Guest Reviews
- Sandra (9/5): - The location was very central. Had a beautiful garden and the room was very comfortable. We had everything we needed. Room was a bit small, but that didn't really matter.
- SecretSquirrell (5/5): -
- upton (8/5): - great location - fantastic communication with the owner - wifi worked great - off road parking
- Terence (8/5): Excellent getaway spot - Quiet
- John (4/5): Disappointing for $165 a night! - Location in town center was great and parking very convenient. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was also clean and decent. It was very quiet and peaceful. We could walk to lunch, dinner and several points of interest. The room was not properly cleaned, the rungs had unvacuumed stuff all over the floor. There were cobwebs all over the place. The entire outside of the house, porches and furniture was so filthy you could not sit outside unless you wanated to spend time cleaning up.
- Dale (8/5): -
- Tim (8/5): Best accommodation in York for the price - Proximity to the town
One of the better stays in York
Reasonably comfortable for a short stay Noise from pub across the road
Shortage of tea and coffee
Could be cleaner
Did not see any staff
- Gavin (7/5): Ok for overnight stay. Nice hotel for tea 100 yards away. Host fast to respond and obliging. Thanks - Central
Quiet location
Large room
Comfy bed Rain shower not our favourite type but was hot .strong pressure. Good
- Irene (10/5): - Beautiful setting, close to all amenities, Immaculate, comfortable bed and such a cosy place.
When we arrived at 2pm, it was a hot day & we welcomed the aircon on for us when we entered our room.Thank you & we will definitely stay again. 5stars from us!
- Dyani (9/5): Well presented accommodation in a great location. Would definitely stay there again. - Location was great. Responses from host were quick and easy to understand. Room was very clean and tidy. Double rain head shower was fantasic. Pillows were a little thin, but there is storage room available to keep another set. :)
- Phillip (8/5): Loved the name, loved the old world charm would definitely stay again. - Beautiful old room, high ceilings, it was lovely. Microwave, fridge, kettle etc.
- XU (9/5): - Very clean and spacious. The facility is fantastic. The host is quite respectful.
- Judith (9/5): A rustic, comfortable old house in a great location. - The location was great; the Verandah and Garden were lovely. The bed was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and bathroom was clean. A/C worked well in the 35° heat. There were 2 steps leading from the bedroom to bathroom, which were a falls hazard, especially when it was dark in the quite small bedroom.
- David (10/5): Would absolutely stay again. - Able to enter at anytime as the key was in a lock box. Owner was fantastic with communication! Nothing
- Mary (8/5): Return visit. Good place to stay - Central location, lovely clean and comfortable room
- Moffitt (9/5): - Love the place. Clean and very serviceable. Up keep of gardens 😒 know its end of summer BUT????
- Jill (5/5): Very basic room, could do with a good clean - N/A We had no power to even boil a kettle in the morning, no notification, to say why!!! Left at 10, an still no power.
- Natasha (9/5): -
- Edith (8/5): Relaxing. - Comfortable bed with sufficient pillows. Clean shower and strong water flow.
Functional aircon as weather very hot.
Undercover parking was appreciated. On a main road with
loud rev noises by passing cars both days around 6 am for thirty minutes. Half the surrounding fence missing. ? A security issue.
- Marion (7/5): Good place to stay a short time. The town is very charming. - Very close to Perth city. Good place for make a stop on the road. Charming town. Accomodation great for a short time. Too bad the exteriors are not take care (veranda, garden). Decoration simple but useful.
- HIME (8/5): 良かった -
- Robert (1/5): Tje worst accommodation ever - Nothing Run down and not safe
- Louise (10/5): Great holiday location - Location right in town Nothing
- Karen (9/5): Lavender house is in the Main Streetof York ... without the loud music of you stayed in one of the many hotels in town.. - Close to everything N/a
- Janelle (8/5): Peaceful - It was on the main road and walking distance to everything Could use a chopping board and a decent knife .
- Lois (10/5): - Location was brilliant. Undercover parking. The room was large and spacious, the bed was beautifully comfortable. There was a comfortable lounge, and a small table and chairs in the room. Full of old world charm however the facilities were modern. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There was also quite a lot of outdoor seating on the veranda and in the garden.
- Graham (7/5): As above - Middle of town Needs a bit of tlc but otherwise a great location
- Cameron (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Clean, comfortable and central. - York is lovely and lavender house is very central, but not so central that it’s noisy.
- Emma (8/5): - Great location for a short stay.
The room was clean with comfortable beds.
Walking distance to shops.
All the basics were supplied.
Enjoyed the stay. The shower was unpleasant. No shower screen causes the bathroom to flood with water, including soaking the vanity and towel racks.
- Naomi (8/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - The room was spacious as was the bathroom. The shower was excellent. There was a small kitchenette which met our needs. The parking was just outside. I liked everything but it was a character property and that might not appeal to everyone.
