Guest Reviews
- Alanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Танюша (1/5): I have to share my horrible experience of staying at this botel. The great location and good atmosphere ended as soon as -
- Megan (10/5): Brilliant Boat! - It was different, it was nice to stay somewhere new and fun!
The boat was really well laid out and had everything we needed.
The staff were lovely and very helpful and the rooms were really clean and comfortable. About 15 mins walk from the red light.
- Julie (4/5): Nice but a bit disappointing. - The location was a 15 minute walk from the central station.
Staff were friendly after a while. Unfortunately they were having problems with the drains while we were there so our room was very smelly, they did eventually give us a room on the neighbouring boat.
- Ruby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabelle (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible hospitality - extremely accommodating host. There were always snacks and coffee and tea available. Xander was really great and gave us recommendations for activities/dinner. Also, amazing location - very closed to most things.
- Bhoomika (8/5): Very satisfied, We had a wonderful time. Definitely recommend this botel. - In good state and well located.
The host was amazing and always available to respond to our queries and engage in conversations with us. Minor shower leaking but did not disturb our stay
- Pier (9/5): THE Amsterdam Experience - First of all, Emilio is an amazing host and the main reason I have left a piece of my heart there at Oosterdok. Friendly, kind, always prone to conversation and joking, one of a kind.
The boat experience is well-suited to the overall atmosphere you will enjoy in Amsterdam.
The breakfast is beautifully served every day.
Just try this almost-sailing accommodation and you won’t be disappointed. Trust me.
- Esraa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Byrne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (7/5): Good - Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room very small but clean and close to the centre.
- Zoe (10/5): Good stay very welcoming and great location - The property was cosy the host was amazing and made our break even better it was what you would expect for the price but we couldn’t of been happier with the service we received clean and comfortable and welcoming Comfortable bed a little small in the rooms but everything needed the boat was a little tired but all in all the host made up for that in need of a few improvements
- Leon (8/5): Very good -
- Mikael (6/5): ok but won't select the single room - convenient location near gare & center with walking distance. the single person room i ok for a student trip but not for a business trip ( too small )
- Wolfgang (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely LOVED staying in Liza Marleen!! Where would one stay in a botel, if not in Amsterdam?!
The room and bathroom were small, but perfectly clean and cozy (plus a hair dryer). The community room (where breakfast is served, for example) is super nice and warm and cozy as well.
Our host Sara was easy going, super helpful and let us leave our suitcases during our last day, even though it meant that she had to come back to open the doors just for us!
Breakfast was great, a tasty variety that we loved!
For us: a 10/10 experience! We would definitely come back anytime!
Just note: if you're a very tall person (maybe 1,85 m or taller), the beds might be too short for you. For us, they were great, though!
The location is super close to the city center (but not in the (admittedly) crazy center), so at night, it was peaceful and quiet.
We were a mother-daughter-duo (40 and 20 yrs).
- Toni (10/5): Lovely stay - The host was lovely, breakfast was great. Rooms small but just right for our stay thank you Nothing loved it all especially sarah the host
- Leonardo (8/5): Very good -
- Ausra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daria (5/5): It seemed safe but the room was a box - The stuff My room was a single bed and tbh it was just ridiculously small, it should be advertised as a box and it was quite expensive; the windows were covered by the deck so literally zero daylight…
- Nóra (10/5): Exceptional - Helpful hostess, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, good location Nothing
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (6/5): Botel accom - Sara was exceptional, helpful and polite and very efficient. Room is far too small, I am 73 and getting up onto a bunk and down espec in middle of night was dangerous. Poor accom for the money.
Getting a 20kg bag down the steep steps also dang. But Sara managed it down on arrival while I struggled getting it up.
- Fareeda (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly hosts
- Ąžuolas (9/5): Stay on a boat! - Very good location, the Botel is just a stones throw away to the center of the city, reachable on foot. Nicely decorated, marine motives everywhere. Bed was small, but comfortable. Breakfast options were basic, but good, fresh fruit and juices everyday, good coffee. Nice lounge in the main area. Very calm surroundings. The rooms could feel a little "tight" for some guests. I myself (1.8m and 110kg) was pretty uncomfortable going to the bathroom or toilet, the space is very small.
- Beverley (9/5): Comfortable and convenient accommodation. - Great location, friendly helpful staff. Room was a little bit small.
- Peter (8/5): All in all, very good. - Breakfast good. Location excellent. Perfectly adequate.
- Ionel-stelian (9/5): Superb - The ladyhost, Jean, was very kind and helpful, she made the stay very enjoyable. The boat was nice and very well located in the center of Amsterdam. The rooms were very small, but this îs typic to boats.
- Lee (9/5): excellent - access 👍 host 👍 location 👍VFM 👍 n/a
- Tom (8/5): Very good - Nice and communicative staff on a boat with charm
- Paul (10/5): Short walk from just about anywhere. - Perfect service. Friendly and went the extra mile. Difficult to find as the boat name wasn't on the list of boats on that docking platform.
