• Helmut Anton Eduard (10/5): Traumort für Vogelbeobachtungen - Sehr gemütliches Holzhaus mit EG und DG, vor dem Haus Terrasse mit Tisch und Stühlen, im DG auf dem Balkon auch Tisch und Stühle. Unten direkt vor dem Holzhaus Vogelfütterungsstelle. Wunderschöne bunte Vögel aller Arten, auch Kolibri. Alles sehr blitzsauber, leckere Kokosnüsse im Kühlschrank zur Begrüßung. Ein sehr umgänglicher und liebenswürdiger Gastgeber Christian, der uns mit seinem Spektiv Tukane in den Baumwipfeln heranzoomte. Atemberaubend toll, wirklich toll. Wir saßen sehr gern oft vor der Holzhütte, um die vielen Vögel zu beobachten. Daneben stand auf dem Programm der Mistico Hanging Bridges Park, wo wir das Glück hatten, Faultiere von sehr nah zu erleben, dort sahen wir auch Leguane, Affen und einen Nasenbären und konnten auf die Baumdächer des Regenwaldes schauen. We were on foot and the walk into town is about 15 minute flat walk. We loved being somewhere private and peaceful. Thank you Cristian for being such a great host! Nothing

Christian fue super amable y nos ayudó con nuestras dudas, la cabaña es preciosa, muy cómoda, limpia y acogedora. Es muy agradable sentarse en el porche y ver las aves que acuden. Muy recomendable para pasar tiempo en la Fortuna Nada

• Michaela (7/5): - Christian ist ein super netter Gastgeber, er hilft wirklich bei allem. Man kann wirklich super Vögel beobachten und das Haus war sauber. Etwas muffiger, feuchter Geruch im Badezimmer. Leider keine Ablagemöglichkeiten neben dem Bett im Schlafzimmer, kein Platz für die Koffer im Schlafzimmer, eher spartanisch eingerichtet. Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt aber völlig ausreichend.

• Markus (9/5): Perfect wooden house with lots of birds in the garden - We had an absolutely wonderful stay and can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing experience. The house itself is a beautiful wooden home, located in a secure and peaceful gated community. It perfectly combines comfort with a natural, authentic atmosphere, making it feel like a true getaway while still offering everything you need for a comfortable stay. One of the most special touches was the daily routine of placing fresh bananas in the garden to attract wildlife. This created such a magical environment right outside our door. We were able to observe a variety of birds up close, and the absolute highlight were the hummingbirds – watching them every day was truly unforgettable and added something very special to our stay. Chris was an excellent host throughout our visit. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Whenever we had questions or needed anything, he was quick to help and always approachable. His hospitality really made a difference and contributed a lot to the overall positive experience. All in all, this place offers something truly special – a combination of comfort, nature, and warm hospitality. We would definitely come back again. There was nothing bad.

• Gregory (10/5): It wouldn’t have been as good if it wasn’t for Cristian. He set us up with a guided night tour for reptiles, a chocolate - Very clean. Left bananas out on a bird feeder so we had a constant view of amazing birds the entire stay. Fruits left to welcome us how amazing. No complaints.

Kaum waren wir da, hat er sich um unsere Wäsche gekümmert. Super! Hat uns auch bei einem anderem Problem schnell und unkompliziert geholfen. Für Vogelfreunde ideal: Dirket vor dem Haus eine Futterstelle mit viel Betrieb. Das Haus liegt neben anderen Lodges in einer sehr ruhigen Gegend. Gutes und nettes Restaurant zu Fuss in ein paar Minuten.
• Harry (10/5): Fantastic self catering cabins - Absolutely everything. The cabin is comfortable and the gated area is nice and well presented. Christian was always making sure we were happy and if there was anything he could help with. Regular fruit was put out for the birds, this proved to be our favourite thing! We saw more here sitting on the veranda than being out and about. The cooking area is small but has everything we needed for basic breakfasts or small snacks. The TV is not really in a place to sit and watch though we usually just sat out and watched the sunset and birds. The main bedroom is a little small with no bedside cabinet.

• Lotte (8/5): Prima verblijf voor een aantal dagen La Fortuna - Rustige plek en een hele aardige gastheer. Airco aanwezig wat ook fijn was met het warme weer. Locatie te ver en onveilig om te lopen naar het centrum. Voor de rest wat kleine dingen (geen stopcontact langs het bed, ongezellig licht)
• Nikolas (9/5): Highly recommend - Amazing place to stay! The location is great, nearby is the rope swing and to Arenal it's only a 15-20 min drive. It's very silent, just the animals around you. Which you can listen while sitting on the balcony or on the patio. The kitchen has everything you need to save some money on restaurants or prepare a good breakfast. There is not much space to put your belongings. Very little cupboards or similar. Also in the bathroom there is only a few hangers. That's something I would improve on.

