- David (1/5): This is my first ever bad, Booking.com review. Avoid. You have been warned - There was a large tv with Netflix and the wifi was good I booked a 3 day stay, well in advance as the location was ideal for me. On the morning of the stay the owner said my apartment was not available due to plumbing issues and they were moving me to an alternative. Unfortunately, my text request to Booking.com to find alternative accommodation went unanswered and as I was already driving up from Devon, I had to use the alternative flat. I was offered a 10% discount to cover my daily travel costs to the original location (next to my conference venue) but declined, as I preferred to be transferred back there once the plumbing was fixed. The alternative apartment had not been cleaned: carpets stained and unhoovered; human hairs over the bathroom floor; oily, dirty kitchen surfaces; unwashed bathmat; only one ring working on cooker; freezer completely packed; fridge full of the permanent tenant's food. When I asked when I could move to the apartment I'd booked, I was told the plumber was working there right then. I tried again later but then suffered radio silence, with no further communication at all. On arrival I was aggressively chased for a £200 deposit, but have still not had this refunded 3 days after my return. I had hoped to move on from the whole dispiriting experience, but am now being told "booking.com terms allow us 14 days to repay the deposit", so this is going to drag on even longer whilst I wait to see if they do".
