Guest Reviews
- Julie (9/5): - Location couldn’t be more beautiful - easy bridge connecting you to main town with short walk. Hiking in the area is superb. Dinner at restaurant nightly for €15 extra but very good meal and large portion. Breakfast every morning included with lovely spread. Campfire every evening with few adorable dogs that hang around. Property is 10/10 stunning and the staff are phenomenal. We LOVED this place!
- Justyna (10/5): - Room with a nice atmosphere and beautiful views. The owners are lovely, responsive and helpful. Wonderful, rich breakfast. Cute dogs and cats in the garden :)
- Janete (9/5): Spokojnosť, odporúčam - Vyborna poloha, mili personál, veľmi pohodlná posteľ, raňajky , síce bezmäsité, ale výborné Izba č. 5 na najvyšom poschodí bez balkona, pre fajčiarov nevýhoda, kúpelňa nebola súčsťou izby
- Emily (10/5): Traumhaft!
- Eduardo (7/5): - Do pequeno almoço Do quarto...basico e caro

- Freya (6/5): Fine - Nice building and views. Close to the river for nice swims. Cute animals We paid for a private bathroom and it was shared. I contacted the owner that others were using our bathroom and he did nothing. Felt unfair to pay so much to share. Dinner cost was way more expensive than places in town and the bathroom was mouldy
- Charlotte (8/5): We loved the calm, relaxing vibe, beautiful views and the sweet animals roaming around. - Super beautiful location, so calm and peaceful. The sounds of the river nearby were very relaxing. There is ample space to relax and enjoy the views. The room was very clean and a good size. Lamps next to the bed and more places to charge electronics would have been the cherry on top. Also more hooks in the room to hang towels or clothes.

- Federica (10/5): Benvenuti in paradiso! - Tutto! Un posto magico! Ancora adesso lo sogno di notte! È stata un'esperienza unica! Appena arrivati siamo stati accolti dai cavalli... Mucche, galline e gattini... Un paradiso! A saperlo avrei passato li tutta la vacanza! E loro gentilissimi e disponibili
- Laura (6/5): Valutate bene quale camera scegliere.
Staff gentile e disponibile.

- Taggart (9/5): - Beautiful views. Great quality bed and linen. Access to village good but just far away enough to be quiet and peaceful. Staff friendly and food excellent. Big portions. Lovely tranquil atmosphere with chickens, kittens etc providing a good country vibe. We loved it.
- Lisette (7/5): Great location, food and staff, but poor shower - The outside area was amazing. Beautiful view, very peaceful (except for the occasional zipline). The breakfast and dinner were amazing! Very good food! Best breakfast we had so far in Albania! Staff also super friendly. We were in Room 7 (in the top floor), the ceiling was super low (1.85/1.86 high) and the shower even lower. I am 1.85 and need to squat to wash my hair (when the shower worked), which is not great after a long hike. Also the shower didnt always work, which is an annoying start of the day.
- Massimo (8/5): - Very good location not too far from Theth, nice garden, breakfast was great. There is a zipline going through the property of the hotel that gives noise during the day up to 7 pm.
The bathroom was small.
- Ward (6/5): Underwhelming amenities but nice views. - Food was Ok. Beds were fine. Location and views were nice (except maybe the zipline right above the guesthouse). Booking description was not accurate. Bathroom was practically unusable and not larger than 1m^2. No hot water at all, shower head right above the toilet while we were promised a bath and shower. So lower your expectations and enjoy the views.

- Ulf-andre (8/5): Charming old house with friendly staff - Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice evening meal for 20 euro per person. Very small room and not according to the 30 square meter advertised. For showering you need to sit on the toilet.
- Krishan (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay at Kulla Pracja in Theth!
The staff were kind and welcoming, and the food was really good. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Theth!
- Aleksandra (9/5): Peaceful and perfect for a stay in Theth - The location was great! Was confused at first because Google maps said it took 25 minutes to get there from the centre of Theth, but it was really 10 minutes, following a different road. It was very peaceful and quiet, with chickens roaming around. The whole place had a cozy feeling. Wish we had stayed there for an extra night just to relax. Great location also to start the Valbona hike, as it's quite close to the start of the trail. Some hotels down the road were a bit further away. Beds were comfortable, overall nothing negative to say about the room. Nothing really! Just a tip to potential visitors is not to take the taxis for 15 euros that they offer in the centre in case one wants to visit Blue Eye - private drivers charge only 5 euro per person.
