Guest Reviews
- Katie (10/5): Perfect and homely for a quick getaway with the kids. - The cottage is very roomy and has everything you need. The little things are what makes this place a perfect retreat; the horses at the side fence out the bedroom windows, the historical pictures hung around the house, the selection of books in the main bedroom, a first aid kit in the laundry, kitchen basics like oil, salt/pepper, clingwrap etc in the kitchen. And the inclusion of heaters in each room and electric blankets meant we were comfortable with an overnight arctic chill! The view from the deck is overlooking a gorgeous valley with no one else in site. Some have commented about the sheer blinds but this didn’t bother us as we were up early to enjoy the morning sun that comes in the front of the cottage over the deck. Hamish is a great host and was very easy to communicate with and provided really clear directions to the cottage.
- James (9/5): A charming country cottage, in a beautiful, peaceful location. - The property exuded peacefulness. The extensive windows throughout the cottage allowed you to enjoy the natural surrounding beauty. Visits from the beautiful horses were a welcome treat. The cottage and amenities were comfortable and well-maintained. We enjoyed using the fire and coffee machine. During our stay, we loved dining at Taralga Hotel, and visiting Wombeyan Caves, and Taralga Wildlife Park. Blinds on the bedroom window to block out the morning sun would have been helpful.
- Aarogya (9/5): Best place to getaway from the crowd - Loved the location and tranquility of the place. The house itself was not the easiest to find (because we reached at night time). However the hosts were super lovely and accommodating to answer calls at night and help us find the house.

- Gil (9/5): - Amazing views very nice area There was too much light in the room.
We like the room to be darker.
There curtains did not block any sun
- Catherine (10/5): Great property to get away from it all - This is a great spot for a quiet few days away. The property is fabulous with great views, walking, bird life all to hand. Hamish was really friendly with his correspondence and supplied useful information before we arrived. We are looking forward to a return visit and have recommended the property to friends. Thank you Hamish! It's great that the property welcomes dogs (and it did not smell of dogs like some places we have stayed) but the yard is not secure if you have a small dog who likes to run! We have an old girl and she loved pottering around.
- Mandy (8/5): Excellent! - The location was wonderful, quiet and secluded. Access to the property is a bit hairy, due to the narrow bridge and track to the property.
- Craig (10/5): Peaceful and cosy. Highly recommend. - Very cosy, clean and well appointed. So peaceful and the host provided heaps of useful info. Nothing to not like.
- Hall (10/5): A little slice of country paradise. - Comfortable, clean and warm - gets the sun in the morning and so lovely sitting on the little patio with a cup of coffee (didn’t even feel that cold and it’s the middle of winter!). All rooms had heaters and electric blanket and the slow burner fire was cozy!
Absolutely stunning location and loved have the cows as neighbours :). Perfect place to unwind and wishes we could have stayed longer.
- Michel (10/5): Wildlife and country life - It was very well maintained. Had a nice person in charge who was available for questions support very kind and made us feel right at home. The place was Homie and comfortable and left us with a desire to stay longer. Well kept amazing wildlife all around worth the stay.
- Sally (8/5): Very good - Stunning picturesque location, lovely cottage with all you need plus fire and wood at the rear l ready. Minor issue was that the dishwasher wasn't working, but host told us and it was no big deal for us for our stay.
- Mia (10/5): One of the best place we stayed in Australia !! - A quiet and peaceful time was spent in the midst of nature. We were able to enjoy a beautiful full moon and an unbelievably wild landscape. However, since it was a hot day, there was a fan in all rooms, but...
Since there were no insect screens on the windows, we couldn't open them, which was inconvenient because many mosquitoes and insects would come inside.
and also It would be helpful to have mosquito repellent or incense.
- Natalie (8/5): Very good - The property is beautiful with the paddocks and creek to explore. My kids loved building dams in the creek, building stick huts, looking at cows and wildlife, and exploring the property. The cottage has a lovely historic feel and is very cosy. It is a great place to switch off from technology and enjoy the serene surroundings. My kids can't wait to come back.
- Janice (10/5): Everything you could ever want in a country getaway. I wish we could stay longer! I’ll have to book another weekend soon - Perfect country location with a gorgeous rural view, quiet and private, nicely decorated, cosy and warm, wood fire, well equipped kitchen, farm animals close, comfortable beds. Nothing that we didn’t like, we loved it all! It was a little hard to find the gate after dark. The bridge is quite narrow, but it wasn’t a problem.
- Margaret (8/5): Very good -
- Frank (10/5): Wonderful farm stay - The location is not so accessible, but I love it. The tranquility was enshrouded all around me. The cottage has everthing you need to make you comfortable. It's in the mid of winter, every bedroom has electric blanket and heater. All blankets are thick and warm and clean. There is also a fireplace in the living room, and firewood was ready in place. Although I didn't meet the owner, we talked over the phone and he was very friendly and helpful. The drive leading to the cottage was quite muddy and slippery after all that rains. Drove across the little wooden bridge in the property made me a bit unnerving. But hey, that's part of farming life, isn't it?
- Misha (10/5): A beautiful comfortable country cottage perfect to relax out of town for a weekend away - We loved our stay at the Bannaby Cottage. We stayed just for a couple of nights over the Easter long weekend and were lucky with the weather that was perfect. The Cottage was lovely with sunshine streaming through and beautiful country surroundings. It was so relaxing and peaceful that we were happy to just stay in and enjoy it and only went for a short walk to explore around the farm to see the traditional shearing shed that was incredible. The Cottage itself seems brand new / fully renovated and is beautifully set up - the photographs on the website don't do it justice. The place has a remote feel and it was quite an adventure for us driving there and back from Sydney through country roads that we preferred to the main roads and highway. We made a trip out of it and visited places along the way including on the way back the nearby Taralga and Wombeyan Caves that were worth the visit (even though I am not a big fan of caves and have already seen too many in Asia that were quite impressive). It was fun discovering a new part of NSW where we haven't been previously, as it is bit of a drive from Sydney just for a weekend away, especially if - like us - you don't go the direct way - but that's what makes it fun and interesting:)
- Joan (9/5): We stayed for 3 nights great country retreat, house was very clean and had every thing you needed - Location was perfect very peaceful saw lots of kangaroos sheep and birds.
The cottage was very comfortable with slow combustion fire was perfect in the evenings
