• Joshua (8/5): My one night in Nice (and first visit) was made all the more special by staying at Hotel Gounod. - The location was superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully appointed and everything felt luxe and comfortable. The AC could have been stronger, and the hair dryer didn’t really work properly.
• Stephen (9/5): Overall a lovely hotel with just a few niggles that probably won’t happen again. - Beautifully presented and sympathetically restored, Hotel Gounod is a very special place to stay. Lovely terrace and large spacious room. Amazingly quiet with the doors and windows shut (the double glazing was some of the best I have ever experienced) and with a really convenient location in one of the nicest areas of Nice. Staff were all excellent and really tried their best with the one issue we had (see below) Frustratingly the air conditioning was stuck on ‘heating mode’ and whilst the heat could be turned off, we couldn’t get the cooling to work for three out of the four nights we were there. Fortunately the weather was not exceptionally hot, but it did mean that we needed to sleep with the terrace door open, which then meant there was quite a bit of traffic noise. We reported it to the staff (as did others on our floor) but it seems that nobody could work out how to fix it. An engineer was called who came and had a look, but then disappeared saying he’d be back in 10 minutes but we never saw him again! We sensed that the staff were trying their best, but for a 400 Euros per night hotel I wouldn’t have expected that to be such an unfixable problem. On the final night the air con was working, so that was great, but we woke up to no hot water in the bathroom. By that time I had run out of the energy to keep raising issues with reception and we were leaving that day so I didn’t mention it.

Easy to walk to beach and the train station. Rooms towards courtyard rooms are dark, we had a suite so bedroom was on the bright side, but living and bathroom were dark. Partner hotel has the pool and gym - it’s a bit inconvenient and that hotel appears worn.

• Aila (7/5): Insgesamt hatten wir einen schönen Aufenthalt. Dennoch würden wir uns wünschen, dass in Zukunft mehr auf solche Details - Das Hotel überzeugt vor allem durch seine hervorragende Lage – sowohl der Strand als auch die Stadt sind in wenigen Minuten bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist außerdem das sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, das stets bemüht war und den Aufenthalt angenehm gemacht hat. Leider gab es einige kleinere Mängel: Bereits am ersten Tag war das Shampoo im Zimmer fast leer, was vor der Anreise hätte überprüft werden sollen. Zudem befand sich bei unserer Ankunft nur ein Bademantel im Zimmer, obwohl wir zu zweit waren. Nach dem ersten Zimmerservice wurde dieser sogar entfernt, ohne dass ein neuer bereitgestellt wurde. Auch der Parkplatz ist mit 25 € pro Tag relativ teuer, und am Abreisetag muss man diesen bereits um 13 Uhr verlassen, was wir als unpraktisch empfunden haben.

• Giuseppe (9/5): Great boutique hotel but needs a restaurant - Great location to get around Nice. A lovely surprise was fresh flowers and macarons in my room. Breakfast excellent. Staff attentive. The only draw back is no restaurant which also means no room service. The hotel next door is ok but not ideal when you’re tired and don’t feel like going out.

• Johanna (9/5): Schönes Hotel mit hervorragender Lage - Das Hotel liegt hervorragend, sowohl der Strand als auch der Bahnhof sind fußläufig erreichbar. Es gibt zahlreiche Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Die Zimmer sind geräumig, modern und neu ausgestattet. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit unserem Zimmer. Das Frühstück war köstlich und wir fühlten uns sehr persönlich betreut. Unsere Wünsche, wie frischer Orangensaft und das sehr empfehlenswerte Rührei, wurden erfüllt. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Ein kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag: Haken für Jacken im Eingangsbereich des Zimmers oder mehr Bügel im Schrank wären wünschenswert. Das hatte aber keine Auswirkungen auf unseren Aufenthalt.

• Pettinger (10/5): Great location, lovely staff. - The hotel is located in a really great spot, walking distance from most places that you'd want to visit, whilst also being away from the main hustle and bustle of some parts of Nice. The staff are super welcoming. We arrived really early on our day to check in, and while our room wasn't ready (I wasn't expecting it to be as it was 9am) there was no issue in leaving our bags and then when it was ready (they told use roughly what time it would be ready) they had taken all of our stuff upstairs. Room was immaculate and the shower was great.

• Lily (10/5): Magical - Location is perfect, accessible 15 minutes each way to old town, train station, tram (by food). Beach Promenade is a 5 minutes walk. My room was beautiful and the staff extremely helpful! Couldn’t recommend more.
• Ekaterina (8/5): A pleasant stay overall, but better room lighting and clearer parking arrangements would improve the experience. - We stayed at the hotel as a couple for a short trip. Overall, the stay was pleasant and the hotel is comfortable after the renovation. The location is convenient and the atmosphere is calm, which made it a nice place to relax after a day in the city. The hotel looks modern and well maintained after the renovation. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were generally polite and helpful. The location is good for exploring the city and getting around easily. The room lacked lighting, especially in the evening, which made it a bit uncomfortable at times. Also, one of the reasons we chose this hotel was the private parking, but during our two-day stay we were only able to use it for one day. It would be helpful if the staff clarified during the Booking reservation or at check-in whether parking will actually be available.
