Guest Reviews
- Charm (9/5): Not perfect, but the fantastic location means I’d definitely book again - Staying right inside Buža Gate meant the hotel was literally inside King's Landing (for the Game of Thrones fans out there)! It’s perfectly tucked along the path down to Stradun (the main street in Old Town). It’s the ultimate location—as long as you don't mind steps and aren't lugging giant suitcases. Bonus: the cable car ticket office is right outside, there’s an amazing sushi spot , bakery, etc a few steps away, and you can easily walk to both Pile and Ploče Gates for tour pickups.
It wasn't a five-star hotel with all the amenities and breakfast buffet, but the location for me was an absolute winner! It was super cozy, but I wasn't in most of the time anyways because I was always out early and back late from my tours. No issues with wi-fi during my stay. I stayed in Room 3 and had a few issues during my visit. The TV didn’t have any working channels, so I couldn't watch anything at all. The AC/heater remote was also dead upon arrival; I managed to get it working by fiddling with the batteries, but I'd recommend bringing extra AAAs just in case!
The room itself could really use a chair or some seating option other than the bed. In the bathroom, the hot water tank is quite small and runs out quickly, so you'll want to turn the water off while soaping or shampooing. On the plus side, the bathroom is heated 24/7, and once I got the main climate control working, the overall room temperature stayed comfortably constant.
- Eduarda (4/5): Good location but that's it. - The location was good, everything was nearby. Check in was easy. There was laundry detergent and a clean sponge which was a nice touch. The wifi was okay. We only got one towel for 2 people. The shower water was good and warm - for about 5 minutes. Which isn't a lot of time even for one person to shower, let alone 2. There was no iron like it said on the list of amenities. The room is very small, but I already expected that from the other reviewers, so I'm not too surprised. The host kept asking us for our passport number even though booking gave a warning to not give passport numbers.

- Rosarii (10/5): - The location is fantastic. Easy checkin. Good communication. Lots of extras supplied. Would have liked a chair for sitting on. I was a lone traveller so it was perfect for me. It might be a little small for 2 people.
- Bobbie (9/5): - The location is amazing. The host was wonderful. The bathroom is a good size. The pictures make it appear to be a lot larger space than what it is. Overall it was great though.
- LJ2023 (8/5): - Great location. Less than 5 minutes walk to all sites and facilities e.g. airport transfers, bus stop.
Compact room more suited to solo travellers than couples. Quiet at night and excellent sound proof windows.
Basic catering facilities and utensils but ok for quick meals and snacks.
Location is the main attraction and I would happily return again.
- singh (9/5): Great location and it's good value for money - Excellent location No coffee powder

- Tomasz (6/5): - Blisko do wszystkiego Maly pokój, głośno z ulicy, cena dość drogo
- Ricardo (8/5): -
- Lisa (2/5): Very disappointing end to the trip. The description was not at all clear enough for us to make an informed decision abo - The location was in the center of everything which was nice for walking around in the evening It was very small so hard to move around with 2 people and 2 large suitcases. The noise from the street was unbearable so we did not sleep. Carrying luggage was a huge challenge and there was no one available or offering to be available to assist. Not knowing the area we had specifically looked for a one night stay that included parking. The listing on Airbnb said parking available which was not at all the case. Parking was a taxi ride away outside the city walls. It didn’t make sense for us but we had already paid in full so we had to return the rental car early and rely on taxi services. Overall I was super disappointed and felt that the description in the listing was not at all clear about the parking or the stairs
- Mary (8/5): -
- Ana Maria (8/5): - Great location, clean and comfortable
- Richard (8/5): Ideally located, all the necessary facilities just expect small! - Superb location. Dubrovnik has lots of stairs. Lots! Apartment was ideally located midway. This made going to and from apartment easier, specially carrying luggage! Don’t bring the cat. There is seriously nowhere to swing it!! If you don’t mind campervan sized apartment it’s fine. Once floor space is taken up by two people and suitcases all movement stops.
Can be really noisy if you want to keep windows open (tourists are super loud at midnight!). Double glazed window and air con fix that issue.
- Local perfeito. Muito pequeno. A cozinha não serve pra nada, impossível fazer qualquer coisa. O banheiro bem pequeno também.
- Charlotte (4/5): - Great location and easy to access the unit when you arrive. Kitchenette is nice. Moldy bathroom that is very cramped with misleading photos on listing, gum on clothes that were put in the closet, electricity cuts when you take the key so AC and water heater also goes off (cold showers unless you wait a while), tight stairs with luggage and the bedding is thin (you can see the writing on the mattress).
