Guest Reviews
- Tammy (10/5): - Location was excellent - Wollombi is a lovely place.
Jane was lovely and very accommodating.
- Bernadette (10/5): - Great location to the wedding we attended. Comfortable and clean and a lovely hostess Loved it all!
- CHRISTINE (9/5): Would definitely revisit - I loved the old style cabin/barn including furnishings. It was like stepping back in time. Walking distance to village It was extremely hot and air conditioning was only upstairs. Also there was no guest wifi
- Mary (9/5): Romantic, cute and great location - Location and tea coffee pool area appliances hot shower books - owners so helpful No pen
- Jan (10/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): Attended Family Wedding and Capers Cottage and The Boiler House were conveniently located and the owners , Jane & Mi - Location, pool, comfortable beds, country cottage.
- Ann (9/5): -
- Emily (7/5): - My husband and I first stayed at Boiling Billy Barn in 2020 when we had just started dating and absolutely loved it. Five years later, as newlyweds, we were excited to return. While the barn itself remains a lovely place to stay, our overall experience didn’t quite match our first visit.
We booked (and paid for) the option including breakfast, only to be told after confirmation that breakfast was not included, which was confusing given the booking options. On arrival, the barn was unlocked as advised, but the keys were meant to be in the electricity box - something we had to locate ourselves with no instructions. When the keys weren’t there, I texted Jane but didn’t receive a response. Fortunately, a friend of hers was able to help us track them down. While Wollombi is a safe area, clearer instructions would have been appreciated so we could secure our belongings.
We were also looking forward to using the fireplace again, but only one log of firewood was provided, which resulted in us having to source more ourselves. My husband ended up coming across more firewood whilst taking a walk around the premises - but again, guidance would have been nice.
Lastly, there was inconsistency around checkout time. Our booking confirmation stated 10:30am, the welcome guide said 11am, and yet cleaning staff arrived at 10am, expecting us to have already checked out. I later found that a text Jane had sent me the day before checking into the barn, which mentioned the check out time of 10am - however, consistency with our booking confirmation which we studied ahead of time, would have been nice.
Overall, we still enjoyed our stay, but it felt as though the barn wasn’t quite prepared for our arrival. Given we were paying holiday-period rates, we would have expected a more seamless and attentive hosting experience.
- Albert (8/5): - Wat een leuke plek om te zitten 👍

- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (10/5): Home away from home - Fantastic stay. Feels like you walk into family home. We loved it . Breakfast superb thanyou Jayne for the wonderful stay.
- Misty (4/5): Very overpriced. - It had a pool and close to cafe and amenities. Apparently the rain water from the tank was unfiltered for drinking. It was very dusty which set off allergies.
The couch was very uncomfortable. There was no air freshener in the toilet and the whole place would sometimes smell like the toilet.
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Lovely, relaxing stay, house was amazing, pool was great. Will definitely stay again soon. Thanks again. - Owners were lovely showing us around the property ect. The property was so relaxing and comfortable and the pool was great. Very close accomodation for a family wedding. Will definitely stay again soon. N/a
- Georgina (10/5): An Idyllic Country Cottage. - The hosts, the aesthetics, the facilities, the comfy beds, the provisions, the privacy, the verandahs, the garden, the furnishings, the spaciousness and ambience throughout the cottage. The wood and the cosiness, as well as the fans and the air-conditioning.
A truly exceptional property. Ten out of ten stars.
- Lynne (9/5): We had a great 2 nights chilling at The Barn during a hectic touring schedule - Beautiful characterful barn in the very peaceful heritage village of Woolombi. Lovely outdoor sitting area and access to a swimming pool. Village shop, bar etc all within easy walking distance.
Generous welcome pack to cook own breakfast. Cooking facilities consisted of an electric frying pan and a microwave.

- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect, cottage was comfortable and the fire was the best. That we couldn't stay longer.
- Cullen-blissett (9/5): Superb - Amazing homey feel with staff that go above and beyond The stairs are steep and narrow, harder for a bigger person to comfortably walk up and down
- Jason (8/5): Cosy if you like barn style accommodation - Old barn style property fitted with period furniture Located on Wollombi Road, road noise during day was loud but at night it was good. Not a fan of the bathroom being carpeted! Was odd not having floor tiles at the toilet and bathroom in general
- Dirk (8/5): Boiling billy barn - We had a good stay. The cottage is in a good location for what we needed. It is clean, rustic and comfortable with firewood and firemaking tools provided. Lots of mosquitos. We had a rat/mouse chew on a phone charger cables and also droppings so I think there is one resident or an opening.
- Mark (9/5): Very friendly host and a comfy and unique barn. Very well located and close to the centre. - Breakfast had everything we needed
The mushrooms looked beautiful but we left them for the host. We did not have a spatula to lift our fried eggs but managed with the tongs.
- Nikita (10/5): Beautiful, bush land and place. Loved the country vibes - The love for hospitality Nothing it was perfect
- Danielle (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): The most relaxing and comfortable weekend away! - Jane & Michael were the most wonderful hosts and we loved our time at Capers Cottage. The town of Wollombi is small but full of character and we felt very welcome in every store, cafe and restaurant. We will definitely be returning to Wollombi for a second visit soon.
- Tiarne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Great location and facilities with lovely hosts. - Great location and facilities with lovely hosts.
- Peter (7/5): Good - I cannot comment on the stay a Capers Cottage as we did not stay in the cottage, we were asked if we would stay in the guest house due to a neighbours house being destroyed by fire and they were staying in the cottage until they can be rehoused.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Fabulous stay at the billy barn cottage. The pool was a bonus! Plus breakfast options. - The location and facilities!
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Like stepping back in time. Very relaxing - Host so welcoming and helpful. Host took time to assist with TV and lighting fire in fire place and also providing general information about local facilities. Breakfast left in fridge amazing, Swimming pool such a bonus. No phone reception due to my provider
- Nicolas (9/5): An great place for a quiet weekend away - The accomodation was very well appointed, in a great spot, easy parking, 3 good sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
The breakfast platter and BBQ made mornings easy. The hosts were very accomodating and helpful. I had no phone reception, and the cottage was out of range of the WiFi - but this made for a relaxing weekend.
No other complaints.
