Guest Reviews
- Julie (3/5): This basic hotel was handy and a bit rustic. - it was near the airport Very noisy from motorcycles and airplanes.
- Edward (10/5): - Ive been using this place for years. They remembered me!
- Jyoti (8/5): -
- Sebastian (10/5): -
- Cloé (10/5): - They stayed up late as it was a last minute reservation. They even prepared someone to pick me up at 5am for the airport Nothing
- Isabel (1/5): -
- Pavel (9/5): Krásné - Výborná poloha u APT. 0
- Philipp (7/5): -
- John Mark (7/5): - Kids loved the dogs and the rustic affair was nice. Bedroom lacked basic things like a bedside table and lamp. Smelled like weed for a while. Owner charges a fee on cards which was announced to us in advance.
Instalaciones viejas, poco cuidadas.
Desayuno malo.
Realmente el peor hotel donde he estado nunca.
- Lisa (4/5): No sleep and not particularly comfortable and expensive. - It was 10 minutes from the airport It was noisy, impossible to get any sleep, it’s essentially on a motorway with planes going all the time except between 11pm and 5am. I guess the poor windows that don’t shut properly doesn’t help with noise reduction.
- James (9/5): - Owner service was awesome... The noise- both street and flight path....
- fred (8/5): -

- Carolyn (8/5): Such a wonderful place - The building and grounds were stunningly beautiful. Clean and gorgeous dark wood and unique artwork. It’s like stepping into a friends large house. I think it’s over a hundred years old. The owners met us at the gate & were extremely welcoming & friendly…such a personable experience. There was quite a bit of traffic noise as it sits right by the Main Street. You can also hear the planes ✈️ above as it is only about 5 minutes from the airport.
- Eloise (10/5): Will stay again! - The hotel is located a 5 minute drive from the airport which is super handy. The inside of the hotel is beautiful - really artistic and interesting style. The hosts, Henri and MJ were some of the warmest and friendliest people I met on my trip in CR, they really made the stay. I turned up several hours before checkin and they were there greeting me with coffee and dates, and interesting conversation before I checked into my room early. Worth mentioning that the bed was very comfortable (I have paid more in other places for much less comfort). There is also a lovely outdoor area you can hang out in which is handy if you're waiting for a flight the day you leave!
- Artley (9/5): - I enjoyed my stay at this location. The owner and staff were very friendly, assisted me with anything I needed, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I will be staying here again definetly next time I travel to Costa Rica
- Natasja (5/5): -
- Natasja (4/5): Its close to the airport - but is situated beat s very busy highhat - note: earpluggs! I did not have hot water in the s - Its close to the airport which is Nice and the staff is really nice Its very noizy - I was told there was breakfast but there wasn’t. I was told the restaurant would open the day after but it did not
- Jeffery (7/5): Good -
- Georgia (4/5): Quick stop over near the airport - With a late flight in and an early start the next day - the location was great. Rooms were not soundproofed and the noise of trucks on the street combined with aeroplanes taking off and landing nearby made sleeping difficult (fortunately the hotel provides war buds for blocking the noise 😅)
- Robinson (2/5): Very poor -
- Lorna (4/5): Disappointing - Beds were great and breakfast was good It's really noisy traffic all nite and the airport so did not sleep much
- Wendy (8/5): It was fine. - We needed a hotel close to the airport and this was very good. They ordered a taxi for us in the early morning and all went well. They made coffee for us in the morning, much appreciated.
- Cat (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gerold (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alejandro (4/5): Good price but installations outdated - The location is very close to the airport The first room doesn’t lock the bathroom and I ask to be moved to a room with AC and the room that I get was closer to the road and you can hear all the cars on the street specially the big trucks roaring their engines, the staff left some earplugs on the table but nobody told us, sounds unreal but is true
- Gartman (7/5): A Nice Stay - The room was clean and was in a private area that I could lock. The room had a private shower with warm water. The area outside of my room was pretty with lovely evening lighting. The room was right by the road, so it was very noisy all night long. It made it hard to sleep. The restaurant was not open.
- Calvin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (1/5): If you are deaf, this is the place to stay. Great location, but the noise 24/7 is almost unbearable - Proximity to airport and rental car locations. Owner is a cool fellow worth talking with. Lots of stories.... ridiculously loud. There is no insulation of indoor space to outdoor space. I could as well have slept on the runway or on the heavily traveled road in front of the hotel.
- Brian (8/5): Casa Antigua - safe and super close to the airport. Great place to stay for a night when coming in and out of San jose. very friendly and helpful staff. A+++
- Mr (8/5): Very peaceful. - The cabin, the staff, the area. Couldn't work out the hot water in the shower.
