Guest Reviews
- Guest (8/5): Very cool place in a great location, albeit quite noisy. - Location was great, close enough to walk to Vatican and to the edge of the historical centre. The apartment is really full of character and interesting decor, it is really lovely. It feels like a unique space that is different to other offerings at the same price point. The bed was comfy and the rooms were a nice size. The host communicated well in the build-up to the stay. The apartment sits above the outdoor seating of a couple of restaurants and the windows don't keep much noise out. When in the bedroom, the noise is loud until past midnight. To get into the building the first time you need phone signal which feels like a unnecessary risk.
- OpenMindedTraveler (8/5): - Authentic design of the place, you feel like you’re visiting a local friend. Right in the bustling area of Trastevere.
Spacious living room & bedroom, considering the area.
We were able to check-in earlier, at no extra cost. Poor isolation of the windows, considering the noise outside on the street all night long. Even some thick / double curtains could help, if another set of windows is too much of an investment.
Black mold in the shower- easy to clean with a special anti-mold solution in just minutes.
The bed needs another set of pillows with the noise outside and the lack of bedboard.
The apartment was very cold the first night, we tried to start the heating following the instructions on the heating system, but it did not start. We also tried the AC on heat mode, but that wasn’t getting the desired result either.

- Gvantsa (9/5): In total very good place to stay, a bit expensive but quite good. - Whole space is big, everywhere are windows and it’s a huge plus, also the location was 10 out of 10. Was clean and nice, cosy, the feeling as I was in my grandmas house. Shower was a bit uncomfortable for tall people, there was small space for taking shower, also water draining wasn’t good, a bit smoky smell in the house. And the bed is very short, not for tall people. Would be nice if there was a mirror in the bedroom and also if the TV was a bit bigger.
- Guest (5/5): - It was in a great location. The air conditioner did not work properly, it would come on for only a few minutes before turning off. During our stay in Rome the temperature was 38-40 degrees, sleeping at night was extremely

- Jordi (6/5): - Molt mal aïllat, amb soroll totes les nits.
Terra molt brut a l'arribar.
Soroll de vidres cada dia a les 7 del matí.
- Yvonne (9/5): Superb - The location was fabulous!. If you like to walk while in Rome, you can walk everywhere from here. We walked to all the main attractions and explored the streets. Most days we averaged 10- 12 km. Make sure you have comfortable shoes as the cobblestones are uneven.
Scala is completely surrounded by bars and restaurants so you will be absolutely spoilt for choice!
If you want to cook at home, the kitchen is modest but completely functional.
The apartment has old Italian charm. Check in proved to be challenging. We were able to unlock the main door but once inside, we had no idea which apartment it was, even tho I contacted Marco's colleague to say we had arrived in Rome. After a phone call, he sent us a video of how to access the apartment.
Make sure you have this as it simplifies the process!
- Kate (8/5): Lovely place to stay in Rome - Beautifully elegant flat that looked like a home Quite a noisy area at night
- Kais (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely place to stay at, big and sunny. perfect location, a lot of restaurants and bars around. The hosts are very kind and replying quickly.
- Kristin (9/5): Superb -
- Kenji (5/5): Passable -
- Harriet (9/5): Great location - Location Needs more pillows on the bed
- Ron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - Host was great, apartment was great, everything you could need right in the heart of the best location in Rome. Nothing it was simply amazing.
- Lissy (7/5): Good - I love the decor of this flat, very spacious and clean. If you're going for that authentic Italian lifestyle, then this would be for you. The area has great restaurants, bars and a lively nightlife. Due to the lively atmosphere/ restaurant and bar below, it can get noisy till 2am. If you plan on having early nights throughout your stay (especially in the summer, where the windows have to be open) then this wouldn't be for you.
- Gerco (8/5): It was a vibe - The location was very convenient!
The self check-in system was cool and easy to use (with an option to use a manual key as well). The host stayed in touch regularly before our arrival to ensure we were well informed about the apartment and prepared for a smooth check-in.
