Guest Reviews

- Werner Swanepoel (10/5): - Such a good location, and the host went out of her way to make sure we were sorted - had a great weekend! The animals on the farm was also a highlight for our toddler.
- Annabel (9/5): - Farm animals were lovely and enjoyed by all, especially the six year old.
- Jesslyn (10/5): - The peacefullness
- Melissa (8/5): - Very spacious and comfortable
- Mingjie Gu (9/5): - We had an overnight stay at the farm. The bed was comfy, and the animals are lovely. Great weekend getaway spot.
- Shelley (9/5): Allusions offered stunning countryside views, a big comfy space and warm country welcome. - Thank you for our wonderful stay at Allusion. We especially enjoyed the spacious rooms, warm heater, modern facilities and the grown-up kids enjoyed meeting the friendly animals and learning a bit about a working farm.
- Noble (10/5): Our stay exceeded our expectations. - Our host T.J was very welcoming and friendly. My intellectually disabled brother loved interacting with the animals. Our unit was comfortable and very competively priced. Beautiful surroundings and convenient to places we wanted to visit. We were happy with everything about our stay.
- Yana (10/5): -
- Monica (10/5): -
- Charlie (10/5): An escape to nature - A quiet getaway in nature that is close to hikes with expectional views. The unit was private with the occasional farm animals passing by, a perfect escape from the world. Personally, I have nothing to fault. TJ was able to accommodate everything I needed to have the perfect staycation.
- Mccarthy (10/5): - The freedom to interact with the animals. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable
- Andrea (9/5): -
- Susie (10/5): Absolutely fabulous. Will book again - The host was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. We loved meeting
The animals were perfect and a joy being on the farm. Even scrappy the goat.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Liam (10/5): -
- Sabrina (7/5): An easy and relaxing getaway in nature, thank you - Good location, loved the animals and the spa bath My daughter struggled to get the tv working, the pillows had some stains .. but overall we were happy with our stay 😄
- Maver (10/5): - Wonderful connection with farm animals
- Sandra (6/5): adequate - no breakfast
- Elizabeth (9/5): Fantastic Farm Stay. Home away from home! - Surprise animal guests for our evening BBQ 😍
Good private accommodation.
Unreal scenery. Water pressure poor
Bed on the smaller side
- Sean (10/5): Quiet and peaceful 😀 - Perfect spot, no complaints at all, fantastic 👌
- Giorgio (7/5): -
- Santos (10/5): -
- Gabb (10/5): - Quiet .. lots of wildlife and 2 beautiful dogs
- Abby (10/5): A great place to stay for a quiet break that's still close to it all -
- Alexandrea (9/5): Superb - Peaceful setting, comfortable bed and relaxing bath No milk was left for us, would’ve been nice with our morning coffee
- Julie (7/5): Good -
- Lily (1/5): Unsafe for children and a clear case of negligence. - Our stay turned distressing when the property's dogs, initially appearing friendly, became aggressive. While walking with our children to view the animals, the dogs began barking directly at my three year old, then chased him. He screamed and ran back toward me but tripped, cutting his chin on a rock.
I picked him up and yelled for the dogs to stop, but they did not back off. The owner had advised that the dogs only respond to them - yet they were not on site. This created a genuinely unsafe situation, especially for young children.
While I was holding my son, one of the dogs took his Riff Raff comfort toy from his hands. It was never returned. This is a costly and essential comfort item many families will recognise.
The dogs also barked continuously from 6pm until 11:30pm, disturbing our sleep. When I politely asked if someone could call them off, the owner responded that they were out of town and blamed a fox. However, no one was ever sent to manage the situation, nor were the dogs called away.
Despite informing the owner, there was no concern shown. I was never asked if my son was okay. Instead, blame was repeatedly shifted back onto us, even though the dogs were unprovoked and followed us throughout the stay. Not once did the owner acknowledge any wrongdoing or see the seriousness in the situation. Instead, used ai generated texts to respond, never acknowledging and understanding the trauma involved.
Each message felt dismissive, gaslighting, emotionally disconnected, and lacking in empathy - despite my being polite and hesitant to speak up after so many ongoing issues.
The listing was also misleading. The spa bath was broken, the toilet leaked foul smelling fluid, there was no heating in the rooms despite the cold, and we were told the children would be able to view animals, which never happened.
A formal investigation is now underway.
I strongly urge families not to book this property.
- Allison (9/5): Superb -
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shannon (9/5): Family time - Very comfortable house, plenty of bedding, warm heater, great hot water. Very quiet location with, wonderful views. Very friendly animals, that the kids loved interacting with. We should have booked more time.
- Kristi (10/5): A wonderful quiet stay - They had lots of animals, TJ was super friendly and introduced us to her animals, the beds were comfortable and the setting was tranquil. We had everything we needed and it was a lovely stay. All great.
- Wendy (9/5): Great accommodation and loved seeing all the kangaroos nearby during the evening. -
- Laura (9/5): Beautiful unexpected tranquil setting, great accommodation, lovely area to sit outside too. A few visits form a sweet li - The setting was amazing, I wasn’t expecting it! So peaceful and also close to the town.
