Guest Reviews
- Aneta (6/5): Great location and terrace, but the flat is difficult to access and needs renovation. - The host was incredibly friendly and waited for us despite our late arrival (our ferry was delayed). He also sent us great recommendations for excellent local restaurants. The terrace was a wonderful feature of the flat, very pleasant and perfect for relaxing in the evening. From the bedroom window, you can see the Acropolis, which was a lovely bonus. The location was excellent too: the neighbourhood is charming and close to the main attractions, shops, and restaurants. The bed was large and comfortable. The flat was clean. The bathroom had a stock of nice toiletries. But—and this is a big but to all the positive points (and if these issues were mentioned in the flat description, I must have missed them)—there are some important things to note. First of all, the flat is accessible only via a narrow metal staircase, similar to a fire escape. You exit the main building on the top floor and then use this staircase to reach the flat. It feels secure enough, but for anyone with mobility issues, a fear of heights, or heavy luggage, it would definitely be difficult to manage.
The condition of the bathroom was honestly quite poor. A section of the plastic panel in the door was missing, the door frame was falling apart, and the shower consisted of a handheld shower head placed next to the toilet, without any separate shower area, so every time you use it, the entire bathroom gets wet. It also looks like it hasn’t been renovated in decades. The water pressure is very poor, too, so washing long hair took forever- but this is not something that the host can change, I guess.
The kitchen is spacious but poorly equipped: there’s no chopping board, no decent knife, no microwave, and the freezer door is missing, so everything inside was frosted over, and you couldn’t even make ice.
Overall, if I’d known about these things in advance, I would have chosen a different place, despite the lovely balcony, the friendly host, and the great location. That said, if the flat were renovated and better equipped, I’d happily give it a much higher rating.
- GICQUEL Paule (10/5): - La vue absolument magnifique ! Emplacement idéal et propriétaire très agréable, accessible avec beaucoup de bonnes adresses. On a adoré ce logement et on le recommande vivement ! Pas beaucoup de pression dans la douche mais ce n'est qu'une question de confort et d'habitude.
- cibele (1/5): Terrible I wouldn’t recommend it to my enemy - The photos it’s not the same as the property. To get to the studio you have to go up to q very dangerous stairs I swear it’s terrible , no hot water , the smell of gas even thou there were not gas supply in the property, we had to open the window and doors so the smell would go away , no proper shower if you want to wash your hair forget it . I try to tell the goatee but he wouldn’t accept it .
The pans were dirty . Everything the place it’s too expensive for what’s offered . In the end we left earlier and found a amazing place just in the corner way cheaper and decent !
- Lyndall (10/5): Acropolis Balcony - A very central location. Easy to walk to restaurants and attractions. My host was very helpful.
Great views of the city.
Would recommend to anyone visiting Athens.
- Andrew (4/5): - The view was fantastic The staircase was a death trap
The bathroom was a disgrace
This is not an 8.1 rated property it is more like minus 8.1
- Magda (10/5): - Usytuowanie perfekcyjne. Blisko wszelkich atrakcji, kawiarni i restauracji, a jednocześnie jest tam niezwykle cicho i spokojnie, obłędny widok z jednej i z drugiej strony, cudowny taras, przesympatyczny, pomocny gospodarz.
- Cathy (9/5): Athens can leave you breathless - Great location, huge balcony and the spectacular view from the bedroom . Very clean and very nice host There is an elevator to the 4th floor, then you climb up a flight of stairs and then an exterior narrow winding staircase thats to the apartment.
- Jaclyn (8/5): Great host, great location, comfy apartment, must be healthy/physically capable - My host met me personally at the property to provide the keys and directions for entry and a walk through if the apartment. He was very patient as it took me longer to arrive than originally expected. Looking north, the views of The Acropolis and Parthenon were amazing. It had a great south looking balcony too that had a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea and the port. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was very clean and helpful for storing left over food and making breakfast. Shower was hot. And it was in a great location, just a short walk to the Acropolis Museum and surrounding area. Everything I needed. It was difficult to access the apartment via the small spiral staircase. There were no safety features climbing up the skinny stairs, I was nervous I was going to fall trying to enter/exit the apartment. Guests should know that the apartment is not handicap accessible.