- Milan (10/5): excellent staff, great communication, cozy - Very nice environment, clean premises equivalent for high-mountain trekking. Very good breakfast.
- Claire (4/5): Property is nice but don’t book the family room - The location was good - if you are coming off the Valbona to Theth walk, see map screenshot for an unmarked small footbridge over the river behind Autentheth (between two stone buildings and to the right along the river) which is much easier than walking through town and across the main bridge to get there. The property was lovely on the outside with a beautiful view and the staff were friendly. We only ate breakfast here and enjoyed it. We were really disappointed that the “family room” did not have half of what it described (see screenshot) - only the two beds, one chair, one bedside table, one powerpoint, and the tiniest bathroom with a showerhead directly above the toilet and no room to move to properly wash. No seating area, bath, wardrobe, dressing room, desk…! The whole bathroom becomes wet after a shower and they ask you to leave shoes downstairs but don’t provide slippers to help with this. Having hiked in heat for 6.5hrs and hoping for some space and a good shower we were disappointed on arrival but so exhausted we decided to suck it up as only here for 2 days. Unfortunately our room was also right above the restaurant area so there was music playing from 6:30am and into the night we could not avoid as needed the tiny window open for air as it was very hot.
The toilet also makes a huge amount of noise for about 2 mins after each flush, bathroom door wouldn’t close, and you can hear everything from other guests in the next room/corridor.
We understand it’s a historical building but advertise the room honestly and make it cheaper as we have had much better stays in Albania for less.
We did speak to the staff the next day when we continued to have issues with the shower as the hot water wasn’t working, they helped us with this. We spoke to them about the listing issues and they confirmed this was apparently the right family room. We hope they update the listing to be accurate. Do not book this room for 3 people as there is barely space for 2! There looked like many other individual guesthouses being built on site which may be better.
- Gilbert (10/5): Exceptional stay! - The room was very nice and had everything I needed. The staff were super helpful and kind. The food was delicious. But, most impressive of all, was the setting of the accommodaiton - a large field with all kinds of animals roaming about. I simply loved it! Nothing!
- František (9/5): Superb - Aleks was kind and helpful host. If you are traveling on motorcycle, getting here might be difficult, lot of rocks and gravel.
- Malgorzata (10/5): Exceptional - The guest house is on the most beautiful property overlooking Theth Valley. A 200 year old building with soul. Great and yummy breakfast included, 3 course dinner for 15 euro. The kindest, most well-mannered host. Recommend 10/10
- Kai-brith (8/5): Cozy house in beautiful Theth - It's a cozy house in a gorgeous setting. Located next to a beautiful alpine river and only 10min walk to Theth center. There is a good asphalt route from Shkoder to Theth but the roads in Theth village are in very bad condition. This accommodation is located before Theth so you can avoid the horrible roads in the village. When we were there, they were still building the parking area so it was a bit tricky to find but I imagine it will be finished soon.
The host was very nice and took good care of us. There is an adorable kitty and 2 dogs living on the premises who are just lovely. The restaurant area is beautiful. You can order dinner for 15€/person. The dinner is nice but a bit overpriced. For that price we had much better food elsewhere in Albania. The breakfast was not as good as we expected - it was a bit boring and the omelette/eggs were cold both mornings. Also, the room was very chilly in April. It is only warmed by an electric heater. Our first night electricity went out many times in the whole village so the heater stopped working. Also, the room had no furniture other than the bed, one chair and a tiny bedside table. Would have been nice to have a closet for clothes.
Lastly, note that the room is advertised with private bathroom but the bathroom entry is actually from a common room next to your room, so it is actually not private.
- Luud (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location. Beautiful views and outside the centre.
The glass building in which breakfast and dinner are served is absolutely amazing in both winter and summer.
- Nerine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kinga (5/5): Good but not for cold months. - The owner was really nice and welcoming, the food was delicious, good parking space. Free roaming dogs that jumped all over clothes. The room had broken window, and was really cold we had to sleep in all of our clothes, small heater provided by owner was not enough. Lack of warm water and poor conditions of the bathroom - could not wash because of the cold, even cold water was steaming, room and bathroom not suitable for february.
- Dorota (8/5): Small but good - The views! Theth is located in the middle of the valley surrpinded by beautiful mountains. Only one electric socket in the room.
- Akarsh (7/5): Good -
- Suzana (7/5): Good -
- Vibeke (4/5): Don't book during winter. - Host did what he could to solve the problems below. Not recommended for winter. Access road was icy and steep, room was cold, fuses blew, water in bathroom froze. Due to this we slept badly and were not able to enjoy our stay.
