Guest Reviews
- Talia (10/5): -
- Marilyn (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Jill (10/5): - The staff were very helpful, always super friendly, the room was pretty big, had what we needed to make our own quick meals.
- Trevor (10/5): - Fast check-in, friendly staff, and received an upgrade. Building needs some maintenance, outdoor parking way too tight.
- John (9/5): -
- Rolly (10/5): - Front desk Jackie was very helpful.
- Becky (9/5): Restful retreat in a beautiful setting. - Varied and excellent Your head office kept switching our hotel from one to the other in your chain of hotels causing stress.
- wilma (6/5): - Location was very good with friendly staff. The only thing we didn't like is the kitchen sink wasn't draining well. . We reported it and got fixed 1 day before we end our holiday.
- Susan (8/5): Not so great room - Room was dated and bed was awful! So uncomfortable. The power went out on the second night. I couldn’t call the front desk because they close at 11:00. Called the emergency number to find out it was a planned outage from 11pm-5am. No staff told us this would happen
- andrea (8/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): - Lovely little appartment / room within easy walking distance of the centre of Canmore. Facilities a little dated but everything we needed.
- Tanja (8/5): - Fantastic apartment. Totally felt like home. The view was amazing and a great way to wake up each morning. Thank you
- Mitchell (6/5): - Furniture in the room was pretty old. Room was not updated in a while. Not a terrible place to stay. Didn't used any of the facilities. It worked for us. We of course got the room across the hall from the ice and vending machine. Basically outside the door. However, since the weather was not warm, nobody used the ice machine during our stay.
- Manginsay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (8/5): - Staff were excellent but the standard of the accommodation was not what was expected. Tv in the lounge not working, some lights not working and the door between the bedroom and kitchen area would not close properly
- Brittni (6/5): - We had a pretty solid experience. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was decent. We had a major power outage during our stay and got moved from one hotel to another after booking months in advance. We also had some considerations with our shower.
- Yuriko (10/5): Exceptional - We were very lucky that they gave us free upgrade to a suite room. The room had a kitchen, laundry and 2 bedrooms, BBQ, and fireplace. The suite was very conformable.
- Rosalie (8/5): - We found the pillows a bit hard
- PATRICIA (6/5): - Nice room. Lots of rules. Sign not lit so difficult to find. Reception was sweet to wait for us
- Pierre (10/5): - Was great!
- Ashley (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. They were able to answer my questions prior to arrival. Room was clean. We got upgraded to a larger room with a mountain view which was fantastic. Hallways under renovations but we didn’t notice any construction noise during our stay
- Duane (10/5): - Staff friendly. Cozy two bedroom with kitchenette
- Charles (2/5): - Two days before our trip the property we booked and paid for notified us that we were being relocated to a sister property to accommodate other guests. We had to pay for it in full, and if we cancelled we would not get our money back, but yet they can bounce us to a Super 8 caliber location without compensation or upgrade. The whole industry has become self serving and could care less about their clients. The people at the site were excellent but that does not make up for the way we were treated without recourse. Needless to say, getting treated like this two days before our vacation started did have a negative effect on the whole week. Travel is becoming less desirable.
- Spencer (10/5): - Great time here! The front desk team was super accommodating and helpful. The rooms was super clean and nice - we even got upgraded to a condo suite! Thanks!
- Michelle (10/5): - My family stayed at Sunset Mountain Inn and spa for 4 nights. The staff (Jackie and Ruth) were so welcoming and amazing. Our place was clean with all the amenities we needed. Pool and hot tub was a hit after a long day of walking. Views from our balcony was stunning. Bed was comfortable. My only concern was my bedroom curtains were not blackout so at 5:30am sunrise, brightness woke me up.
I would definitely go back here and recommend it. You wont regret it.
- Kim (10/5): - The resort was very nice . It was very clean , even with the renovation going on. The staff is very polite.
- Dennis (6/5): It was good for an overnight stop - Good location reasonable price for Canmore. Was clean Dated floors furniture and tub needs some love. Late check 5 and early leave 10. Not a fan
- Rene (8/5): - Walking distance to everything
- Janice (7/5): Good - Location
Swimming pool next door Scratchy towels
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Olena (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elissa (8/5): - Since I was there with my children, the pool was obviously our most favorite part of this facility. We had a junior room and it was the perfect layout for us but I wish we brought our slippers as the hardwood and tile were quite cold. Unfortunately I can confirm that there is the strange smell that other reviewers have mentioned, so that always makes you think it isn't clean but our room was very clean.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not great first impressions - We paid for a room for a family and they complained about many aspects of the hotel being dissatisfactory and not well kept. This was to the point where we had two nights booked for them and we had to book them a different hotel entirely the second night.
- Paula (6/5): Decent but could be better with a bit of sprucing -up. - Convenient location, underground parking. Room was fine but shabby. Towels were tiny and paper thin. Bed was hard and coverings old, but clean. Room was boiling hot and could not adjust. Everything was fine but needed updating. Walls were dinged, lighting dark. Pillows flat.
