Guest Reviews
- harper (1/5): Unfit for human habitation. No lights in lobby area.Freezing cold. The roof leaks badly and water dri - This place is a shambles the key box is in an unlit lobby area. It took 10 minutes to get the key box open. Worse than that there are about 12 wooden doors all unnumbered ane no directions as to which door the key fits.45 minuyes if trial and error.Repeated messages to the host were not answered.Property freezing cold and no hot water. The boiler was broken. Only fixed 18 hours after arrival. The roof leaked and we had water pouring into the bathroom. The host did not care.
- Alo (10/5): Ideal place for a group of friends. I strongly recommend it. - Very spacious, unique architecture, good location We kind a had a problem of finding the location of the rooms as we arrived late and it was like a puzzle . We as soon as we solved it was fun.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (8/5): a privilege to stay in a unique house - amazing traditional house in a great location. a privilege to stay in such a place. a huge amount of space, well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds some drawbacks which could be easily remedied- make sure all the lights work, provide dishwasher tabs, mend broken door knob, explain trick for locking the door and in general a bit more helpful information in the place rather than a list of ‘don’ts’!
then there are things not so easy to fix - like parking (again, more helpful information about the best places to park which are some distance away), having to put toilet paper in a bin rather than flushing, potential noise from other guests, though we were lucky, cold in the evenings, wifi not reliable, etc.
- Claire (9/5): Lovely and very comfortable accommodation, apart from bitterly cold nights which was tiring. - Lovely old building in great central location. Very spacious and beautifully furnished. It was freezing at night and we repeatedly asked for more blankets but none came despite being promised. Very miserable cold nights. Slept in our clothes.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Rasmus (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (9/5): A luxueuse cultural experience - felt like a real cultural experience to stay in the house and very spacious. felt cold at night due to no heating but sufficient bedding to accommodate
- Jennifer (2/5): It was miserable. Eventually we moved out into a hotel. We were never warm or comfortable. - This is a wonderful old building. We loved the terrace with it s views of the sea and the town even though the terrace furniture is falling apart. There is interesting art on the walls and the sitting area is pleasant. This property is completely unsuited for winter letting and needs some investment in the comfort of guests for any time of year. There is no heating at all. The bed is essentially a mattress on the floor. The shower is inadequate. We were unable to get help from the agent. Important to note that there are four flights of stairs to the apartment.
- Simon (4/5): Disappointing -
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Traditional setup. Very impressive. Listening to the neighbours from time to time should not be a problem.
- Goda (8/5): Unforgetable canarian experience - It's an impressive traditional canarian house, staying here was an unforgetable experience. Beautiful and huge living room, cosy courtyard. It's an old house, so don't expect much comfort:
- sound isolation is very bad, you can hear everything from other rooms, from neighbours, from cafe downstairs
- wi-fi is only available in the living room, not bedrooms
- it's a bit dark and dusty
- we didn't have accsses to the rooftop terrace
- 2nd bedroom bathroom doesn't have a door, only a curtain
- 3rd bedroom is very small and it doesn't have it's own bathroom, which means you have to use bathrooms that are connected with oher bedrooms and it feels a bit odd
- Ira (10/5): Gorgeous apartment in the heart of the historical center - OMG! The greatest gift to myself. It's an old historic building and I booked it after reading raving reviews. Gorgeous property and charming Canarian architecture to be working remotely from. I had the entire floor in the attic with access to a roof top and a humungous living room with open kitchen concept fully-equipped with all cooking utensils, juicer, a coffee maker, and a dish washer.
I definitely fully utilized the kitchen since I was working remotely. I squeezed OJ for the week and cooked some fine dinners. The town Orotava is beautiful and historical, so I was able to do my 4-mile run everyday, during my lunch hour and checked out the town that way.
Supermarket is 2 blocks away, there are a handful of cute-boutiquey stores minutes away, a nice coffee/bakery/sandwich shop right downstairs in the building. Parking was on the street and I mostly found a spot right in front of the building.
Wi-Fi in the living room was excellent and that was good enough for me as I used the table to get my work done. I didn't care to browse the Internet from the bedroom where the signal is low.
I love exploring new places every time I travel, but I foresee myself coming back to La Orotava just to stay in this grand apartment. The sink clogged in the bathroom and the final day the water didn't drain. It needs to be fixed.
- Svitlana (10/5): Exceptional -