- Kestutis (9/5): I did stay during off season and it is a magic that the hut was open - Atmosphere, competence of staff, food and extra tips I got from owner about hiking in the region. Light in the room
- Agustín (10/5): Exceptional - the house is really cozy and traditional, we were surprised about how amazing was the dinner, it was the best soup we tried in Albania in our 10-days trip!! the owner helped us a lot with the car in the snow and almost saved our life with the chains! the natural environment in the morning was amazing and very quiet, so we could really feel in pace and relax :) nothing
- Jinshid (7/5): Good -
- Fiona (7/5): What a place very fortunate to get to view the Albanian Alps and area. - Fabulous views, lovely room for meals with a fire at night. Very homely. The owner was very attentive and friendly.
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional - Nothing but good things to say. Beautiful place. Beautiful views. Adorable kittens. Amazing food. Amazing room.
- Hal (8/5): Great spot. - Lovely setting. Great host. Water was a bit of an issue on the top floor.
- Jasper (9/5): Superb - The view, location, the room, the kittens, good breakfast
Nice area to chill for a day. Nice common facilities The food was 20 euros which is expensive for Albania. But it was a huge amount of food for 2 people. I woule down size the portions and make it cheaper.
- Karlis (10/5): Exceptional - really nice location.
incredibly tasty food.
very, very nice host.
I advice to stay here and enjoy Theth. -
- Javier (9/5): Superb - The place is spectacular, the best views you can have when you wake up. The staff's attention is magnificent, and the breakfast is very good. Comfortable beds and a feeling of well-being in that place in Theth that left us captivated. 100% recommended.
- Adam (7/5): Good - Such a beautiful stay in Theth. The Manager, Aleks, was incredibly accomodating, gentle and kind. He went above and beyond for us!! Very delicious dinner and breakfast, comfortable bed, easy to walk into town, a lovely indoor fire in the restaurant room. Unfortunately due to the nature of a property being in the mountains, the pressure from the rainfall broke the hot water heater and it leaked through the roof onto the bed when we were sleeping. The electricity also went out a few times. However, this was out of their control and the manager fixed this as soon as possible and was very apologetic!
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - It’s in a beautiful location and I found it easy to find, just over the main bridge from theth there is a trail through the trees. The room was very comfortable and there was extra blankets to keep warm as it was cold when I stayed. The dinner (€20) was amazing, there is so much food I found it worth the money and it was all delicious. Breakfast was included with my stay and the buffet was perfect before a day of hiking. Staff were all very friendly and let me check in early which was good. Would recommend
- Toby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jakub (10/5): Beatiful accomodation with pleasant staff in Theth. - Place of the accomodation was breathtaking. View on mounties and home animals like a horses running around you was amazing experience. Also host Aleks was very friendly and willing to make you feel good. Also option to buy dinner which is more like a feast than just a regular dinner, would really recommend.
- Sarah (4/5): Disappointing - Guesthouse is cozy and set in a nice location away from the more loud and touristy section of Theth I would not recommend staying here as a solo female. The owner/guesthouse manager made me feel uncomfortable - he asked me why I was travelling on my own, and showed me to a room that was directly across from his own, where I would have shared a bathroom with him. He then accused me of stealing the room key after I had left.
- Mohsin (9/5): Superb - The location was amazing and the facilities were clean. The host was excellent and knowledgeable. The host did an excellent job with his resources but the meals were a bit expensive.
- Marzia (9/5): We enjoyed a lot our stay, the staff is super kind and helpful and the dinner amazing!! -
- Agata (9/5): Beautiful place to rest your mind. - The Kulla PRacja is located in a beautiful spot, surrounded by mountains. From every direction, you can see peaks over 2,500 meters high, and the view is breathtaking. The house is nearly 200 years old, so you can't expect soundproof, modern rooms. The spirit of the mountains is felt throughout the house. The room we stayed in was small but very clean. We spent most of our time outdoors. In the garden, there are chickens and horses that my son enjoyed watching. Additionally, there's a volleyball court, a large lawn, and parking. The area is picturesque, and it takes about 5 minutes to walk to the center of Theth. The staff is very friendly, especially Aleks, who is very helpful and hardworking. The breakfasts are the same every day, but still tasty—bread, vegetables, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, and something sweet. We had dinner at the resort every evening. For dinner, there's always a salad, pickles, local cheese, bread, soup, and a choice of main courses: chicken, pork, beef, or a vegetarian option, usually stuffed peppers. We had a very restful stay at this place and recharged our batteries. I highly recommend it. You can hear other guests in the rooms, but this is because the building is nearly 200 years old and has wooden ceilings. However, all the guests respected the quiet hours, and after 10 PM, all conversations and noise in the rooms ceased, allowing us to sleep soundly and peacefully every night.