- Rhonda (7/5): Honestly, I would recommend this place for the price and location. The other issues are cosmetic. - We had no idea that we would have to walk up an outside spiral staircase (post knee-replacement). The patio is a great place to take in the view, mind you it's not the
Parthenon side, but it's a nice view. Wish they had lounge chairs though, for the size of the patio. The bed needs proper bedding, ie, mattress cover, and large enough, if not fitted sheets that don't come off during the night. Didn't love that the "shower" was just a shower wand in the bathroom. Not a deal breaker, but would rather have a real shower.
- Motz (8/5): Very good - perfect view of the Acropolis and Athen from the balcony. bathroom is a small galley head, but the water was hot. The stairs are tricky with large luggage, but for the price, excellent visit.
- Raúl (7/5): Good -
- Aga (9/5): great location, but few things need to kee in mind when booking. - the balcony and and the view. Also easy access to supermarket and all the attraction. The place had a good vibe. The staff were very helpful and reliable. the steep stairs (needs a lot of strength to carry 26kg suitcase) and there was no duvet, so felt cold at the night (stayed in October)
- Yasuhiro (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pj58 (7/5): Good - View is spectacular. The balcony is spacious. Privacy on the rooftop of Athens. Very friendly welcome from the host Access is not for people afraid of height or with large suitcases. The amenities are basic.
- Cohen (10/5): Perfect - Very nice apartment, best location we barely used any public transport, very friendly staff
Can’t wait to come back
- Alexander (7/5): Great location, few issues that are managable in the property. - The location was perfect and was near a metro station and most major tourist sites, not only this but the owner was really helpful and was avaliable frequently. Also the views were well worth the price. The facilities are outdated with a wobbly table and broken freezer door, stairs going to the property were difficult to get up and the shower is very small with no shower hook.
- Diane (8/5): Good apartment for a short stay - The host was kind and the check-in was easy. The location was central and had plenty of restaurants to walk to. The views from the apartment and balcony were stunning. We liked the large patio to sit for breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was nicely arranged. Th WiFi worked fine. There was an elevator most of the way, but the last flight was an outdoor metal ladder/steps attached to the apartment through a small door. It is inconvenient to try to get your luggage up and through. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen, close to an airplane size with a handheld shower that led to a drain under the sink. It's a little hard to get the process mastered of using the whole bath area as the shower. Make sure to advise your partner to use the toilet before you shower as it will all be wet. There was a pile of trash on our balcony that would have been appreciated to remove before we arrived. Overall we liked our stay and loved our views.
- Jsf55 (7/5): Good - Spacious rooftop balcony overlooking the city. Great view of the Acropolis from the opposite side windows. It is a rooftop apartment. Location is close to everything. Restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries all right there. The unit is good for a couple or single. I'll warn you right now, if you have problems with stairs and heights this is not for you. It was the oddest entrance into an apartment I've ever had, and I've stayed in several properties in Athens and islands. After taking an elevator up as far as it would go, there's then a flight of stairs, you go out a small door, and then it's a very narrow steep winding wrought iron staircase up to another very small door into the unit. If you drop the keys or lose your balance, watch out. This staircase resembles a fire escape, just hanging from the side of the building. It's a long ways down to the ground! It's not for those with bad knees, hips, or other leg ailments. I happen to have a bum knee so it was a challenge. Getting luggage up and down was extremely difficult. Actually on my way down, I set my suitcase on the stairs and it tumbled all the way down to the bottom. The stair steps are very small. However nowhere on the Booking.com site does the description of "Acropoli's Balcony" mention this difficult and unusual access.
The apartment was clean but old. There's dry rot in the bathroom since it also acts as the shower stall. Water pressure from the shower was weak, though good from the kitchen and bathroom faucets. The rooftop patio was very large but a bag of garbage was left behind along with some other odds and ends.
The kitchen was adequate enough, however the freezer hasn't been defrosted in some time and it wasn't useable due to frost and ice buildup.
- Sebastian (7/5): Good - The location was perfect. The host was super nice and helpful. The window view towards the Acropoli is spectacular- yet the balcony itself is directed to other part of the city. The bathroom is max. 1 square meter- practically it is a shower cabin with a toilet. The staircase is partially outside, not a problem for us, but it might be very difficult for individuals with mobility issues.
