• magdeleine (9/5): un séjour très agréable - nous n'avons pas séjourné à Vista Mar mais à Sky Blue qui appartient au même propriétaire mais qui est plus récent.Suite à des travaux dans notre chambre à Vista Mar ,on nous a proposé une chambre à l'hotel Sky Blue .Nous n'avons pas regretté ,bien au contraire .Nous n'étions pas trop loin de la plage.La chambre était très spacieuse et nettoyée tous les jours.Le personnel à l'accueil était charmant,à l'écoute,serviable.Si je dois revenir à Tarrafal,je choisirai cet hotel rien de négatif .petit déjeuner copieux et varié .

• Coffey (1/5): Appalling but at least it makes for a good story - We have to wonder if all the positive reviewers stayed in a different place, because our experience – and that of another couple we spoke to next morning – was so bad. We had booked a top floor room with a terrace for four nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday. On arrival, we were told the room was not available due to renovations, and we were getting a second floor room with a balcony. Why didn’t the hotel tell about us this before? The receptionist just shrugged in a ‘How should I know?’ way. Okay, we could deal with this. Until we got to the room. It was so tiny, the bed took up almost all of it. We had to squeeze through the narrow space between the bed and the wardrobe to get to the balcony. Which wasn’t a balcony. It was like a miniscule room with a small table and two chairs, and windows with dirty panes that slid open to the view of an empty lot filled with rubble. Vista Mar? More like Vista Rubble. Four nights couped up here was far from appealing, or celebratory. I checked with another hotel close by, and by a stroke of luck they had a free room the next day for three nights. So we changed our booking to one night. Okay, we could deal with one night in this place. The bed was a good size but there were no blankets and it looked like someone had walked across them – maybe someone who couldn’t fit through the space between the end of the bed and the wardrobe? There were no blankets provided, but we managed to rustle up a couple from the receptionist, who by this time was glaring at us every time we appeared in her line of sight. The bathroom was – in comparison to the room – surprisingly large and well appointed. Great, except for the fact that the bathroom door was massively warped and wouldn’t close. Well, we could deal with until, once we were in bed, the electricity started going on and off at intervals of five or 10 minutes. The motion sensor light in the bathroom came on automatically every time, shone through the semi open door and woke us up again and again. Finally the electricity stayed off so that we could fall asleep, which was great except that the air-conditioning stopped working and we woke up in a pool of sweat. We opened the windows to get some fresh air. This worked and we were able to fall asleep again, which was great, but not long after we’re awakened by mosquitoes who had come in through the open windows and were now happily chewing on us. The only good part of the experience? Breakfast was on a rooftop terrace with – hooray- vistas of the sea. And the coffee was good. Otherwise, a bad experience that at least makes for a good story.

• Willy (9/5): Tijdens ons 10-daags verblijf op Santiago hadden we twee verblijfplaatsen. Deze in Tarrafal in hotel Vista Mar was het m - We hadden een zeer ruime kamer met aparte zithoek en klein terras. De ligging was prima. Het ontbijt was heerlijk en elke dag een beetje anders. Dit was zeer aangenaam tijdens ons verblijf van 5 nachten. Gemakkelijk parkeren voor het hotel. In Tarrafal waren er feesten, waardoor er savonds redelijk veel geluid was in de buurt, maar daar kan het hotel niets aan doen. Er ontbreekt een douche deur.

• Kiran (3/5): A big disappointment, I booked the place based on reviews on this website, it was nothing like them. - The staff was nice and friendly, location was also good In our room the bathroom and rooms door were broken and dirty. For breakfast they just placed ham and eggs, with no no concern about diet restrictions. I am sure they would change it but then it’s a waste of food. No instructions given like breakfast timing and location, they give WiFi password on a small pice of paper that’s it. Not happy at all and also saw creepy insects in my room during the night.

No Entanto, o atendimento na recepção não foi o melhor, com uma postura quase arrogante da recepcionista. O quarto tinha vários defeitos, com tinta a cair do tecto, faltava uma porta no duche e a resposta da senhora da recepção foi simplesmente " já estava assim e não pode ser arranjado agora". Como tínhamos o maior quarto do hotel, não foi possível termos outro.