- Alice (7/5): Beautiful place surrounded by mountains but overpriced - The place is wonderful, surrounded by the mountains, in a big green garden. There are horses and cute cats. The included breakfast is delicious and there is plenty of food. You woke up with an amazing mountain view. You can have dinner there for 20€/person. It is good and you have many different dishes. The place is located ~15-20min away from Theth "center" by walking. Great place to go hiking around or rest after Valbonë - Theth hike. The price. It is the most expensive price we paid for a night - by far - in Albania. Yes the place is amazing, but the rooms in the main building are basic small rooms with a very small bathroom. The building is all wood so you can hear other guests. For 50€ a night it would be a 10/10, but 90€ is over priced.
- Guy (9/5): Superb - Excellent food and service. Lovely surroundings, grounds and dining area and good fires at night when it got cooler. Location was a bit of a climb up from the centre of the village but only really 10 minutes and worth it when there.
- Lucy (4/5): overall, we were quite disappointed with our stay - most times we felt very uncomfortable and a burden. On top we were n - the location of the property is very close to the town of Theth (about a 10 minute walk), the property the house is located on was also very lovely (very nice scenery). Unfortunately our stay was very disappointing. On the second day we returned to our room to find that our bed had been completely soaked through the mattress and onto the bed frame with dirty water that had leaked from the roof - we understood that the building is old and problems may arise but it was how the problem was dealt with that was really quite poor. Upon talking to management, they informed us that they will deal with the issue - however, their way of dealing with said issue was flipping the mattress and adding numerous thick blankets on top of it under the sheets (see photos). This was extremely unacceptable as the mattress was completely soaked and we still had another 3 nights of sleeping on it. We then confronted the staff about this and they made it seem like we were a huge inconvenience to them, huffing and puffing. They eventually replaced the mattress with 2 single beds pushed together - which should have been the solution from the start.
After two days, a 14 year old member of staff approached us to explain that their staff had been sleeping uncomfortably and wanted their single mattresses back (we didn’t know the beds had come from the staff quarters); therefore they wanted the wet mattress which had been sitting outside with the farm cats playing on it (see photos of it outside) to be put back on our bed. We refused this as we had noticed it sitting outside, and it made for a very awkward and uncomfortable conversation.
To follow up on this - at times the only point of contact was the 14-year old girl (who was lovely) but we were uncomfortable that there was no adult to speak to. We understand this is a family run home stay but often she was the only point of contact we had which is unacceptable; there should be an adult around at all times to speak to regarding any issues.
- Julie (8/5): Really chilled vibe wish we had stayed longer. - Beautiful old house bed very comfortable
Staff friendly
Really chilled vibe
Food fantastic especially evening meal and breakfast not bad either!!
Property is about 3 mins drive from top zip wire station and is signposted Only negative was bathroom a bit small in particular shower area but we were staying in 100year old house so to be expected.
- Chenee (10/5): Superb location - Superb location. It is located just outside of Theth, which made it very quiet and peaceful. It has a lovely view out over the Albanian Alps.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We had breakfast and dinner every day. It was homemade, very tasty and huge. Lovely setting outside to enjoy the fresh mountain air.
We enjoyed hiking in the area.
- Ibrahim (9/5): Perfect Location to explore Theth - Outstanding location a little outside the village. Nice host and nice food. The 3 bed room with balcony was perfect for our family (Kids 3 and 6). Everything was as expected in an old building. If you are noise sensitive bring oropax.
- Tetiana (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, huge outdoor area and garden, clean and comfortable, helpful and friendly staff, very tasty homemade breakfast and dinner.
- Alex (9/5): Lovely stay - Staff were lovely and helpful, Breakfast was great Our only feedback would be that the rooms were quite warm during the night, a fan or air conditioner would have been suitable
- Neil (9/5): Relaxing in the Accursed Mountains - Superb location. Located just outside of Theth, which is perfect because very peaceful. The domain is huge, with lots of space and seating opportunities. Our daughter rode and loved Amigo, the horse. The center of Teth is just 10 minutes away by foot. Aleks was the nicest person, always there and ready to help! The room in the Kulla was maybe a bit too small.
