Guest Reviews
- Melanie (5/5): - Beautiful view of the ocean from the deck, beautiful outdoor areas, very modern room and bathroom, great location for exploring, short Uber rides/drives to places.
A great place to share both rooms with friends or family.
Was a little Sanctuary feel outside in bbq area. We had tea/coffee facilities but did not receive any milk to go with it.
No water received, A small bottle of water each would have been nice to have on offer each for each day. I feel these are necessities.
The air-conditioning did not work and the room was quite stuffy ,a pedestal fan does not make up for it.
Very close to neighbours, didn't feel like much privacy.
We could not see any wood to have a fire.
Departure information could possibly be sent the night before as we departed prior to it coming through.

- Khyathi (9/5): Lovely stay! - Bathtub was great!
- Willie (9/5): -
- Leslie Foong Teng (6/5): Not value for money - Clean room and bedding. Good light. Good air-conditioning. Looks new. Room space too small. Shower has no door or curtain, resulting in wet toilet seat. No soap, shower gel in shower. Too expensive for what we got.

- Jahan (1/5): - I booked the Whale Studio Suite at Port Stephens via Booking.com for 16–18 July 2025, but on arrival I was told the room was unavailable due to plumbing issues and was placed in a different room—without my consent. While I understand that unexpected issues can happen and agreed to stay one night in the alternate room, they refused to move me to the correct room the next day, and when I asked to check out early due to the situation, they denied a refund—my concern is not the money itself, but that I did not receive the service I paid for and was treated unfairly.
- Céline (9/5): Fantastic location near a coastal walk, lovely outdoor area and hot tub, comfortable amenities - The location is fantastic - just a two-minute walk from a beautiful coastal trail that leads all the way to Shoal Bay.
The outdoor area is lovely and makes for a perfect spot to relax in the evenings.
The bathroom was nice and the room comfortable but minimalist.
The highlight of the stay was definitely the hot tub, which was a wonderful bonus. There are no cooking facilities (no sink, oven, microwave, or stove).
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - So clean, beautiful spot Our lock on the deck was loose so we had to walk around the front to get to our car everytime
- Shahriar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tammy (8/5): Very good - Communication was good.
Would have preferred a kitchen sink.
Otherwise it was great little spot
- Grahame (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (8/5): Very good - Location was stunning, absolutely beautiful. Was a lovely place to stay for a quick getaway. Love the outside area Unfortunately the walls are paper thin, so I was an unfortunate party to the couple next door’s activities a few times.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Amazing stay , will return. -
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - So close to the beach. Great walks along the coast. I’ve stayed at the property three times now and will go back. Maybe a lounge would help.
- Meiko (9/5): Superb -
- Ashleigh (10/5): EXCEPTIONAL - Absolutely everything. The location, the room, the bed, the hosts. The onsite Salt Air Day Spa was to die for.
- Tracy (9/5): lovely quiet location - the bath was great. the beach walk was lovely.
- Lillian (9/5): Superb -
- Nicole (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful - Every thing about this property was to make you relax and that exactly what this accomodation does and so beautiful and peaceful, and the hosts are lovely people Nothing
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (6/5): Pleasant - Spa,location Small room, no where to put much. Not the comfiest of beds
- Elizabeth (10/5): Perfect holiday - The location, cleanliness, decor & big bath! Nothing
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikki (9/5): Lovely pretty for a short break, would book again - Lovely 1 bedroom plus bath studio.
Bath was lovely and hot water to fill it too. Shower was also great.
Bed was comfortable.
Wish we had known there was a spa on site as had booked massage’s elsewhere.
Very quiet property, some noise from next door and upstairs which is to be expected, it wasn’t an issue to us. Fridge was noisy, which I guess can’t be helped when it’s all in one room.
Bathroom could do with more hooks/rails for towels.
- Andreas (8/5): Very good - Very nice and quiet retreat, exactly what I wanted. The bay was just a short walk away and very nice and clean.
