Jane (5/5): It was ok but I probably wouldn’t stay there again. - Right in the middle of York. The room was well appointed with a fridge, kettle and toaster. The carpet was dirty. It was noisy when workmen started up trucks early in the morning. Our stay didn’t include breakfast and the Settlers pub wasn’t open in the morning so we had to find somewhere else. I booked three rooms and they were not together or even close to each other. One of the rooms had a door lock which didn’t work so they had to change rooms. .

Tammy (9/5): We have been going here for years most of the time we have stayed here. I think it’s the best place to stay in York as i - It’s right in the town centre. Parking was great plenty of space. Once you are there and parked the car you can walk around the town very easily. Food and entertainment is all there. Always have good entertainment. I don’t think there is anything that I didn’t like as it caters for all needs.

Danek (1/5): Change the mattress and fix the window so noise goes through! - The place is beautiful; however, we had the worst mattress possible. We were in room 13; it must have been so unlucky. The mattress had springs kicking us. Also, it had a plastic protector that was very uncomfortable in the summer heat! We were sleeping in our own juice regarding the aircon being on. On arrival, we could smell oil paint, so we guessed the balcony had been freshly painted, and, to be honest, the room shouldn't have been offered. The room has a small window that couldn't be closed, and the noise was unbearable. The staff was so noisy with emptying bins that it turned out to be a great, uncomfortable stay; it turned out to be a disaster, as I didn't get any rest. Very disappointed. Most of the rooms have a little table with two chairs outside but ours didn't. The hotel was nearly empty, they could have given us a better room. Light came in at night on the side of the blind. Restaurant did not open until 4pm. No WIFI Would not go back there.

The place has that perfect mix of historic charm and comfort—super clean, beautifully maintained, and just a really relaxing vibe the whole time. Staff were friendly and welcoming without being over the top, which I always appreciate. Location is spot on too, easy walk to everything in town. Rene (5/5): Not a very pleasant experience - I enjoyed the little town The bathroom was In poor condition. Being a family room, the tub and rails were rusted. No proper hold to get in and out of the tub shower, making it more difficult with no extractor in place resulting in the walls being damp. My son has cerebral palsy so it was very difficult and dangerous to manage. Cobwebs everywhere and the beds were terrible. Dishes needed to be rinsed out in the bathroom sink. Also, no hairdryer was available in the room despite it being included in the booking. No one to ask as the tavern only opened late. Not a very pleasant experience.

I only had 1/2 roll of toilet paper on the toilet holder. If I needed another one, there were no spare rolls available. Also, it would have been great to have a spare blanket. More economical, than using electric heating all night.