Unfortunately we didn’t get time to meet all the animals, hopefully next time. Not sure about the adjoining units, I would have preferred to know this first, one night a family stayed and we could hear a lot of noise. I’m glad it wasn’t for our whole stay.
- Valley (8/5): Perfect to visit kangaroo island and relaxing. - Very quiet and in countryside and could walk without traffic and enjoyed farmyard animals.
- Dianne (8/5): Fabulous farmstay - Allusion farmstay was a wonderful place to stay, it had all the facilities allowing you to cook( stove, oven and bbq) and the comfort of a house- lounge suites, tv, bathroom etc at a price less than a caravan park cabin.
The added attraction was the farm animals who came to visit throughout our stay. It was quiet, yet close to Yankalilla for groceries etc. TJ the owner was amazing , she made our stay even better by generously offering use of the house pool and even allowed our friends to visit.
We did have a couple of issues but she was right onto them and they were fixed in a timely manner. Nothing to dislike, the accommodation is not “ luxury” but we knew what to expect. Everything was comfortable, clean and suited our needs.
- Bernard (10/5): Peaceful and beautiful. - The scenery was gorgeous, the cabin was beautifully appointed and the beds, especially the queen bed, were blissful to sleep in.
- Bryn (8/5): Very good - Great location tucked away with plenty of kangaroos around. Cabin had everything we needed for our short stay. We booked through booking.com and received a generic welcome email/message but were never given any instructions for checking in.
We arrived at the property and found no one to check us in even after calling the phone number with no answer.
We found 2 unlocked cabins with keys in, named Cabernet and Shiraz and had to walk in to both and compare pictures from the booking to confirm which one was ours as on booking.com it is simply listed as 'Two bedroom villa'
We managed to find our cabin and enjoyed our stay but if no one is on site to perform the check in then detailed instructions of how you want people to self check in would help reduce any confusion for future guests.
- King (10/5): Perfect farmstay - Friendly host, beautiful large house that suited our needs. Getting up close to the animals especially the goat.
- Priscilla (8/5): Very good -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - The unit had everything we need, was very comfortable.
Loved the location as well.
Rooms were very nice, I was in love with my quilt, I know it sounds funny, but I had agreat sleep 😁
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eliana (6/5): A lovely area and surroundings, great nature and good for outdoors people! Some issues with the cleanliness - We loved the surroundings and style of the cabins - it’s a great area! Unfortunately there were some issues with the cleanliness of the property, to which we brought up with the owners on our stay. It was a shame! We felt the way the property was not kept in line with the price point for 1 nights stay.
- Precious (10/5): Beautiful location - Beautiful location...so tranquil. Accomodation met our needs...comfortable Nothing
- Sue (9/5): We will recommend this stay to others. - Lovely country spot. So quiet!
- Bella (2/5): Very poor - Couch was dirty. For the price, they should have much nicer linens
- Andreas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grear (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): Pleasant - interior and beds also kitchen. loved the raised verandah. Shower in the spa bath very dangerous access for older people like us. Decided too dangerous to shower on the 2nd day. No hanging space for clothes. Very rough road from main south road and even rougher up to property.
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Isabella (10/5): Our stay at Allusion Farmstay was sensational, very relaxing and a perfect way to end a work trip. - I loved the size, the view and the atmosphere of the property
- Miranda (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable unit and facilities
- Niber (9/5): Superb - Very clean, great location, had all the basic stuff we needed, good deck space. Not a compulsory thing but place could use some snacks that can be included in the price.
- Kate (9/5): perfect getaway location - Great location! the villa was lovely and was so peaceful and relaxing! Just a shame we didnt get to meet Millie :-)
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachael (10/5): Will absolutely be staying again. - The location was stunning. So close to lots of awesome sights. The unit was so comforting and well thought out. Everything you could possibly need to feel at home.
Staff were incredible and the animals were a lot of laughs. Loved our stay. Only thing that could possibly improve is stocking of items eg. Paper towel or garbage bags. However the staff continued to let us know if we needed anything we could always ask!

- Heather (10/5): Allusion Farmstay - Peace and Tranquillity - The peace and quiet! Comfortable, warm, welcoming and just what we needed. Excellent value for money. The host, TJ, was absolutely lovely and so kind. Loved patting the animals on the farm. Suggestion would be to put fly screens on the windows. Also, old fashioned, but a dvd player would be great.
- Sophie (7/5): Good - Loved how peaceful it was! Basic accommodation for price
- Leah (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay! The location was beautiful, the host was so helpful and lovely and the animals were adorable :) we will definitely be back!
- Darren (9/5): Relaxing, great vistas. - Lovely view and walks. Great deck to enjoy the nature.
- Jodie (1/5): Bad -
- Sarah (5/5): Passable -
- Andrew (1/5): Never again. - Smoke detector removed. Emergency EXIT sign not working. A real Death trap! Dead spiders hanging around bathroom ceiling. Outside paintwork peeling and cracking. Bed really uncomfortable. Castor wheel under bed very noisy/broken?