Restaurants and Supermarket reachable within a 10min drive. The address listed on the booking.com page is 1A Ocean Street, Anna Bay (not Fishermans Bay where it actually is). However if you put that into google-maps it directs you to 1A Ocean Avenue, Anna Bay. It is just a 3 minutes drive away but nevertheless confusing.
The correct address should be: 1A Ocean St, Fishermans Bay NSW 2316
- Jeannette (5/5): Passable - No parking looks a lot bigger than what it is
- Kendal (4/5): Disappointing - The jacuzzi was nice but shared. Location was good. When we arrived the pin for the key safe was incorrect so we called the property and the lady was extremely rude. The messages she sent for check in came through a notification at 11pm that night. This is an error in the booking.com site as there was no notification at midday when she actually sent it through and there is no inbox to check for messages.
This property should be on airbnb not booking.com. It was advertised as a studio apartment but is in fact a bedroom on the bottom level of someones house with the owners above you and other guests in the bedroom beside you. The jacuzzi was in fact shared but the photos made it appear it was in your own yard. The walls were paper thin and you could hear the owners eating dinner and walking above you. I will never use booking.com again because of the false advertising of this property.
- Catherine (8/5): Quiet ,peaceful retreat. - Location was fabulous .Outdoor deck very relaxing with views to Fisherman’s Bay.
Washing machine and dryer very handy .
Owner very friendly
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (8/5): Fabulous beautiful and relaxing. - The location , views and swimming was amazing. So relaxing 😊 The room was a little small, a sink at the kitchen would have been great. Privacy was a bit of an issue when people staying at dolphin and whale but all in all terrific
- Nathan (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (9/5): time out was a bonus. - quite , great for adults would stay again. umbrella at outside table /lounge.
- Liliana (8/5): Very good - Location We could heard the step when people walk up stairs.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb - Beautiful spot - small beach right there and perfect fishing either here or at Boat Harbour. Quiet location and cosy studio. Would definitely stay again. Would be nice to have kitchenette facilities for cooking. We were lucky not to have anybody staying in other studio.
- Tina (10/5): Relaxing and serene getaway - The area is beautiful and quiet and so serene. Very magical. Access to the beach is just a stones throw away. Fishermans Bay is very private and calm. There were lots of families and people fishing but it was never too busy. At night the beach made for nice stargazing. The tub was exceptional and having the shower in addition was handy. And of course the spa was such a nice added bonus. Access was very easy and we didn’t interact with anyone else during the time we were there.
You can walk to Anna Bay via Tomaree National Park. We did it in less than 30 minutes, swam in Anna Bay, and had a few meals at Cresti - which arguably had some of the best seafood on our trip. Loved everything! But a few things to consider would be the suites are adjacent to one another with shared entry. No one was staying next door, but I imagine if others had, the space would feel a bit tighter with less privacy.
There were no toiletries provided so my partner and I were having to share all of my stuff 😂. I think with the price point (over $400 a night when we stayed) these items should be included.
You are paying a slight premium - but the tub, spa and beach access made it worth it for us. We had a very relaxing stay.
- Anonymous (10/5): Had the best time nice quiet and peaceful place defiantly be coming back people are so friendly - It was beautiful secluded and close to everything friendly people and comfortable apartment
- Sonia (9/5): Cosy little stay - The position was lovely. Close to the beach. Everything you could ask for.
- Salaria (10/5): Worth the money. - The backyard and the spa There was a VERY strong smell in the spa.
I think more of bleach.
- Glen (8/5): Very good - Modern, clean well equipped. Fantastic allowed us early arrival tp prepare for wedding. Loved that! Beautiful beach close. Looking directly onto road and houses from our room.