- Nicholas (7/5): Good -
- Altay (7/5): Interesting experience but wouldn’t try again. - Close to central station. And it was an experience to stay in a boatel. The staff was nice. Well since it is a boatel there was no good ventilation to the room. Nothing suffocating but still something to think about. The breakfast was a little disappointing. Most of the food was burnt or not enough for everyone.
- Niamh (7/5): Novelty to stay here and location very handy for central station - Location and novelty factor
Dining and sitting area
Staff on duty Single room tiny and felt unsafe as was an upper bunk
Stairs really steep
Gangplank to boat exposed to water on one side so felt unsafe using it
- Jun (8/5): Very good - I like the hospitality of the host and we had great chat. The room was really clean. Bed was comfy and the heater and shower works fine. The room was slightly smaller than expected. I would have wished I had gotten the room opposite the platform so I could have my window open.
- Mr (8/5): Lovely host and breakfast. Perfect location - Location Size of single room
- Maria (9/5): An amazing experience in Amsterdam - Guillermo was really really nice! The breakfast was delicious, it was in a really good location… We couldn’t ask for more The stairs
- Jos (10/5): Exceptional - We loved this place! Staff was awesome, perfect spot near city centre and train station and our toddler loved dancing around the botel. Breakfast in morning with views of the water and city was a great way to start the day. We can't wait to come back in the future and explore more
- Isadora (8/5): Very good -
- Edward (8/5): Very good -
- Seongju (10/5): Perfect stay - Everything Nothing
- Oscar (8/5): Very good -
- Brendan (8/5): Very good -
- Spud (6/5): You're paying a lot to stay on a boat. Good breakfast. - Breakfast area was nice. Good breakfast. Good location in the harbour. 15-20 min walk from the train station. Room was very small and dark. Other visitors were quite noisy in the morning. No lying in after a late flight.
- Dr.skender (9/5): Superb -
- Ganna (8/5): I would definitely recommend this place! - Location, cleanliness, comfort, friendly staff. Air flowing.
- Xxx (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (9/5): A great stay on a cozy boat in central Amsterdam - I loved the stay on the boat! The host, Guillermo, was so welcoming and accommodating. He made sure I had everything I needed. I loved that you could get small snacks, water, coffee and tea whenever you wanted and thought that was a great touch. The value for money was the best you can find in Amsterdam - private room and bathroom for a great price. The location was also very central. I would highly recommend this place. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the towels were very small but it was ok.
- Natasia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcin (9/5): Superb - A decent location - 10 mins to grand station + cheerful just being boat + Xander being super host!
- Lars (8/5): Great stay, super atmosphere and close to the center - Really nice and cozy environment. Not big rooms, but it was expected as it's on a boat. Nice sitting area were we could sit in the evening and relax, free coffee/the/water. Alex, our host was nice and always around.
You had all you needed in the small rooms including fine toilet and bathroom facilities.
Breakfast was good. The beds are a bit small and a bit too hard. It would have been nice to have the possibility to open a window to let some fresh air in, but the again, as it's on a boat, that often isn't a possibility.
- Denise (9/5): Would sleep here again! - The breakfast was awesome, it was very delicious and the rooms were clean and big enough for 2 :) Our a/c did not work but otherwise everything was fine
- Blaren (7/5): Good -
- Ahmed (8/5): Very good -
- Adilzhan (1/5): -0 - terrible staff, talk negatively, I was charging my laptop in the lobby and the worker complained that I was using the charger in the lobby. did not come to clean the room at all, do not recommend this hotel
- Signal (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was great, the staff were helpful an pleasant to talk too, an with a short walk to town we couldnt of asked for much more
- Ata (10/5): I really enjoyed my stay on this Botel and highly recommend it. - Very friendly and helpful staff, Lucy really exceeded my expectation in hospitality and was a very lovely person to talk to. The breakfast was generous and nice, the room was clean, free coffee and tea and a friendly environment in general where you could talk to other people and socialise. Obviously being a Botel, the room was small (I'd say kind of cabin size) so I felt a bit claustrophobic on the first night but got used to it and was okay on the second and the third night. It's just there's not enough room to manoeuvre which one should be mindful before booking a room on a Botel. Having said that I'd still book it as it was worth the experience.
- Sean (9/5): Excellent food, location, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again - Excellent breakfasts The gang plank to board the boat, it could be a bit wider
- Angela (9/5): Comfortable and cozy - The location of this delightful botel was perfect. The rooms are small but cozy. The AC is a bonus. But the real charm comes in the comfortable lounge and dining room where you can sit and meet other guests.
