- Michael (3/5): OMG - Lage Eingang
Sicherheit
- Kelsie (9/5): Good value for money - Location Wasn’t very ‘peaceful’ but didn’t bother me
- Iwona (10/5): - Lokalizacja.
- Cecilia (8/5): -
- sigrid (6/5): Ideal für Städtetrip - Super Lage. Partymeile, 3 min Gehzeit bis Chinatown, Nähe der Lycester Station. 67 Stufen hoch bis zur Wohnung. Für mich ganz schön anstrengend.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Jamie (1/5): -
- Alexandre (8/5): - Emplacement ++++

- michelle (10/5): Brilliant location - Was perfect location right in the middle of Leicester square was clean stairs were OK for us but other's might find them hard but I would definitely stay again Heating was on but the rooms are very cold had alot of condensation on the windows and some mold in the bathroom and bedroom but was very clean and would definitely stay again the location is fantastic
- Emily (8/5): - Very good location, host has thought of every detail. Towels and flannels provided, even an iron and ironing board along with a hairdryer Too many stairs. I know this isn’t something you can fix though! Wouldn’t affect me staying again just means I get my steps in.
- Mohamed (10/5): - All
- Eilidh (8/5): - Lovely apartment and super central!
- Paul (1/5): DO NOT BOOK this place! - Absolutely nothing! DO NOT BOOK this place! You have to go past the Pub toilets to get access to your property. I had my Wife and teenage daughter with me on what was supposed to be a special trip. I was there less than 5 mins and about turned and booked somewhere else.
The property has as much charm as a prison cell! Stay clear!
- Miiros (5/5): Not a pleasant stay - The location is very central, as central as it can be in London. Very cold apartment, we had to sleep with clothes on. Clean in bathroom and kitchen but the floor hasn't seen a vacuum or mop and we had to put all our things on the floor bcs there was no furniture. Very noisy karaoke downstairs until 2 am.
Check-in was a nightmare, we never got instructions on time and were standing late outside in the cold on a noisy bar street trying to reach the owner by phone and mail with no answer! When we called booking.com customer service and waited 30 mins to talk to someone, they finally managed to reach the owner and we got the codes. We had to stay bcs all was fully booked but we are not happy with the price we paid for this freezing cold flat.

- Albert (6/5): - I liked it's central location Maybe a winter duvet set to accompany the bedding but this was just a minor issue
- Emma (8/5): Fab base for a busy weekend - Location great, value for money amazing
- Martín (5/5): - Definitely the location: near the subway and "in" Leicester Square. The photos from the outside show the neighbourhood, not the building. The apartment is above a karaoke bar, so the "peaceful" thing is not such -at least until 2 am-, although it is "central". It's very noisy at night. The apartment is for two people only, not for 4 (unless they want to sleep on the floor, which I do not recommend given the little cleaning). Difficult to communicate with the owner.
- Andreea Dutescu (4/5): - Clean and central. The bed was OK and plenty of useful stuff (iron and board, tea and sugar, mini-fridge with freezer, lots of towels...). There is a clear intention of making you comfortable, but... It's really a 5th floor, it smells weird, there's no insulation whatsoever (ancient metal windows) so it's very cold, the door to the small balcony is welded shut, there is hot water at all faucets but not in the shower - you need to guess how that contraption is turned on. Don't even think about boiling water for a tea or coffee in the tattered dirty boiler, nor using any of the lime-covered glasses and cups - real health hazard.
It's a place for someone on a very low budget wanting to dwell in the city centre. 100% not suitable for business travel, nor anyone who's not in great shape. I will not be making this mistake again.
- Shui (2/5): - Location only “Peaceful Apartment Trap”

1. Misleading Listing:
The online listing did not show an accurate picture of the actual building, which misled us. There was also no street number visible outside. If you Google 18 Bear Street, London, the building shown is the one across the street — not the one we stayed in. Because of this, we were misled into booking and paying the full amount of $858 in July 2025 for a four-night stay.
2. Difficult Access and Poor Conditions:
Upon arrival at 3 PM, we received a full page of complicated instructions. As two retirees, we had to carry our luggage through three digital lock doors and climb to the top (5th) floor with no elevator. It also took us quite some time to even find the right apartment. Once inside, we discovered black mold on the bedroom window and mold on the bathroom ceiling.
3. Noisy Environment:
The apartment is definitely not peaceful, despite what the listing claimed. The building is old and has single-pane windows, so we could clearly hear people drinking and partying until 5 AM every night. There’s also a bar on the ground floor that is open seven days a week, making it impossible to sleep.
