• Lucinda (2/5): - From the photos we chose it because it looked beautiful and fresh and new. Can’t comment in person as we didn’t go inside. I am sure it is fantastic inside and I am sure the staff are great but we chose not to stay there because of the location and the lack of secure car park. We were in Sydney for a sports comp and it was close to the sporting venue - we just did not understand the area and the demographics of the immediate area.

• Carly (5/5): - The bed Taking a security deposit in literally the ghetto, that doesn't come back to you for a week. I'm sick of this crap, take it in a second, return it in a second. Room not ready at 9pm. Room boiling hot, didn't't go below 26.5 all night and we only went there to be cool. Room itself good. Staff let us know they were closing and no one would be there so no point calling to get a cooler room. Oh and I fed the homeless in the parking lot. Good look.

• Kristen (8/5): Beautiful Fresh on a Budget - The room was fresh, extremely clean and new. Bed comfortable pillow top and extra comfortable pillows. Bright and relaxing colours. Shower and bathroom was above expectations. Bistro food was nice too. It was a 35c day and having the aircon on since we arrived at 6pm, room temp showed 28c still at 11pm. The shade was down but it was very hot all night. Please turn the aircon on before arrival in the day I think may help.

• Hayley (3/5): The staff were lovely, but overall we would not stay again. - The room was clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating when we asked to change rooms. It needs to be clearly stated in the listing that this hotel is above a pub. It reeks of cigarette smoke in the pub and bistro, and in the stairwell outside the hotel rooms. The rooms themselves don’t smell awful, but the smell of cigarette smoke is pungent everywhere else. We had to move rooms after one night because there is a bright light outside of the window that made the room too bright to sleep. In both rooms we stayed in, the toilet seat was loose. The shower needs a door or curtain so the bathroom floor doesn’t end up flooded. We needed to push the water into the floor drain and dry the floor every time we showered. The beds were too soft like marshmallows. I felt like my feet were higher than my head when lying down because we sank into mattress.

• Ebony (2/5): Find somewhere else to stay - Comfortable bed Too many things to list but here goes: - when checking in, the hotel manager followed me into the hotel room and closed the door behind himself to give me a tour of the room and bathroom. He kept staring at my breasts and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable being inside a small room with him with the door closed. Nothing happened but as a young woman travelling alone this was not acceptable behaviour in my personal opinion, and I definitely felt uncomfortable going to sleep (also note the hotel door does not have an internal security lock) - the hotel hallway absolutely stunk of stale cigarette smoke and as an asthmatic that wasn’t great - the hotel is located above a pokies bar and seemingly in a pretty dodgy area of Sydney. I worried about my car in the parking lot all night as well as walking to my car in the dark alone at 5am the next morning. Hotel also surrounded by housing commission - other hotel guests probably had a few too many drinks and kept slamming their room doors all night. I must have woken up about 30 times - to checkin you have to walk through the bar and bistro with your luggage and check in at the bar. A bit of a weird experience - $250 security deposit was taken when I arrived (which was more than the total sum of 1 night accommodation of $180). $50 security deposit sure I could understand but $250 was way out of touch with reality of hotel quality. Also the listing says $200 not $250 as it should Personally I would never stay here again under any circumstances and wouldn’t recommend to others. I should have read other reviews beforehand and left as soon as I arrived as a few other guests have done.

For the service we received, I would expect the price be a third of what is adver - Room was okay; however if you stay more than 1 night here, the cleanliness becomes an issue as there is no cleaning done on a day to day basis. Number of things I did not like about this place. - Venue calls itself a Hotel in their title; however we stayed 4 nights and our room was not cleaned at all. Towels were not changed, rubbish bins were full and not changed, complimentary items (milk, coffee etc) were not replenished. - view from room was not good (view was a rubbish bin). - air con did not work (set at 19 degrees however, did not reach that temperature at all. Remained at 23 degrees). - Charging ports not by bed side table, so phone was charging on floor. - Hard to locate reception. Check in was done in a dining room. - area felt very unsafe, a lot of shifty people hanging around. Yelling and screaming can be heard at night.

