• Commandeur (10/5): - I was stuck in the rain at the wrong address 200 metres down the road, due to the taxi. The host walked through the rain with an umbrella to come and pick me up. Now that is what I call quality service. 🙏 It was an overnight stay. Way too short. 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately we didn't stay long but the hosts Jenny and Dan (also Paddington) couldn't do enough for us including getting the hard to get Carlton Draught and then driving us into town (even though we were happy to walk). Had we been able to stay longer we would have made full use of the amenities. Nothing!

• Rob (10/5): - We only stayed one night. If we ever come back to Cairns, we will stay much longer. Jennifer is a fantastic host. She and Danny have a very cozy house. My wife and I felt immediately at home. It is a comfortable 25 minute walk to the Esplanade.

• Kirstin (10/5): Wonderful stay in Cairns - This apartment in Cairns exceeded our expectations over 3 nights. Plenty of space and a clean well appointed 1 bedroom apartment with a separate living space and kitchen. Easy entry and within walking distance to city center/marina. The AC and WIFI worked well. Full size fridge and kitchen had everything one needs to cook decent meals. Lots of extras provided by the host: tea, coffee, water, milk and snacks. It was very quiet and we enjoyed our stay. Good value. Easy parking. Host was very pleasant. Bed was comfortable and lots of pillows/blankets available for the futon couch in the living space. n/a

The kitchen had everything we needed, and the host checked in to make sure we had what we needed without being intrusive. Really comfortable, clean, and such a warm experience. • Stephen (8/5): Great Value And Well Equipped - Within Walking Distance of The City And Marina - The property was a home away from home. The host was charming and very helpful. The property was well presented and had many extras such as snacks and tea/coffee. It was very handy to have access to a washing machine. The air conditioning and fans were a god send. The kitchen was well equipped with a good amount of crockery, etc. The bed was comfortable. We stayed a week and didn’t have a hire car. It was a 25-30 min walk to the marina which was reasonable and some shops were only 20 mins away. The sofa was unbearably uncomfortable. It’s too low and too firm and actually gave us both bad backs. But we did stay for a week!

• Benedetta (9/5): Unique place, great value for money - The house was really nice, with an unique decor, spacious and with all needed for our short stay. The hosts were super kind and left for us some snacks and basics. The bed was comfy. The esplanade and the marina can be reached by foot in 20-30min. Excellent value for money. The only slightly negative thing is that this is a wooden house and it can be noisy. But we would definitely go back!

• Dr Sanjay (10/5): A Perfect Tropical Haven – Home Away from Home - JD Tropicals is truly a delightful gem, a place of rare charm and elegance. The home is quaintly yet tastefully kept, with an eye for the finest details that add warmth and character at every step. Immaculately clean and beautifully maintained, it exudes both refinement and comfort in equal measure. The gracious lady of the house, in spite of a broken elbow, was cheerful and exceptionally kind and ever helpful, adding a personal touch that makes one feel instantly at home. The kitchen is well-equipped with every amenity, ensuring ease and convenience throughout the stay. Its location, too, is most convenient, making it both practical and pleasurable. Every moment spent here was an absolute joy, and I could not recommend it more highly. A truly fantastic home and an experience I would happily rate a perfect 10 out of 10. Nothing

The kitchen had everything you could need (and more). Lots of little personal touches that made me smile and feel like a very welcome guest in a little "home away from home". We arrived later than the 10pm and the lovely host Jennifer stayed up to meet us which was much appreciated. Great stay and we will come back hopefully for a little longer next time. Nothing

• Jan (4/5): A mistake, my fault, I should have researched further. - The owners were pleasant The location was poor, too far from the city and in a plain neighbourhood. The bedroom was cluttered and poky, no privacy between bedroom and bathroom. Shower in bath is dangerous for older guests. The kitchen was well equipped but so many restrictions such as $1000 fine for cooking fish. We did not use any of the facilities for fear of a fine. There was noise from people walking about above the bedroom, the shower hot water cut out if someone else used water. The neighbouring property overlooked the external sitting area. We booked on the basis of many reviews giving a high average rating of 9.6. We were very disappointed.
• Sherryn (10/5): Comfort and quirky - This was a lovely quirky little apartment that had everything and more that you need. Bed was comfortable, shower good, quiet location and a host who made you feel very welcome. There was really nothing to dislike! You could walk into town if you're into a good walk and it was about 15mins to the closest supermarket, so car would be needed if you're not the inclined to be walking.
• Núria (10/5): 10000/10😊 - Even though we only stayed for one night, it was absolutely worth it. Every detail is so well thought out. There are bath salts in the bathroom, flip-flops, bathrobes, coffee, snacks, milk, cold water, so many lovely touches that make the stay feel truly perfect. The house is beautiful and very well equipped, it even has an oven, which isn’t always the case and everything is designed to make you feel comfortable. We had actually planned to go out and explore, but we ended up staying in because it just felt so cosy and relaxing! It was a short stay, but a special one and I’m sure we’ll be back if we return to the area. Highly, highly recommended! If I had to mention something, it would be that the Wi-Fi connection wasn’t very strong

• Nathaniel (10/5): Fabulous little apartment with everything that you could want! - Lovely hosts, the apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. You could easily use it as a home base for several days for a few people. It is a bit of a walk from the esplanade/center of town. You can hear the hosts walking around upstairs on the wooden floor boards (not an issue for me, but just an observation).
• Alexandra (8/5): Very good - The property is very cute and very well stocked with appliances, snacks and is al lot more spacious than appears in the photos. There is a lounge with 2 couches, a separate dining/kitchen area, and a cute bathroom with a bath. The host was friendly and easy to contact. The property is underneath a house, so sometimes there is a bit of noise from upstairs, but definitely not enough to interrupt your stay. There are other people coming and going around the property so maybe close your blinds when getting changed.

Bicycles would be very handy (especially for Dutch people 😹). The bed is rather small and too bouncy, 2 separate beds or mattresses would be a great improvement.