- Sally (9/5): good location and accommodation -
- Matilda (8/5): Very good - I liked how peaceful it was and being able to enjoy the place to myself. The only thing is that the spa wasn’t clean when i went in. There were cleaning agents, but I found a few clumps of hair :(
- Elaine (2/5): EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED - The bed was comfortable and the bathroom far larger than needed After 5 emails we still didn't have the key to get into the property - they sent us a key but it didn't work. After 3 telephone calls, we finally got the key to get into the property. The lady said she sent us the key at 2.30 pm - when we had told them we would be there at 2.00pm! We actually got there at 3.30pm only the information was not with us. When we got into the apartment, we looked for the wifi details - only they didn't work. After yet another phone call - we got given a different wifi number altogether! She said that the one in the apartment was wrong - but she had not given us a working one in the first place. The apartment was EXTRA TINY - I would say that the bathroom was just a smidge smaller than the living area! The reason for a double bed is that there was only room for one side table - the other side was the door opening. No shelves for clothing - you had to wash your dishes in the laundry outside of your room - it was the smallest apartment I have ever visited for the price. There is a view -but it is very deceptive - not what you see.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Lovely getaway weekend in a beautiful house. - Bathroom was gorgeous. Location was perfect. Bin
- Marie-luise (8/5): Very good -
- Allen (9/5): Very comfortable - Had trouble with front door lock
- Alison (10/5): I can’t wait to stay here again and will book at least two nights next time. - Location and property are stunning. Hot tub was divine. Lovely outdoor space with a fire, meters from the beach with whales parading past. Nothing.
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Geetha (10/5): really worth it - property is very nice and clean and convenient to everything and the beach is just there if you want go relax nothing much really. the fridge is very noisy that’s about it. Being a studio it makes it harder to sleep
other than that it was all excellent.
- Erika (10/5): The Whale Studio is a quiet and relaxing place, just 24 minutes walk from shops, restaurants and pubs. It is a clean and - It is a nice, quiet and relaxing place to be if you want to escape from the city vibe.
- Alex (10/5): Wanted a quiet place to base ourselves while we explored the region and made the right decision booking here was exactly - Pretty much everything however the location is what initially made us book here and it was perfect for us and what we were wanting to do The internet to stream movies of an evening seemed a bit hit and miss? but.. I’ve seen reviews for other places saying this as well so this seems like an area/region issue? this is honestly all I can come up with as a negative I have not marked the property down for this I’m an Aussie myself and my place is no different to this, it can’t be helped
- Sam (8/5): Very good - Overall great location, price and fab bathroom.
- Patricia (7/5): Good -
- Alex (6/5): stay was ok, but would have been nice to know that this is more of a guest room rather than a unit on its own, - We liked the location, hot tub and bath That the property was a bedroom in someones house which wasn’t clearly stated on the booking we went through. The people who lived in the house were occasionally noisy and we also had to share all the facilities (eg laundry, spa, deck) that wasn’t shown in the ad for this property through booking.com it was stated “as a nice private stay”
- Amir (9/5): Superb -
- Troy (8/5): Very good - very short walking distance to the beach
- Werner (9/5): Relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. - Quiet location. Fisherman's Bay is still not that developed in the Nelson Bay peninsula, which we liked. Still, it isn't far to all the things you need or want to visit. The room is well thought through. There is a veranda with a bar setting to enjoy an uninterrupted view to the beach. It is well protected from the elements, just in case! There is an outdoor setting with lounge to relax. It's 100m over a grassy area to the beach and if you catch some fish, you can cook it on the BBQ right there. Washing machine is also provided and until it's gone through it's cycles, you can relax in the spa! So you get a lot of extras to your room and the ambience is very relaxed . No probs with anything. You want more you pay more!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Macarena (10/5): Perfect place to relax during holidays, nice location, quiet place, thank you so much - Clean and modern
- Heather (6/5): Nice location, zero comfort or privacy. - The Whale Studio Suite is located in a beautiful part of the Port Stephens coastline. The bed was very uncomfortable, the pillows were so flat that I woke up each morning with a stiff, painful neck. There is next to no privacy in regards to noise, I was kept up for hours each night by other guests moving about their rooms. Between the pillows and the noise I barely slept at all.
- Anonymous (7/5): Nice but noisy - Pretty surroundings, room was nice and clean also loved the bath. We didnt like how the walls were paper thin. You could literally hear everything happening upstairs and directly next door. Doesnt make for a good romantic get away.