- Olivia (10/5): - Comfortable beds, great location & value for money!! Would definitely recommend
- Karen (10/5): Perfect location, accommodating hosts, clean, comfortable, sound proof windows for great sleeping - I loved the location and the little kitchenette Nothing
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (1/5): Terrible - Nothing Terrible cleaning. Misleading information. Way smaller that what the measures say. A broken light that wouldn´t switch off. Bed broken. Views to the city is view to a wall. What a nightmare
- Orietta (8/5): The apartment is at the second floor inside the old city old town no lifts but plenty of stairs everywhere anyhow in the - Very compact tiny unit at the second floor inside the old town perfectly located but not reachable by car Double bed instead of 2 single beds
The local parking charge 90 euro per day but there are others much cheaper ( 25 per day) a short uber ride away
- Alastair (4/5): Basic accommodation in the old town of Dubrovnik - Pleased to see that the property was in a good location in the old town. Thank God that the air conditioning worked Wasn’t ready for the many steps to climb to the apartment. No wifi. No instructions for TV. Tiny apartment. Bed not up to standard.
- Curnow (6/5): A tiny room in a great location - Location was excellent and all the things you needed were in the room. It was way too small for 2 people. The only chairs are small beanbags and there’s not much room to move.
- Tracey (10/5): Cute apt in excellent location - Great location in Old Town. Apt basic and very compact but has all you need. Excellent communication with owner. LOTS of steps, but that's the old town! Located mid-way on steep steps and one of the busiest pedestrian routes so quite noisy but windows excellent at blocking out noise.
- Fiona (8/5): Great - Little attic apartment located in Old Town. Comfortable bed, good filter coffee machine. Excellent shower. Helpful on the phone when I couldn’t find the property. Wobbly loo seat
- Justyna (9/5): Superb - Tiny but sufficient apartment in the heart of the old town of Dubrovnik. Ideal for a short city break. We had a wonderful time here. The host responded quickly to all the messages.
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional - Location is really good. Right in the old town and only few minutes of walk from public transport and airport shuttle bus. Apartment is small but well equiped, host was nice and responsive. Window clothesline would be helpful for faster and more convenient drying.
- Luke (8/5): Did the job nicely - Beautiful area, good access to everything. Bumped my head a few times as it's a very small space for someone 6ft or over, but it was perfect to just sleep and shower at the end of the day
- Tina (9/5): Great place to stay - you’ll definitely get your steps in!! - The location was excellent - very central but very quiet. Room had an iron, a hairdryer and a well equipped kitchen area. Would’ve liked better tea/coffee supplies. There was only 3 teabags and a couple of sachets of sugar. Also some extra toilet rolls would have been helpful. We had to find a shop to buy some as the room was not serviced.
- Holly (10/5): Great place to stay when visiting Dubrovnik as it is located inside the city walls - Fabulous location. Beautifully, ingeniously renovated room in an old building. Small but just right for us (retired American couple). Even had stovetop, microwave, fridge, HVAC. Plenty of hot water in shower. Extremely helpful, responsive staff. Nothing. But instructions for tv would be useful.
- Clara (8/5): Very good - Room was very central in Old Town and A/C was working great which was needed. Room was quiet as well even though facing out to a pedestrian street. Room was slightly small for 2 suitcases but that was not a big issue for us.
- Richard (2/5): Very poor -
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Great location just inside Buza gate, easy to find but right inside old town. Modern apartment As should be expected very small
- Eleni (8/5): Very good -
- Filip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ornella (8/5): Would recommend and would definitely stay again, please note is a tiny apartment. - Unbeatable location, excellent. The place is a bit too small but we are glad we stayed there. Close to everything. Walking distance to all attractions (cable car, port, city walls, Main Street, shuttle bus from and to airport). Locations could not be better! The entrance was a bit hard. We did receive the instructions but the code on the door is difficult to get it done. Doesn’t work very well. Once you get they card inside all good.
- Ari (5/5): Passable - Location location location The bathroom arrangement is basically a "wet head" like on a boat. I have serious doubts about the cleanliness and safety of the bathroom.