- Rishya (9/5): Superb - The location is absolutely brilliant
. Close.proximity to the central square. And the museum and the monuments. The view of the acropolis from the apartment was breathtaking. The apartment is two floor after 4 with NO lift access still exceedingly uncomfortable stairs
So please do not travel with big bags.
The bathroom is a tight squeeze
- Eduards (10/5): I liked everything. A very romantic place. I'm ready to go back. - Ideal location.
Everything is close (cafes, shops, metro and tram stops)
Amazing view of the Acropolis and the city.
Responsive and helpful owner.
- Van (8/5): Very good -
- Susanne (10/5): Amazing location and views of the Acropolis. - Amazing location and views of the Acropolis. Great balcony to sit and relax.
- Steven (4/5): A little disappointing, and not what I expected. Needs updates! - The only things likable about this property is the view of the Acropolis from the windows and a view of an amazing archaeological site being excavated just below us. The bed was comfortable. It’s within walking distance to many shops, cafes, places to eat, the metro station, and popular sites. Needs many updates! Other than the bed, all the furniture needs to be updated. All the tables and shelves that were supposed to be attached to the wall were very loose and almost falling off the wall so we couldn’t use them (1 shelf in the bedroom, a table in the living space and a table in the kitchen). The toilet, wash sink, and shower are all in one tiny space like a caravan, and everything in there gets wet when you shower, and the shower head isn’t attached to the wall. You almost have to sit on the toilet in order to shower due to the small space. I found little bugs in the toilet/shower room every day. The balcony doesn’t face the Acropolis, but rather the street and other apartments. The tv was in the cupboard and wouldn’t work when plugged in. There’s a big crack in the mirror of the wardrobe in the bedroom so I was nervous to open/close it so as to not make it worse. The call box to let people in from when they buzz in downstairs doesn’t work. Also, the apartment is at the very top of the building. To get to it you have to climb a very narrow, spiral staircase, so you must be extremely careful when using them so not to fall. It was a little difficult getting luggage up and down them. There’s a very small elevator to get from the ground floor to the level just below the apartment, but then you have to take the narrow, spiral staircase the rest of the way. If you don’t like elevators, particularly confined ones (you can barely fit 2 people and 2 carry on suitcases), then you will have to climb about 6 floors to reach the apartment.
- Julian (9/5): Just an amazing view - The view exceeded our expectations.
Our flight landed in the early hours of the morning but our body organised a transfer from the airport and waited up to ensure we were settled despite this being well outside the advertised check in time Nothing too much, the apartment is a little tired, but completely functional
- Shelbie (8/5): Stunning location, beautiful views and attentive host! - The location is absolutely brilliant - 5 minute walk to the Acropolis, Acropolis Museum and Plaka. Everything was within walking distance but the metro is also nearby and very safe.
The view from the property was understandably a big highlight for me - it was simply stunning!
Yiannis was helpful and friendly and helped me to feel at ease as he showed me the property and recommendations for what I could do/see while in Athens.
The property is equipped with a functional kitchen with oven etc so you can easily self cater and the balcony provides a lovely spot to chill and enjoy the sunset. The bathroom is small and there is no fixed shower head which I feel could be a big improvement to the property as it made it difficult to shower having to hold the shower head yourself.
I wouldn’t recommend this property to anybody with accessibility needs as there is a lift but you also need to climb steep stairs to get to the property.
- Dzein (6/5): Cozy with nice location, challenging staircases - The apartment has a nice view of Acropolis from the living room and bedroom window. It also has a balcony to chill in the evening. The set of 2 spiral staircases before reaching apartment is not so safe if bringing heavy suitcases. Not recommended if traveller is not strong to carry own suitcases and has mobility problem.
- Susanna (8/5): it’s a tiny but cozy apartment for 2 people . although the bathroom was tiny it was sufficient to get a nice hot shower - location ( very close to Acropolis ) ; great view of the Acropolis ; Comfortable bed ; large open balcony to sit & relax the stove & oven did not work .
there’s a narrow metal winding staircase up one level to the apartment . a huge luggage would be pretty hard to carry up .
- Louise (9/5): Well-located flat with unbeatable views - Incredible location & views, lovely balcony, nice compact flat
- Evangelos (6/5): Pleasant -