- David (7/5): -
- Lynn (7/5): Marloo - Beautiful house loved it It was a little run down but just needs some TLC
- Jean (6/5): comfortable, clean, hosts were helpful and friendly, but minor maintenance needed. - Room 1 had kitchenette. Very handy for Town Hall for the concert I attended. Cheryl was helpful, though I didn't see her. Rooms spacious, lovely big shower, comfortable bed. Rooms were very clean. Parking excellent and roomy. Decor is looking tired. Rooms were nice but I wouldn't class them as Luxurious as advertised. The tables on the verandah were very dusty so we didn't use them. Room 2 had an unpleasant odour. The air conditioner in room 1 was faulty and kept turning on and off even when it was switched off.
- Gary (8/5): -
- Cocks (10/5): Everything you would need was provided. Excellent location plenty of room for parking -
- TLttl (8/5): Great location center of town - Great location. Great communication from staff via text. Didn't actually see anyone at the property Little run down
- priyani (1/5): Disastrous. I had a fall tripping on the steps from the bath room to the bedroom. Shoulder injury. - the whole modification of the room. not safe.
- Rudolf (7/5): -
- Alex (9/5): -
- Lintott (8/5): -
- Caroline (6/5): Not like the pictures ... - Location was great. Staff very responsive when I called as there was no water. Everything was a little run down and shabby. Room had a musty smell. Flyscreen door was dirty. Outside veranda area was covered in dust. Pathway around side littered with squished olives. A quaint property that needs some TLC.
- Glenys (9/5): I'd definitely stay here again when I visit York. - Location was perfect - very near to everything I needed but in a quite area. The room was in a lovely old house with a blend of elegant historic features and luxurious modern conveniences.
- Eric (9/5): - Good situation for town No dish cloth or towel especially when they ask you.to wash up
- Julien (9/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Smile2d (8/5): -
- John (7/5): - Location and comfortable bed. Mouldy shower cubicle and water on floor from shower. The towels and wash clothes were terrible, very hard and like sand paper. Absolutely terrible. Bed head base, was very inconvenient especially for older people at night as you kick the base getting into bed. I
- byrne (8/5): -
- Miller (10/5): -
- McLachlan (8/5): enjoyable - very central , but still quiet
- Carmel (5/5): We had a comfortable bed & good amenities but the place needs a really good clean. - It was in a great position in the Main Street which is full of beautiful old buildings. I was so disappointed to arrive at this house to find it so uncared for. Dusty dirty verandah & walls. Dirty seating outside & chipped paint on the steps. Unkempt garden. This place could be so much better with some cleaning.
- Julie (10/5): We liked how nicely it was presented - The cosy feel Nothing.
- Jill (5/5): A very small room for twin beds with little space to put our stuff. Poor lighting. -
- Willems (8/5): Very good -
- Geoff (5/5): Passable - Location great. Heating and maintenance of the room. Gaps between ceiling and wall adding to. Cold room temperature. Split system not working effectively.
- Joss (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -

- Karen (9/5): Superb - Nothing to dislike, friendly hosts, clean and comfortable room
- Lisa (8/5): Cosy room. Wish we could have stayed longer. Very interesting town within walking distance. - Great location, parking, comfortable beds, excellent shower, sufficient cups and plates. No problems
- Alan (8/5): Okay but could be better... - Location was great. We had problems accessing the property and contacting booking.com and the owner. The external areas were not impressive. Tables and chairs were filthy, covered in dust. After more than two hours waiting to access the room, we managed to talk to the owner, Cherie. She was apologetic and said booking.com had not notified her of our reservation. Anyway, all was sorted and the inside of the place was very different from outside. Good sized room with comfortable bed, sofa, table & chairs, a wardrobe, small kitchen, air con and a large wet room. Contact was unimpressive. Externally the property looked neglected and dirty.
- Neva (9/5): A haven - Location, cool, clean haven on a very hot day. The bed although not big was so comfortable. The bathroom was amazing, double showers, wonderful towels, linen etc. Nothing
- Guenter (10/5): If ever I have to stay in that part of the country, Lavender House is where I'll be booking in. - The rooms were a good size, beds were really comfortable, showers were super, no complaints whatsoever Nothing to dislike
- Miller (8/5): Very good -
- Candace (8/5): Pleasant room. - Close to town There was some scratching noise at night from an animal that woke us.
- Naama (9/5): Superb -
- Guenter (9/5): We only showered and slept there, but it was very good - Didn't have breakfast, lovely shower, comfy bed towels were a bit hard (dried in the sun hard)
- De (7/5): Nice small town, the place was rustic and comfortable and amenities were good. - Tea and coffee bags, sugar and milk was provided. York is a very small town so distance to places is negligible but the location was good as it was away from the busy part. It was rustic but was disappointed that the verandah was not swept, the table outside our room was full of dust so we had to clean it before we sat. The trees were full of cobwebs. Microwave would have been a good addition.
- Irina (9/5): Superb - Unusual old style very impressive unit, clean , comfortable , convenient location
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - No human contact was involved. Another guest saved the day for us by helping me with finding the lockbox code

- Christina (9/5): Very pretty setting in the heart of town with great facilities plus coffee, teas and chocolates. - Great location. Great room. Fabulous bathroom. And sitting on the front verandah with a bottle of red wine and a charcuterie plate and watching the world go by was better than good. Everything was perfect.
