Guest Reviews
Erg leuk. Wifi was kapot.
- Josef (10/5): A pleasure to stay at this guest house! -
- Catherine (9/5): -
- Liz (10/5): Magnificent we will be back - Breakfast was beautiful.
Dinner was 10/10 I liked everything
- Susan (10/5): Fabulous. Beautiful. Warm. Welcoming. Beautiful - Beautiful in every single way. The hosts were wonderful and even though we speak almost no French, they were super lovely , upgraded our room and made us feel so completely welcome. This is an 18th century hunting lodge with beautiful lounges to relax in overlooking sweeping parkland with stag and deer roaming about. Our dog LOVED it here! Beds super comfortable and the rooms included tea / coffee making facilities. It was so utterly peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Apologies to the hosts as we left without saying thank you and goodbye but we couldnt find you (unsurprising as the place is huge!) Nothing.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Very comfortable and spacious.
The hosts were friendly and the food was good. Nothing

- Nigel (10/5): Touring in France on a motorcycle. - Excellent hosts, really nice setting and excellent food & drinks Gravel driveway a bit difficult with motorcycle parking but there was a concrete hard standing for us to park motorcycle on, enough space for one bike.
- geoffrey (9/5): - Great Chateau in a lovely location with two great hosts
- tiffany (10/5): Outstanding hospitality and wonderful home! - Wonderful stay (delightful antiques, gorgeous bed linen, extensive parkland around the property, fabulous breakfast) and such kind hospitable hosts - the home cooked meal was exceptional. We felt very posh and spoiled there! Would highly recommend. The exquisite evening meal cost was the same, whether you consumed lots of inclusive alcohol or not - my husband was very happy, but as a non drinker this always irritates me, particularly when I then get charged extra for water!!
- Guest (10/5): Parfait, endroit magnifique. -
- Robin (8/5): -
- ann (9/5): Would definitely return and recommend - Like living in someone’s home. Excellent meal the hosts were excellent
- Geoffrey (10/5): Said it above - We had stayed there before - a number of times - and were greeted so warmly by the Marquis and his wife - a genuine welcome, almost as old friends. We were the only guests that night - it was a Thursday visit.
Delightful room as always - overlooking the grounds, Supper outside - traditional tasty French dishes and wine - excellent. Breakfast had a 'widish' range of usual French breads, cheeses, confiture and fruits - all with English teas - our choice. Do visit, its exceptional. Would have liked a longer stay but our schedule would not permit it.
- elisabetta (9/5): -

- Sarah (10/5): A great way to finish a long drive and a short drive to the port the day after - The proprietors were welcoming charming and accommodating. The chateau is a family home and we delighted in the warmth of our hosts and beautiful calm surroundings. We saw deer and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner on the terrace. The food was excellent, as was the wine.
A stay to be repeated! nothing
- Alfred (8/5): Very good - The owners and an excellent evening meal. The bed and pillows
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Swimming in the lake
Excellent vegetarian dinner
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional - At the end of 10 days traversing the Pyrenees in a 4x4, this was a welcome treat. Beautifully appointed family chateau with lots of characterful artefacts and paintings dotted around. Lovely rooms, comfortable beds.
Run by the most friendly, welcoming and generous people I've come across in France. It was a shame that we couldn't eat here but we were the only 2 people in the entire chateau, and understandable. They recommended a very good restaurant in the town and called to book for us.
- Exell (10/5): see above - Ervie and Jackie were the best hosts that one could ask for!
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manijeh (9/5): Superb -
- Maurit (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible setting in a lived-in chateau, big hosted by the owners, we're happy to share the family'svery interesting history.
Care taken to make us as comfortable as possible.
