- Riyaz Khan (8/5): - The location is great and Tom is a wonderful host. There’s comfortable space for a large family to stay and the free parking is an added bonus. It’s not a big negative but adding a lock to the bathrooms would be good.
- Nguyen (1/5): - Absolute Nightmare, Avoid at All Costs! I have traveled all around the world and stayed in hundreds of accommodations, from budget hostels to luxury villas, but I have never encountered such a terrible owner and such a disappointing property as this apartment near Lake Thun. This place is a complete disaster and should be avoided by anyone with basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, or common decency. From the moment we arrived, issues piled up. The apartment was filthy and outdated—clearly in desperate need of a deep clean and a full renovation. The “charming” photos on the listing are very misleading. Soon after checking in, the bathroom sink started leaking badly, leaving us unable to use it for the entire first night. The next evening, the shower door broke and water flooded everywhere. Dealing with these problems was exhausting. The owner’s attitude made everything infinitely worse. When I politely mentioned we didn’t have enough shampoo, he rudely told me to “go to the store and buy it myself.” He was stingy and unhelpful throughout. We were given only one towel per person with no hand towels at all. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the pillows and sheets had a strong, unpleasant smell that made sleeping difficult. To top it off, the listing falsely advertised a washer and dryer included. The owner demanded 5 Swiss Francs per load. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. The combination of a dirty, broken-down apartment and an extremely rude, unaccommodating owner ruined our stay. Save yourself the headache and money — look elsewhere for your Lake Thun accommodation. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Thank you Tom for hosting us. - Location is perfect with such a nice view of lake in the front and a bit of snow covered mountains from the balcony. Tom is really nice guy and explained everything in detail while handing the property keys. I was in double mind when I was booking this property due to some negative reviews i found but after meeting Tom all my doubts were cleared. Previous guests complained about the house rules but Tom only explained how to use the kitchen equipment and other things in the property he didn't mentioned about any rules. He only reminded us about the noise after 10:00 pm which I am sure any sensible person will understand and no one will want to make after the exhaustive day. The location is a great connecting place if you want to make full use of your 3 or 4 day pass. The bus 60 runs from outside the property and it can be reached easily from Thun or Speiz or Interlaken Ost but only downside is it runs every 1 hour so plan your trip accordingly to take connecting trips. Interlaken Ost is just 10 mins by bus and Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald is just 20 to 25 mins away from Interlaken Ost. I am sharing my Itinerary so if someone staying at this property can make full use of the Swiss pass(Pass is highly recommended as it covers most of the Gondola and cable cars). We took bus 60 on the morning of 07th of April 2026 at 9:56 am from outside the property (bus stop is just 3 min walk) and went to Interlaken Ost. From Interlaken Ost we took train to Lauterbrunnen and from there we took cable car to Murren (highly recommended) which has such nice views. From Murren we took another cable car to Gimmelwald and the came back to Lauterbrunnen to see Stauchbach fall, then went to Grindelwald and then came back via Interlaken Ost to our property in Darligen around 9:00 pm. There is nothing which I didn't liked but if there would have been one more toilet then it would have been more convenient as the property have just 1 toilet but at least have 2 shower room. Apart from it there is nothing to complain about, it is a beautiful property.

If the host is renting the property he should learn to trust them and not check Infront of them before they leave. This is very bad behavior and I will not recommend this place for anyone to stay.

- STEPHEN (9/5): We had a wonderful stay at Berner Oberland Am Thunersee. - The location was perfect overlooking the Lake Thun. The house was quaint but quite roomy. The house was close to the bus stop which was very convenient. The host Tom was very helpful in giving us directions and tips to the tourist locations and eateries. He also gave us a ride to the grocery store which was very kind of him. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds were a little uncomfortable. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.

- Julio (7/5): No need to pay extra money for late arrival. - It is located in a quiet village close to Interlaken. The house is ok, correctly furbished. 1) The house has two floors and the occupiers in the upper floor were noisy. This is very disturbing especially in the night. 2) The owner requested additional 50CHF for expected late arrival (after midnight). We actually arrived shortly before midnight and he still requested the amount, even though he did not need to wait for us as he left the key in a box protected with a code he shared with us. We did not appreciate this behavior at all and we warn future users for this: there is no need to pay any extra money for possible late arrival.

- Héctor (10/5): Peaceful Stay Near the Lake with Amazing Host - The owner is a very kind person. Even when we made some noise by mistake, he handled everything professionally. We apologized, and everything quickly went back to normal. That’s why it’s important to keep your voice down and avoid making noise after 10 pm. It’s a super peaceful place with wonderful neighbors—we even made great friends and had a unique experience by the lake, which is just a few seconds away on foot. I highly recommend staying here and using either a rental car or the train to get to Interlaken. It’s absolutely worth it—we had an amazing time! I wish we could have stayed longer.

