique place. Rooms even though small (after all it is a boat) were comfortable, and you get to sleep on the Nile. Form the top of the balcony you have an amazing view over East Bank. Moreover staff was helpful with anything that was necessary like trips and accomodation. Big shout out to Adam to always being there when needed. There was not really a wifi, and power sometimes got cough of for short times.
- John (9/5): Stunning river location - Stunning location on the river looking across to Luxor Temple. Comfortable and relaxing place to hang out for the day or just use as a base. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Decent Egyptian style breakfast included. All good.
- Stephen (9/5): Great experience onboard. - I stayed on the Moon Boat.for a few nights in January. It was a very unique hotel experience. The boat(s) sit in the water around twenty meters off the shore of the West bank of the Nile. Coming and going requires boarding a wooden dingy, which is then manuevered to and from the boat by one of the crew members at anytime you need it day or night. For me, this aspect of coming and going gave the stay an authentic feel of living on a boat, although some may regard this as an inconveinence since you have to alert the staff everytime you want to come and go. I also liked the feel of being in the bed when the boat would sometimes rock in the wake of passing boats. I spent time in a room on the bow and starboard side of the boat closest to the shore. The rooms are what you might imagine a room on a relatively smallish boat would be like, very small but adequate, unless you are of above average in height or you are a fat slob, if so you may find your quarters a bit cramped, especially the head. I liked being able to spend time on the decks of the other boats moored beside the boat my sleeping quarters were on where there is an unobstructed view of the river and the East bank. There you also have a clear view of a wide variety of boats motoring by. The crew was always very accomodating and friendly. The crew members would usually offer you a (free) cup of tea or coffee any time they noticed you up on the deck. The boats also serve as a restaurant open to the public. I ate dinner (not free) on board once and the meal tasted good. I ate breakfast on board almost every morning and it also tasted good. The bottom line here is that I wanted to get as close as a tourist could get to having the authentic experience of sleeping on a floating boat for several nights on the Nile River instead of just an.overpriced hotel surrounded by the river while at the same time not having to buy the boat in the process. The most annoying part of this stay and why I will probably.never stay stay here or even along the shores of the Nile River again In Luzor is what happens to every non-Egyptian citizen while on shore. Although this is out of the contol of the Moon Boat crew, it needs to be mentioned. You will be constantly harrassed by hustlers urging you to get into their boats for an overpriced ride across the Nile River every moment you are near the shore line. They are liars using every tactic they can, short throwing a rope around you and dragging you on board. Moon boat is no more than a ten minute walk from the public ferry., which is a ten minute ride and only costs 20 EGP one way. For me, this was the best way to cross the Nile River. For me the extreme urging of these desperate hustlers completely ruins the ora that the onshore experience at the Nile River should have.
- Carmen (10/5): Exceptional - Enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the Nile, the lifeline of Egypt, on the wonderful houseboat "Moon Boat" owned by Hamdy.
A very special kind of stay! I have traveled to many countries, but the days on the Moon Boat were really extraordinary and are definitely worth a trip!
Directly in Luxor on the west bank of the Nile with a very good restaurant on board.
The rooms are cozy and clean, there is a family atmosphere on the small hotel boat with just a few rooms and you immediately feel at home.
Adventurous access in the winter months as the level of the Nile is very low and you have to take a small shuttle boat across. But the precautionary measures taken by the entire crew are great. They even bring disabled people safely on board.
Luxor has so much to offer, even besides the breathtaking historical sites.
Life on the river, the incredibly friendly people, the hustle and bustle between antiquity and modernity. I love it!
Hamdy and his family are always there to help and advise and help you make every wish come true. He organizes all the trips you want to take during your stay in Luxor, such as visits to the historical sites, trips into the desert (also a real experience with the traditional donkey cart), shuttle service, and last but not least, breathtaking trips in the felucca, the traditional Nile sailing ship with his brother Abdo Nomoer. The sailing trip towards the magnificent sunset over the banks of the Nile will remain in your memory forever.
After a strenuous day of visiting the temples and the Valley of the Queens and Kings, this is the ideal end. Adam, the kitchen chef of the Moon Boat, is a master of Egyptian cuisine, it was the best meal I have ever eaten. Enjoying this on the felucca during the sailing trip and then ending the day with a shisha gives you the feeling of absolute relaxation. That's what vacation should be like!
Exceptional accomodation. An extraordinary experiense. Here you will meet globetrotters from all over the world.

- Ignacio (8/5): Very good - Located on the west bank, it is very convenient for visiting all the popular tombs and temples. And it is very cheap and quick to get across the east bank to visit the rest of the city.
The owner will gladly organize every tour, temple or attraction that you'd like to visit, something very important if you don't have much time or don't have extensive knowledge about this part of Egypt.
The rooms were cozy and clean. WiFi wasn't working, not sure if this was something temporal or permanent.
It can get a bit noisy from the restaurant above the rooms and the noises coming from the city.