- Dobrota (5/5): Passable - The location was truly great, very central. The AC worked well. Instead of a TV and a huge mirror, hooks for hanging wet towels from the beach would have been more practical. The instructions about payment were misleading and caused great stress to us. When booking I entered my card details as required to complete the reservation , but I chose "pay at property". In the description of the property it says " Cash is not accepted" and also in my Confirmation it clearly said that "Central Old Town Apartments handles all payments. This property accepts the following forms of payment: American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB, Maestro, Discover, UnionPay credit card." The host then informed me that she does not have facilities for cards at the property and I must pay by cash upon arrival or bank transfer. This was very different from the official information less than a week before the departure. The host asked us to cancel if we could not pay in this way. We asked the host to charge my card via Booking, but she claimed this was not possible. We were not comfortable paying in a different way than stipulated in the Confirmation and spent a great deal of time calling Booking and asking them to charge our card, which they said in this case they could not. They advised that in this case, the "payment at property" should not have been offered at all. Also, we had no idea what kind of documentation was required when paying by cash or bank transfer and Booking.com gives no information about this. We asked for an invoice in advance, but it only arrived on the second day of our stay and we were not sure it was valid because it had no signature. A further difficulty was finding a time to hand over cash.
In addition, the door code did not arrive before our check-in and we had to call the host. This only added more stress.
We do not suspect the host of any intention of wrongdoing or misleading us and eventually we resolved the situation by paying by cash, but all of this confusion caused us enormous anxiety and I really wish we could have avoided it.
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pi-feng (8/5): The location is great. - The location is great, right in the old town, making it very convenient to go anywhere. The facilities are well-equipped. The host allowed us to check in early at 1:00 PM, so we didn't have to stay outside in the sun. Stairs, wifi
- Pi-feng (8/5): Good location - The location is great, right in the old town, making it very convenient to go anywhere. The facilities are well-equipped, with thoughtful provisions like tea bags and coffee powder. However, you have to climb stairs to reach the living area, and since it’s on the top floor, there’s another small flight of stairs to climb once you get there. The space is smaller than expected. For self check-in, you need to use a sensor and dial the door code to open the main door. Since it's different from the usual method, we spent an hour trying without success. We eventually got in because a roommate happened to be entering. They said they had the same issue and also spent a long time trying.
- Jodie (7/5): Good -
- Reanna (4/5): Too expensive for the night we had - They have AC. The water was cold only and then got cut off in the morning without a warning. The host could have warned us about the construction and lack of water supply.
WiFi is slow to nonexistent.
- Yicheng (5/5): Passable -
- Aidan (6/5): Great location, clean - very small - The location is perfect, and the room is clean. It is difficult to be critical, because it seems that there is a large premium that one pays for location - Dubrovnik old town. The hotel was expensive, but seemingly in line with the market. However, one has to say that the room was small, with a lot of positive creativity put into packing “a litre” into a “half-litre” pot. It was like a Hobbit’s home. In terms of more “nitty gritty” comments - which seem very cheap to resolve: the front door electronic key system needs revision (luckily an existing guest let us in when struggling on first arrival); the bedside lights could light a football stadium; the shower curtain makes it difficult to to avoid wetting the rest of the toilet/basin area; and the clothes cupboard is (admittedly creatively) a difficult to access inlet halfway up the wall.
- Marcello (6/5): Pleasant - Very small
With long and very steep stairs to the room number 4. No lamp and socket near to the bed neither a switch for the central light.
The mirror light in the bathroom does not work.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect. Right in the middle of old town. It was easy to find and close to so many restuarants and bars. That said it was up a few flights of stairs (good to get ones steps up)so it was very quiet. The wifi wasn't great and kept dropping out. It was a minor issue for us though.
- Julio (3/5): Poor -
- Spencer (9/5): Superb -
- Janssen (6/5): Perfect location, very small but complete studio - The host suggested a parking garage in the vicinity but it turned out to cost 147 euros for 20 hours!!
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Jasmine (8/5): Best location, but modest facilities - Location was excellent. You will not find a better spot in Dubrovnik. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It is good if you don’t plan to spend much time in the room and prefer to be out exploring the old town. Space was tiny so it was difficult to move with two people and suitcases. Not enough soap, towels or tea bags. Filter coffee machine but no coffee grounds provided. Wifi and tv did not work. Only one key card provided which you needed for power, so if one person wanted to go out and the other stay home, you were left without power or lights.
- Les (8/5): Very good -
- Adrian (8/5): Incredible location - The location could not have been better. Everything in less than a 10 minute walk. The bed was huge and the room had a fridge. The room was quite small and the bathroom couldn’t sit out properly. Also the sheets were itchy and not soft at all.
- Fernanda (7/5): Good - It is well located, at the entrance of the city walls. It has great AC It was a bit noisy and did not have the best air circulation. Also, the wifi does not have great signal.