- Devon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deidre (6/5): - Our code to the room wasn’t set right off the bat. Issues with the code for the parkade. Wasn’t advised the pool was in another building so that would have made me try to change buildings for easier access. Room was very clean and well stocked and it was the nicest and most spacious hotel bathroom I’ve ever used.
- Lisa (4/5): - The noise level in this building was unacceptable. In the binder in the room the first page is dedicated to the noise bylaw as this has been a problem at this resort. True enough, the walls are not sound proof and the amount of banging and scraping coming from the floor above kept us up and woke us early.
The temperature in the room was very warm - too warm to sleep. We turned off the thermostat within a couple of hours of checking in, opened the window and it was still stifling in the room.
There were good things about the place:
Cleanliness was quite good. The front desk staff were friendly and hospitable; albeit I disliked being called 'sweetheart' with every interaction. They were helpful and pleasant.
The pool was quite large with a waterslide which was quite crowded. To be expected as we stayed on a weekend over the Christmas holidays. Regardless, the pool and hot tub areas were quite nice.
It was great to have heated, free, underground parking.
This place is not listed as a time share but that is exactly what it is. Housekeeping is not daily unless you pay for it. That was unclear to me when I booked this place and likely would have booked somewhere else had I known this in advance. A few other minor inconveniences like several electrical outlets and wall light switches not working in addition to the things mentioned above is what essentially makes me give this place an overall 2/5.
- Dylan (10/5): - Loved the location and the small but super cozy suite. Pool was a short walk across the parking lot, which we didn’t find an inconvenience at all. Would stay here again.
- Kelly (10/5): - The room , location
- Leslie (10/5): - Next door people were loud and partying until 4:25am
- Riana (6/5): - You get what you pay for here. The room was almost exactly as pictured, and there was heated underground parking. A few negatives that we had were the room was not cleaned very well, when we checked in, our 3yr old found a napkin under the bed within 10 mins of being there. There were no towels available at the pool despite the front desk saying there would be, and because it is in a different building, I had to run across the parking lot soaking wet in the middle of winter to get towels from our room for the rest of my family. They also had a leak happen just down the hall from us the morning before we checked in and they had loud fans running 24/7. None of the games in the game room worked. The beds and bathroom were clean so that is one of the positives.
- Dorota (8/5): - Overall, it is a nice hotel. Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. However, it would be nice if it was mentioned that you need to go outside to get to the swimming pool. Sunset Mountain Inn and Spa is not connected to the building where swimming pool is located. Also, it would be nice if they provided bathrobes so you can comfortably cross the street to get to the swimming pool.
- Aline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristin (6/5): - The property was great but nothing spectacular. We have no complaints and the staff was friendly and helpful
- Lindsay (10/5): - Friendly staff, room was spacious and clean, Beds were comfortable, kitchen was great and fully stocked
- Hancher (7/5): Good -
- Menachem (10/5): - Jacky at front desk was really welcoming and realy nice!
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Lonya (10/5): - Love this property each time we stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Live the heated underground parking and the ease of check-in
- Cliff (9/5): Comfortable -
- Joseph (10/5): - The unit that we had was absolutely amazing. Management had up graded our stay from 1 bedroom to a condo unit and we truly loved it. Will definitely book a similar unit the next time we’re in the area. Thanks.
- Brad (6/5): - We liked the closeness to everything in the area and Banff. And we loved the pool and hot tub.
- Shahzad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sheharyar (10/5): - Everything was great
- Felicia (10/5): - Stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely. Check in and out super easy. Accessible parking and door codes instead of cards was so nice for us. Also loved the easy access pool and hot tub next door. Worth it in my option for the price and decently close to Banff. Would book here again.
- ML (6/5): - Dated property. Airconditioning not working, fortunately there is an electric fan in the room and it is there for a reason
- Sheryl (10/5): - The staff are very helpful
- Daniel L (10/5): - Loved the space!! 2 rooms and kitchen area!
- Kirsten (6/5): - Overall the property was fine, nothing was super standout amazing or terrible. The A/C only works above certain temperatures which left us hoping the one window and provided fan would cool the room enough to be comfortable (it didn't) and though a nice touch, most of the machines in the game room are semi-functional at best. It was a bit daunting figuring out where to go for the pool since it is located in a separate building, and the "change room" is non-existant but that would be on the other property to assess. Again, the experience was fine, the staff were friendly and welcoming, but this would not be my first choice for our next stay in Canmore.
- William (8/5): - We sure appreciated the kitchenette and the extra room it provided. Staff accommodating!
- Jennifer (8/5): - It was ok for our stay ... the room was hot and limited air flow from the small window ... we were also woken up to a truck backing up in the property next to ours at 7:30am
- Courtney (10/5): - Aside from the room being a little bit on the warm side, and the parkade being labelled something different than the resort name, everything was wonderful! Front desk closes at 11pm, but the staff made sure we had very detailed instructions, door codes, parking access, everything was so easy! Would absolutely stay here again!!
- Imelda (10/5): - Quiet place.
- Gordon (7/5): Good - No breakfasts Softer mattress.
- Nolan (6/5): - Very basic room. Older building.
