Guest Reviews
- Felicitas (9/5): We would definitely come back - It is a nice house in a beautiful neighborhood!
- Liren (9/5): Superb - The area surrounding the house is nice and quiet, and also within reasonable distance to UBC and lots of scenery spots worth visiting. Compared to another B&B style property I've stayed at that's a few minutes away, this house itself is very well-maintained. The bathroom next to your bedroom is pretty much just for your own use. Thumbs up for the comfort of the bed and a great selection of TV channels. The AC could use some upgrade. The table and cabinet in the room are a little too small.
- Grayson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gordana (10/5): Best part of Vancouver - We had a wonderful stay at this property in Shaughnessy, Vancouver. The home is nestled in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood that feels like a peaceful retreat in the city. It’s just a short drive or walk to Kerrisdale’s charming restaurants, the boutiques of South Granville, and the stunning VanDusen Botanical Garden. The area is safe, serene, and beautifully maintained—perfect for anyone looking to enjoy the best of Vancouver while staying in a tranquil setting. Highly recommended!
- Daly (10/5): A peaceful stay in a wonderful property - The property was incredible - it was perfectly clean and quiet there. The perfect relaxing break.
- Dongyang (10/5): Highly recommend! Good value for money - The place is in a very green and quiet neighbourhood. Bus stop is very close by. The owners are very responsive over booking :) It takes ~30mins to go to downtown by bus, and one may need to wait for ~20mins for the bus to come.
- Phil (8/5): Very good - Excellent bus connections very close by.
Very quiet.
Comfortable bed.
Excellent bathroom.
- Canitz (7/5): OK place to visit. Room was good. - clean, quiet neighbour hood. $50 cleaning fee seemed unnecessary, no people contact - felt cold and impersonal with no people contact.
- Hitoshi (5/5): Dissapointing! - No.1; I expected a good comunication with an owner or staff. However, I could not see anyone.
No..2 It was very tough to bring my big laggages to the 3rd. floor.
No.3. I could not use a coffee maker in my room.
No.4 I expected a continental style breakfast. I had to go to the convenience store to buy food. I needed such information.
- Susannah (7/5): Good - The neighborhood was beautiful, and the house was gorgeous. The water is very hot for the shower and the bed was wonderful. The hosts are friendly, though I never actually saw them. The house echos and so it is easy to be disturbed by other people coming in/out, or having conversations. The room was not as nice as others in the house. The bathroom/shower one space does mean you must walk in to use the toilet with rubber house slippers.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Drane (8/5): Very good - The room was comfy and good size, like the unsuited bathroom. The initial double booking by the staff and the hassel and unconvince with all that. Also, the next morning the groundskeepers out mowing so early.
- Josh (8/5): Well appointed rooms in suburban setting - Well appointed rooms in a leafy suburb only a short bus ride to downtown. The hosts communicated access instructions well prior to arrival. It is essentially a remotely operated property. All access is coordinated by PIN codes and the very large house has paper signage stuck to the walls with instructions. While the hosts were contactable, we never interacted with anyone in person. This system was never really explained and it was weird having the downstairs of the house (dining room, lounge and kitchen) out of bounds to guests but still setup. As a result it wasn’t a particularly welcoming environment.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - The neighborhood was lovely. House and room were very nice. Quiet and comfortable.
- Franklin (4/5): Good price but I was not informed of what was not available. - nice property Very low ceiling, no towels and I could hear the people above me talking late at night.
- W (9/5): Superb -
- Ryutaro (9/5): Superb -
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): Peaceful, convenient and good value - Lovely quiet location close to airport and city centre, perfect for our 1 night stay over before travelling back to the UK. Nothing!
- Niloufar (9/5): Superb - The room was very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided, such as a private bathroom, slippers, different types of paper tissues, and clean towels. The facilities were great, and we had a pleasant and hassle-free stay.
