- Alda (6/5): Pleasant - The apartment and location are wonderful, but beware of the overly sensitive neighbours. We were asked to keep quiet after 22:00, which seemed fair. However, receiving a noise complaint and a harsh message from Huswell at exactly 22:00 for simply playing cards around the dining table (no party, no drinking, just conversation) felt unreasonable. It’s understandable that neighbours may be weary of short-term rentals, but if you choose to rent out your apartment, it should also be sustainable for vacationing guests. The hosts rely on a company called Huswell for their services. Instead of handling everything through Booking.com, you’re required to log in to a separate platform filled with unnecessary bureaucracy. The website is extremely user-unfriendly, prompting you to pay for various 'extras' you assumed were included in the original booking fee. It’s unclear whether these services are essential, forcing you to constantly contact the company to figure out what’s actually needed. We ended up paying at least 130 euros more in additional costs. Throughout the process, we were left questioning whether the charges were legitimate or if we were being double-billed. I spent (in total) nearly a full workday filling out forms, navigating the confusing website, and repeatedly contacting the agency due to unclear payment issues. For instance, it took four attempts over three weeks just to successfully pay the security deposit. By the time we arrived at the apartment, the entire experience had left me so frustrated that it was difficult to enjoy the stay. After we left the property, we received an email from Huswell offering what felt like a bribe in exchange for a 5-star review. The review request itself was very misleading, focusing only on whether we liked the accommodation (which we did) and how the communication/service was. The numerous employees we interacted with before our stay were always polite, so we gave them a positive review for that. However, this process essentially manipulates you into giving a 5-star review when, in reality, I would rate the overall experience no higher than 2 stars. The quality of the accommodation was not even Huswell's doing. This entire experience was incredibly frustrating. In the future, I’ll be asking who manages the accommodation before booking. If it’s Huswell, I’ll cancel immediately.