- Jean-Yves (8/5): Good location to explore the Rockies - Good location with access to a pool, spa, BBQ and game room (only used the pool table). Reception people always happy to help. We used Canmore as our base to visit the national parks (Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, etc.), as well as Calgary.
- WENDY (8/5): - The lady that booked us in was super friendly and helpful.
- JEENA (10/5): - Good place for couple of days. Pricey.
- Leyton (10/5): Exceptional -
- lori Rae (6/5): - Not worth the cost, very plain and basic. Lots of walking to get to room, pool. To go outside.
- Aysel (4/5): - The guests stayed above us made too much noise until midnight. They were moving furniture and stumping. This happened both nights.
- Beverly (9/5): Superb - Convenient to everything.
- Marsy (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and eager to help make our stay exactly what we wanted
- Avinash (9/5): Superb - Really liked the number of towels provided and the cleanliness of the property. Also liked the peace and quite of the locality. Finding the parking on day 1 and the reception on day 1 was a little tricky . Especially at night time. Signage can be better.
- Marsy (8/5): - Staff went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable,
- Ailsa (8/5): - Room was nice, but you need about 5 different codes to get in, bit of a faff.
- Rexhije (4/5): Another expensive hostel - $400 per night. - As the title says, it's just barely above hostel quality but is demanding 5 star payment for what is barely a 3 star property. The decor is old, the cleanliness is average at best, parking is pot luck. Beds are very cheap and uncomfortable and when asked upon check in if they had any rooms with orthopedic beds, the answer was no, but we'll have a topper put on the bed for you. When we returned to the room, the topper was a large piece of sponge/foam and it had been put on the pull down sofa bed, also very uncomfortable. $800 for two nights. Absolutely rubbish. Do not let that lovely profile pic of the property with the Three Sisters fool you, our room didn't even have a balcony and if you cared to look out of the window, you see the carpark. This ridiculousness has to stop. Properties that people wouldn't have considered a few years ago, unless they were on a very tight budget and these were cheap - which they were, wouldn't have considered this. Now it's just baseline average at $400 a night, but the only thing upgraded is the price, the property is still a 2 star struggling to be a 3. Awful, if you have options, use them. On the bright side, great central location.
- Ruby (8/5): The stay was with beautiful view, clean hotel, wonderful staff. - Not applicable Everything was good, I might have had a little miss hearing of our last day of stay at the resort for the penthouse. As we were large family, we needed one more room but even through short notice, the staff there were excellent in trying to go up and beyond to help us accommodate and make us feel comfortable. Thank you so much to Joy and Ruth especially. Thank you for communicating before we arrived and throughout our stay.
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): - The room cleaning was infrequent or not at all. We stayed 16 days and the room was cleaned on 2 or 3 times.
- Anne (6/5): - It was very suprising that they just get the dirty towels and leave a pile of new ones and fix the bed without changing the sheets. Its a first for me to experience that out of all the hotels i’ve stayed in.
- Badr-E-Allam (10/5): - Just love this place. Thank you
- Coleen Maria (10/5): - Are stay was awesome!
- Aakash (6/5): - Nice But Price is expensive
- Lisa (6/5): Average place - It was an average place. Older facilities. Ventilation is lacking.
- Keo (10/5): - I love how close it is to the restaurants and shopping areas. The Mountain View out of the room was nice. There’s a kitchen and living space and kind staff. Will return
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful hotel - This was a wonderful hotel and we enjoyed our stay!
- Peter (4/5): - The property itself wasn’t wonderful. Definitely older and the stairwell housed bags of used bottles. They attempted to mask this with air freshener, it didn’t work. The smell permeated other areas and our room was close to the stairs. Wouldn’t recommend.
- Amarjot (3/5): Poor -
- Camille Jane (6/5): - The room was much more spacious than I thought. It was clean, the view was from the outside was great and I had no problems with noise. My only issue was the $15 per day fee that wasn’t highlighted enough during my booking. They make you pay for amenities including WiFi, regardless if not you use them, if you book through a 3rd party.
- Sunny (8/5): - Room is very simple and small. It’s clean and quiet but simple things like outlets were sparse. Gave college dorm vibes. No patio so could not enjoy the evening views. Staff were fantastic though. Requested a cot and it was delivered right away. Had to get the tv fixed and it was done quickly too. Very central for walking anywhere in town.
- wendy (10/5): - clean, quiet and good price
- Julita (10/5): - The unit was speak and span, close to shops, grocery (Save on Food), well-equipped kitchenette, front desk ladies were helpful. Only thing is that the pool was charged extra even if we did not have the time to use it. Overall, we loved our 5 nights stay.
- Sarah (8/5): - Kids loved the pool and games room.
- Donald (8/5): - Air conditioner was very loud
- Michael (6/5): - This property is definitely dated and not with $400 per night, felt like a slightly better version of a super 8
- martin (10/5): - We had pleasant stay, number key pad codes was confusing but not a problem
- ROBIJANTO (8/5): - Overall was a good stay.
- Corinne (10/5): - We love to stay in Canmore and this resort exceeded our expectations. As a family, we were impressed with the pool, games room, and staff. The value we got compared to other places is much higher. We will def be back.