- Rini (7/5): Good -
- Barbara (10/5): Peaceful , fantastic - Beautiful place quiet private exceptional
- Linda (5/5): Passable - Beautiful home. Very helpful manager /owner. -Over 65s carry suitcases up 3 flights of stairs.
-beautiful kitchen but not allowed to use anything other than the jug and microwave. No utensils or plates.
- Kyungsook (9/5): Loved the clean and comfortable place. I would stay again if I return to Vancouver. - It is very clean and in good quiet neighborhood. Self check-in. A bit tricky opening the door.
- Pietro (10/5): Highly recommend - Beautiful house, nice room, extremely clean Everything was on point
- Chen (9/5): Superb - It doesn’t provide free Wi-Fi. It’s really inconvenient for me. But it was my fault for I didn’t notice that.
- Govind (9/5): Comfortable stay in a peaceful location - Tranquil setting, scrupulously clean. Would definitely return. Easy enough to get downtown. Essential amenities provided (shampoo etc) without making the room feel cluttered. Useful desk space too. A lot of thought has been put into providing exactly what travellers need. It looked like I had been provided the room with garden view, which was appreciated. Strong smell in the room - not sure if this was cleaning products or something else . Was able to open the window though.
- San (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abeer (9/5): Location and quiet neighbourhood. Everything was professionally managed - Location and quiet neighbourhood. Everything was professionally managed.
- Randy (4/5): Disappointing -
- Polina (7/5): Good - The house is gorgeous, the room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities. The instructions were clear, so both the check-in experience and the overall stay went smoothly. The location isn't very central but if you don't mind taking a bus to downtown, it's definitely worth the money. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I should have paid more attention to the photos, but the biggest issue at this location was the bathroom, specifically the shower. It was positioned directly over the toilet bowl, so after taking a shower, everything around it gets wet. I'm not sure how the next person could comfortably use the space afterward. The water pressure and temperature were also poor, which discouraged me even further from using it. If you're planning a longer stay, or you prefer taking showers every day, I certainly recommend booking a room with a private bathroom that includes a proper shower or bathtub.
- Jason (10/5): It was quiet and relaxing loved it. - Loved the quietness, it had everything that we needed.
- Marie (10/5): Excellent stay. Highly recommend! - A beautiful property in a nice area. VERY comfortable bed with extra pillows! Very clean. Great water pressure in the shower. Easy check in. Nothing. I literally don't have a bad thing to say.
- Greg (10/5): Very nice suite and exceptional feedback from owner. Would highly recommend - As advertised Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Simple and easy. - Comfy, clean Low ceiling. My head hit doorways.
- Yassine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (6/5): Pleasant - Cleanliness. Quiet. No host, thus no hospitality, VERY IMPERSONAL.Small things that could easily have been provided were not available. The boat type toilet/sink/shower should have had a boat type squeegee. There was no luggage rack in the room. Nor was there any kind of comfortable chair in our bedroom, which actually was a converted den/library. It was a disappointing stay, especially since it was a beautiful property and probably had an interesting history.
- Pamela (8/5): Nice and quiet - The property is in a very nice neighbourhood. The interior set up was very neat and tidy. Most importantly quiet! To lug up the stairs at the front door and then to lug up again another flight of stairs to the room.
The room was not aired well beforehand hence a musty odor was present. But rectified immediately after informing owner.
- Kevin (7/5): Good -
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Great house, great area (quiet and safe). Easy to get into Downtown Vancouver. - Had to supply own food for meals but full kitchen available. Could do with providing English Breakfast tea - not just fruit teas. Lack of English breakfast tea bags!
Loved the room we stayed in first off - Rm2.
Stayed in Rm 8 -basement. Not so comfortable - quite claustrophobic and we were quite concerned about getting out from that room if there was a fire. No clear exits.