Wir hatten 5 Nächte mit Frühstück gebucht, sind aber wegen zeitweise schlechtem Wetter 1 Tag früher abgereist. Dies haben wir erst am Vorabend mitgeteilt. Uns wurde dafür der halbe Zimmerpreis für 1 Nacht erstattet. Fanden wir o.k. Die Duschkabine

Verzorgd ontbijt De receptioniste was onbeleefd en zo teveel betaalde bedrag later terug geven omdat ze geen geld terug had op moment van betalen, echter heeft ze het geld gehouden en ikzelf dacht er te laat aan. Kamer was erg heet, hitte zat in het gebouw en de airco functioneerde slecht. Ontbijt begon pas rond 8:20. Gebouw benodigd onderhoud.
• Moacyr Antonio (7/5): Si vous recherchez du repos, ce n’est pas le meilleur hôtel - La proximité de la plage et des restaurants Le petit déjeuner, top, très copieux, rien à dire Parti, front de mer l hôtel n’est pas en travaux donc toutes les chambres vue mer, sauf que au rez-de-chaussée, grande terrasse avec restaurant donc du bruit le soir, premier étage nos chambres, nous étions dans la chambre Laly avec grosse fuite de la climatisation, la porte de la salle de bain qui ne se ferme pas car le bois a totalement gonflé… Pour un hôtel à presque 80 € la nuit, pas de bouteille d’eau offerte, mini bar vide, frigo vide . Sans compter le matin à partir de 7h50 ou les employés arrivent le bruit au-dessus de votre tête, car bien entendu la terrasse pour le petit déjeuner se trouve juste au-dessus des chambres .

The facilities were pretty basic we were expecting more for the price. there was a power outage during the first night and we didn’t have AC during the whole night, there were regular power outages afterwards, thankfully not as long. When we arrived at the hotel the reception was closed with just a note telling us to go to the restaurant. At the restaurant they told us the hotel was closed and that we had to go to another one. After a while somebody finally came to check us in.

When I asked for a table (which actually i would expect in that price category) a table was braught to my room. I found the reception unfriendly. They certainly didn't go out of the way to make the service pleasant. Didn't have change and promised to give it later, but did that only when i prompted the day before leaving. The balcony was dirty - had to ask specificaly to have it cleaned. (and as result the room was not cleaned the next day...) The light in the bathroom goes on by sensor and you can't control it. Stays on at night longer than you actually would want. The safe is not grounded - anyone could take it home... And last point of improvement : Taraffal being a bathing place, a contraption for hanging wet items would be on its place, all the more as there is a balcony where a drying rake of rope could be fixed.

They really helped us arranging taxi at a very good price from Prahia as well as for local attractions! Highly recommended!

• Solange (5/5): Disappointment - I liked the location of the hotel. The room was ok and clean. The terrace has also a great view. I didn't like the noise in the corridor, the time it took to fix the dripping air conditioning (which made the bedroom floor wet ) and, above all, the unavailability of the staff at the reception during the night, as well as the absence of a way of communicate with them in case of need.

The staff were very friendly, cordial and accommodating. The bathroom shower door was missing but we were able to get along. Maybe even better that it wasn’t there as it may have felt a little cramped.

• Gabriella (6/5): One of the nicer hotels in Tarrafal. - Perfect location next to the beach and downtown Tarrafal. Unfortunately this was not our best experience. There was an initial mixed up in our reservation/availability which caused a lot of last minute stress. Then it lead to us having a lower quality room than expect with few of a construction site and a parking lot. Our keys did not work for our safe or the front door of the hotel and one night we were almost locked out. The cleaning service also forgot to clean our rooms one day so we had no fresh towels after the beach. Breakfast was also not fulfilling.
• Imola (6/5): Right on the beach, but a bit overpriced for what you get - The location is great, the breakfast terrace is nice. Overall it was okay, but there is definitely room for improvement, especially for this price. The breakfast was nice. They serve a little too much bread for my taste though, but it is abundant and filling. The fruits are a nice touch. More vegetarian options would be better, but you need to watch and ask specifically in Cabo Verde anyway, if you have a special diet. I can really recommend the restaurant "below", where you have several veg options and the staff is super nice 🙂. The shower is elevated, so if you don't watch closely, it floods the rest of the bathroom, which is also tiny. The toilet seat is flappy. We put the sign, but housekeeping did not come. We could have used some fresh towels and sheets, as everything gets sandy after a few days on the beach.

• Isa (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was amazing! The restaurant staff was really kind. The room was nice with airconditioning and clean. The beach and beach bar were nearby. We were there on a Sunday, so it was nice to see all the locals having a day off at the beach! It was easy to find transport back to Praia. The front desk staff was a bit annoyed and not really approachable for recommendations. The shower platform had a leakage so the shower would always flood the bathroom.