The place is old, so expect the quirks of an older place but it is very well kept, and well worth the experience. Wifi signal can be improved as it constantly breaks. This is howver a very tiny detail in an overall excellent experience
- Carolina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (10/5): First Class - Wonderful stay very comfortable Comfortable and warm
- Sean (10/5): Great place, great hosts. - Lovely old Chateau, run by a very welcoming couple. Very clean and well looked after. Great location, out of town but with easy access. Nothing
- Howard (7/5): Good -
- Penelope (9/5): Superb -
- Jeffrey (7/5): Good -
- Janet (10/5): A fabulous place to stay! - The house is beautiful and set in lovely grounds, unfortunately we unable to explore them further as it was pouring with rain all evening! We felt like guests in their home, rather than just being in a B&B. The room was lovely and very comfortable. We also booked to have dinner and it was well worth it, a fantastic meal (all home cooked), sitting in the dining room at a beautifully laid table and then relaxing in the comfortable lounge. A great experience! Nothing
- Ashley (10/5): A wonderful and peaceful Chateau that we would recommend to all. - The property is a wonderful peaceful retreat. The grounds are spectacular. The hosts were so accommodating of our dog Rosie and welcomed us all. We had a really special dining experience in the evening and we wouldn’t hesitate to return if we are back in the area. Thank you so much for the beautiful stay. Nothing
- John (1/5): Full of character but not for us. - It seemed a good idea at the time of booking for two nights. Incredibly uncomfortable bed and dated bathroom facilities. We had to cut short our two night stay because of the bed issue.
- Graham (9/5): Superb - Friendly hosts, excellent home cooking.
- Penny (9/5): Exceptional stay - Beautiful chateau in huge grounds
Dogs welcome
Hosts were incredible
Felt as if we were their own guests in their home
Dinner with other guests Hot water was a bit erratic

- Richard (10/5): Awesome Chateau not to be missed. - Outstanding Chateau. Incredible history behind the property and the family which the owners are happy to share with you. Awesome view from the bedroom and bathroom over the park grounds and the lake. Amazing artwork hanging in all the rooms. A total pleasure to be able to experience a small slice of living in this gorgeous historic family home. Only having one night!
- Jo (10/5): A stunning house in a lovely location. - unique The bed was narrow
- Lynda (9/5): A wonderful experience - The hosts were lovely and welcoming.
The dinner was excellent, and staying in such historical building was a joy We would have liked more pillows on the beds
- Marilyn (7/5): Excellent evening meal and breakfast Host rather too bossy in telling us where to sit for meals - Lovely old house. Filled with antiquities
Large grounds with a pond. Good parking
Easy to find I had sent a message in May and beginning August via Booking.com requesting a dinner reservation and could my gluten free diet be accommodated. I had no reply to either message
- Alison (10/5): The host was very welcoming, and cooked a delicious dinner for us. Good value for money - Beautiful setting, very historic architecture and interior
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Book it, you’ll love it!! - A wonderful unique experience in a delightful château close to Alencon. Delicious food in a special setting. Wouldn’t hesitate to return All was good
- Tracey (10/5): Made to feel like a family friend invited home -
- Nick (10/5): Excellent - The chateaux was in a magnificent original condition with such history over four centuries. So special to have every room in the traditional style of fabric wall covering. Nothing - it’s incredible.
- David (8/5): Very good stay, would book again - Great location Air con!
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (10/5): The best stay on our way to and from Calais. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. - We absolutely love this chateau. It’s
Elegant, charming and in the most beautiful setting. We have been here three times and it never fails to disappoint. The food is excellent too and it is always lovely to meet the other guests. Perfect spot.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best places we have ever stayed at. Hosts wonderful, food excellent. Could not have wished for a better stay over. Fantastic.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Just perfect. 😀
- Michael (10/5): You are made to feel like personal guests at a beautiful chateau in a stunning setting. - The hosts are exceptionally welcoming. The chateau is stunning and set in beautiful grounds, the rooms elegant and comfortable. Dinner was preceded with cocktails with the hosts and other guests, then served at individual tables immaculately set on the terrace. A generous breakfast buffet was laid in the dining room. No complaints. The experience exceed our expectations.,
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Warm welcome from owners, sharing table for dinner was great, food good, building and gardens outstanding.
- Chloe (10/5): Really impressed! - The chateau is ideal if you are looking for somewhere to stop off when travelling, and are looking for something special as well. The chateau is beautiful, with huge grounds. The bedroom was very large, very comfortable, clean, with beautiful views and the bathroom had both bath and shower. I can highly recommend having dinner here. The food was fantastic, and the wine excellent. Eating outside admiring the views of the grounds was very relaxing after a long drive. Breakfast was also really good, with lots of options.