• Jan (10/5): Arenal Sweet Bee - Arenal Sweet Bee Cabins is a gem in La Fortuna—clean, cozy cabins surrounded by nature with colorful birds right outside your door. The host, Christian, is incredibly kind and welcoming, even sharing fresh coconuts and avocados. Perfect mix of comfort, hospitality, and a touch of jungle magic.
• Marijke (9/5): - Wat een leuke verrassing was deze accomodatie. Echt een mooie lodge, alles sfeervol van hout gemaakt. Beneden een tweepersoonsslaapkamer en boven 2 losse bedden voor de kinderen. Boven een leuk balkon met een zitje en beneden een veranda. Geen spectaculair uitzicht, maar je kunt wel lekker buiten zitten en vogels bekijken. De eigenaar was erg aardig. Hij riep ons om de toekan te laten zien, had zelfs zijn spotting scope al voor ons klaargezet.

• Angelique (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf, gastvrij, behulpzaam - Geweldige mooie bungalows. Met een wc boven en beneden. Bij aankomst lag er fruit en lekkers klaar. Christiaan legde bananen op de voederbak van de vogels, zodat we konden genieten op ons balkon van alle mooie vogels. Hij kwam ons zelfs halen als hij een toekan had gespot. Het huisje is van alle gemakken voorzien: airco, ijskast, 2 pits fornuis. Kortom geweldig. We kwamen in het donker aan en werden door Waze niet goed naar het complex verwezen. We hadden slecht bereik qua internet. Dus we konden geen andere route ingeven. Gelukkig konden we ergens bij een hotel gebruik maken van de wifi, zodat we Christian konden bellen. Hij staat ons op te wachten bij een restaurant. Echt super!!

• Doren (8/5): Wonderful cabin stay - The cabin is in a quiet location, within a secure gated area. It is overlooking a cute little garden with a bird feeder and all kinds of birds came to our doorstep which was magical. Christian is a very attentive host and got the cabin ready for us for an early check in. Although the kitchen is well equipped, some basics like cooking oil and salt would have been nice.

• Zahi (10/5): Lovely place and GREAT host - We had an amazing stay at Christian’s place in La Fortuna! From the moment we arrived, Christian was incredibly accommodating and made us feel right at home. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was the incredible wildlife we got to enjoy right from outside the cabin—Christian even showed us some amazing birds (with his telescope), including toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, monkeys and many others. The location was perfect: close enough to walk to La Fortuna, but far enough to escape the hustle and bustle of the town. When in doubt about a hike or plan he was ready to help make our stay enjoyable and had great recommendations for us. He even saved us from tackling a hike that we thought was moderate to find out that is an expert one (Chato Volcano Trailhead). We highly recommend Christian’s place and will definitely be back! Nothing! We loved it all! We believe he may be the best host we experienced since our years we have been coming to CR
• Farrell (9/5): Great location, friendly host, beautiful area - The host, Christian, is so super nice and very accommodating! We arrived much later than we anticipated and it was no issue at all! The cabin was perfect for our stay - we had everything we needed! It's close enough that you can walk into town, but be careful at night because it's hard for the cars to see you on the side of the road if it's dark out, but it's safe and we saw plenty of people walking about. The grounds are beautiful with birds and trees and flowers; we had an absolutely lovely time.

Very close to everything. Clean and tidy. Snacks and coconuts provided. We wished the side curtains were not sheer to aid in privacy, although it is quite secluded.

• Wilhelmus (9/5): It was an awesome stay at Arenal Sweet Cabins and La Fortuna is a very nice town to visit - Staying at “Arenal Sweet Cabins” was a very good choice for our trip to Costa Rica. The owner, Christian, did built two very nice and comfortable houses, next to each other and besides his own house still giving maximum privacy. Our house was very clean and all things were arranged in a way that made us feel very welcome right away. The houses are located at a perfect position towards the lively La Fortuna; within a very short distance and at the correct side of La Fortuna! The owner Christian is very helpful and wants to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We immediately felt at home and decided to stay longer. This is a beautiful place for bird lovers. Christian feeds the birds bananas every morning and a multitude of birds come to enjoy them, including several species of toucans. Hummingbirds also fly around very often. Christian plans to expand the bird feeding area so that there is even more to enjoy. Christian is an aimable person and responds very quickly and correctly to requests of his visitors. Not applicable
• Charlotte (10/5): cute cabin in La Fortuna - Incredibly cute cabin in La Fortuna just a short 15ish minute walk from the main town. Great location and amazing host with great knowledge of the area and I loved his appreciation for nature and the wildlife it was incredibly inspiring! I would recommend staying here!
• Angela (10/5): Excellent location and host! - Cristian was an amazing host, and the location and facilities were perfect for us (3 women). He gave us so many great suggestions and helped us out with anything we needed. He helped attract some colorful birds when we arrived and provided some snacks to welcome us. The location is perfect for all activities and to walk easily into La Fortuna. Highly recommended! Everything was perfect.