• Maan (9/5): Clean and Comfortable - I reached early at the hotel driving from Hunter Region 2 hours from Sydney, for a short wait, they checked me in early, one of the access cards was not working they fixed it with ease. The room was quiet, clean and spacious, this is my 2nd time in this hotel, and l will come back again whenever visit Sydney. They have nice bar and very good food varieties in the main restaurant,, the hotel have very live environment,, there was a function, seems a farewell party. Since waiting to check in, l had a very nice and quick beer schooner. I really like this hotel, they take upfront deposit which will be returned after few days. Nothing

• Maximo (8/5): Surprisingly good accomodation in a not so great location. But great if you need to be in the area. - The room was a great surprise. Everything was good quality and brand new. Very comfy bed and great bathroom. Fully stocked minibar, coffee machine. Great AC and TV. Easy to order in room dining. Very helpul gentleman helped with the check-in. Great value for money. The location isnt great but served its purpose as I had to be in the area. Public parking-lot available at the door but shared with Woolies customers. When I made the reservation, I was unaware it was above a bar, bingo and slots (although it didnt really bother).

Location was great for why I was there but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay in the area. No separate entrance from the bar / public bar was awkward walking in like a tourist suitcase in hand, but have stayed in worse, especially in the USA whereby you literally put everything you owned against the door!

Room reminded me of a fancy hotel and the bed was the softest thing ever. the fr - Very nice facilities, staff were also nice and it was quiet and calm despite being above a very busy pub. Also liked the key car access to get to the room, made sure not anyone wandered thru shower flooded the bathroom when turned up but good overall

• Maan (8/5): Nice clean comfortable stay comming from hunter reagion thanks - All staff are excellent, smiling and helpful, nice environment, nice restaurant and services, relax for good beer, the room is clean, tgere was room cleaning second day, with new towels, fridge is cool with nice varieties but we didnt use any,, nice tv, plenty of car park outside,, aldi and woolworths and other shops are 1 minute walk, hotel prices are reasonable. Card opening the doors didn't work, but management solved the problem quickly, and second thing is the deposit taken, it seems this is normal practice these days, you get the whole deposit back when they check that no damage has been done to the room,,, but again they returned it after long 8 days after our check out. They should make prompt check and refund your money on the spot, l mean the guest could wait half an hour after check out so they could check and refund the deposit immediately.

• Tracy (7/5): A clean room, best for one night only not for extended trip. - The room was clean and quiet from the pub noise down stairs. Staff was lovely. Firstly bad area. No private parking felt unsafe going to our car. Some fights in the carpark during our stay. You had to check in through the pub. Pictures on the net were misleading. A credit card payment was required on check in. The blinds had a large gap either side so the room was very lit up at night, terrible for sleeping. And you couldn’t have blinds up. No privacy from street. Curtains would have been a better choice. The room was cold, no pictures on the wall and no characters, wasn’t very inviting. Jug was hard to fill due to the sink configuration. No rubbish liner. We will choose somewhere else next time. Nothing against the staff of course.

It would’ve been more convenient if the exit led directly to the parking area. Also, instead of taking a photo of my card, it would feel more secure and professional to have a reception area with a PC to handle payments properly
• Roach (9/5): B-E-A-Utiful - Rooms were very modern and up to standard. Bistro and bar were amazing. And being introduced to the hotel manager or receptionist for the hotel was very friendly and gave us a tour of the room. Not much to say about what I didn't like.

• Lorraine (8/5): We stayed one night and ate in the bistro which had excellent food at very reasonable prices. - It is very difficult to get water for the kettle. There should be operating instructions for the coffee machine and TV. Not everybody has a smart TV or a pod machine in their home. The main air conditioner was very noisy during the night. A lift to the rooms would be very helpful for elderly people or those with mobility issues.

It was beautiful and clean lovely facilities and when it was time for dinner went downstairs to the restaurant. The meals were sensational. Best we had for a long time. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there. The price for the room was excellent. We will go back and stay there again. We couldn’t find any fault with it