- Donna (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Really good security, and beautiful neighbourhood. Great kitchen with kpod coffee ready to go The bathroom was very small
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alyssa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (9/5): Comfortable stay in a quiet, lovely neighbourhood - Quiet, clean and well equipped. Lovely neighbourhood.
- Philip (9/5): excellent accomodation....no information! - we loved our room and the facilities that came with it...in fact it was outstanding we had no face to face contact with our host. no information left in room about Vancouver city .. transportation to centre, we had to find out for ourselves. the room was far too hot!
- Gabriel (1/5): The room is a cave - near public transportation Huge disappointment.
Lots of nice pictures on the website but I guess the ''economy double room'' was purposely left out as it was in a basement with a tiny window and a ceiling lower than 1.80m (5ft10). The shower head was at the height of my chin and I'm 1m80. The room could fit the bed but there was no way to lay open our 2 luggages. The host was responsive but of no help (offered to reimburse 50$ in cash but never came), and didn't seem so surprised when told the room didn't live up to our expectations. I do not recommend this room to people who are slightly claustrophobic.
Cherry on top, the toilet bowl was dirty when we arrived.
- Monrat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michele (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed, beautiful house on a gorgeous street. Quiet, private, and secure.
I felt safe and comfortable.
Nice set up for watching TV, eating a quick meal, and providing plenty of space for organizing luggage, stretching, and yoga in privacy of the room.
Coffee maker in the room is nice, good quality nespresso. I enjoyed my 2 nice hot cups of espresso.
Pretty view of the front yard and street landscape.
Bright and airy, when the big windows were opened, the room was a fantastic, spacious ,private, and serene place to relax and prepare for the journey ahead.
The entrance was clean .
Instructions were clear, and security is a priority.
Host provided directions for public transit. The host answered my questions directly. However, some areas were disappointing.
The bathroom was dirty upon arrival, I used the canister of wipes left on the counter to clean the countertop, toilet, and most surfaces in the room. Once I noticed the state of the bathroom facilities, I didn't feel that any area in the room may have been cleaned properly. It left me with a yucky feeling.
I wiped everything, and yes, the table tops in the bedroom also had visible debris.
Glass showerwalls were visibly dirty it was more than waterspots, as were the sinks and vanity top.
Also, there were no face cloths, which would have been appreciated after a long day of traveling.
Towels were ascew , I wasn't sure if they had been used either, actually.
Basically, sorry to say the beautiful bathroom was messy.
There was no top sheet available for the bed. Only a duvet. I was ensured it was clean after asking twice over the course of 2 hours for a sheet.
But I prefer a lighter blanket and a sheet during the night.
The sheets and pillow cases on the bed did not appear clean.
Wrinkled and not white anymore.
Also, a water glass would have been appreciated in the room.
Several coffee mugs were on the bathroom countertop.
I didn't know if they were clean to use given their location.
I was looking forward to walking out to the beautiful yard in the morning with my coffee as described, but as per the note taped on the glass door to the back yard, you need to go out of the front door and down the driveway and around the house to enter the back.
It's not as described in the booking. It's a bit disappointing, that's all.
The several paper notes with rules and instructions taped to the walls, doors, and windows throughout the beautiful home did not help to provide a sense of welcome or make the experience cozy in any way.
A simple booklet to read would serve the purpose in a much more positive and welcome way.
- Cara (8/5): Lovely! - Lovely clean spacious room! I was worried what it would be like in a house share but it was brilliant! Like a hotel but better! The only downside of our stay was the radiator was stuck on full blast so made for a warm night, tried to counter act it with the aircon and windows. Think it was just unfortunate, other than that it was great!
- Elizabeth (10/5): We will stay another time when we go back to Vancouver . - Beautiful location.
Very quiet.
Room was lovely
- Ross (9/5): Superb -
- Leonardo (10/5): Perfect for restful nights - The house and room are beautiful and spotless. The bed is very comfortable. The area is very quiet and has easy access to public transportation.