The place was very clean. The television and WiFi worked great. Lighting in the main srea was too bright. The area could use more comfortable seating.

He had 4 coconuts for us and several sweets to take with us. The house was new and was very practical with a nice view. The cabin was situated in a gated community and therefore very safe.

• Thomas (10/5): Very friendly host, good location to plenty of activities (including the free hot springs.) - Very modern with lots of natural light. Gate at the entrance for security. Nice balcony with view of nature and birds. Nothing.
• Marjolein (9/5): Peaceful cottage - The cottage is peacefully located outside the busy center of La Fortuna. It’s situated in a gated residential area with a beautifully landscaped garden. The cottage accommodates up to four people and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, including a kettle, coffee maker, and more. Good airconditioning. Christian, the owner, is incredibly kind and always willing to help. As we learned during our stay, he used to work as a bird guide and has extensive knowledge about birds. We even spent some time with him in the garden, identifying and observing different bird species. From what I understand, Christian can be hired as a guide, which would undoubtedly enhance your experience. The cottage was a bit darker than we personally prefer, but that’s just a matter of taste. Also, keep in mind that the cottage is made of wood, so it creaks a little, which might bother some guests.

• Matthew (9/5): A romantic cabin, ideal for couples or even a family - Christian is a wonderful host - he welcomed us and made us feel very special with fresh fruits, flowers and chocolates to wish us a happy start of our honeymoon. He was also super responsive before and during our stay whenever we had a question. The cabin we stayed in was very pretty, comfortable, and situated in a great location with beautiful nature around it, especially the hummingbirds in the garden. The patio and balcony were great for having breakfast or an evening drink outside. The fact that the cabins are in a gated area and having Christian next door made us feel very safe. The location is perfect - we were less than 1km from the downtown of La Fortuna but still far enough away from any downtown noise, and there was plenty of parking space next to the cabin. The bed was very comfortable - not too hard and not too soft. We didn't really intend to cook much, but the kitchen area could have had a few more utensils. We didn't have a huge amount of hot water for showering, but this is maybe to be expected in a warm country (as we experienced in other accommodations here in Costa Rica). And a couple of very minor things: it would have been handy to have a bedside table on both sides of the bed, and a headboard of sorts or something to stop the pillows falling from the bed.
• Buffi (10/5): Cozy cabin retreat very close to La Fortuna - Lovely, clean, comfortable cabins with a spacious kitchen for cooking. Upstairs balcony is a great place for birdwatching. The host, Cristian, is incredibly warm and welcoming. He helped us find a good hot spring nearby, taught us how to eat rambutan, and provided us with pipas frias. Such a nice man! The location is great–just a 10 minute bike ride or short car trip into town. We'd definitely stay there again.

• Emily (10/5): Best place we stayed whilst in Costa Rica - We had a fantastic time staying in La Fortuna. Christian was an expectational host - nothing was ever too much. A little of time and effort has clearly been put into the accommodation. Clean, air conditioning, safe, well designed. We hired him as a guide for the day, and wow, what an itinerary he put together for us. Would recommend!! I loved everything, but important to note, best staying here if you have a car. It was very hot when we stayed and walking to town, although doable, would have been difficult in the heat.

The host was absolutely the best and went out of his way to help us see moneys and Toucan's with his telescope! I would rather pay by credit card and I usually don't travel with a lot of cash.

It had everything we would need, and we absolutely loved sitting on the balcony and watching the lightning storm in the evening. We were protected, comfortable, and had a great show. We dropped off our things early and when we left we asked our hosts to keep some things for us safe while we were out at Hot Springs. Everything was wonderful, and the hosts we’re extremely accommodating for every request. I highly recommend property . We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much Christian. You were awesome! The cabins totally accommodated our needs. There would be nothing there to dislike.