- Esme (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nuii (9/5): Superb - Location is perfect. Staff is helpful. Wifi is quite weak.
- Joshua (9/5): Superb - Great location right in old town. Clean and AC worked
- Chrystelle (8/5): Super location - Excellent location to explore old Dubrovnik. Pocket size flat, more a bedroom with mini kitchen corner. A little dark, not that much natural light
- Shashank (7/5): Good - Location was central. Room was on the 4th floor and extremely tiny. Parking was very far from the guesthouse.
- Bidisha (8/5): Central location, decent value for money but take note of stairs! - The location itself was central and near everything we needed. The pictures were exactly what we were getting. There were a lot of stairs getting to the room itself, which was on the top floor (which we didn’t know). Given how narrow the stairs were, wish we knew about it given we had heavy luggage. Realise now that most places in Dubrovnik were like that but would have been nice to know before hand especially as we checked in quite late at night and were just 2 girls.
- Paul (9/5): Great location, excellent host, great communication - Location was perfect
- Rodrigo (9/5): Amazing place, quaint yet with full amenities. Unbeatable location. - Location is insurmountable. Stairs, particularly for the last flight, are narrow.
- Lisa (10/5): Good -
- G.avag (7/5): Good - Location is right in the old town. Couple of minutes to all sightseeing. Tiny room, no view, since the apartment is located on the very busy street, it is extremely noisy all day and night round.
- Nerida (8/5): Very good -
- Stefanie (10/5): Really well located! - The apartment is located really well located in the old town. The bed was confortable. The bathroom was spacious. Everything was clean. Not less important, the apartment has AC. There are two Wifi networks available, the one on the second floor was not working properly.
Having a cooking pot would be great.
- Ian (8/5): A few nights in the centre of Dubrovnik Old Town. - Very central location close to the Old Town main square. The room was very small and a bit cramped. The street outside was extremely noisy at night!!
- Matteo (9/5): Superb -
- Renan (9/5): Pleasant stay! - The location of this accommodation is perfect. Moreover, the flat has everything you need to make you feel comfortable and at home. The host forgot to give me towels and also to open the main door, it was a bit tricky! He could have told me before.
- Karin (7/5): Good - The location was great and the room was quaint. The bed was comfortable and shower pressure was very good. The garbage from the previous guest was still there and stinky, wifi was weak, found a hair on the blanket, and the host was slow to respond when the door was tricky to open. Our main complaint was that parking was promised. We learned on our way that this was untrue.
- Kim (9/5): Great location in the Old Town, close to Buza gate, comfortable and modern. - Great location…Buza gate a few steps away…and Cable car outside of this gate. The bed was comfortable and the studio was well equipped for cooking.Perfect stay of 3 nights, inside the old town in a traditional style building. Passing pedestrians outside the window, funny to hear them huffing and puffing up and down the steps! Easy fix as the windows were sound proof.
- Karin (9/5): Superb - Location can't be beat, shower toilet combo. Stone everywhere. Roof tops. Needed a tea pot for steeping and a tea strainer and tea/coffee tray
- Mariia (8/5): Very good - Cozy nice apartment directly inside Dubrovnik. Small kitchen with microwave, cooking plate, coffee machine and fridge. Comfortable and good for a short stay. Could be a little noise from outside, but you would expect nothing else when living inside a tourist city.
- Nathan (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (8/5): Very good - Amazing location and friendly staff
- Mary (9/5): Good value, great hostess in Old Town Dubrovnik. - proximity to the major sites. and the old town atmosphere As an older woman I found lugging my suitcase up the steep stairs difficult. I could handle the numerous stairs because I am I good shape, but others need to be aware of the difficulties walking around Dubrovnik’s old town streets.
- Tony (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicole (7/5): Good - The location is amazing, spend all your time in the old city Lots of steps on our street to reach hotel no lifts, lots more narrow steps in the building, no lifts
- Darren (8/5): Very good - Host was excellent
- Laura (7/5): Good -
- Stefanie (8/5): Humble little room in the heart of Dubrovnik - For a little room it was well equipped and quite modern. it made for a comfortable stay and location was ideal. the only thing being a solo traveler was the amount of stairs which made it quite difficult, but I also understand this is part of Dubrovnik’s charm. so just expect a good workout.
- Ruby (10/5): will be back! - great location! really comfortable room, small but cozy room and easy check in :) Anela was super helpful and very accommodating, would love to come back little bit expensive but well worth the price for stunning location :)