- Pablo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Warren (7/5): nice boutique hotel, extremely noisy, i would insist on cash payment as they might scam you - This is a lovely boutique hotel right next to the main road and airport, so if you want sleep use the ear plugs providedf being charged extra money on my card 2 days after my visit, we arrived at 02:30am and departed at 10:00, we were charged the going rate for rooms but another charged was put through 2 days after we left so be sure to check as you might get ripped off by these people
- Giancarlo (1/5): Manager badly needed - The position close to the airport the real problem of this hotel is the lack of management: the owner is not able to communicate calmly and without aggression with customers. the guy at the reception doesn't speak English and is listless and unhelpful. it was enough to immediately give us the room that we had booked a month ago (deluxe double) and which was available, rather than offering us a dark room without windows.
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darcee (10/5): Very unique establishment - friendly and knowledgable host - So Close to airport - very convenient - I’ve stayed there 3 times. I appreciate the free breakfast every morning. It’s loud- due to street noise - but earplugs are provided.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Austin (10/5): Would stay again for sure, thanks Henri! - Henri the host was the most friendly and accommodating. I even accidentally left my watch behind and he called me to tell me he'd keep it safe until I returned! Morning breakfast was delightful as well. Peaceful place.
- Nick (1/5): Not reccomended. Run down place with bad people and bad vibes. - It wasn’t good. Run down place with bad staff Pretty much everything. Greeted negatively with an angry owner when my flight got in late and had to get there.
- Natasja (10/5): Kindest staff Good beds + THE BEST BREAKFAST buffet in a looong time :) yummie fruits, cakes, almond butter, peanut butt - The staff
The ambiance
The fooood The noice from the street -BUT This I knew since it was close to the airport which I knew could mean ‘Big roads’ - the hotel provide earplugs thou…
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Enrique (10/5): Exceptional -
- Poulter (7/5): Good -
- Buster (9/5): Superb -
- Carlos (1/5): Bad - we stayed ina a room with no conditions to accommodate people
- Marcella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amamda (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and easy to communicate Nothing it was great
- Farrah (1/5): Awful - Nothing The window was broken and staff was rude about everything
- Rachael (6/5): Pleasant - The owner was very friendly and offered help where he could. The breakfast was an amazing selection of fresh fruit, toast and spreads. I enjoyed having the outdoor garden space and pool. The hotel was not only close to the aiport where you heard planes take off over head but worse next to the busiest road of traffic away from the aiport. Not the best place for a peaceful nights sleep.
- Aly (10/5): The host owner Henri is such an amazing loving generous heart that is always willing to go out of his way above and beyo - such a beautiful property very artistic and thoughtful n/a
- Natalie (7/5): Good -
- John (1/5): Bad -
- Delaney (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was wonderful! Fresh fruits with eggs and plenty of other options to fill your belly. The location was the absolute perfect place to stay if you are coming from or going to the airport. We would stay here again! 10/10 recommend. Henri (owner) was lovely and such a storyteller. The dogs and cat also made the stay feel more homey. The pool was lovely in the morning for a bit of relaxation before we had to leave.
- Keegan (8/5): We were only there for 6 hours but the staff was very friendly and helpful - The design and decorations were great The traffic was load and the dogs were also load , ear plugs helped
- Anonymous (10/5): Thank you! - convenient to the airport and staff was incredibly nice! we were a last minute booking and got a room that happened to be in front by the road. There is traffic noise so be sure to have a white noise app on your phone.
- Gibson (10/5): Awesome experience, thanks! - Alejandro and everyone were so accommodating, nice and made a great breakfast. It was far enough off the main road that it was quiet, I mean super quiet. The views of the volcano were stunning in the morning while eating breakfast, and the hot springs were immaculate. I would absolutely love to return to casa antigua if I ever return to La Fortuna.
- Rosa (3/5): poor location with loud traffic all night - Garden, pool, decor, breakfast Ceiling fan would not work unless light was on.
Shower did not work well.
Traffic was extremely loud.
Owner/manager was yelling at taxi driver.
- Anonymous (10/5): kind staff, comfortable stay. Highly recommended (plus precious animals!) - beautiful property, conveniently close to the airport. Very peaceful ambiance and comfortable stay. only con is that it is loud at night, but they do provide earplugs
- Matt (5/5): convenient one night pit stop with loads of character and nice staff - convenient to airport, local flavour and character no windows in rooms, road noise
- Robert (8/5): airport transition stay - good option - very bohemian and a welcome change road noise