The apartment had a lot of character with unique details in every single room. The aesthetics made our first holiday experience in Rome very special. The AC is not in the bedroom, so we had to leave the bedroom doors open to receive the airflow from the living room. Unlikely an issue in the winter, but in the middle of summer a little inconvenient. You're also right above a restaurant so it can be a bit loud through the night, but perhaps that's part of the experience of staying in central Rome...
- Joanne (8/5): Convenient and central place and all questions were answeeed promptly - Central location
Helpful owner
Easy access to apartment There was a strong stale cigarette smell that was throughout the whole apartment
Though place is central the noise level from restaurants was super loud
- Ka (9/5): I enjoy my stay at the property. The location is supreme. The house is beautiful and giving an authentic vibes. - The house is nicely decorated and comfortable. The location is in the heart of Trevestere and loads of restaurants nearby. Nothing.
- Zdeněk (9/5): Superb -
- Gina (7/5): Good location in Trastevere - Very good location and cosy apartment. Strong smell of cigarette smoke. Cups in the kitchen were not clean.
- Fadra (9/5): Great location, fabulous apartment - We loved the size of the apartment. We had plenty of room for a family of three. We also loved the decor - it felt very classic in design and furnishing. Really elegant. It was a perfect location in the heart of the more touristy part of Trastevere. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, and gelaterias within walking distance. It also felt very safe at night. Our only complaint was about the noise in the apartment. This wasn't the fault of the apartment - that's just life in Rome! There are restaurants just below the apartment and people eat until late at night. It was only loud if we kept the windows open so by the second night, we decided the close the windows and it was much better. But the street cleaners come early as do the people cleaning and setting up restaurants for the day.
- Simon (8/5): Wonderful location, take earplugs! - The location was perfect, on the other side of the river from the historic centre, but we could walk to most places easily within 30min max. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and was modern and clean. The management/owner were very quick to reply and act on any issues we had. We were also able to pay for a half day to stay longer on our last day, which was really helpful as it poured with rain and our return flight was in the evening. The kitchen was very dated and basic, with not enough equipment to do any real cooking, and one of the wall sockets was a bit dodgy. We knew from previous reviews that the noise from the street was going to be loud, so we took earplugs and it was fine, even with the occasional church bells! There are restaurants right below, and even late March they were busy, and the area was packed with tourists, so come prepared for that.
- Anthony (9/5): Great apartment where the action is. - How close it was to everything Rome has to offer, shortish walks to everywhere and plenty of public transport to get you to places that aren't close. Trastevere is definitely a fantastic base for Rome. The noise from the street & restaurant below was a bit much, especially as they packed up very late at night/early morning. The bells from the nearby church were so loud, it was like they were in the apartment, it was ok at 7pm but 7am not so much.
- Jinel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (10/5): Very charming nested within livly Trastavere - The property was very comfortable, interesting and charming. For Rome, it was reasonably quiet.
I loved the position nested in interesting lively Trastavere. Although we did not meet the host, we would highly recommend a meal at Il Tarallo, located downstairs, where the owners were very friendly and helpful.
Caffe della Scala Roma was nearby and served great coffee from 8am. The staff allowed us to stay for a coulpe of hours before our flight and booked our taxi. It was difficult to buy breakfast close by. The only place obviously serving in Piazza della Scala, was very disappointing and the staff inattentive.
- James (8/5): Very good - Great location in the heart of Trastevere, easy walk to all the sites of Rome. Lots of walking! Comfy bed, good facilities. Marco was very helpful. No toaster. Very noisy street at night due to restaurants - noise went until 3.30am most nights on our 5 night stay.
- Wayne (8/5): Overall great apartment and location - Kitchen needs modernizing
- Aryss (10/5): perfect location for a short Roman holiday - perfect location. walked everywhere. the ac isn’t in the bedroom itself. and the street below is very loud but we got used to it.
- Carly (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great, the manager was friendly and helpful, and we loved the bookshelf! Nothing. Thanks for a great vacation!
- Maria (8/5): Great - Perfect location for a roman holiday, the host met us on the street and even helped us with tha lugage! Would stay there again 100%