4. No Heat During Cold Weather:
The temperature outside was 9°C, yet the heaters in both the bedroom and kitchen did not work. The owner insisted they were working, but they clearly were not. We did not want to risk getting sick, so after staying just one night (October 4, 2025), we checked out and moved elsewhere.
Given that the apartment failed to provide basic heating, we request a refund of $644 for the remaining three nights.
-Szerintem a lakásban sincs jó illat.
-Az àgy alatt kosz, por, hajszálak.
-Gyermekeket is fogadnak de szerintem 10 év feletti gyerekekkel érdemesebb menni.
- Jan (5/5): Expensive for what was provided. - It was close to the Theatre we were going to. There was a strange smell in the apartment.
The windows didn’t close properly.
There was only the emergency light on by the door which made it difficult to find the key hole and quite dark on the stairs.

- Elizabeth (5/5): Wouldn’t recommend - Good location in the centre of town, a stones throw from Leicester Square tube and bars etc. Tea/coffee provided along with towels and half a bottle of shampoo. Extremely difficult to find. Owner provided details but didn’t say that the apartment was actually situated above a busy pub, you have to go through it, go up 4 flights of stairs and walk past the pub toilets, which was disgusting.
Apartment was reasonably clean but the main quilt for the double bed didn’t smell very fresh and, clearly hadn’t been washed.
The door handle to the kitchen is broken and my wife and daughter got stuck in there and it had to wait for someone to open it from the other side. This is dangerous and they were lucky they weren’t there alone. We contacted the owner about the broken lock but he didn’t respond.
Windows aren’t double glazed so quite noisy from the front.
There were 4 of us staying and we had to make up the sofa bed ourselves. The owner knew how many were staying so I’m surprised the sheets weren’t already on the sofa bed.
Place is very grubby and needs a lick of paint.
I wouldn’t recommend.
- Codie (1/5): We didn’t stay… - It was in Leicester Square The fact you have to walk through the side of an abandoned pub to get into the building - to then walk up the first flight of stairs past the abandoned pub toilets which are filthy and have flies - go past the pubs kitchen which is also trashed to a door that leads to an ultra hot apartment up another flights of stairs. Hair all over the floor and bed. Apartment was too hot because it’s right at the top of the building without aircon - very basic and not well kept at all. We didn’t even stay here because my friend had hurt her leg and we had to rush to the hospital - I explained this to the owner and he still charged me the full room rate (£140) I wish I had booked a Travellodge.
- Monika (5/5): - Noisy from both sides. No AC so if it is hot you need to open windows.
It was not possible to sleep without earplugs.
One bed was ok, second- it was rather a bed for small children/ more like mattrees.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Noah (5/5): Passable -
- Umesh (4/5): A place very convenient for location but other than that it’s disappointing wrt money which is charg - Location is the only main advantage 1) Room shown in photograph ( was A) but given was B
2) Room was cluster phobic ( at best for a couple) cannot be termed as family room
3) With Temperatures in London going above 30 deg c in end June , The room has no fan and hardly any ventilation ( except a small window) which opens in a terrace kind which is dirty looks like junkyard and always feel unsafe to keep it open. If one closes then practically no ventilation.
4) Microwave was not working. Reported immediately to change it but it was not fixed during our 4 days stay
5) Facilities were very basic.
- Elaine (8/5): Excellent value for money - Location good. Can get to theatres. Trafalgar square. Covent Garden etc all within a short walking distance.
Apartment very clean and tidy The apartment being on the 4th floor. Having to go past the men's toilet on level 2( punters from the pub on ground floor using it)
The decor on levels 3 and 4 dark paint and grimey dirty stairs. The sofa bed was on the floor when pulled out and was hard and uncomfortable
- Greg (8/5): Location, location, location - Location, location, location. Perfect for a short stay when location is most important. Good value for money. Everything was clean and worked fine. For this trip it, a night out around the pubs with my eldest son before going to Wemberly, it was perfect.
- Willis (8/5): Great location! Basic but clean! - Amazing location! Very near the Leicester Square tube station and in Chinatown and the theater district.
Space is good, fixtures very basic but all functional. It is a 4th floor walk up. If you have lots of luggage, it is going to be difficult. Having to go through several locked doors with combination locks slows you down entering the property. Also some noise from the pub downstairs does come through.
