Guest Reviews
- Channing (10/5): It was an extremely comfortable stay & we'd be happy to come back. Thank you Michelle & Doug - We had a fabulous stay at Monument. Natural light filled the house, open plan living, clean & spacious. Super toasty of an evenings with an effective gas fireplace. Perfect location for walks within the resort or head out & explore the Thredbo Valley Track by bike or foot. Or just relax on the balcony with a book.
- Raymond (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay at Monument Chalet. - The chalet was spotlessly clean, bright, and very comfortable. The gas fireplace upstairs was awesome. The downstairs hydronic heating is set at 17 degrees, which was perfect for sleeping, but takes quite a bit of time to get up to temperature. The area is peaceful and beautiful, and the host was very responsive and helpful. No wifi seems unusual, and installing solar step lights on the outdoor steps leading down to the street and up to the parking spot would make navigating them at night safer.

- Helen (10/5): A lovely place to stay in a beautiful area - We had a great stay at Monument Chalet. Lots of natural light upstairs and had everything we needed. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Having 2 bathrooms and an extra toilet upstairs was very helpful. We enjoyed eating our breakfast out on the deck where you can get a bit of a view of the lake. The area is very beautiful and quiet. It was quite cold and we found the heating was very good upstairs. There is a portable heater downstairs to warm up the bedrooms.
The host was super responsive and helpful! The only thing that could have been improved is that it was unusually cold for march and the house was absolutely freezing when we arrived. It could have been good if the heating was turned on for our arrival but this is a minor issue.
- Jenni (9/5): Our stay was most comfortable with every amenity provided. - The property was just as pictured, great location beautiful surroundings as well I can’t say there should be improvements with the property, perhaps there could have been 2 large umbrellas for the rain as borrowing or hiring from the resort was not possible.
- Ronald (9/5): -
- Jean-Christophe (9/5): - Amazing location, very bright, big windows overlooking the mountains and Crackenback pond. Modern, well equipped, close to Jindabyne and Thredbo.
Kids and adults loved the activities available at the resort. Nothing, it was great.
- James Neil (10/5): We really enjoyed this place from the moment we arrived ,We will definitely stay here again - The location,The facilities,15 minutes from Thredbo and 30-40 minutes from perisher,The birds in the morning and scenery of nature
- Simranpreet kaur (10/5): -
- Amanda (7/5): - Location was great aside from a view to the toilet block No wifi
- Chris (10/5): Stay at Lake Crackenback - We recently spent a wonderful time at Lake Crackenback with family and friends and absolutely loved our stay. The place was exceptionally clean, very comfortable, and impressively well-equipped with everything we needed. The location is perfect — close to the lake, walking and hiking tracks, and all the main activities. The views are beautiful and relaxing, and in the evenings we were delighted to see plenty of local wildlife around the property, which made the experience even more special. A fantastic spot for families and friends to unwind and enjoy nature — highly recommended!

- Norman (5/5): Spacious and clean space, needed some help to set the temperature right - Great location, plenty of space, very clean, spacious kitchen, and functional laundry The bedrooms downstairs were too cold during the night. We asked the property manager to change the temperature, but it's not very convenient not to have control over the temperature. There was additional heating (fireplace) upstairs but that didn't help as heat generally goes up.
- Kate (5/5): - The location was perfect for visiting Perisher and Thredbo. Lake Crakenback itself was a lovely area to stay. Other than our temperature issues below the chalet was well set out and suitable for our needs. For the price we paid for a week long stay not having autonomy over your own temperature comfort was a huge disappointment. Over multiple text messages I was able to get Michelle to unlock the upstairs heating as we were freezing. The booklet said it was set to 22 degrees till 10pm of which then it would reduce overnight. However the unit was only set to 17 degrees hence why we were cold. I noticed the downstairs unit was set to 17 also, given that's the sleeping zone I didn't ask her to unlock this as no one likes to be too hot and that seemed reasonable at the time. I also didn't want to inconvenience her any more as she continued to tell me they've never had this as an issue before. I felt she was being quite condescending. However as the days went on we then needed to open the windows downstairs as we were way too hot and unable to adjust the system.
Also we continually set the upstairs living to a reasonable temp of 20 degrees and the only time it reached that was when the gas fire was on. Each morning although the system was set to 20 degrees it was 14 degrees.
On reflection I actually believe the heating system is either faulty or extremely temperamental. Never have I had so many issues with heating! Prior to buying my own chalet at our local mountain we have rented many and never once come across locked temperature control.
Luckily we were not out skiing in wet conditions and our gear was dry, I would hate to have soaked gear and a drying room that only comes on between midnight and four am to dry snow apparel. Again I've never come across this sort of control. I would suggest you pack yourself a blow heater to plug in if visiting when its going to be wet.

- tony (10/5): Fantastic stay - A truly lovely place and perfect for our family ski trip. Great communication and lovely and warm in winter

- Paul (6/5): Functional accomodation in a good location. - Functional property in a good location. Handy with Perisher shuttle bus out the front with ski hire an easy walk away. Master bed was a good size and comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen clean. No Wifi was a pain for teenage kids without a local SIM cards to use. Minimal TV channels to watch, no Netflix. Heating was temperamental, either too cold or too warm with no autonomy to change the temp as all controls locked. Expected this chalet to be a lot nicer after reading other reviews. Decor was tired; chipped plates, couch and extra blankets looked liked they needed a refresh. I wouldn’t rebook at this price point but it would be fine if it was priced lower and budget was tight.

- Sharn (8/5): Have a lovely time. - Location was awesome. Facilities were great however the trampolines were closed and low rope perhaps needs an update, property clean and welcoming. There was no internet connection at the property that we could find. My daughters would have loved to watch a movie.
The big coffee table is very unstable and wonky.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - No wifi
- Jacqui (10/5): Perfect for a family wedding. - Great location. Close to EV charging stations and centrally located to walk to many of the activities. In down time we even managed to do a family puzzle with views over the water. What more could we have asked for!
- Beth (9/5): Great chalet in a great location. Will definitely be back! - The accomodation is in a perfect location. Was neat and tidy and obviously well cared for. Had everything you needed for cooking so all we needed to bring was the food. Had full access to the resorts amenities, which was great after a day of hiking. Beautiful nature walks around the resort where you can see some native wildlife. The bathroom door in the main bedroom didn’t fully close which made using that bathroom difficult.
- Georgina (8/5): Very good -
- Caitlin (9/5): Superb - beautiful location and quality build. comfortable and spacious
- Antoinette (9/5): Very good - Quality of the room Not all info was provided like where we park the car, the house was hard to find
- Clarinda (9/5): Superb -
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Stewart (10/5): Lovely property, great location. -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Le (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Great holiday accommodation & perfect for a trip to Perisher. - Great heating including a heated drying room, very comfortable beds & a tv in each bedroom, 2 bathrooms + a 3rd loo very handy for a group of 5. There's plenty of room in the living area + a good selection of books & games. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need.
The resort facilities were great for the kids with a heated pool, playground, trampoline & archery. We had takeaway food from The Lader which was very nice with generous servings.
2 minutes from the Ski Tube car park made this a perfect choice in ski season. There is absolutely nothing to dislike.
- Angela (10/5): Excellent accommodation, facilities and location -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
