Guest Reviews
- Rahul (9/5): Great cottage stay with exactly what I needed in an accommodation and a sweet host to help me out! - It was a small and cosy place for two! Very near to Sovereign Hill which makes it easy to travel. Jess ( Host) was amazing.
Was given clear instruction. A mat in the bathroom would have helped for a cold night.
- Matt (5/5): The property has potential to be one of the better value for money accommodations. The garden and bed was very disappoin - Location and layout, heating . Bathroom was clean. The garden was overgrown, it was raining and entering the property was like walking through a dense rainforest. The beds mattress was hard and the bed was bent and broken, very uncomfortable. The curtain were dirty and some cobwebs in the bathroom. Very limited cooking facilities. Only offered micro appliances.
- Kelly Duhig (4/5): Unsatisfactory due to cleanliness. Best part was driving away. - I wouldn't stay or recommend staying there. The only clothes cabinet had cleaning equipment shoved in there (broom etc). Absolutely nowhere to hang clothes. There is no real love in the place. The tv is tiny and there is nowhere to sit to watch in any event. Returning at night is quite dark and overgrown. Needs a spruce up. As they say potential potential. But as is a renovators delight.

- petroulias (7/5): Overall very good, good location and setup, however the issue with the heating especially has to be addressed. - Good location, quaint decorations, very clean Couldn’t work the heater. Had to resort to a tiny portable heater provided . TV reception poor.
- Mostafa (9/5): Everything you need in one place ,it was nice ,cozy warm and romantic place - Most likely everything the service , location, spa bath ,facilities etc etc Actually that’s Nothing we didn’t like
- Shay (10/5): Loved our stay - The property was beautiful. Everything you need and want for a stay, the gas fire warmed up the room up fast!
Close to town, the host was very helpful and responded to messages within minutes. Little bit over grown driveway, if not careful you can scratch your car. But There is parking on the street as it’s a no through road.
Had no issues though
But overall we loved our stay. And will definitely book again
- Alf (10/5): - Gorgeous little cottage. Easy access, communicatve hosts.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice, cozy little cottage, perfect for a night or two away More towels would have been nice, unless I missed where they were stored
- Stephens (4/5): Disappointing -
- Anirudh (8/5): Self sufficient granny flat - The cottage was a granny flat. Small but had all minimum necessities. There is no stovetop, but microwave was enough for me. There were a lot of items silently tucked away, like books, games, even a mini rice cooker. Unfortunately I did not notice until the checkout morning as I was quite busy. Floor squeaks when walking due the age of the property. I had to come home late on both nights and I did feel uncomfortable as it was pitch dark, the driveway had zero light. The 'car port' entry was too narrow. I cannot see how bigger cars can enter or park there. Street parking best suited if bigger cars. Gardens needs a trim.
- Sarah (6/5): Ok, however wouldn’t book again. - Quaint cottage feel. Clean, bed soft but comfortable We arrived in the evening and couldn’t access the property. After texts and phone calls we discovered we had been provided with the incorrect code for the key safe. It took more than 1/2 hours to gain access.
Property is nice inside, but scruffy outlook.
Basic kitchen facilities- instant coffee only and no coffee maker to make our own.
I would have preferred to simply book through booking.com without the additional texts, offers, and instructions from platinumstays.
- Rosalind (7/5): Comfortable stay - The heating was good. The gardens were messy and overgrown. Not welcoming.
- Heidi (9/5): Superb - An amazing experience to stay in this historic building. Fabulous central location. Kitchenette met her needs but just realise that the cooking facilities are: microwave, sandwich maker, rice cooker and XXXSmall electric skillet.
- Leonie (7/5): I liked the location and the style of the cottage. If the above points were rectified it's great - Breakfast may have been okay, but as we didn't know the area some information as to how to get milk and bread for our stay would have been beneficial. The hot water was just lukewarm, which didn't make for a nice shower or spa. The spa was also uncomfortable with the bath not having a flat surface. I'm not sure why there was a raised section in the spa as it made it very difficult to have a complete soak. Also it was hard to get in and out of the spa because of the shape.
- Maria (5/5): Overpriced dusty cottage that did not match the reviews. - It was very sweet and had some lovely furnishings. Customer service were lovely but seemed to not be able to help much. They offer an extra night at reduced cost due to a new day of availability. It was not well maintained. Very dusty and dirty behind the bed head with cobwebs not only under the bed (wooden floor boards too) but visible dust on all the window furnishings. I messaged the property manager for a vacuum cleaner as there was so much dirt behind the bed but they don’t own one!!!!
The bed was so hard and we booked for 3 nights so I dreaded having to go to bed - my neck and back were out. On the third night I put a blanket on the mattress to take the hardness out which helped somewhat.
A reviewer some months ago commented on the overgrown driveway leading up to the door and it certainly has not been gardened in some time. I couldn’t park in the driveway at night because the branches and plants dis not allow room to open the car door. I ended up parking on the street. There are two lovely little chairs outside the door that are designed to enjoy the garden view but they are dirty with webs everywhere and the plants have taken over. It would have been a lovely stay but we didn’t enjoy the facilities because they were not clean and neglected. Rather disappointing as this was meant to be a lovely break after a really tough year for me and my daughter, and opted for this cottage based on the reviews. I wouldn’t in all honesty, stay here again unless changes were made.
- Corenia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simone (10/5): Fantastic comfortable cottage - Thank you. We enjoyed our wedding night and the fee days spent at your cottage. Such a beautiful little place. Nothing
- Karen (8/5): Enjoyable stay, feel maybe little over priced as needs a little TLC. - The accommodation was good, clean & tidy. The driveway & gardens/ yard little over grown hard to walk down.
