Guest Reviews
- Paul (3/5): POOR SERVICE AND FOOD SMELL SPOIL NICE APARTMENT - The apartment is spacious, well equipped, and is situated near the centre of the historical town of Ghent.
The apartment living room is very dark as there are not enough lights, probably to minimise electricity bills, at the expense of the guests’ comfort.
The operator (HUSWELL) instructs guests not to heat the apartment higher than 23C. Again, a measure designed to cut costs at the expense of the guests’ comfort.
3 days into our 7-night stay, we noticed that the electric lock of the entrance door to the building did not function anymore. This meant that anyone could just enter the building. In an area where there are many restaurants, bars and cafés this is an obvious security risk. I immediately informed HUSWELL, the operator. Instead of sending a technician to fix the problem, they asked me, a guest!, to make videos of the lock. I explained them again that the electric lock did not function, but they kept insisting on receiving videos. Only after I sent videos did they send a technician to fix the lock! Have they any clue of building management that they need to receive videos of an electric lock that is not functioning ? As soon as you enter the building there is a strong food smell emanating from the restaurant named Pain Perdu on the ground floor. This smell is constant and infiltrates into the apartment, especially in the toilet and bathroom.
The stairs to the apartments are very steep, narrow and curved. We struggled to get our suitcases up and down the stairs. In case you have a pram or large suitcase, or struggle with stairs, this place is not for you.
In the street just below the apartment are many bars and terraces. These terraces stay open until early morning which means that there is constant noise entering the apartment well into the night. If you are a light sleeper, this place is not for you.
There are no shelves or supports on the walls of the shower. Soap, shampoo, and the like must be left on the floor. Is it too expensive to fix a soap and shampoo holder to the wall ?
The kitchen is well equipped but there are no glasses for water and no coffee mugs. The only glasses present are for wine and champagne. We noticed that many glasses were dusty and had not been cleaned for weeks.
Even though we had booked a 7-night stay, we were provided with only 1 set of towels and 1 set of bed linen. A towel or linen change has to be paid for. This practice reminds me of budget airlines who charge for anything extra to maximise profits. This practice is in my view not appropriate for high-priced apartment rentals.
Last but not least : if you are a business traveller like me, be aware that the operator refuses to issue a tax invoice, even though the local fiscal rules and Booking.com’s rules require this. They only give you a receipt, which means that VAT cannot be deducted.
- Chari Mara (8/5): Fantastisch - Prachtig appartement midden in Gent. Fantastisch gelegen, heerlijk ruim.
- Joeke (10/5): Perfect location, beautiful accomodation & great communication - True as depicted on the photos; stunning place!
- Che (9/5): Wonderful - The location is easily accessible to the coty centre. A lot of stores near the place.
- Ping (10/5): Fantastic place and highly recommend. - Stunning designed apartment with full equipped kitchen and huge space. No washing machine equipped.
- Jean-paul (5/5): Would have been very good if it wasn’t spoiled by lack of heating and hot water being ignored by the management team. - Good location, impressive apartment, Although nice apartment with a high rental fee, the management was poor. There was no heating, no hot water, bin access restricted and lid mechanism failing. No emergency contact. Instructions to deal with heating was inaccurate. Communication restricted to email with poor response generally in middle of night. Despite sending photographs and multiple emails no help was arranged.
- Jean-paul (9/5): Superb -
- Alina (8/5): Very good - Apartment clin
- Fiona (10/5): A wonderful apartment in a cool part of Ghent. Everything was close by and we would definitely go back - This characterful apartment is in an excellent location - cafes, bakery, shops close by on a vibrant street. No noise at night. We loved its bright spacious interior in which had everything we needed for comfort and for eating in occasionally. It’s clear that the management of the property is very professional. Good instructions on arrival re access. We loved it all. No complaints. We were a bit surprised at added costs for late arrival and departure times but fortunately we were able to work around that and didn’t incur extra charges.
- Amber (6/5): The apartment is lovely. The problem is the management company. The electric door lock wasn’t working so we needed a key - Spacious, simple, new, clean apartment. The restaurant downstairs is excellent. The location is perfect for being in the heart of the city. The management company. The minimalist decor is a little too minimal. Could use a full length mirror, a couple extra pillows on the bed, a wash cloth…
- Klara (8/5): Very good - Nice and new Noise from the outside door, no lift(difficult with luggage), no washing mashine