- Kumar (1/5): Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended - Our check-in experience was frustrating and unwelcoming. We had informed the host in advance that we would arrive around 10:00 PM, but due to a serious accident on the highway, we were delayed by approximately 40 minutes. Despite promptly notifying the host about the delay, he was extremely rude upon our arrival. Instead of using the available key lockbox and allowing a smooth, contactless check-in, the host insisted on waiting solely to verify how many people were arriving. He appeared to suspect us of bringing a larger group than booked, which was simply not true. His approach was confrontational from the beginning—he strictly lectured us on a long list of rules in an unpleasant tone, rather than sharing a standard house rules document as most hosts would. This behavior set a very negative tone and completely ruined our first night. We were so uncomfortable that we contacted Booking.com to request cancellation and a refund. While Booking.com was supportive and willing to compensate us, we unfortunately couldn’t find another place to stay at that hour, so we had no choice but to remain. Throughout the stay, the host continued to make us feel uneasy by ringing the doorbell and issuing more warnings about rules. It felt more like being monitored by a landlord than staying in a vacation rental. On top of that, he charged us an additional €78 for city tax, which was not clearly communicated upfront. Overall, it was a horrible experience. We strongly advise others not to book this property if you value respectful communication and a relaxed, comfortable stay. - Kumar (1/5): Unpleasant Stay – Would Not Recommend - Our experience started off on the wrong foot. We had informed the host in advance that we would be arriving around 10:00 PM. Unfortunately, a major traffic accident on the highway caused a 40-minute delay, and we immediately updated the host about the situation. Despite this, his response was unwelcoming and harsh. Rather than using the key lockbox provided for a smooth check-in, the host waited for us outside, seemingly only to confirm how many people were arriving. He appeared suspicious, wrongly assuming we might be bringing more guests than we had booked for. Upon arrival, instead of offering a warm welcome, he began listing a strict set of rules in a stern and controlling manner. It felt more like being lectured by a landlord than welcomed by a host. A simple printed house rules document would have been more appropriate. This interaction left us feeling uneasy and ruined the start of our trip. We even contacted Booking.com to report the incident and request a cancellation. While Booking.com was very cooperative and offered compensation, we couldn’t find alternative accommodation late at night and had no option but to stay. Unfortunately, the discomfort didn’t end there. The host continued to interrupt our stay by ringing the doorbell and reminding us of more rules. This constant monitoring made us feel extremely uncomfortable. He also charged an additional €78 for city tax, which had not been clearly mentioned in advance. Overall, the entire experience was stressful and far from what we expected. If you’re looking for a peaceful and respectful stay, I would advise avoiding this property. - Ashley (9/5): Beautiful Place and Friendly Owner - The place was a few minutes drive way from Interlaken we love this place because it wasn't as busy as Interlaken it was quiet, cosy and nice. Front the view was a lake you can a take a evening breezy walk at the lake facing the view of harder kulm. at the back of the house is a beautiful mountain view. they have two restaurant around this area. facilities was great very convinient to park car. and of course not forgetting it was our 9th wedding anniversary and the owner woved with a marvelous and finger licking good cake. Thanks Tom for ur warm hospitality and friendly gesture. we love every bit of your place. keep it going.

No washing machine and dryer. Had to pay separately to the owner for the washing facilties and lack of kithen items, and also one bathroom lack of privacy due to the see-through glass.

First impression is last impression .. we travelled from Germany .. all networks in mobile are closed in Switzerland so we dont contact with owner ... we reached bit early. I am with my guests from Pakistan . House is open we wait 10 minutes outside. Also rings the bell but nobody come out so the kids ran inside the house . After 1 minute owner came out & shouted on us badly which is enough.. Very bad 1st impression.. kids afraid guest also horrified 😖... After all this mess owner came & sorry but everyone is afraid ..

- Thu (1/5): Very dissapointed experience - The apt is clean and accommodated. The host was kind at the beginning and responsive when there was a problem with the toilet but then he had to fixed his toilet cause the toiletsink was plugged up, then he became agressive and put all of that on us. So no more kind and good host. The apt was accomodated but the quality of some of the facilities is not good. 1. The matelas of the beds are not good quality. On the double bed, it was noisy once one of us changed the position and waked up the other. My husband waked up at 4 a.m 2 nights/3 that we stayed there and could not slept back. 2. The bunk bed is not secured for children for the second layer doesn't has a barrier. My daughted fell off the bed in the middle of the night and got hurt in the back. 3. One of the room is quite small 4. The shower can leak water on the floor so we always have to pay attention when taking shower. 5. The toilet is the biggest problem as it was stuck 2 times durinh the 4 days we were there. At arriving Tom told us that the toilet could be stuck and there was that problem before. He said because of the people before us used too much toilet papers. Therefore we used the toilet always with caution and put all the toilet paper if urinaire into the rubbish bin. Despite our precaution, it was stucked right away the night of our 1st day and then again the night before our departure next morning. What makes me very shocked and dissapointed is the next day, Tom sent me a message that the toiletsink was plugged up and he has financial loss bexause of it, and it's all on us. This is his message : "I would like to inform you about the toilet situation in the apartment you stayed at: Only the toiletsink was completely plugged up.... The only possible people that have could cause that was your group/ family! I now opened up the wall and the floor behind the toilet.... broke it all off. The specialist/ plumber just shook his head and found absolutely everything in orden, but the plugged toiltsink..... As a matter of facts: I now have to get that all fixed, because of you.... I also will loose now the income of the coming days, until it's all fixed. Because of that matter, I will contact booking.com!