- Mayowa (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean. Quiet environment
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (10/5): Shaughnessy Cozy Guesthouse - Lovely guesthouse in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. Beautiful landscaping with spring flowers and trees blooming. Secure home and room via keypad. Contactless check in but host kept in touch with messages. Very comfortable bed and great pillows. Extremely clean and well appointed, with coffee maker, refrigerator, tv, closet space. I enjoyed my stay here very much. It took me awhile to figure out how the shower worked, but I finally did. Perhaps put a sign of instruction there.
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- Annette (7/5): Comfortable if sterile room in an OK location - Very comfortable and clean Sterile environment. It felt like we were breaking into someone’s house as we only used one room upstairs while the rest of the house seemed to be being used by the owners family.
The location is a real compromise, giving more space than downtown but at the cost of a 30 minute bus ride. Busses are always available so it’s not an issue.
- Stephanie (10/5): quiet sanctuary in beautiful Shaughnessy - Beautiful home with a traditional garden of mature trees - magnolia and camellia all in bloom when we visited. The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. Everything was impeccably clean.
- Beatriz (10/5): Excellent room. - Very comfortable and clean. Everthing was good.
- Chingyao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - Great tidy house. Good location very close to bus routes and a short walk to shops.
- Shi (9/5): We had a smooth and lovely stay, thank you - Location and cozy room for small family Not really
- Julie (6/5): It met our needs😀 - We didn’t have breakfSt DRk basement flat
- Maryna (10/5): Perfect stay - Everything was really on a top! Susan is so helpful and really worried about her guests A little bit small room, but it's ok
- Thomas (7/5): Great location - Location was great. Local shops and restaurants and not too far but still outside the city. Low ceiling in the basement - they do warn you when booking which we missed, if you're over 6ft you will be ducking the entire time inside.
- Sergii (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Torrijos (9/5): Superb -
- Indra (8/5): Great stay. Beautiful home, very clean, nice area. - Recommend:
1) Improve WIFI - connection kept constantly dropping. Also needed to log in remotely to my office at 9:30-10:00pm. The connection was so bad, had to drive 45 minutes to the office.
2) Area to use in case of the need to login to work - could not use the room, didn’t want to disturb the other members in the room. All other areas of the house, living room, dining room etc were empty but was not available to guests.
- Julie (7/5): It met our needs - Didn’t have one There are no windows
- Brittany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dewi (7/5): Affordable nice place to stay in Vancouver just out of the city centre. - Its in a safe neighbourhood and close to the botanic garden. Nice property and easy to find. Its nice to have access to the kitchen. All was good. The basement room that I had has a very low ceiling. for me no problem because im only 1,62 cm. If you are tall you want to make sure you take one of the other rooms.
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy, Comfy, and Just What I Needed!
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
I had such a great time here! If you’re looking for a peaceful, comfy spot that’s still close to all the action in Vancouver, this is the place to be. The guest house is located in the beautiful Shaughnessy neighborhood—one of the most desirable areas in the city. It's quiet, safe, and full of charm, with stunning houses and tree-lined streets. If you’re lucky enough to visit in the spring, you’ll be treated to the most breathtaking cherry blossoms (sakura) in full bloom, adding a bit of magic to your stay. it is also close to RICHMOND, where there are good food and we travel twice a day to enjoy brunch and dinner. NO41 is 15 minuts walk and also have lots of good ramen restaurant.
The room itself was exactly what I needed—super clean, cozy, and with just the right amount of “homey” vibes. The bed was like a cloud, and the linens felt like they were straight out of a luxury hotel (yes, I had that moment of “I might never leave”). The private bathroom was spotless, too—honestly, I’ve stayed in places with bathrooms that didn’t look this good when they were brand new.
Susan, the host, is an absolute gem. She made sure everything was perfect. There’s also a shared kitchen, which was great for making breakfast (or pretending you’re a chef when you’re just boiling eggs—don’t judge).