- Lucas (10/5): Lucie is great! location really close to city center - Lucie was a great host, super welcoming, easy going and always respectful. Her breakfast was very nice, she changed something every day.
location is very convenient 10’ walk from city center.
perfect stay for 3 nights.
- Kian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Souad (9/5): Superb - The bathroom smelled a bit bad cuz it remains closed all the time, there’s no windows so it cannot be ventilated.
- Marta (10/5): A great place to stay - The host was super nice, kind, and helpful! Absolutely amazing! The location is fantastic, just 10 minutes walk from the central station and the city centre. The breakfast is delicious and is a bit different every day. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and cozy. I've been to Amsterdam 6 times and this has been by far my best stay. Thank you, bedankt, and gracias!
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional Host - This was a great spot to stay for our weekend trip to Amsterdam. Lovely quiet spot 15min walk from all the chaos of the Dam. Inma was an exceptional host, so friendly and accommodating. The boat was clean and well maintained, all amenities were great, and the breakfast was lovely. Could not recommend Botel Liza Marleen enough, we had an excellent stay!
- Helen (10/5): We had a lovely time I’d highly recommend - Clean, friendly staff, lovely breakfast, close to train station & city centre.
- Arosemena (8/5): Very good -
- Annabelle (10/5): A remarkable and memorable stay - I met Inma on my arrival and was instantly greeted with warmth and happiness. It was so nice after being away from home for so long and also traveling solo. I was shown to my room and given a run down on the town. The botel was clean, quiet and a bit quirky - I had never stayed on a boat like this, only warships previously so it was very refreshing and comfortable experience! The breakfast spread was incredible, fresh breads and a selection of meats, cheeses, eggs and fruits each morning which set me up well for each day. The location is also very handy and both central and enough away from the main city. I really enjoyed my visit and I hope to join you again in the future for a cycle tour! Also, shoutout to Jen who was the chef/boss lady on the botel next door, loved her friendliness and had a great sense of humour. Thanks very much again!! :) It’s hard to find any faults to comment on.
- Norbert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krystelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pierre (7/5): considering Amsterdam hotels, not too bad - unique, 19 min walk from the center, calm and not too shaky tight rooms, and the organization: i had to wait for almost an hour called multiple times knocked multiple times and ringed the bell multiple times before anyone answered so we could check in. Bathroom water stank when we first walked in the room.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great experience staying on a boat. Hardworking and friendly staff have only made it even better.
Breakfast was good, rooms were clean, location is perfect.. and for the price, it offers great value.
- Diego (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (7/5): A nice stay in Amsterdam - location, breakfast small bed, a little noisy
- Eric (8/5): Very good - Value for money, excellent location Nothing
- Jennifer (1/5): Bad -
- Jason (10/5): A great place to stay and location right where you need to be - I would recommend this property to all as it’s perfect location and Scenery the boat was comfortable warm and staff also great location is a small walk from the action Nothing
- Marwa (4/5): Disappointing - The room is not like what i saw online, is i saw it online the way i get it, i won't booke it. I dont like that the room i saw online its not the one i was given..i saw online bigger room. The room extrenly small, you cant walk or stand even one step, i dont mind the size but i struggled on my 2 nights stay to stay in the room. Also online they dont mention that you cant keep your bags and take them.later, i had to take my bags to the train station locker so to be able to walk around the city and take the later. They dont mention online that the bar is closed... lots of things not mentioned online, but at least give the same room you show a photo for online.
- Martin (7/5): Good -
- Rod (8/5): Great place to stay. Just a reminder that this is a room on a boat. -
- Ludmilla (1/5): Not worth it - The rudeness and mockery of the boat manager eliminated any positive points One of the worst experiences I've had.
The boat is good, the room is comfortable as expected for an accommodation of this type.
However, the treatment I received by the boat manager was unacceptable.
I was very well welcome by the girl in charge of the neighboring boat, who checked me in.
But when approaching the manager by Liza Marleen when I requested to change the room, I was treated rudely and ironically by the guy.
His responses to my request were extremely unpleasant, arrogant, and completely inappropriate for a person in his position.
The next day, I needed to be at the airport at 9am, so I went for breakfast at 8am, the exact time the boat advertises the breakfast's time.
The guy in charge didn't have the buffet ready, and when I started helping myself with what was available he addressed me, in front of other customers, saying "you have to wait, I don't like people helping themselves while I work! "
THIS IS ABSURD!
I've never seen anyone treat a customer this way!
He was late in his activities, and he clearly took the previous day's matter personally.
The guy showed not to have any managerial skills and even less, skills to deal with adversity and treat people.
Unfortunately, it is not a good reference for a city with so many options, and it will never be recommended by me to anyone, as it does not reflect cordiality like most places in Amsterdam.
- Emil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sigvald (7/5): Good - hot water did not always work in shower
- Sebastian (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Friendly efficient staff.very good breakfast. Clean, comfortable and safe place to stay.
- John (9/5): Superb -