He is cheater and want to give the fault to me. Arrogant owner , the toilet was blocked after my 10 years old son used it and the owner made a big drama and attacked us verbally, he claimed that we put poison on it. And after that he want us to pay for everything.!!!!!! Cheater owner!!!!!!!

The location is perfect if you are here for the scenery of switzerland. You will be waking up every morning with the mountains and the water. It may be challenging for elderly or travellers with heavy luggages since there are steps.

Thun lake is very near and we can see it partially through windows. the bus that takes you to interlaken is near. stairs might not be suitable for elderly. no transportation cards were offered. only one toilet. yet there is another shower room

Great for families, hikers, friend groups etc. Train connection is within walking distance and the host is simply marvelous! - Anuar (8/5): Great experience and attentive host! TQ Tom! - Location is not bad actually. The property give a vibe of staying like a local. The surroundings, neighbourhood and walk-about is one of its kind, which is peaceful and comfortable. The scenery is exceptional. It is better to have own transportation or drive about to be able to get to nearby town/shop or restaurant. Evening onwards is pretty quiet within the neighbourhood, so evening onwards its more to settling down inside the property. However, the TV is not working so we really just chill and rest. - Dattatraya (5/5): Apart from heating issues, and intermittent WiFi issues, it was okay to live. - The location was not bad, quite close from bus stop and just few mins bus ride from Interlaken ost, great views of a lake when you are out and about, the room size was good and in general quite clean condition. The bed and mattress were comfy. There was NO heating, it was December and absolutely no heating anywhere inside and it was like a frozen cold inside, the host provided just a small heating fan which was not enough for the entire house. The WiFi used to stop working after 10pm which was quite annoying. There was no hanger for the shower so it was inconvenient to take a bath. The host was not very friendly and was rude at times (specially when we asked for extra garbage bag)

- Kavi (8/5): Very good - Great place, can easily access all other places around, next to Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. Tom was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend to refurbish the doors to rooms and bathroom. There are no locks to the bathroom doors and it is not convenient when you are travelling as a family.

- Vineet (9/5): Beautiful location , exceptional host and lovely facilities on offer - The accommodation was big especially the top floor and was comfortable for a family. Loved the facilities that Tom arranged and moved the host’s attitude towards making our stay comfortable. He spent good time to guide us where to go and those places were really worth visiting. The place had a lake opposite it and it’s an amazingly quiet way to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The top floor is much better than 1st floor - so try to ask for that. It can be disturbing if you are at 1sr floor and someone is also staying on second floor with kids and the sound does come their the floors

- Bruce (9/5): Tom is a great and helpful host. The apt is clean and well equipped. - Our host Tom was fabulous and very hands on. He provided toys and activities for our 3 yr old grandchild. He let her help him in the garden and play with the dog. The apt was very clean and tidy and the kitchen was very well equipped. The double bed and the 2 bunk beds would be very good for a family. The location was a bus ride away from any sort of grocery or commodities store. There is a little restaurant however across the street that serves very nice pizza and hamburgers Also the beach listed on google maps is not really a beach..just a little park with stair access to the lake. That is nice but just not ideal for little ones. .

- Ragoed (9/5): Grand appartement with a nice host. - The location was perfect to visit (nearby the highway) several sightseeings. There was free parking for our car in front of the appartement. The manager Tom was a very nice host and checking if everything was ok and if we needed something and had great suggestions for trips. The size of the appartement is good for a family of 5 of more. It was nice to have two bathrooms. Nothing
- Aiman (1/5): Nightmare - We arrive with 3 additional kids, the host gave us toys, pillow, and blanket for kids. The house located at 2nd floor and the host help us carry our bag. The view from the house is good. When we went out for site seeing, the host call us and informed us the house was flooded due to we didnt turn off the shower head. We had double check before we went out and we are very sure it is off. The host complaint to booking.com and request us to pay 2000CHF. This is suspicious and we call the police to investigate. When the police arrive, there is no sign of flood and there is still a dust on the toilet floor. This time host inform the police the house was flooded because we hang wet towel on the towel heater. I dont know how could a wet towel cause the house to flood and damage 2000CHF. The police ask us not to pay anything and leave to another hotel.