- Miriam (10/5): Lovely few days in Theth. Kulla pracja has been the perfect place to stay, the views from the garden are amazing. We rea - The big garden. The staff very welcoming. Amazing breakfast and dinner.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Great location and lovely outdoor spaces with a hammock for relaxing.
Good breakfast included.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Seems slightly overpriced compared to other places.
Walls and windows are very thin so quite a disturbed sleep due to noise.
- Arun (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, peaceful spot. Staff were very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was delicious too!
- Stefan (8/5): Very good - Nice place, great personnel nice room and big balcony. The road the last couple of hundred meters is substandard but was passable with a. Normal car The shower is small but a larger (shared) was available downstairs
- Rose (4/5): Very disappointing for cost - Breakfast was included and good quality Not good value for money
We were sleeping in staff quarters unaware of this when booked
it was noisy with kitchen staff underneath arguing in the mornings
Staff wake up alarms woke me at 6.30 am each morning
- Lydia (9/5): Superb -
- Marina (7/5): Good - Nice breakfast The shower had no curtain so water splashes everywhere in the bathroom.
We were missing curtains in our room so light would get in through the windows
- Tuomas (7/5): Good - Aleks and other staff were really great. They make us feel really welcome and treat us super kindly. Dinner was excellent, worth of the price. There’s no any insulation, so all the voices from outside and from the other rooms could hear clearly. So remember earplugs if you like to get any sleep.
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - The property is set in the pristine location of Theth, approximately a ten minute walk from the main valley and the start of the Valbona Pass hike.
Here you can enjoy nature, isolation from the working world and first class service from Alex and his team. Breakfast, dinner, sides and drinks are the best in Albania.
We also enjoyed horse riding on-site and made great friends with the resident cat.
This is the best place to stay in Theth where you will enjoy the most authentic experience possible
The property is beautiful, comprising a period property and several new chalets, as well as a dedicated restaurant, outdoor seating and volleyball court.
We are genuine in saying we will be back very soon and plan to recommend this property to everyone close to us. There is nothing to dislike.
- Alexia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Freya (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant stay with extremely friendly and helpful team! Aleks was obliging and gave us great advice for our trips and treks around Theth. Nice location which is only a 15 min walk from centre. Thank you!
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorottya (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely rock house inside nice wooden walls and ceiling, panorama to the mountens, comfortable bed, quality furnitures, new and clean bathroom, good qualitiy equiment. Totally peacful and beautiful environment. We got delicious breakfast with lots of food as a part of the price. 🙂 Our host was friendly, polite and gave as good advices and recommendations. The house is 10 mins walk from Theth center, so it has intimacy, we drank some wine each evening in front of the house, in the peacful nature. We absolutly recommend this accomodation! 😍 Maybe less lightening outside would be better in the evening, but that is really not a big thing.
- Stewart (10/5): Beautiful Mountain View’s - We had a lovely stay at Kulla Pracja the location was very close to the end/start of the trail for the Valbona pass. It was also a short walk to restaurants and other beautiful trails.
Breakfast was tasty and in ample supply. Of all the breakfasts I had in Albania it was by far the best.
Alex the host was incredibly helpful and had lots of knowledge of activities, restaurants and travel information about the area. Without a doubt he helped make our stay amazing.
The room was spacious, clean and has lovely views out over the Albanian Alps.
Would firmly recommend.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niamh (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable room. Good breakfast. Host is very helpful and kind.
- Eloy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (8/5): Overall good experience! - Very friendly and welcoming host. The breakfast place/bar was in a glasshouse with exceptional views of the mountains. We had freshly made pancakes and tea. Very delicious!
The rooms were okay! There is a heater in the room if you get cold.
The shower is like mentioned in other reviews above the toilet but if you get the toilet paper out it’s more than fine and it also dries fast. It was a good shower!
Theth is around the corner and also all the sights are close. It was a little hard to find and the drive way was bumpy. Maybe it would helpful to light the sign on the street so you can see it more easily.
- Georgi (10/5): Exceptional - Alex was an amazing host! The proximity to mountains and trails is amazing!
- Ignė (10/5): Would definately come back - The property is in a magical place. It has breathtaking views of mountains, it’s very quiet place, so you can easily relax there. The house had everything you need and the host was amazing and very welcoming. He showed us the culture, gave us all the needed information and more. The breakfast was simple but really good, especially pancakes :) The place is quite close to the center of Theth so you can just walk there.