- Hildebrand (9/5): Superb -
- Chloe (3/5): Poor -
- Reeva (9/5): Superb - It's a beautiful place amidst nature. The host was very easy to connect with. Me along with My husband and daughter are traveling through South Australia. We didn't have a car to go around. The hostess was really kind to get us dinner and breakfast and didn't charge anything for it. Enjoyed our stay. There's nothing to not like the place.
- Elaine (10/5): A wonderful stay, want to return soon! - It was a perfect getaway for us. We really enjoyed the beautiful surrounds, the peacefulness, the adorable farm animals viewed on our walks. The accommodation was clean and welcoming. Looking forward to another stay there.
- Ellena (8/5): We had a wonderful weekend and will return again - The accommodation was well looked after and excellent value

- Gerry (9/5): Definitely recommend - Always enjoy staying here really nice and comfortable. Have stayed there 2 or 3 times Nothing much to note as the place outways any issues
- Jasmina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrzej (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathie (8/5): Very good -
- Maxwell (8/5): owner and staff were very helpfull and we wish them success with their endeavour - great spot with good facilities we are use to a larger bed although bed was very comfortable
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Rosalie (8/5): Very good - The farm area was lovely and quiet At first unsealed road access was a little daunting but once signage was clear all was ok.
- Mei (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gabrielle (10/5): Amazing property, great deck with BBQ to use if raining (which it was) will stay again ❤️ - Secluded property in the bush I just loved it ❤️
- Tonya (9/5): Great little gem - Shiraz cottage - Great quiet 2 bedroom cottage. Was a fantastic little place for mum and I while waiting out the bad weather.
There is plenty of linen and cosy warm blankets. 2 comfy sofas as well. Coffee pod machine made my mornings.
- John (8/5): Very good - Awesome accommodation Smoke alarm on top fridge? Bbq not clean , blinds hard use
- Kazza (10/5): Exceptional - Everything,so accommodating,the views and vacitaties are amazing
- Sarah (10/5): Wished we stayed longer - Amazing remote location, spacious house beautifully decorated. Amazing host. Great place to switch off and relax. A branch was broken halfway over the road towards the property but still passable by car and a branch was scratching the roof of the property. Given it was very windy when we stayed, the branch scratched the roof a lot which can be disruptive to your sleep.
- Katherine (8/5): Just some suggestions. - The farm cat was so cute just wanted to take her home with me. Was very quiet and the scenery was amazing. The cabin was roomy and well furnished. Heating was lovely. It was clean but could've been abit more thoroughly. The oven griller, microwave and freezer weren't really wiped out. Few marks on doors and walls. No biggy. The blind adjustment stick was missing in second bedroom. Had to climb on bed to turn the knob to shut blinds. No sugar supplied so left some sachets in draw for next tenant's. A hand towel would also be handy as can't dry much with a flannel.
- Kelle42 (2/5): Regrettably, our experience at the property was far from satisfactory - Location was nice, surrounded by trees. Sadly, our stay at the property was marred by persistent issues, compounded by challenges in dealing with an unyielding host. We tried to communicate these concerns with the owner over three of our four days there. Including, broken blinds in the bedroom and having to place a sheet over it for privacy (note: sunlight beams in at dawn even with the sheet), incessant loud bangs and shrieks from branches hitting the roof constantly day and night (wish I could upload videos here), and a malfunctioning bath/shower hindering us from being able to use it properly. Despite bringing these concerns to the owner's attention, our comfort within the apartment remained unsatisfactory, making our stay less than comfortable or enjoyable. The host acknowledged awareness of these issues, claiming they were already on their to-do list. Yet, our endeavours to obtain compensation directly from the host were in vain, resulting in them abruptly ceasing communication. Before this, they boldly asked us to abstain from posting a negative review. Deeming it unfair to pay the full price for our less-than-ideal stay, we invested several hours contacting booking.com in an effort to obtain compensation. Regrettably, the owners remained unresponsive to calls and emails from booking.com. As a result, the host has evaded providing compensation for our below-average experience, and unfortunately, as customers, we find ourselves without any recompense from the owner, compelling us to share this negative review as a warning to others.
A few things to note: the bed was extremely squeaky (would make noise just looking at it). The bathroom window didn't have a bug screen. The kitchen dish drainer was a cheap collapsible one used for camping (it doesn't hold a lot of items). We only got 1 minute of hot water per shower. When using the spa bath jets the motor was VERY loud throughout the house. The lamp in one of the bedrooms was sparking and flickering.
- Kylie (8/5): Very good - Location, quiet, relaxed, everything we needed That we only booked 2 nights - wish it was longer!
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Al (10/5): A lovely rural retreat - Location was peaceful and scenic, and the cottage cosy and well equipped. Tj (the host) was very helpful and responsive. Check in was flexible and easy.
- Julie (8/5): Home among the gums trees! - Fabulous bush block location! Birds, especially blue wrens,
at the door! Clean linen!! Sadly, a bit on the tired, rundown side, could do with a good clean. Hoping it is only temporary!!
- Sonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allison (8/5): Animals lover - Loved the quietness and seeing all the animals around and its only a 1km away from the township People before us, weren't so clean. Other than that was great.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ailidh (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (6/5): Pleasant -