- Uju (10/5): Exceptional - Unbelievable bargain in a prominent location - Leicester Square no less. Lovely interior, nice touches and everything you need in the kitchen. Microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, crockery, utensils, iron, ironing board. Hairdryer and towels in bathroom. Easy to use and a powerful shower. Comfy, clean double bed, great wall mounted TV with remote. Can't fault this place, once you're in. The only negative is getting the key from the key safe, but that could have just been me.
- Andrew (8/5): Amazing Location, quiet bedroom. - Location is outstanding for the pricepoint. Communication via Booking.com was clear on all steps to access the property.
The property had a good level of amenities for an apartment at this price point, and all were in good condition.
Noise from Leicester square is loud in the kitchen/bathroom especially with windows open but as promised there was no outside noise in the bedroom with the windows and doors closes.
Rooms were clean but the bathroom.does have a small mold issue, most likely a result of guests not airing out the room whilst showering going by the placement, and typical of London apartments.
Shower was a smaller footprint cubicle and the property is up several sets of stairs therefore I would say it is not suitable for those with substantial mobility issues. The shower mount is suitable for taller people like myself (6'5)
Bed was clean but consists of a thinner mattress so was quite firm this may not suit everyone.
At the price we paid it was very good and would definitely stay again, but what you see is what you are getting and I would recommend that anyone booking set their expectations to this, compared to some of the luxury hotels located not too far away.
- Callaghan (7/5): Crammed a lot into a short space of time because of the good location - Location is excellent Entrance and stairs need a lot of updating and decoration
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzane (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location and clean, comfy, big apartment. Great price, helpful and friendly. Thank you 😁 On 4th floor, staircases need painting and steam cleaning, they give a bad impression of the building.
- Izzy (7/5): Lovely however not what was expected slightly uncomfortable facility’s - Property was very clean and was in a great location, it was a bit noisy at night but that is to be expected with the location of the property. The sofa bed is not a proper sofa bed, would probably be fine for children to sleep on, however, as 4 adults staying the sofa was not adequate and should have been advertised as a 2 bed.
- Justina (10/5): Central and clean. - Everything you might need. Clean apartment in a very good place. If ever in London, definitely staying here again.
- Alison (6/5): The flat is on the fourth floor so there are a lot of stairs to climb. The security door on street level did not lock. A - Location it was right in the middle of Leicester Square so couldn’t have to be more central Front door to the street level didn’t lock so this made me feel quite vulnerable.
- Santiago (8/5): Good - The location is great Entrance is creepy
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (6/5): Pleasant -
- Phương (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (8/5): Very good -
- Zyrah (7/5): Good and pleasant stay - convenient to go anywhere (walking distance to everywhere we want to go) Just have to pass by toilets everytime we go in and out
- Biby (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location! Instructions for the entrance door should be clearer, someone from next door had to tell us we were trying to open the wrong door
- Kamen (10/5): Great value for money - In terms of location, one cannot ask for more.
Great value for money.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Dolar (7/5): Good -
- Glaub (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vikki (7/5): Great location as long as there isn't an incident - Clean and new! Amazing location Only bad thing was that there was an incident in Leicester Square and we couldn't access the apartment until 5.30am.
- Chris (8/5): No frills accommodation in a great location. Not sure if peaceful should be in the title though! 😆 - Fantastic location, could not fault that at all, right in Leicester Square! You could not be more closer to the attractions if that is where you need to be. Perfect for us as we'd booked a show at the Apollo, drinks at Cahoots, dinner in China Town and an evening in the Comedy Store.
The 10am check out time is rather early if you're planning a late night and you will be disappointed with the view if that's your thing. We just needed a bed fir the night so weren't bothered. Clean apartment once inside although the stairs leading it had us worried to begin with. All communication from the host were clear and timely. The view to the rear wasn't great, but looking at the back of buildings never is. We didn't stay in the apartment long enough to be bothered. Some people will say it's noisy, but you're in Leicester Square so it's to be expected. Double glazing will sound proof it better.
- Dawson (6/5): Thank you - N/A Walk up to the apartment passed a area shared with Munsters tavern needs professional cleaning in this area
- Steve (8/5): Amazing location, neat and tidy apartment - The position of this property is really fantastic. It’s clearly brand newly decorated and early days as a rental, but it has everything you need for a good stay. Once the internet is sorted it will be perfect and I will defo stay here again. Comfy bed, everything new in the kitchen and all in all a good standard in what’s is clearly an old building. I think that there could be a few more homely things for comfort and things like clothes storage if you were there for a longer stay. Simple things could be added like door looks, hanging for towels. The entrance promises little as it’s above the pub and I would clear up the outside of the bedroom window but that’s not going to stop me staying here again!