- Michael (10/5): Truly amazing! - This was truly an amazing experience. The property is magnificent as are the hosts. Dinner, which we hadn’t pre booked, was fantastic. This is a very underrated property and experience. We cannot rate it highly enough! Nothing
- Anna-liisa (9/5): superb location, family and dog friendly, gorgeous food and wine and fabulous hosts! - Superb location just off the auto route yet a haven of tranquility with wild deer running through the extensive grounds, a green oasis of calm.
the hosts were fabulous and accommodating and a superb dinner was provided with champagne reception, and wine included
Archie the spaniel, loved being able to stretch his legs off leash before the second part of our journey
Looking forward to our next trip can't think of anything
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Michele (10/5): A very memorable visit. - Beautiful property and such warm and welcoming hosts. Our room was really lovely and so comfortable . We couldn’t have supper there but our hostess booked a table at a nearby restaurant which was delicious .. we had a gorgeous breakfast and met some really nice people , a very enjoyable stay.
- Bob (9/5): Friendly Chateau - Quirky, quality and friendly sums this place up.
The food is out of this world - we had a fantastic evening meal! The breakfast is basic but well done.
The room we had was lovely and the views of the grounds and lake were fantastic.
It’s family run place to stay and you’re certainly made to feel part of the family
We will be back for more Nothing
This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d definitely recommend it
- Boscaratto (10/5): Exceptional - Host and hostess made us so welcome, again, as soon as we arrived. We have stayed here before and always do even if a little off route. Every aspect is splendid, more than that, outstanding. Our thanks to the Marquis and his wife.
- Ruby (10/5): Excellent place to stay - It’s such a gem hidden in a small parkland
Hosts were friendly and full of character
- Sally (7/5): Good - A charming couple who open up their elegant home to guests. Dinner and breakfast both good. The chateau is a long way out of Alencon. Our room was small.
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernard (9/5): A relaxing and friendly stay near a lovely old town. - Lovely home with a good breakfast . The evening meals were also very good. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Nothing really
- Daniela (10/5): Simply world class. An unrivalled experience - World class! Outstanding service, scenery, food and wine. If you’re fortunate enough to discover this wonderful chateau, you’ll be treated to a warm welcome, a fabulous dinner and breakfast and a completely unique aperitif experience in the glorious living area. We stayed with two small dogs and our baby who was given his own delicious 3-course steak meal, toys and made to feel at home.
- Suzanne (7/5): A nice stay in an old chateau surrounded with antiques and heirlooms - A lovely old chateau with friendly hosts.
A traditional evening meal was cooked for us and served in the lovely dining room. We were the only guests so atmosphere was a little lacking.
Although a lovely old chateau, inside and out felt rather sombre. The outside terrace where we had evening drinks could have been prettier if softened with flowers . I’m guessing it is a struggle keeping such a large place up together, with work only being done where necessary.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): A perfect stay in a unique chateau. - A great experience to stay in this beautiful chateaux and home. Our hosts could not have done more to make us welcome and comfortable. The evening meal, served in the elegant dining room was exceptional too. Highly recommended all round.

- Karen (10/5): Friendly hosts, beautiful, comfortable accommodation. A very special stay that I’ll always remember. - It was a beautiful property, set in amazing grounds with lots of wildlife. Just stunning. Nothing, it was exceptional!
- David (10/5): Just what we needed to break our journey south from the UK. - We were given a warm welcome. The evening meal was excellent and we had the opportunity to talk to other guests while we ate. Our room with en suite shower, etc, was quiet and sunny, and had a good view over the gardens. Beds were extremely comfortable. Good breakfast. The property was very clean. Nothing negative to say!
- Phil (10/5): A great experience in Alencon - We have stayed here twice. The hosts are very amiable and do everything they can to make your stay one to remember. The chateau is set in a private estate and we were able to watch hares and deer doing their daily activities. The evening meals are homemade and delicious and all the guests (6) dine together so there is an opportunity to meet and talk with people from other countries. Thoroughly recommended! Nothing!
- Nigel (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (8/5): Nice quiet stay. - Quite peaceful location. Nice size rooms. Certainly a nice chateau cultural feeling. Very nice host. It was a little hard to find but once there all great.