If you need a place to chill after a busy day of exploring, the garden and common areas are perfect for just kicking back. The whole vibe of the guest house is welcoming and relaxing.
All in all, I’d absolutely recommend. It’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve found a hidden gem, and I can’t wait to stay again next time I’m in Vancouver.
- Wendell (8/5): We enjoyed it! - The house is spacious, room for everyone, in a very pretty neighbourhood, and very quiet. Kitchen, dining area, common living room - all very good. Our room on the 3rd floor did not have a window one could look through, but we missed noting that when we reserved the room. Otherwise the whole experience was very good, we'd come here again, we did enjoy it.
- Cristine (9/5): Fabulous room among tree tops in gorgeous area. - Beautiful, quiet room amidst the tree tops. A little sitting room with Kuerig and fridge. Lovely area with parking. Bedding, towels and toiletries were high quality. Heated, bidet style toilet. Amazing shower. Residential area so not close to coffee shops.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Close to places we want to go. Low ceiling
- Anies (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean, comfortable, friendly and in a great location. Highly recommended. We wished that there was a grocery store near by and that we could cook a proper meal.
- Ann (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful home. Comfortable bed with a sumptuous duvet and great shower. - Beautiful home in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood, close to public transportation. I loved my room, with windows on two sides, a comfortable bed with a sumptuous duvet and great shower. If it would be possible to use the stove and oven, that would be ideal, but I can appreciate that that might introduce other complications.
- Aguinaldo (8/5): it was good stay - bed is comfy its just having some trouble opening the main door and the gate latch, and also wifi was only connected only 1 device, TV no internet as well
- Laura (8/5): Good stay. - Clean room, nice bed and good bus connection to gastown. Susan was friendly. I could easily ask Susan some questions via the Booking.com chat. It was super nice that we could use the washing machine. There was no window in the room. I didn't know this when booking. This made it less pleasant to stay in the room longer if you wanted to eat or relax for example.
- Lachlan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (10/5): Great place to stay! - Super comfortable, common areas are very equipped, and we loved the neighborhood.
The instructions were very clear, and the hostess was super kind and nice.
Beautiful place that makes you feel at home.
- Gaia (10/5): Our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and cosy and the area felt safe and was easily accessible - This guest house was fantastic. The area was safe, there were locks on all the doors. The house was beautiful and our room was spotless. The room had a tv and it felt very cosy. We really recommend staying here! Honestly nothing. We had an amazing time and the value for money was great! Maybe a few recommendations of where to eat/visit in Vancouver would have been useful!
- Pia (8/5): Very good -
- Danylchuk (10/5): Very comfortable - Beautiful location
- Anto (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and clean. Nice location.
- Halfrunner (10/5): Would stay at this lovely B&B again! - Spotlessly clean. Attention to detail. Lovely neighbourhood. Friendly owner. Would be challenging for a taller person.
- Peter (7/5): Good - Convenient location, quiet, comfortable. Light bulb in bathroom not working. Used coffee pod in coffee machine. Instruction to take our garbage with us was tacky. The cleaning fee was excessive.
The bedroom was sparsely furnished and small nd the bathroom was tight. But it was all adequate for our needs. We never saw anyone else there.
- Hung (10/5): Exceptional - Near to the metro, quiet and clean room, a nice and cozy place
- Linda (10/5): Quiet, very clean and reasonably priced. - We arrived later and it was already dark so could not see the mature landscape. Clear Instruction to access house and room. Quiet street with easy parking in front of house.
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (10/5): Exceptional - This traveler happened to arrive late in the evening. The instructions to enter the property were very clear and understood. I was very comfortable. I didn't like having to get up early to continue my journey. I would have liked to relax because this place is beautiful.
- Sophia (10/5): Beautiful property - It’s a beautiful property, very well maintained. The owners are lovely people. They were very kind and helpful. There’s a coffee machine and mini fridge in the room which is very convenient.
